In the film 'Is God Is,' director Aleshea Harris employs a strategic narrative technique by withholding the full reveal of the antagonist father character until the film's climax, using flashback sequences to build audience anticipation and fear, which demonstrates how filmmakers can manipulate storytelling structure to enhance emotional impact and suspense.

IS GOD IS-ReviewAdded:
Is revenge really worth it or does it depend on who it is and what it's for?
Hey, I'm Jose and you could say I like movies and today we're talking Is God Is. Written and directed by Alicia Harris, Is God Is follows twin sisters Racine and Anaia played by Khadijah Young and Mallory Johnson. Two extremely close twin sisters living together just trying to scrape by. They grew up in the foster care system and we see that they both have severe burns on their bodies.
Racine's are mostly on her left hand and arm, but Anaia's go all the way up and cover most of her face. And that's because, and this is not a spoiler to say, when they were little kids their father tried to burn their mother alive and they ended up getting caught in it.
So they grew up their whole lives thinking their mother was dead until one day they get a letter from her. So for the first time in years they go to meet their mom, also known to them as God, played by Vivica A. Fox. And she really just requests one thing of her daughters and that is to make your daddy dead. Real dead. And eventually they reluctantly accept. Well, mostly it's Racine because she is by far the more violent one. And so our twins set out on the crazy journey to find and take out their father and the director describes their journey as kind of like a western in a lot of ways. And when I say this journey is crazy, I mean crazy. We meet a bunch of really great characters like Divine, the preacher and healer, Chuck, the lawyer, the other wife, and the other twins. All until we finally meet their father brilliantly played by Sterling K. Brown. But that's not before we hear a lot about him through these amazing flashback sequences. His character isn't even really given a real name in this film, I don't believe. I think they just refer to him as their father or the monster. And because of that there's a really cool directing choice that kind of follows the movie monster role of not showing your monster completely until the climax of the film.
And it's super effective in selling how scared we are supposed to be of him and he's a chilling character. The sisters perfectly carry this movie on their shoulders. As twins they're very much alike in a lot of ways, but they're extremely different in certain ways that are very key to the story. And the dynamic and chemistry that these two have is everything. I don't think I was prepared to like this as much as I did and I really did. And it's crazy that this is Alicia Harris's directorial debut and she killed this It's definitely not for everybody. There's a lot of dark humor and it gets pretty violent, but if you don't mind those things it's a crazy ride. But have you seen Is God Is yet? If you have, what What you think? And if you haven't, go check it out and come back and let us know. Also, the posters for this movie are dope. This one and this one.
