Saturday Morning Weekend Forecast

[00:00:04]All right, I'm Utah's weather authority Nate Larson and we've got a shot that came in from Ogden, Jamie Richards showing some of the clouds that are still kind of hugging Ben Lomond Peak.

[00:00:13]We've got wet grass out there. The lawns got a good dose of some much needed moisture from Mother Nature. In fact, Ogden area just over half of an inch at the Ogden Airport. Riverdale's at over 6/10 of an inch, almost 7/10 reported there. Pleasant Grove, Utah County almost.6. Beaver, Southwest Utah showers have cleared out. We've seen clear skies take over there, but they had.36 in the last 24 hours. And then Salt Lake City is closing in on 2/10 of an inch. Heber Airport, Wasatch back there at about 2/10 of an inch, about a quarter of an inch of moisture across at least the Heber Valley. We're going to continue to see active showers into the afternoon hour, at least early afternoon before it clears out. We're going to have dry weather take over for Sunday, so it's not going to be a washout of a weekend even though we started off a little soggy. I know we've had reports of yeah, ball games getting rained out across much of northern Utah valleys with all the moisture we've had. But we're going to dry out tomorrow. Things should look pretty nice out there on Sunday and then we're getting hot again next week with temperatures climbing back about 10° above normal statewide.

[00:01:17]You can see the counterclockwise rotation, low pressure system rotating through northeastern Utah into southwest Wyoming. So we're getting that wrap-around northerly flow in place this morning as the storm continues to pull north and east, these showers will start to diminish. We'll hang on to some cloud cover throughout some of your Saturday afternoon. But for the most part, additional shower activity models are only giving us a few hundredths of an inch for a lot of the Wasatch Front.

[00:01:43]Could still see a more significant amount for Cache Valley, Southwest Wyoming and of course our northern mountain areas. So after this storm system, yeah, we're back to goose egg as far as any chances of moisture through this next work week. Even though we'll have kind of a sagging trough of low pressure or a bit of a cut-off low pressure system over the four corner region. Should help keep temperatures from getting near record highs, but we're going to be above average. Next storm system maybe next Sunday into Monday next week. Mostly just wind, a slight drop in temperatures with what we're seeing right now this far out. Highs today's upper 60s near 70° for much of northern Utah. Just 49 in Evanston will be about 79 in Moab and mid 80s in St. George with 90s in store again tomorrow. Mid to upper 90s this next work week with breezy winds. We'll be watching for critical fire danger as we're looking at some stronger wind speeds by middle of the work week.

[00:02:38]Northern [snorts] Utah Valley rain changes over to just partly cloudy skies this afternoon. We'll be near 70° mid 70s tomorrow. Low 80s on Monday. Plan on temperatures climbing into the upper 80s. Mostly sunny skies. Breezy winds Wednesday, Thursday. And then we will have 90° so get 10 almost 15° above normal by the end of the work week.
