The Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP significantly improves upon the Switch One version by achieving a locked 60 frames per second (compared to the original's frame rate issues), faster loading times, and a new 'shooter mode' game feature, though some texture popping issues persist; the $5 upgrade is recommended for fans seeking the best possible experience, though the original Switch One version can still be played on Switch 2 hardware with acceptable results.

Lollipop Chainsaw Is FIXED On Nintendo Switch 2?!本站添加:
Wow, this is kind of funny to be here once again. Now, some of you might be asking yourself, Max, why is it funny that we're here? This should be a traditional Monado Max video. Nothing different about it. Well, yes and no. A lot of you probably aren't familiar with the fact that I did a video review on Lollipop Chainsaw Repop when it first came out for the Nintendo Switch One. In fact, I believe I was one of the first people out there to get their video review out on the Switch port because the company was not giving review codes.
Most video game journalists and companies out there also didn't get a review code. But that night, I stayed up till midnight waiting for this because I knew something was up with the Switch version. And I was not very positive about playing it on the Nintendo Switch.
In fact, it was one of my most hated videos at the time when it first came out. And I'm saying at the time because that quickly changed. The reason why that video got so much hate is because I was talking about how the game was a frame rate mess. And no one actually believed me. And I think it just came to the point because of it being one of the first videos out there on the game. All these video game journalists didn't get their reviews out. They thought it was impossible for this to be the case. But literally 12 hours later, once the video was up for a while, it was starting to pick up a lot of positive comments because people were saying that I was correct about the issues of the Nintendo Switch version. And now that video is one of my most popular videos of all time. On top of that, it has way more likes than dislikes now. Overall, it has a very positive response. And I'm just laughing because there was so many people out there in the beginning that was suggesting that Lollipop Chainsaw was not bad for the Switch and it wasn't a frame rate mess. And then to see the big jump of people being like, "Oh, wow.
This guy was right. This game is a frame rate mess." I don't know. I think it's funny, especially considering that we are here once again talking about the game as the Nintendo Switch 2 edition dropped for it, which I got to say, I was surprised when they announced that Lollipop Chainsaw was going to have a Nintendo Switch 2 edition because this game is actually running a lot better now, just if you put the Switch One version on the Switch 2. I'm guessing the developers had an unlocked frame rate behind Lollipop Chainsaw because on the Switch one when you play it on the Switch 2, it's now consistently getting at that 60 frames per second. It's one of many games to run at 60 frames per second without an official update when it comes to playing it on the Switch 2.
And that was really one of the biggest issues of Lollipop Chainsaw Repop, particularly with the Switch because the frame rate on that was an absolute mess.
And from my understanding, I think it was a little bit of a mess on all platforms, but the Switch version got the worst of it. While I was puzzled, it still had me intrigued that this was getting a Switch 2 edition, and I decided that I would do an updated video review on the game whenever it came out.
You see, I told myself that last year because this was supposed to come out November of last year cuz it kept getting backto back delays, which puzzled me because all they announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition was going to come with was a resolution boost, the visuals looking better, 60 frames per second, and mouse mode. These are all features that I would not think would take almost a year to get here, but I guess it did. And it kind of worried me that it was going to be pretty bad considering all of the delays that happened because this was all similar things that happened when it was supposed to come out with all the other platforms in 2024. The game consistently was getting delayed. I think at one point had a one-year delay. They were saying they were changing everything up.
There was so much with that game and it just kind of had me worried that history could be repeating itself with the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. But luckily, that is not the case here because I have spent a lot of time testing out the Nintendo Switch 2 version. And I wanted to tell you guys my honest thoughts on the game now, especially now that it is a playable game on the Switch 2 hardware, which I feel like on Switch One, I think a lot of us can agree that game was pretty bad on there. And to now have it at a playable state is pretty exciting. Now, you guys know how we do our Switch 2 performance reviews. We start off with how it plays in docked mode. And let's talk about the visuals.
Obviously, they were hyping up that this game was getting a big visual boost. And to be completely honest with you, it has a visual boost, but it's not the craziest improvement that I have ever seen before. In fact, I've seen other Nintendo Switch 2 editions have a way better visual boost, but the game already visually looked good on the Switch One. To be honest, that was the one thing that I was able to give the game props on. And to now have it, I guess, be a little bit better on Switch 2. I guess that's a plus. But if you're really looking for a crazy visual improvement, I don't think this upgrade is for you because it's not the craziest thing ever. But I don't want it to sound like I'm downplaying it because once again, the game still looks visually good on the Switch 2. One positive that was very noticeable at the start was the loading screens. It is so much more faster, and that was one of the issues with the Switch One version. Obviously, when you're playing levels, you'll have times that you need to load in stuff that's happening midlevel. So, you will enter a loading screen and it will take forever on the Switch One. Luckily, now with the Switch 2 edition, I think the most that I was waiting in terms of a loading screen, I feel like it was like 5 or 6 seconds to be honest. And I'm sure people want to know what's the frame rate like. Now, I mentioned before that on the Nintendo Switch 2, if you put the Switch One version, the game had an updated 60fps automatically. However, the game wasn't consistently at that 60 frames per second. It would drop, but it wasn't like a crazy drop. It was probably going under 50 frames per second, for example. It wasn't the most dramatic thing, but now with the Switch 2 version, at least when it comes to doc, it is at a locked 60 frames per second. And I really tested this game out because there will be moments within the game that you could have like 40 enemies all at once on the screen. And that was the part that I was curious to see if we were going to see any dips.
And surprisingly, once again, in docked mode, there was no dips at all, which I think is super impressive considering the type of game that Lollipop Chainsaw is with the hack and slash mechanics behind it. This is something that you were seeing on all consoles that it would drop and especially on the Switch One, it had drastic jobs. Now, at the start of the video, I talked about how they added a brand new game mode to this, and that is mouse mode. Now, I'm sure a lot of us are puzzled. How was mouse mode going to work with Lollipop Chainsaw? Because when that was announced, I was pretty puzzled. I was like, "Hey, I love mouse mode. I want more mouse mode games. But how in the world are you doing it with Lollipop Chainsaw? There's nothing there that can be used as a mouse." And they actually found a way. They called it shooter mode. It's something that you unlock after beating the game. And basically, you get to play every level within shooter mode. What shooter mode is is that you're shooting zombies. It's non-stop zombies coming at you at all angles and you're supposed to shoot them all basically, but it takes the best parts of the stage. It's not a whole level that you are playing, for example.
So, you'll see different parts of the level and then boom, it's done. These levels are extremely short. You're looking at two to three minutes. It's a fun mode and it can also get pretty chaotic, but unfortunately it's pretty short and I think that's kind of disappointing considering that this was something that was heavily hyped and the fact that the game got delayed so many times. I thought they were going to be doing a lot more with this mode. But unfortunately, it's a pretty short experience, but a fun experience. The only thing that the Nintendo Switch 2 edition didn't fix was some of the popping and texture issues that will happen throughout some of the levels.
For example, there was a part where I was mowing the zombies, and if you know what I'm talking about in the game, you'll know the level that I'm referring to. And the way that the textures were popping in was exactly how it looked on the Switch one. It also had some pretty bad popping within that level. These are things that I think they could definitely improve on, and I'm kind of surprised they didn't touch on it, considering how much more of an improvement this version of the game is than what it was on Switch One. Let's talk about my handheld experience of the game. The visuals still look good within handheld mode. There's not a drop, which I don't think any of us was expecting there to be a drop. However, let's talk about the frame rate a little bit. the game was consistently at that 60 frames per second. However, there were a few times that I noticed the game drop under that. Again, it's nothing crazy. It's not like it's the dramatic drop that you would see on the Switch One when stuff was going on. It was probably similar to what we talked about in the beginning of the video where if you put this game on the Switch 2 without the Switch 2 edition, you would see it be under 50 frames sometimes, but it quickly goes back up and it's honestly not a big deal at all. And I did test these parts that was dropping frames within handheld version onto the docked version of the game. And the dock version was totally fine. It didn't drop. It was only in handheld, which we have seen before. if you play a game in handheld mode that sometimes depending who's doing the port, what the game is, all that type of stuff that it can be a little bit different from a frame rate experience in handheld mode compared to docked, which I'm still a little puzzled by that since the Switch 2 screen has VRR. I would have thought that the capabilities of frame rates would be better within handheld mode because of that screen, but I'm not a video game developer. It's just something I've noticed that does happen with some of the third-party games. Again, that's not the craziest thing in the world. It's not something that I'm trying to downplay the Switch 2 version of the game. I'm just trying to be completely upfront on the problems that I noticed. And I don't even think that's a big problem. It's just a a slight problem. And that's everything that it offered for the Nintendo Switch 2. And to be completely honest, for $5, I guess that's a pretty good Switch 2 edition. I mean, you're getting a brand new game mode. However, I really thought that mode was going to be a lot more to it, especially with the backtoback delays. I really felt like we were going to be getting a lot more out of it. But for $5, if you are a big fan of this game and want to experience the best way possible on the Switch, then yeah, you definitely want to pay the $5 for it.
But truthfully, I don't think the Switch One version is bad to play on the Switch 2. I mean, the visuals aren't the craziest difference on Switch One to Switch 2. I'm definitely saying there's a difference when you put them side by side, but once again, it's not the craziest thing in the world. And the frame rate of the Switch One version on the Switch 2 is also not that bad. I mean, sometimes you're going to be dropping frames consistently, but it's not like you're dropping under 30. I guess it's ultimately going to depend how you will find this game because there's going to be a lot of ways that you can buy it on the Switch one and also the Switch 2 because there is a physical copy coming out there for the system and you might find ways that it's cheaper to buy it on Switch 2 than it is on Switch One. I think trying to figure out if it's worth the $5 or not is honestly going to come down to you, the person. If you want the best possible experience, then yeah, go ahead and spend the $5. However, if these problems that I discussed with the Switch One Edition playing on Switch 2 doesn't bother you, just play it that way. In terms of my score of the Switch 2 version of Lollipop Chainsaw, I guess it's safe to say that I can give this game a way higher score. I believe if I remember correctly, I I think I gave Lollipop Chainsaw like a four out of 10 for the Switch one. It might even be lower. I might have gave it a five out of 10. I know it wasn't the highest score, but I will say there was some disappointment behind the new features as I thought there was more to it. So, I feel like the best that I could give the score of the Switch 2 Edition is an 8 out of 10. It's great to finally have this experience playable on a Nintendo system because it definitely was an experience that I could not recommend for people to play on the Switch One.
And even if the Switch One was your only console, it was pretty bad at launch. I believe they did do a lot of fixes, but it took months for the game to actually be at a decent playable state. But guys, I want to hear everything you have to say in the comments down below. Did you pick up the Switch 2 Edition? Are you happy with the upgrade? Did you think it was worth the money? Were you at all disappointed with what it actually came with when it came to that mouse mode?
because they were really advertising that this mouse mode thing was going to be the greatest thing of all time. And again, I'm not trying to say it was bad.
It was just incredibly short. I have a fun time with it. I mean, it feels like a whole arcade experience, but it was just too short. Make sure to backslash that subscribe button, like the video, check out the Twitter, Discord, Instagram, all that good stuff that's in the description below, and I will see you guys in the next video.
Peace.
