Front Royal prepares for royal visit: King Charles, Queen Camilla head to Virginia追加:
The royal visit to the US continues today. Britain's King Charles and Queen Camilla in New York today paying their respects at the 9/11 Memorial in Lower Manhattan. They laid flowers to honor the victims of the terror attack which killed dozens of British citizens. They also met with first responders and victims families. The King then made a stop in Harlem for a child food insecurity events. But tomorrow the royals come to the Commonwealth. They'll drop in on a big celebration for a small Virginia town with a very appropriate name Front Royal. That's where we find Tom Fitzgerald and look fits. I mean this is not uh the type of visitors that a town like Front Royal would expect every day. So how are people feeling there?
Well, good evening to you. You know, it is not every day that the King and Queen of England come to your hometown. But that is exactly what is going to happen to Front Royal tomorrow. Uh Warren County schools are closed all day on Thursday and for a pretty good reason.
The royal couple is coming here and Front Royal is ready to put on a welcome fit for a king and a queen. So why, you may ask, are Charles and Camilla coming to Front Royal? Well, this year the town is marking its own 250th anniversary. So this year the royal company are actually going to participate in the celebratory parade through the middle of town.
Front Royal also happens to be at the very northern edge of the Shenandoah National Park. So that is where the royal couple are also going to be visiting on Thursday. So in essence the town is both rolling out a red carpet and putting down a pretty big security blanket at the same time. It's only a town of about 16,000 people, but we found out quickly everybody is pretty engaged in all of this and they tell Fox 5 they cannot wait to see the King and Queen.
I love the royal family. You know, I love The Crown, big fan. So yeah, I think it's really exciting that such a small town has such a big honor. I am very surprised. Um especially since this town is kind of, you know, out of the way. Um but it does have the best entrance to the National Park. Like I truly would did like my brain didn't even go to like King of England.
So you could say that right now Front Royal has royal fever. At Master Craft Design Paul Carb been watching all of this unfold the last two days. He's seen that big steel fencing we're pretty used to in DC going up around the center of town over it. Melania's Gourmet Coffee and Bakery, that's her real name.
They've even put together a special royal dessert for the occasion. They all feel, they tell Fox 5, this is going to put Front Royal on the map in a very big way.
It has been something else with the road closures early this morning. The fences they're putting up, you know, it's kind of something you'd see down at the White House, not in Front Royal.
>> So excited.
>> How can you not be? I mean royalty, uh history is descending on a very small town to come and see the history that we have here.
All right, so they are clearly looking forward to this. A couple of things you need to know if you're going to come here for this royal visit tomorrow. The lineup for the parade, that starts at 10:00 a.m. There are also going to be security screening checkpoints as you might expect. There is a list of prohibited items. You can find that on the Front Royal Town website, but they are expecting lots of happy big crowds here tomorrow for the royal welcome. Fox 5 in Front Royal tonight with Cindy Bakkedahl.
