The program effectively gamifies open source, but the heavy emphasis on "free swags" risks prioritizing leaderboard rankings over genuine technical depth. It’s a classic case of "resume-driven development" disguised as community building.

But wait, this is not just another open source program anymore because for the first time ever they have launched a brand new agents for India track, which means now you can build real AI agents solving real problems. Okay, while learning AI automation, developmental skills, and completely it is free of cost. And trust me, after watching this video, your entire perspective about GSoC is going to change. Because in this video, we'll cover everything in detail. What is the program? What is the new track? How you have to participate? What are the rewards, leaderboard system, selection tips, and how you can manage your chance to win. So, make sure to subscribe to channel, like the video, also hide the video, and share it with everyone. So, let's come to the program page and see what is GSoC that is also known as Girl Script Summer of Code. Now, with the name, a lot of you are having confusion.
They have mentioned Girl Script. So, can males also participate? Or people from other genders can also participate? So, yes, there is no gender limitation that only females can participate. Anyone can participate in this amazing opportunity that to completely free of cost. So, let's move ahead.
Now, first of all, what is exactly GSoC?
Okay. So, it stands for, as I said earlier, Girl Script Summer of Code, and it is India's one of the biggest open source program organized by Girl Script Foundation. Okay.
Now, here every year thousands of students and developers, mentors, contributors participate in it to learn, collaborate, and build real-world projects. And according to the official website, they have clearly mentioned 50,000 plus people have already applied every time. Okay. And they have 500K plus community members. Now, the biggest reason is that why people love GSoC because it's beginner-friendly. Even if you don't know coding anything, you can apply for this opportunity. It's completely free. And the most important thing, it helps us to improve our GitHub profile and get some cool projects and get a chance to contribution.
Now, biggest change over here is that now they have added agents for India track. This time they are introduced this amazing track. Earlier, it was mostly based on contribution guidelines, okay? Means there we have to just uh uh just work on any issue, create a pull request, it gets merged, just like we have Hacktoberfest. Similarly, it was only open source contribution, but now they want builders, real creators, people who can build AI-powered solution. For example, in AI for agent track, sorry, agents for India track, what you can build, you can build something related to healthcare automation, regional language AI, >> [snorts] >> AI tools for education, smart assistant, productivity system. Like this, you can build something. You must have participated in the Chainlink Academy application or Prompt to War's challenge, then you must have seen that thing. In case you don't know about those two event, I've attached the link in the description, from there you can watch it. Now, here the first track we have agents for India track, okay? In this track, what will happen, you'll learn about AI and automation, build deploy AI agents, work on real-world use cases, and get exposed and get exposure to AI ecosystem and tools, okay?
Second track is related to uh open source contribution. Here, you'll be working on open source project. You'll be improving GitHub profile and learning to collaborate with people.
Now, here it's uh beginner friendly or not, a lot of you are thinking. So, it is completely beginner friendly. If you don't know open source, if you don't know what is AI, can beginners join? A lot of you are having these questions also. So, simple answer is yes. Because this is designed for learning, and you don't need to be any expert for part start, blah blah blah.
You don't need to be an expert developer to start. Even if you know basic HTML, CSS, Python, or just get the fundamentals, you can still participate.
Now, here we have multiple roles over here. A lot of you're thinking that application is closed or open. So, currently it is open. Yesterday [snorts] only I filled and made a video in Hindi.
Okay. So, I made a video in Hindi and I also got selected within 24 hours. So, here we have multiple roles over here, right?
So, let's come to the apply section first of all and I'll show you the next step. So, how to apply?
But, before applying, you can see these are the roles. Okay, multiple roles are there. Contributor roles are there, mentor roles are there, project admin.
Okay.
So, contributor means this is for student. If you are a student, you can apply for this amazing opportunity. Here you have to contribute and build some projects. Do not worry if you need a guide, you will comment down below.
Mentor who guides. For example, I am your mentor, I'm helping you to understand the Arcade program, so I'm your mentor. If you are experienced, you know open source, then you can apply as a mentor.
If you are having big projects like we can see, uh Telegram is also open source, uh Twitter is also open source.
Similarly, you're having a big AI project or any open source project which you want people to learn and contribute, then you can apply as a project admin.
Team volunteer means if you want to help people to manage the event and some projects over here, then you can apply for it. Ambassador is just like a Google Gemini Ambassador program. So, if you want to apply, I'll make a separate video for this amazing opportunity. You can watch that.
So, this is a chapter. Just like we have a Google DSC club. Similarly, if you want to start a chapter in your campus where you'll be hosting event, you can start a chapter. For these two, I'll make a separate video because it will become lengthy. Now, how to apply? You have to just click on apply now over here. Here you have to verify your email. So, you have to enter your personal Gmail, which is active. Okay.

After that, you have to select your city, country, university, college, organization.
And you have to enter your GitHub profile, LinkedIn profile, all the things over here. You can create your account over here.

And that is https, like this.
Okay.
You have to add this. Okay. Make sure the dot is removed. You can see a dot is there, means full stop is there. You have to remove that.
And just come down, save and continue.
Now, you have to select your role, whether you want to select it as mentor, project admin, or mentee. So, if you're participating as a student, you can just select the mentee.
Continue.
Now, here, you have to select the track.
You can select both also, or any one.
So, I'm just selecting both. You can just select your current skill level.
You can select beginner.
Now, here, you can just select any of the languages. If you want to select any other thing, you can just click on other, also.
Now, here, you have to mention why you want to participate in this opportunity.
So, just mention it. Okay. And then, what do you expect that how the program will help? You can write it. That also.
You can write in simple English. You can take the help from AI. Do not blindly copy-paste.
Okay.
Like you can mention, I want to participate, I want to learn about AI. Okay.
You can mention over here, I'll or I want to learn about open source also. You can just mention that thing also.
Okay, for enhancing your skills, all the things you can mention over here.
Now, here also you can just mention what you expect.
Like, learning to build AI agents, apps, webs, and the agent for India track.
Then just click on anytime you can mention over here.
Like, just mention 2-hour, 4-hour, 3-hour, and review, and just click on continue. Okay.
You can avoid this referral code because it is completely optional.
And just come down over here and simply click on continue.
And just come down and select the second one. I would like to request to contribution waiver.
And submit the application. Now, after you submit the application, it will take around 24 to 48 hours for the mail to get reviewed. And after that, you'll get a mail like this. So, after sometime, you'll get this type of email, mostly after 24 to 48 hours, sometimes even instantly also, that you have been accepted. And your contribution is now live. What you have to do, you have to go to the apply page, and there you have to just link the Discord account. Okay.
So, if I just open it, all things they have mentioned. Now, when you click on it, it will ask for your email verification. You have to just sign in.
Then they'll send you a one-time password, and then you have to log in.
Okay, if it is not working, just wait for sometime. Or you can just email us.
You can see, email us. Just mail them if you face any issue like whether the email OTP is not generating or anything is not generating for that case.
So, So is the registration process over here, right?
Now Now after you are selected properly, okay, after you are selected properly, now what you have to do?
You have to just work on it, okay? Like meanwhile you are getting selected, you can learn the basics of Git and GitHub, okay?
After that what you can do, you can see here we have a leaderboard system also.
So if I just come down, let me just show you the leaderboard, how it works.
So here you have to contribute to the projects which will be allotted to you once you are selected. You have to just check their Discord server and just contact for help.
They'll just share multiple projects.
From there you have to access the projects and just see the issues listed over here.
And then you have to work on that particular project. Your PR each merged, then you rank up the leaderboard and you can just get some cool goodies, okay? If you are getting better recognition, means you are performing well, you'll be getting cool swag, certificates and all the things.
So this was a quick video. If you have any query or you want a detailed guide, okay, after selection what we have to do, you can comment down below. I'll make a video for that also.
Thank you. Goodbye and have a great day.
