Construction activities in residential areas can cause significant dust pollution, which can be mitigated by using water trucks to wet roads before heavy vehicles pass, preventing dust from becoming airborne and entering nearby homes.

Residents of Belmopan Raise Concers Over Dust | Love Is Everywhere!Added:
In Belize, and beyond.
Love is everywhere.
Love is everywhere on this a Tuesday morning. We were down south, now we're going to be heading over to the west side to the Cayo District, more specifically Belmopan, where we will be joining LJ Waight. So, LJ, you can take it away. Dave Blazing Beyond Rich, I hope we're having a great day. And of course, I hope our listeners and viewers are having a great day as well. Today, I am in the Maya Mopan area of the capital city of Belmopan, where for the past few weeks, I've been receiving a number of calls from residents of this area complaining about dust. Yes, you heard that right, dust. Now, this isn't natural dust. Apparently, the dust is being caused by some work that is being done in this area. You can see this stretch is filled with residential homes, and they said that they're tired of the constant dust. Now, if I would turn my camera to the right, you can see a quarry, where a lot of construction work is currently being done. I've been here on the scene, I would say for about 6 minutes now, and in those 6 minutes, at least four huge trucks have already passed. And anytime that those trucks would pass on this road, and would make their way to the quarry, these homes here would just get flooded [snorts] with dust. Now, you can see these people have their windows open, inside is completely dusty due to the works that are currently happening in Maya Mopan.
Now, this is the John Saldivar Boulevard in Maya Mopan, and currently, we're not sure who is doing the construction work. We're not sure if it's a city council project, if it's a Recondev project, or if it's a private entity who is digging up materials from the quarry. But, from what I have been told by the residents of this area, they have made countless calls to city council trying to com- trying to explain what has been happening and complaining about the dust. Now, according to the residents who who prefer to remain anonymous, no water trucks have passed. So, typically, when it comes to these types of construction works, before you do these huge construction works on these dirt roads, a water truck would usually pass by, wet the road, so that when these big trucks do end up passing, dust does not fly up.
Um dust does not fly up in the area and cause these problems that we are seeing.
Now, from what I have just been told, it seems that a well-known businessman is in Belmopan. He's working on fixing some roads. So, he's getting the material from here and then Recondev, who is stockpiling material for works, they're stockpiling material for works that they're doing. So, that's what's happening here in Mayamopan, but just a lot of complaints from residents of the area. They asked me to come out to shine some light on the situation.
It's ironic because when I first got here, five big trucks passed me. I've been here for another five minutes and no trucks have passed me. But, that's just how it goes in Nima sometime. But, the main complaint from the residents is that they want at least some water trucks to pass by every now and then to wet the road so that dust does not fly up. And would you look at that, as I'm speaking, a big truck seems to be passing. And I'm sorry for real listeners, but if you're watching this on Facebook, you can see the amount of dust that is coming from behind the truck. So, suddenly, I'm going to be covered in dust right now because it's going to pass right by me.
But, yeah. I hope you could have seen just how much dust is from those trucks. So, you can see it's blowing right in those residential homes, and these residents are tired of this constant uh dust situation that they're calling it.
So, we're calling uh on the city council to to intercede and just ask the persons to please at least wet the roads before these works continue so that the dust can stop entering their homes. So, that's been the report. Um again, this has been Elgi Wied. Rich, we're going to send it back to you.
Love is everywhere.
>> And thank you for that update there in Bumbapan, Elgi. And I hope that after this you do get the dust out of dust all the dust off from you. If you need to take that extra shower, go right ahead.
You can do it for today. We understand if you want to go take that midday shower. It is 9 minutes past 11:00, and we continue with the music right here on Love. We started off very
