Why “8 days” means 1 week in Colombia 🇨🇴

[00:00:03]When someone says, "Nos vemos en ocho días."

[00:00:07]you think, "Okay, in ocho días?"

[00:00:11]But that's not what it means over here.

[00:00:14]In Colombia, ocho días actually means 1 week.

[00:00:19]Yes, 1 week.

[00:00:22]Because they count today as day one.

[00:00:26]So if today is Monday, day two is Tuesday, day three is Wednesday, day four is Thursday, day five is Friday, day six is Saturday, day seven is Sunday, and day o- day ocho is Monday again, lunes.

[00:00:45]So yes, for us Europeans, it's 7 days, right? As a Belgian living in Bogota, this was really confusing for me in the beginning. And I really got like, "Mm, nos vemos en ocho, okay, yeah, good. I see you next Tuesday if today is Monday, no?"
