Moses delivers a masterclass in harmonic economy, stripping away the mystique of jazz improvisation through rigorous and practical deconstruction. It is a rare pedagogical work that values structural integrity over mere stylistic imitation.

JAZZY CHORDS I USED (FULL BREAKDOWN) 🎹Added:
Hey there, are you looking for some nice jazz chords to spice up your playing?
Then this [music] video is definitely for you. Stay tuned. Hello everyone, welcome to my YouTube channel once again.
>> [music] >> In today's video I'm going to be breaking down the video I posted some days back. It's a video of me playing the song You've Been Faithful, Lord in the key of C major.
>> [music] >> All right, so [music] before I get right into it, let us watch what I played.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> Honestly, this is really amazing.
Really, really amazing. Okay, so I started off with a chord movement. This.
All right. So the first one is this.
This is a C13th chord. So the left plays [music] C, E flat, and then the right plays B and E.
So but you're going to grace the note from D sharp, [music] which is E flat, to E.
So you have this.
>> [music] >> And then the second chord is So you have this, and then this.
>> [music] >> So the left plays B, and A, and then the right plays E and G.
So we have this.
>> [music] >> The next chord.
The left plays B flat and E flat, and then the right plays D and G.
All right. [music] So you have this.
And the next [music] last one.
So the left [music] plays A, C sharp, and then G.
And the right plays C sharp and G.
So all together we have >> [music] >> So take note, when you start the first chord, you'll be holding on to A.
And [music] then when you move to the second chord and to the other chords, you hold on to G. So you have >> [music] >> All right.
That's for that. And then I went ahead to play the melody of the song.
You've been faithful, Lord.
Me, me, fa, me, fa. Right?
So when I played this fa, I played the chord. [music] This is an A augmented seventh flat ninth chord So the left [music] plays A, and then you stretch.
Play C sharp above.
And then [music] the right plays G, and B flat, and then D flat and F.
So you have You've been All right. So it was at this [music] point that I applied the swing pattern.
Yeah. [music] So the idea is that you're going to play a root and then a chord.
So you have You've been faithful.
>> [music] >> Yeah. So you're playing a root and then [music] a chord.
All right. So You've been faithful.
The left plays D, and then the [music] chord is a D minor seventh chord. So you have D, F, A, and then C.
That's for [music] the left. And then for the right you have F, A, C, D, F.
>> [music] >> So You've been faithful.
>> [music] >> Now we're on to the five chord.
All right. So you have the same same thing. Play the root [music] and then the chord.
All right. So You've been faithful.
>> [music] >> All right. So you have G, and then the chord. [music] The left plays F, A, B, and D. And the right plays F, A, B, D, F.
>> [music] >> So You've been faithful.
>> [music] >> Here, the left plays the same thing.
G, and then the right plays [music] B, D, E, and G.
Da da.
Next chord.
The right plays A, C, E, and F.
And then da This is a [music] C major seventh chord.
All right. So You've been faithful.
All right.
>> [music] >> All right.
>> [music] >> Then I I applied something.
Just a movement from E minor >> [music] >> to F sharp in dominant seventh to F major seventh.
So you have >> [music] >> So You've been faithful.
All right. Just taking [music] it slowly.
All right. And that is what same [music] chord we played earlier.
You're faithful.
E.
>> [music] >> E.
E.
Then [music] I played the same thing I played at the beginning.
>> [music] >> You notice the first one I played it um I I combined the low octave and then the high octave. But here >> [music] >> I'm just playing it at this octave.
>> [music] >> And You've been faithful.
Then [music] I I played the bebop lick.
A bebop is just an [music] eight note musical scale that has all that has chromatic passing tones. That's just the simplest way I can explain it.
So you're adding chromatic passing tones to an eight note scale. So if we have this, >> [music] >> that's a major scale, right? And then if maybe you start adding stuff like >> [music] >> all of that, those chromatic passing tones, that's what makes it bebop.
Yeah. Just the simplest explanation I can give. All right. So I played You've been faithful.
>> [music] >> I applied the bebop lick.
>> [music] [music] >> So if you see what I just did, if you see what I just did, you you will realize that I was just making use of chromatic passing tones.
I was just adding them to the major scale.
All right. Then I went ahead to play Yeah, something [music] like this. And All right. I make sure I keep my melody [music] intact, no matter how I want to improvise the the melody. I make sure I keep the melody intact.
So this [music] is a D13th sus2 sus4 chord.
The left plays D, G, A, C, and [music] then the right plays E, G, B, D.
All right.
Da da [music] da.
I played the lick in there.
>> [music] >> All right.
So the thing is just try to be creative. All right.
[music] The reason why I played this >> [music] >> I just wanted to apply more like a 2-5-1 in a key and then come back to the initial key I was playing. So if you see, I did this.
>> [music] >> Now this is a two on C sharp.
>> [music] >> This is a five on C sharp, and then Yeah.
>> [music] >> But if you check the video, I did not make use of the five. But that was what was in my head while I was playing. So I only made use of the two and then came back to the five of the initial key. All right. So I played >> [music] >> This is the the lick.
>> All right.
And he is [music] forever.
And he played this chord.
>> [music] >> All right. So, you might be wondering, why is this guy Why is he even playing this kind of chord? Now, remember I said I make sure I don't [music] joke with my melody.
So, I have he is forever. [music] If I'm to substitute any chord and I'm to substitute this chord, I would have just played the major major the >> [music] >> major chord.
All right.
But, I just wanted to substitute the chord. So, I had to look for something else.
>> [music] >> Approach it from a different key.
And then I realized, oh, fine. C is the leading note on C sharp.
So, that's why I played this.
So, I have [music] he is [music] forever.
