[00:00:41]>> What's up, everybody? Welcome back to the Crown Cinema Podcast. In this episode, we are breaking down >> and literally just watched the Land of the Lost.

[00:00:52]>> Land of the Lost.

[00:00:53]>> You guys never seen it? I love this movie. seen it countless times.

[00:00:57]>> Yeah, this is my first time. Uh, makes sense.

[00:01:02]>> It's funny when I watch this movie, I literally care zero for the plot. I do not care anything happening in the story line, but I just love the scenes. I just love Will Frell in this movie. I love Danny McBride. Re-watching it, I'm just looking forward to like every scene of just whatever the hell Will Frell is about to come out, whatever the hell's about to come out of Will Farrell's mouth. I think it took me about 30 to 40 minutes and then I just finally had the mindset of, you know what, I don't care.

[00:01:30]I'm gonna enjoy this movie. I don't care what happens. It's not going to ruin my Friday. We're we're we're filming this on a Friday. And I mean, damn it, it's it's Will Frell and Danny McBride.

[00:01:42]>> Their only movie together.

[00:01:44]>> Yeah. So, like they are funny, you know, no matter what you try to do to them, you know, they're going to be funny.

[00:01:52]Here's the other thing. I feel like this is just I feel like you could watch this movie on drugs. Part of me thinks you're supposed to kind of be on something.

[00:02:02]>> You need what? Chaka. And they all took need the chaka drugs. The chaka drink.

[00:02:06]>> Like it's just that absurd. So once you just kind of accept it, just give into it, you can have a good time watching this movie. If you don't like this movie, that's your fault.

[00:02:20]>> Well, if you don't like this movie, you're five watches away from making it your funniest your favorite comedy movie. It like ex gets exponentially funnier every time you rewatch it.

[00:02:29]>> It has to have a cult following because I I'm just like >> I mean it was a massive flop at the box office. [laughter] Like I mean I have some stats here about just why this is like the worst movie ever that people >> come on the worst movie ever.

[00:02:44]>> I but again like I think it's one of those like I think it's so bad that it actually makes it funny. Like I think they buy into it.

[00:02:53]>> Yeah.

[00:02:53]>> Like just in the movie like I feel like you can see at some certain point they were like all right [ __ ] this like just to hell with it. Let's >> I can't believe it's PG-13. One of the Google suggested questions is, is Land of the Lost a parody movie?

[00:03:09]>> Is it? I mean, so it's based on a show, right?

[00:03:12]>> So, it's based on a show, an original TV series is a Saturday children's show that would come on called Land of the Lost.

[00:03:19]>> Okay. So, it was a children's show.

[00:03:20]>> Yes. It was like a cult classic, you know, beloved show for kids back in the day, 50s. I don't even know when.

[00:03:27]>> Okay, that's funny. And so, but the so the obviously the creators of the show sold the rights off for Land of the Lost. And when they saw the movie, they were so mad. They were like, "That is not Land of the Lost." Like, they were pissed about how this came off.

[00:03:43]They like disowned this movie as a part of what their [snorts] world they created was. [laughter] They called it the worst movie ever made. And but Universal Studios bought the rights to this movie with the entire and sole intention of putting Will Ferrell in it. Like they wanted to make Land of the Lost a Will Frell movie. So Universal knew what they were doing when they casted Will Ferrell in Land of the Lost. They didn't really care to follow the blueprint of the show.

[00:04:09]>> I mean knew what they were doing. I think that might be a bit of a a bit of a stretch. Like >> yeah, >> look what I like everybody knows what they're doing. I mean, this movie came out in 2009, so they start filming in like 2008, maybe 2007, >> which is peak Will Ferrell.

[00:04:24]>> So, you're just trying >> to the top of the game.

[00:04:26]>> Yes. You're just trying to just trying to get him like, you know, it's just the idea that anything he touches right now is going to be gold. Mhm.

[00:04:35]>> And Danny McBride, I don't know what he would have done at this point besides the movie he made with Jody Hill, the the kung fu movie, >> which Fist Foot Way, >> Fist of the Fury. I don't know. I still I got to watch that one. I feel kind of like a fraud cuz I do like Danny McBride a lot. Um, Eastbound and Down had a lot to do with college for me, but I have not seen that movie.

[00:05:01]>> I have not seen it either. Um, obviously like I love him. Pineapple Express the foot fist way 200. Oh, he did Hot Rod in 2007 >> and Pineapple Express >> and Pineapple Express. Okay, never mind.

[00:05:14]>> Okay, so they are trying to they're just trying to put these two guys together and be like, "All right, this has to work, right?"

[00:05:21]>> Yeah.

[00:05:21]>> And you know what?

[00:05:23]>> If you go into if again if you just let go, it does work. I once I realized that it just the movie sucked. you cuz you told me before we watched it. I was like, "Dude, I can't believe like I've never, you know, I I don't think this is good cuz I would have heard of it, right?" You're like, "My sucks, but they're funny." I was like, "The movie sucks, but they're funny." Okay. And I see.

[00:05:49]>> I understand you. You won't understand what that means unless you go watch it.

[00:05:52]>> I love this movie so much that one person commented on one of our recent episodes and said, "Land the Lost next."

[00:05:59]And I said, "Done. [laughter] I miss that. I think that's also why I like this movie more is I think it's hilarious that you love this movie.

[00:06:07]>> Yeah, because it's I love it.

[00:06:09]>> It's so funny that this is one of your hidden treasures.

[00:06:11]>> Like me and my brother freaking love this movie. Like we've seen it together probably at least 10 times.

[00:06:17]>> What do you think?

[00:06:18]>> I'm sorry I'm yawning. It's Friday.

[00:06:20][laughter] >> This is not the time to yawn. This is the time to get after it.

[00:06:24]>> I'm sorry. Uh when do you think was the first time you watched this movie? Cuz that obviously has a big factor in it.

[00:06:29]I've watched it so many times I couldn't tell you.

[00:06:32]>> I don't know honestly. Like it's always been >> Let's say 2009. So you and you and you and Jacob were too young to watch it at that point.

[00:06:41]>> It's PG-13. So you were probably like 12. He he might have been 11 would be my guess.

[00:06:47]>> Yeah, probably. I think it was recommended to us and we watched it. It might have been a time when like you know when you have like hang out with your cousins or your friends and like you at night you always watch a comedy movie just to laugh. So once you run out of Step Brothers and you seen that and you seen like all the other ones, you're kind of like looking for like what what else can we see that we haven't seen together? Yeah.

[00:07:04]>> And I'm pretty sure Land of the Lost made its way in that rotation and then we were like, "Wow, this movie is hilarious."

[00:07:10]>> That is so I mean I think that has to do with everything. I say that, but like I think of all the funny movies that I enjoy, like I'm just looking at this Danny McBride list, like Hot Rod still holds up. Like I feel like if you show anybody Hot Rod, they're going to laugh.

[00:07:27]Yeah, >> Pineapple Express. Same thing.

[00:07:32]Let's I'm just looking at This Is the End. I feel like everybody loved that.

[00:07:36]>> But then, you know, I So, Land of the Lost kind of reminds me of 30 Minutes or Less. I doubt you've seen that.

[00:07:43]>> Have not.

[00:07:44]>> It's uh Oh, man. Who is it?

[00:07:48]>> I forget. Jesse Jesse Eisenberg, I think, is his name.

[00:07:53]>> It's definitely Jesse Eisenberg. Uh Mark Zuckerberg.

[00:07:57]>> Yes. And the comedian uh there he is. Aziz.

[00:08:06]>> Aziz. Aari.

[00:08:07]>> That's right. Yeah. This movie kind of gives me Land of the Lost vibes where it's like there's so many funny moment or funny moments in it.

[00:08:15]>> Mhm.

[00:08:17]>> But it's actually like, you know, I think it just didn't have the it factor.

[00:08:22]M.

[00:08:22]>> And it's so weird to capture that, especially in comedy. I feel like it's so hard to actually do that.

[00:08:27]>> See, but that's Will Frell, old school Will Frell's mastery is he knows exactly how to capture that.

[00:08:33]>> Will Pharaoh and Danny McBride are awesome in this movie.

[00:08:37]>> So, which obviously, you know, that that works out great. But it's just it's funny that as I'm watching it, it's as if there wasn't a script. They just like gave him a basis of like this is what kind of has to happen and anything can happen but you none of you can die >> and so like you're invincible on in this film and so it's just like oh okay and and now it's just Will Frell and Danny McBride just running around.

[00:09:03]>> Yeah. Most of the plot isn't bad in the sense of like how they get to the next step but there was one moment in the movie that just is literally so dumb.

[00:09:11]Like it's just a copout in writing. It's when they're getting attacked by the sleeve stack while the lizards are coming and surrounding them the first time and they go to and they're holding onto the vibrating glass thing.

[00:09:22]>> Mhm.

[00:09:23]>> And she takes out her belt. Holly takes out her belt to like beat him off and like the [laughter] to beat them up.

[00:09:32]>> That's not what you said.

[00:09:33]>> That's not what I said. And so before she beats him off, her uh >> You said it again.

[00:09:38]>> Her belt is like reflecting >> and then out of nowhere, Dr. Rick Marshall has the idea to shine it on the stone eyes that'll then reflect and open up a safety net. Like that's the dumbest writing. That's the most laziest way to get out of that possible. But who cares?

[00:09:52]>> I agree. But I can't believe like that's your one example. Like I'm also thinking of other dumb things that happen.

[00:09:59]>> Two just right off the top. The fact that they keep outrunning the T-Rexes.

[00:10:03]Yeah.

[00:10:04]>> Like multiple times the T-Rex is like close to them >> and then like it changes camera angles and now they are like >> miles. football fields away from. But again, like I'm not going to pick it apart. But then I am going to pick it apart at the same time.

[00:10:18]>> But that one's that one is okay to me because it's just kind of chops up the movie magic and it's not a serious movie. So like whatever.

[00:10:25]>> Like that's why again I accept it. I accept that they're not actually going to like >> make it dramatic.

[00:10:32]>> They're Well, they're not going to like let these characters think of crazy ways to get out. It's just like just everybody [ __ ] relax. All right, this land of the lost. Like they're they're not going to die. We're not going to kill him by a dinosaur. The other thing that I noticed >> is like at one point >> Danny McBride's character like hits the the >> the slee stack >> the slee stack and they're like not budging. So it makes it seem like they're just incredibly strong and then the woman just starts beating the [ __ ] out of them like a few minutes later.

[00:11:06]Now, one could say that could be funny because like Danny McBride's character is like secretly weak.

[00:11:11]>> Yeah. He like tries to be a tough guy.

[00:11:14]>> I think the other thing I I don't think I said this while we were watching the movie. I was like, how are they not starving, >> right?

[00:11:20]like just never I mean they finally get the crab when they're high on drugs which that was an awesome scene but like I think there was just levels of whenever most times whenever you watch a movie about like characters that are thrown onto a new world or just a new setting and they have to survive the number one thing that like starts to set in is like damn like through all the BS like I still got to eat.

[00:11:45]>> Yeah water.

[00:11:47]>> Yeah. And they just don't do that.

[00:11:49]>> Yeah. Yeah, just they're just they're not hungry. And I think that kind of like I just noticed it more because I thought that was going to be such a big thing in the beginning.

[00:12:01]>> Like a joke.

[00:12:02]>> Yeah. Because Yeah. Will Frell, >> his character Rick Marshall >> is hungry. He eats a lot.

[00:12:09]>> They like threw that in there just for it to not mean anything at all. Right.

[00:12:14]That's just Will Frell just eating like explaining like it's a glazed donut with M&M's so you can eat the donut and then not eat the M&M's after. [clears throat] >> So you don't have to eat M&M's after you eat a donut.

[00:12:24]>> And then she just randomly finds him in a food coma. And he explains like how he was working so hard that like he needed Arby's and then that wasn't enough. So then he went to Popeye's that wasn't enough so he went to Subway.

[00:12:39]>> That quarter inch on rye.

[00:12:41]>> Yeah. So that >> quarter pound, whatever he says.

[00:12:43]>> So that all happens just for it to mean nothing.

[00:12:49]I'm just saying, you know, >> that's dumb. It is incredibly dumb the entire movie. But that's kind of why I love it.

[00:12:55]>> I kind of look, I accept it. I was like, "Okay, that's kind of funny that they're just not going to that just didn't mean anything."

[00:13:01]>> The writer for the movie, he admitted when they were talking about it, he's like, "Yeah, we didn't we weren't really uh dialed in on that movie. We're pretty we failed. We failed big time on this movie." He said because they were somewhere in the middle between a runchy comedy but then also a familyfriendly movie and they did not pick either side.

[00:13:18]So they're like very much in the middle.

[00:13:20]So audiences that want a runchy comedy, this movie is too childish. Family movie too runchy. Kids kids can't watch it. So it's in this weird middle ground to where it really doesn't really have an audience.

[00:13:30]>> Dude, you had Danny McBride like showing his titty cups at the beginning of the movie and I'm like damn, dude. This is not PG-13. I think it's like I think I want to say it's labeled as a family friend movie. Like I think on Apple TV they call it a a family movie.

[00:13:45]>> That's I mean that's funny.

[00:13:47]>> Which again it's like they literally that >> you can kind of get away with it. I mean you know the titty cup thing that just kind of gives me like Chevy Chase vibes.

[00:13:57]>> Mhm.

[00:13:57]>> In Christmas Vacation.

[00:13:59]>> Yeah.

[00:14:00]>> You know so like whatever. No big deal.

[00:14:03]Uh that's not like the end of the world.

[00:14:05]But I also don't know. Oh yeah. Like then I I do think of uh what's the the ape the caveman? What's his >> chaka?

[00:14:19]>> Like he's explaining to Danny Danny McBride that as the prince of his kingdom when he goes back home he's got thousands of ladies that serve >> him of 7,000 women that serve him.

[00:14:30]>> Yeah. Like sexually. And then >> I was like, that's not family friendly.

[00:14:35][laughter] >> Yeah, exactly.

[00:14:36]>> That's, you know, I you you talk about the uh the writers just being like, >> part of me thinks that maybe they knew that halfway through because Will Frell's character at like the middle of the movie is just like, I give up.

[00:14:57]>> Yes.

[00:14:58]>> I'm done.

[00:14:58]>> That was the writers talking to us.

[00:15:00]>> Well, I wonder if that was just them on set. They're like, "This is the dumbest [ __ ] ever."

[00:15:03]>> Yeah.

[00:15:04]>> And they were just like, "What if we just gave up, >> you know?" And then Will, he's just like, "Yeah, I give up. I'm gonna put my hand down my pants." And, you know, that's that's about all I got.

[00:16:32]>> Now, when they released it, they really didn't plan it out the release very well because Well, honestly, this isn't honest. It's in hindsight, it's it's a fair point to make, but at the time, it doesn't make sense. This movie was released on the same day, same weekend as The Hangover.

[00:16:47]>> Yep. Now in retrosp or at that time Bradley Cooper and all the actors at Helms all them in The Hangover were not famous yet. That's like Bradley Cooper's first big movie was The Hangover.

[00:17:00]>> Was that the first big one? I mean he was in uh >> he's been in movies but like that was his first like massive hit. Yeah. So he became >> and it's a comedy at that you know I think Zack Galifanakis like he's definitely a nobody. Yes. You know like this is a big risk for him to >> Yeah. No, I see it. Going against Will Frell and Danny McBride. Exactly.

[00:17:19]Powerhouses.

[00:17:20]>> So, they didn't think that would be a problem, but because again, no name comedy, like nobody's gonna watch that.

[00:17:26]>> Yeah.

[00:17:26]>> Massive hit. I mean, completely destroyed Land of the Lost. And also, Up came out the same weekend as well.

[00:17:32]>> So, now you have runchy comedy >> versus family.

[00:17:37]>> Two distinct genres, and then you have Land of the Lost in the Middle. And if somebody had to pick a movie, they're going to pick the one they want, not the one that's half both. Mhm.

[00:17:46]>> So, it's just a perfect storm to make that thing get erased from the box office to where like nobody cared about the movie. I mean, >> Will Frell, top of his game, doesn't even make back the budget. That's insane.

[00:17:58]>> That is crazy. It's It's so funny that you did decide to do this. So, Danny McBride has his book that he's got out right now. So, >> the short story 10 short stories he wrote.

[00:18:08]>> Yeah. So, >> I ordered from Amazon coming in tomorrow.

[00:18:12]>> Nice. So, he's like kind of on his big tour right now doing all his interviews, promoting his book. And I did not realize this, but it is hilarious to think about, but he did an interview and he admitted like he passed on the hangover.

[00:18:26]>> Yeah. [laughter] >> He passed on the hangover and did Land of the Lost, which why would he not, you know, why would he not go toe-to-toe with Will Frell in the prime? You know, like we just said, >> makes so much sense that he chose to do this. But he was like, "That was one of the more humbling careers of my move."

[00:18:46]Because you think about it, he read the script. He probably was like, "Kind of sucks." No. Yeah. Like he probably told his team that. They were like, "Yeah, but like it's you and Will Frell. Like y'all will make it funny. Like maybe it doesn't, you know, but like once you get in there and y'all start saying your lines and you'll have a chemistry about y'all, it'll probably kill." He's like, >> "Okay, interesting." But this hangover script is actually, it's funny. Like it's good. They're like Bradley Cooper, he's a pretty boy, you know, he can't he's not funny. Zach Galanakis, who the [ __ ] is that?

[00:19:16]>> It's also at a time when the IP type movies that we see so many times today, like redoing an old show, redoing an old movie, you know, that kind of stuff, emoji movie, that kind of [ __ ] that was before that time. [laughter] >> That kind of [ __ ] >> It was before that time. And so Land of the Lost was a very popular >> intellectual property. And so Will Ferrell attaching to it already has like an audience built in. So like people in theory should be excited to go watch this movie of Land of the Lost. That's a comedy with Wolf Frell. But so Danny McBride, you know, logically made the smart choice and then just the movie industry is very volatile. So you don't really know what's going to connect, what's going to hit. That's what's risky about that industry.

[00:19:57]>> Yeah.

[00:19:57]>> You never really know.

[00:19:58]>> I I definitely think it's more of just the back and forth that like they could not figure out if this was going to be runchy or family.

[00:20:04]>> Yeah. which you guess you have to make that distinction >> like >> mom I feel like moms with kids kill movies when it comes to this territory.

[00:20:14]>> What do you mean?

[00:20:15]>> If a mom takes her kid to the theater and in the first 5 minutes or 10 minutes she sees Danny McBride talking about like it's my favorite kind of woman, you know, titties with no head, no talking.

[00:20:28]You can even hold her with a handle.

[00:20:31]She's gonna go like blast on Facebook like, "Do not take your kids to see this movie. It's misogynist." There's gonna be groups of mothers talking about like, "Do not take your kids to see it. It's so incredibly inappropriate. Nothing like the show we grew up with.

[00:20:46]>> Don't do it." And dads are like, "Fuck yeah, that Hangover movie looked awesome." Anyways, I'm going to go sneak and see that.

[00:20:53]>> The one of the guys that played So, all the characters are named after the actual characters that start in the show. Dr. Rick, Marshall, Will, Holly, it's all the same except they're playing different versions. Like they're just the names are the same. They're kind of in the same roles, but like the characters like kids like I think Holly's a kid. I don't really know the exact relationship between between them all. But um at towards the end of the show, the actual show, Rick Marshall's brother was on there for like a last like one season or two seasons or something like that and he was invited to be on a be as a cameo in the movie and he declined it and he said and quote, "I have this problem with dinosaur urine jokes." That's why he didn't [laughter] get in the movie because he has a problem with dinosaur urine jokes.

[00:21:40][laughter] Like what? That's a hard line. That's That's what made you not want to be in this movie?

[00:21:49]>> Cross the line. Dinosaur urine is not something to joke about.

[00:21:52]>> That's what made you not want to join the powerhouse of Will Frell and Danny McBride and potentially restart your career?

[00:21:59]>> Like that was the That was the crew joke that went over the line.

[00:22:02]>> Yeah, that was the one. Yeah.

[00:22:07]Hollywood. I don't know.

[00:22:08]>> Makes it just literally what a bunch of oddballs. That's so like cuz I'm just trying to think, you know, 2007 Danny McBride. Look, I don't know the guy, but I would just kind of assume that he was probably partying his ass off.

[00:22:23]>> Yeah.

[00:22:24]>> You know, maybe just I mean, party rocking.

[00:22:27]>> I'm just thinking about like a set with him, >> you know? I'm just thinking like the character that he displays like in This is the end like cocaine and hookers.

[00:22:39]>> Mhm. But this guy probably hopped on set and saw them do the piss scene and he was like, "Whoa, whoa, whoa. I can't be a part of this."

[00:22:48]>> Yeah, this is too far.

[00:22:49]>> Whoa. This is horrible. Danny, get this woman off of me. I can't do this.

[00:22:54]>> Yeah, >> this is horrible.

[00:22:57]That's so That's hilar.

[00:22:59]>> I think the original cast members as well, I think they shot a cameo with them, but it ended up getting cut out of the movie. So, I mean, they just took this they took this old show that was a fan favorite and just [ __ ] [ __ ] all over it.

[00:23:12]>> So, like it was actually that popular of a show. I've never heard of Land of Lost.

[00:23:17]>> It's like a cult classic show.

[00:23:19]>> Like when 80s?

[00:23:22]>> No.

[00:23:23]>> '7s.

[00:23:23]>> Well, let's see. 74.

[00:23:28]>> 1974 Land of the Lost.

[00:23:30]>> It lasted three seasons.

[00:23:36]The sle god chaka [laughter] chaka's in it. Lizard men Will and Holly are captured.

[00:23:48]They uh name they name a T-Rex Grumpy.

[00:23:52]So, all the little things of the show are in this movie. I think that was another thing that they were uh banking on landing that is funny, but you kind of force it to be funny is Will Frell having beef with a dinosaur.

[00:24:07]>> Yeah.

[00:24:07]>> Like having beef with the T-Rex.

[00:24:09]>> Like that's the kind of kid humor.

[00:24:11]>> Yeah.

[00:24:11]>> Like the brain walnut and then they drop a giant walnut. It's a walnut. That's a kid joke.

[00:24:17]>> Yeah.

[00:24:17]>> And then you have runchy jokes. Another kid joke is uh like the show tune seeming like singing and performing like Chaka singing like that's kind of a more of like a familyfriendly kind of joke there. The kids might crack up at.

[00:24:31]>> So they literally are just like cannot pick what this movie is about or what this movie's vibe is going to be.

[00:24:35]>> Well, and then I think just at the beginning of the movie when uh Rick Marshall's machine like starts playing music >> and uh what what's the lady's name in Land of the Lost in this movie? Oie.

[00:24:48]Yeah, Paul's like, "Oh, that's gay."

G Jason Seagull's in it, but he it's about a husband and wife who go on this >> little ex like couples retreat together, not just but themselves at like their parents like old cabin like his, you know, there's like a lakehouse that they always go to in the summertime. So like they go to it to kind of re try to rekindle their marriage, but each of them both have a plan to kill each other while they're there. And so you watch that unfold as like are trying to kill each other and crazier things happen.

[00:26:02]And it's just like a wild story, but it's so good. And nobody's talking about it.

And I watched one movie uh with John Goodman, and it's called Chili Finger. And it's actually it's based on a true story and it's pretty much like uh this chilly this this lady is a lawyer ex lawyer but now she's a mom and her daughter is like leaving the house so she's like bored so she's like just looking for [ __ ] to do and she pretty much finesses a way to sue this fast food restaurant because she found a finger in like a chili bowl.

[00:26:52]>> And so she like sues the company for everything and then like kind of blackmails them and this sort of thing >> and it's done really well. And as I was watching I was like this is so good. I'm like so into this movie. The lines are delivered perfectly. Like the comedic timing is really good >> and you know it was kind of like a dark comedy with the blackmail and everything. Sure. you know, there's there's like some kind of wo moments with like some characters dying >> and it's like what?

[00:27:21]>> But then at the end of it I was like nobody's going to watch it.

But you know that just it's it's so hard >> I think because there's so many movies like just always coming out >> and most movies suck and so people >> it's hard to find like a real gem. We're in a spot in the like movie industry where people don't trust new movies.

Like phenomenal movie, I guess, but I hate that movie.

You know, he's uh the the guy that's going through it has his old his roommate back home. It's like don't go to that house.

[00:29:12]What the [ __ ] Get the [ __ ] out of there. You know, that whole thing. And then he, you know, not going to spoil it and maybe there's people that haven't seen Get Out, but it's nice and you can go watch. I remember Get Out like everybody flooded the theaters.

[00:29:28]>> But Get Out was came out around the time where theaters were still relevant.

Well, also the movie theater back in the day, like I was growing up, at least like middle school, high school, like the Marvel movies were coming out and those are like so cool as a kid. And so like you had to watch every movie to follow the story. They all had like a big arc they were leading to with like little teasers for the next one. So like you're excited for all the movies cuz like kind of your first time seeing Captain America, then you get to see or you see Iron Man, then Captain America and like all these other superheroes. So you like constantly want to go to the theater like, "Oh, this one's coming out. Let's go. This weekend we got to go see it opening night."

[00:30:57]>> I I feel like they still make good war movies. Yeah, >> I I went and saw I've seen a decent amount of war movies like with my dad because he would not go see superheroes movies with me. He's always hated them.

A couple rewrites, a little bit of improv. I There's definitely some improv in this movie. There's me and Greg both believe that in the scene when they're eating the crab, they had to have just been rolling and they just like let him roll. Let him just talk. Improv.

There's a good >> Danny McBride just, you know, and he's also got Will Frell who Will Frell kind of made his comedic presence known for being the guy that will do anything. He has no shame, you know. I'm thinking um in on SNL. He would play so many different roles for like pretty much like lack of clothing in front of the entire country >> and his body is pretty funny.

[00:55:10]>> Yeah. You know, he he had no shame. So Danny McBride finally has him in like a Will in a in an improv moment where they're on drugs. He's like, "You two should French kiss >> just looks at him." Will's like, >> "Yeah, I [ __ ] it. I'll do it for free."

[00:55:30]>> Uh Adam Mccay didn't direct this movie because he didn't want that to be a stain on his career.

[00:55:46]>> But if he was attached, he would have been like, "Okay, but I have to rewrite the script. We got to change some things."

[00:55:53]>> Yeah, but I'm saying if he's attached as the director, he would have been like, "If he's going to be the director, he's like, "I got some rewrites."

[00:55:57]>> Yeah, but I bet they tried to make him the director because why the [ __ ] would they not? If it's Will Frell and Adam McKay at the top of their game, >> they've got this.

[01:06:10]With that being said, writing two out of 10. Um I mean just god awful. I don't you know what's happening. There's no bad. It's so bad. That's okay. That's okay. You know, take pride in the fact like I love the fact that the writers just came out, >> yeah, we kind of failed.

[01:06:29]>> Yeah. So, [laughter] like nobody's going to be like, "What the, you know, [ __ ] this guy." Like, >> it's okay. It is what it is. It seriously, it's all good. It's all good.
