[00:00:05][music] >> As you guys can see, I've been making a whole ton of progress on my cabin build.

[00:00:15]But one thing I've realized is I can never have too many batteries charged.

[00:00:19]My impact, circle saw, hammer batteries, phone, something's always dead. So, instead of running extension cords everywhere and wondering what's charged, I've been using the Ankor Solix S2000 right here in the cabin to make sure all of my stuff's being charged. Out here in the woods, I do not have grid power.

[00:00:37]Every tool I run, every outlet I use, every battery I charge, I have to make sure that I'm using something I can trust. That is why I have made it a priority to find a power bank that can charge everything just how I need it. I can charge my tool batteries, camera, phone, and even power a fan for these hot days. Pretty cool. While I'm outside framing all day, I got one battery charging at all times, so I can just swap it out and keep going. And it's sweet being able to power this many things. We got so many ports right here and even two in the back. But I can keep my camera batteries charging as well, so I don't have to stop building just cuz I can't film. I still have a long way to go to build this cabin, but having a reliable power source like this handy, having it wherever I want it to go has been a huge help and it's going to make it way easier. We got more 2x4s than we needed cuz the bulk pricing, but now we got enough to finish framing the walls for the first story, some of the second story, and the floor joist for the second floor. Now, we just got to go get some potatoes, and now we're headed back. It is supposed to rain today. Uh so, we're going to see how much we can get done, but we'll see.

[00:05:07]Check it out, guys. I've got the plans for the wall builds. I have everything uh everything ready to go, I think. And we have decided to just make the opposite wall um have two windows as well.

[00:05:25]And I think I have all the mats ready to go. So, it should be easy peasy. All right, we made it back. But we got to free the freak. Awesome.

[00:06:54]All right, got the tarp off, all the wood out of there. We're ready to build.

[00:06:58]We knocked this wall down. So, we got to replace this one except do it good. The plan is to cut both these 12footers to 113 and 5/8. We got to get eight king studs, eight jack studs, four jack studs again, and then two headers.

[00:07:15]And then uh piece it all together. All right, we got everything marked out on our um bottom and top plates.

[00:07:24]All the king studs, all the jack studs.

[00:07:27]We got all our jack studs cut right here and all of our king studs right here.

[00:07:32]Now we're going to put it together. All the king studs in. Now for the jack studs. Now all the jack studs are in.

[00:07:39]Let's go. The wall is complete. The most beautiful wall we have ever made or anyone has ever made. Right, Jesse?

[00:07:49]>> It's It's actually beautiful. Now, we're going to stand it up. Hopefully, we like the uh height of those new windows. And hopefully, it's all beautiful.

[00:08:09]And now we have jack studs under the header. That is all we had to do. But also the window height looks way better.

[00:08:23]All right, guys. It started raining. We just hustled to get get the tarp up and all the lumber underneath.

[00:08:34]It got got a little bit wet, but not too bad. Not the worst.

[00:08:43]We got some of them big 2x10 12s up there holding up the tarp. Hopefully hopefully that works pretty good. It is going to pull up still in spots. But man, I hate rain.

And then it changed to like raining at 1 and then not two and then three and then not four. But now it says that it is raining every hour for the rest of the day.

[00:09:37]So, we may be done for the day, but at least we got one wall done.

[00:09:52]The sky doesn't look too great, but not too bad. It does say it's still going to rain for the next few hours, but I think we might try to build this last wall uh just without um taking the tarp off. And and we'll see. We'll see.

[00:11:03]So guys, we find the center point and then I go an inch and a half over this way.

[00:11:22]Got to go another inch and a half for the uh for the jack studs.

[00:11:43]Oh, look at that handwriting. That is some good handwriting. And then from the middle 42 in out in either direction is the outside king outside of the king stud outside of the window. 42 42 draw that line. So that's the outside.

[00:13:38]And then we just go 16 on center from the outside to get one more king stud.

[00:14:03]So, that's all the markings we need. And then I'm just going to transfer that over to the other 12footer.

[00:14:22]All right, there's the king studs. Now it's time to cut the jack studs.

[00:14:55]So for this wall we need eight jack studs 33 in and four jack studs 24 Heat. Heat. [snorts] Hey, also these are nice.

[00:16:28]And these are the jack studs to hold up the headers.

[00:17:29]Okay, so we got all the jack studs and all the king studs in place. We got our headers we got to screw together still, but it's all ready to put together.

[00:17:37]We uh the GoPro overheated. I don't know why that happens. cuz the GoPro keeps overheating. So, well, I'll just show you guys when it's done. We just got to screw all these in.

[00:17:47]We have done it. Another beautiful wall.

[00:17:50]And that one went super fast. We're getting really good at this. It's going quick.

[00:17:55]And it's super sick. We know what to do now. We just got to stand it up. It has started sprinkling a little bit. So, we're going to want to try to stand this up, secure it in place, and then get the lumber back in here. And we're probably going to have to do that quick cuz it might start raining for real now. Holy Okay, it is start sprinkling a little bit. We opted to not stand that wall up. It's just on the ground because we would have had to do some tarp adjustments and I didn't know if we had time. But we got all the lumber back in here and the lumber on the trailer tarped. And that was amazing that we just came out here when it stopped raining and built the wall and then got it all in before it started raining. That's pretty insane that that happened. It's pretty good stuff. Real good stuff. All walls are complete.

[00:19:12]And now I'm 174 and I've grown a beard, which is like the goal. So if you guys want to grow a beard and gain 50 lbs, live in the woods. Little bit of mustard, a little bit of mayonnaise, a little bit of hot sauce, slices of cheese. We're eating good.

[00:19:41]Okay, so we did we did have a little bit of water getting in here last night. That is not awesome.

[00:19:51]I don't know how good that is for the subfloor.

[00:19:56]Um, we we really got to get this the roof up before anything. I think the roof is our main priority so that stuff like this stops happening.

[00:20:07]It's just the weather is so unpredictable and it rains all the time.

[00:20:10]I don't know. I don't know how people do this, but most of it stayed dry. We're going to get all the water out of the tarp. I think there's a bunch of water sitting up there. And stain this wall up.

[00:20:25]connect them all, square up the walls, brace them from the inside with diagonal two eyes, and then climb up there and uh put the joist up, the floor joist for the second story. All right, so we have put this tarp down right here to hopefully minimize the damage. We're going to try to get all this water going off of this side right here because it's hanging over the edge the most over there.

[00:21:26]Nice. Not bad. Very minimal water getting in. All right, we got the tarp off. Uh, it's pretty dry everywhere except for over here.

[00:21:39]And now, yeah, we just got to take all this lumber off of here, stand this wall up, put the double top plates on, go from there.

[00:22:12]Okay, we got it all squared up and we got some diagonal bracing making it sturdy. Now we can climb up there and put these big old floor joists on. Double top plates are up. We got we got these little brackets to hold the floor joist. And dude, there's we got nails cuz I couldn't find the screws we needed for these. Um, but I did find the nails we needed, so I just decided to do that. But there's 10 nail holes in each one of these and we need two per thing. So that's 20 per thing. What's 20 times?

[00:22:54][laughter] We're going to try to just line up each joist with one of these studs on the back wall. And that should be good. I don't know how we're going to make sure we get them the right depth. Like we might need to put that 16footer up first and screw that down so we can just butt them up against it.

[00:23:23]Okay. You know what? GoPro battery might be charged. So, guys, we got to get this 2x10 by 16 up on there and secure it down so that we have something to butt the joist up against.

[00:24:12]Okay, guys. Guys, here's the deal. We figured out how long these joists got to be. They got to be 11t. They got to be 139 and 5/8 in. So, we got them up there. We We started connecting this one up there with this bracket and then realized these nails are 3-in nails and they would go all the way through this joist. And so, we're not going to do that. We got to go get something else.

[00:24:36]Smaller nails or maybe some screws. Um, but what's cool is we're actually right about at the 20 minute mark. So, we're going to end that there. And I hope you guys enjoyed so much.
