[00:00:22]Now, let's get started. A clogged or blocked milk duct happens when milk isn't drained well from one area of the breast.

[00:00:31]These are the common signs. A small tender lump, a firm or sore area, mild redness, discomfort that often improves after breastfeeding or expressing the milk.

[00:00:44]Most people with clogged duct feel well overall.

[00:00:48]The pain [clears throat] is usually limited to one area of the breast, and many clogged ducts improve within a day or two with regular milk removal and supportive area.

[00:00:59]Now, what is mastitis? Mastitis is inflammation of the breast. Sometimes it's related to an infection, and sometimes it isn't.

[00:01:08]So, these are the warning signs that may include increase in breast pain, a warm swollen or red area on the breast, fever, chills, body ache, feeling usually tired or generally unwell.

[00:01:21]>> [snorts] >> Unlike a clogged duct, mastitis often affects your entire body, not just your breast. Symptoms can appear suddenly and [clears throat] may become worse if left untreated.

[00:01:35]Here is a simple way to remember it. A clogged duct usually causes a localized lumps, mild soreness, light or no fever, improvement after feeding or expressing the milk, a larger painful area that is warm or red, fever or chills, flu-like symptoms, pains that continue to worsen instead of improving. If you're unsure which one you're experiencing, it's always the best to speak with your health care provider.

[00:02:03]And this is when you should call a doctor. You develop a fever or chill, the redness spreads, your pain becomes more severe, you feel generally unwell.

[00:02:13]Symptoms isn't improve within 24 hours of supportive care.

[00:02:17]You have repeated episodes of breast inflammation. Get a medical advice as early as you can to prevent complications and ensure you receive a proper treatment if needed.

[00:02:30]Remember, a clogged duct often improves with regular milk removal and supportive care. While mastitis may cause whole body symptoms like fever and chills and may require medical attention.
