Swanstrom expertly demonstrates that winning is about the physics of weight reduction just as much as raw power. This technical breakdown of component trade-offs is essential viewing for anyone serious about performance engineering.

I Shouldn’t Be Showing This… I Have Always Wanted One!!!Añadido:
Man, there's a lot of stuff going inside the shop, guys. A lot of stuff is going on. Well, Jesse and Turbo were able to service money bag and give it brand new rods, springs, pistons ready to go.
Also, they came in here and they got the new TBM brakes on. Shout out to TBM.
We've been using them on a lot of our builds here lately and over the years. I hit them up, asked them, "Hey, do you have the parts to be able to swap this over?" Todd's been driving Moneybag and uh he said, "Man, the brakes are just not that good." And that is true. The brakes are a little wore out on Moneybag. So, we hit TBM up. They got the stuff to me the next day. Did y'all know that you can set up an Uber to be able to deliver parts? I did not know that. instead of driving, you know, all the way down south and trying to get the stuff. Uh, you know, what's the difference between having someone get inside a vehicle versus having the parts get inside a vehicle? So, I set up an Uber. They TBM uh helped me out tremendously for uh getting uh getting the stuff inside the Uber. They delivered it to us, and you can see the guys got it on. Brakes are bled. Uh just pumping it with your hand, I was able to push 750 PSI. I know we got good brakes.
Uh I know Todd's going to have good brakes and we're going to get back out and testing with him here in the next week or so. Another thing that we worked on here in the shop was swapping the engines over to a wet sump. We uh basically got rid of the dry sump tank that was right here. We had to swap over to a wet sump pump and a wet sump uh oil pan. Got it all done. Had to replplum some lines. We saved 30 lb off of this car by swapping over to a wet sump system. 30 lb. It was like 29 and a4.
But 30 lb off the front of the car by swapping over. Now there is some pros and cons to it. The, you know, pro of it is we save some weight. Con of it is now all your oil is inside your pan. So, if you do have a rod break or something happens, um, you know, you you do take the chance of putting a lot of oil out on the track or underneath the car. So, we do have to be safe about that. And that's where Straoud Safety comes into play. We just got these new Straoud Safety engine diapers in to be able to go underneath the bottom. And these right here, they go inside uh, and they collect all the oil. The good thing I like about these deal is that they have this quick lock deal. They're going to mount on the bottom of the headers. Once you mount them up, then you just clip them in. That's that's the that's the beauty of it. Uh is to be able to hold everything underneath. We just had uh a motor that expired in Todd's car and slung a rod out and not one drop of oil got on the racetrack. So, the bags do work. We try not to do it again. Um, we do maintenance our stuff. We try to keep up with it, but every now and then you do have a parts failure. So, brakes are bled. This car is ready to go. We are waiting on some clamps to get be able to bolt to the back bottom side of the header and then we're going to throw that diaper on and we're ready to go back to the track with this car. We got our package department. Now, that's one good thing we got going on with these two guys here. They've been getting the shop all cleaned up. Shop is cleaned up.
You can see all our rear gears are over there. Uh we got a lot of rear gears, a lot of center sections. Uh they're getting everything cleaned up. They've been working on the cars. They actually have been working on Bluetooth. What did y'all have going on with Bluetooth and why it wasn't firing up?
>> Just had a little wiring issue.
>> You able to get it fixed? Yeah.
>> Will it fire up now?
>> Yeah.
>> I don't think so. Go try it.
>> Sure.
>> I don't think so.
>> Now watch this thing not fire up.
>> They've been uh they've been working on they've been working on the old Monte Carlo over there as well. Uh I think we're going to be taking these out.
Going to go play around with them.
See if this thing fires up. It's been a while since we ran Bluetooth.
Oh yeah.
Oh, we're ready to go.
So, we ain't got no more firing up issues. N >> we're ready to rock. And then we got old Monty Carlo over here. here. We got to get this one fired up. It looks like they're getting the charger on it. Uh our repo man showed up and took my wheels, guys. I forgot to pay my bill.
So, they uh they they took the wheels back. I'm trying to figure out how to come up with the money to be able to get our wheels back so we can go back racing. But, as you see right now, we'll be down for a little bit because we don't have no wheels. I know a lot of people are going to take that joke and they're going to run with it. Um but no, we took the wheels off. I had the guys uh basically dismount everything on them, take the calipers, the brakes, everything all 100% off of them and uh the rotors. Uh we have sent them out because we are getting them powder coated cuz we are going to be working on wrapping that car how we originally were going to wrap it at the beginning of the year. Just have been a little bit of a time delay. So, uh we will be getting that car wrapped and part of the wrap is having gloss black wheels. So, we're over here. Jesse and them are going through everything. So, these straps here should be the same ones that we run on Survivor and I want to start swapping them out with everybody. But, we get all our packages in. Uh, shout out to our UPS guys, our FedEx guys, Amazon, you know, they help us out. They put everything right over here. Stuff that we don't get that gets left up at the front of the house or the front of the property, Jesse goes and grabs. But all our packages come in right here and on this shelf. And then we go through, make sure everything's good because there's times that we order stuff and stuff gets misplaced. and now how big the shop is.
We'll we'll set something down or one of the shipping companies will set something down and we won't be able to find it and we won't find it for weeks or or a month later. So, we just go through everything now and we get that 100% done and be able to load it up in our trailer or load it up in Rick and Todd's trailer. Also, guys, I want to talk about the new product that just came in and that is the hub dyno. Huge shout out to Dinocom for getting us our hub dyno. We are going to uh slowly get it put over to the other side of the shop where it need it's supposed to be and we are going to get it wired in plumbed uh to get ready to be able to start making dino pools. Um I'm excited for it. My dad's excited for it. We're going to be able to learn stuff while we're here inside the shop, you know, trying to find horsepower, trying to find, you know, uh a good fuel map tuneup before we go to the racetrack.
When you go to the racetrack, you got to play factors of is the track going to be good? Is the weather going to be good?
You know, are we shaking the tires?
Well, when you're on the hub dyno, none of that happens. So, we're going to be able to put these to work and find some horsepower for our program and our customers program. So, huge shout out to Dinocom for getting this shipped out to us. Uh we're getting the shop finished up to be able to have an electrician come in and wire everything, all the lights, uh hook up our deal for this.
This is a singlephase system. So, we'll get that hooked up and we'll see which vehicle inside the shop will be the first one that gets put on our hub dyno.
Sooner or later, that hub dyno is going to make its way over here. Why is there a blower on the ground?
>> Who put the blower on the ground?
>> Jesse, I'm going to pick it back up.
>> I was stupid. I was like, did he really put that? I was like, "Hey, you ain't put no He didn't put no nothing on >> nothing, dude. Well, dude, just set my blower down on the ground." But uh the hub dyno will be going over here. You can see we got our two exhaust fans. Um we will be going through and uh getting that stuff all wired up, ready to go.
Also, prenup. A lot of people have been asking about prenup. We found out that we're not allowed in the class. So, I went ahead and purchased the carbon fiber pieces again for the car. And we are going to we're we're focusing on Promod right now. Um I really want to perfect the Promod deal and I'm having fun with it, but I am putting some money to the side. I've already purchased the carbon pieces. I'm going to be putting money uh to the side to be able to uh get enough funding to be able to send this car to Wizard Race Cars. We are going to let him rebody the car and make the car back with the carbon fiber pieces. Um with with you know, no racing for all steel, all glass. There's no point in having it. We'll keep the stuff over here, hang it up in the shop. It was cool to have. It was fun while it lasted, but uh prenup is just it's just too damn fast. Too damn fast. And it is a little scary going down the track with the with the steel doors and the real glass cuz I always uh have that fear that if they're going to break or something while going down the track, the glass shatters or or something something crazy happens. So, we don't want to have that no more. So, we're going to go ahead and give Prenup finally some TLC. Uh, we're going to order the roof, the quarters, uh, the rocker panels, the deck lid, everything, uh, from Lexus and have Jason at Wizard Race Cars rebody the car. Then, we will get some body work done to it.
Hopefully, we can get some weight out of the car because, you know, this car has been wrecked a couple times. It's been painted a couple times, a lot of bondo on it. and uh then we will go ahead and get the bodywork done and put a fresh wrap on it. I don't know what the actual game plan with this car is. There's a couple different classes that I've looked into running uh towards the end of 2026 going into the 2027 season. Uh but once we get a little closer, we'll we'll knock that out. We also have these two uh like my golf ball shot. You know, I hit the golf ball right there. Landed right there. Uh but we got uh we got the wagon back here uh in our cutless. We're going to start working on that now that we're getting into the summer months.
You know, we we'll have time with having Turbo and Jesse here. We're going to get some things knocked out. We're going to start bringing finally some average normal content to y'all. We We got the big racing down packed. We got the programs running good and they are self running. Now it is time to have some fun with it. That's also what I've noticed in the videos here lately. Every time we go out, we're just running these cars.
We're so we're so serious with the car and we're trying to make it work. We're trying to go fast. There's a lot that goes into it. And at the end of the day, I'm not going to lie to you, the content gets boring. You watch the same thing over and over again. Um, every now and then we might be able to go a personal best and do a little bit better, but for the most part, you know, you either shake the tires or you go down the track. Uh, we're going to try to really attack the IH season. But I do feel those two cars back there, Bluetooth the Monte Carlo, I think that is the content that I am trying to push oursel into. So that is our game plan moving forward in probably the next month, month and a half is to start getting those ready and figuring out what we got to do to be able to get to the track and have some fun with it. So bring up, she's just going to sit over here and wait until we can do a little bit of running and uh testing with her. Uh but and then we will do the conversion to be able to get it ready for next year. So guys, now that you have gotten a little bit of an update from us around the shop and a lot of people like I man I think they do they tend to like to hear when I talk and giving me information. So um drop a comment down below. Let me know what you think. I think the last video that we put out of us just testing over there in Orlando um yes we made headway. Todd was still chicken footing it, but it it it kind of just got boring. And that's where I said, you know what? I got to go ahead and make a change. Um and and that's where, you know, we're going to start doing some more talking segments.
We're going to talk with Jesse, talk with Turbo. Um my my dad's been going back to the track with us. Uh he's just been so busy at work and messing with his trucks. So, there's been a lot that's uh been going on. But by the title, uh, if you haven't already heard about it, now you will about you're going to find out. I'm about to tell you actually.
I said that I wasn't going to build no more cars. I did say that.
But I had a proposition um, a deal that was presented to me that I had to go back and forth, back and forth for months. I had to uh figure it all out. I talked in real depth with uh my dad, with Lauren, uh my girlfriend, um with Todd, Rick, Bailey, you know, we're all pretty tight-knit family. Um, and I said I feel like that uh the the best of the best out there is Quartermax Racing.
Uh, so we we were able to strike a deal to build not only just a car, but a car that I have always wanted.
From the beginning of my career, I've always wanted a 1969 Camaro ProMod. Now, trust me, I love Prenup. I love the Corvette. I am very comfortable in Survivor. Um, I talked with Jason at Wizard Racecars before I made this decision. I told him what deal was on the table, what we were doing, and uh, we we both understood each other. He understood for me. Like I told him, he's still my guy. He has done uh, phenomenal work for me over the years, and he will continue to do work with me over the years. Um, he's building two cars for us right now. One is a 66 Nova. That's Rick Bailey's. And the other one is an OEM C7 Corvette that is for Todd Fainone. We are going to pick those cars up, I think, in less than less than a month.
And we're going to be wiring them and plumbing them here at the shop. So, he's also going to be taking in money bag here in the next couple weeks to be able to mount the new front end and build set of headers for it. So, I got told Jason, don't ever worry about it. you you were able to uh uh get me set up whenever I needed it and I I am loyal to the people that are loyal to me with all the companies that we work with. So um you know I told him I said but I think this deal will make our program and make our team better in the long run. So he understood and he said yeah you got to do what you got to do. I support it and I'll still support your deal. So, after I talked with everybody, we were able to strike this deal with uh Quartermax Racing in building a new 1969 ProMod Camaro.
Uh the build is already started. It's already on board. I do fly up there in a couple weeks. We will be videoing that up there, so you'll get to see it. But that's why I wanted to come on here and talk about it. Uh to let y'all know what our game plan is and when we're going up there. Um, we're at the stage right now where I have to pick a color. So, I have been going back and forth uh with my dad, Lauren, Todd, uh, Rick Bailey.
We're all in a group chat to where um, figuring out what color we're going to go with this car. Uh, so, you know, we're we're the car the car is coming along great. I'll actually just give you a little teaser real quick. I'll post a photo right here of where it's at inside the build. Um, but they are they are knocking it out the park. Um, I talk to Clyde, which is the owner of Porterax. I talk to Clyde two to three times, sometimes four times a week. Hell, there's sometimes I talk to him four times a day. Uh, you know, he has helped me out. We buy a lot of our parts from Quartermax. A lot of our other cars have Quartermax parts on it.
So, it just worked out uh great that way. I got to catch this car. So, you see a lot of uh quarterbacks builds out there and you know, one thing that really got my attention was Bubba Stanton's car at the IHR event. Um, and hearing about the weights that it comes in at, and I will be documenting this whole entire deal with this car, and we will be scaling it at the end and seeing what it weighs. Everybody knows I'm a little bit heavier of a driver. I'll tell you that. Um, I am on a diet right now, boys. Um, down 20 lbs. So, I want to go ahead and keep moving on with it so we can u uh try to get the car as light as we can. We will be talking about the combos and everything going inside the car here in uh a later video, but uh I promise you I am going all out with this build. I am doing the best of the best. I am trying to get it as light as it possibly can. One thing we learned about doing the wet sump deal. We were able to get some weight off of it. We are doing some stuff with our hoses and our fittings. Shout out to Roadrunner for uh to getting us hooked up with some lightweight material. We are linking up with Modern Racing and getting them to build us lightweight harnesses. We are trying to get as light as we possibly can because we are going to be running Outlaw Promod at the IH, excuse me, IHA events. So hopefully we can get the car done and race at the end of this year, but if not uh we will be racing at IH in 2027.
There's definitely a lot of thought and uh thinking there's definitely a lot of thought that's going into this build from all parties from Clyde at Quartermax to uh me being here at the shop uh Nunan race engines being able to get stuff there. We are going with um I I want to tell y'all. I want I want to tell y'all what combo we're going with.
Man, forget it. I'm just going to go ahead and tell you. So, we are going to go be going with a 521 cubic inch Nan Hemi, brand new motor. Uh everything's going to be brand new. It's going to go inside this car. Uh with a heartscharger.
We ran a heartsch charger on Rick Bailey stuff and it ran good. Unfortunately, he had an accident. A little incident uh that that is not allowing that car to race no more right now. Uh we are getting it fixed. Wizard Race Cars is fixing that car for us. But uh we are going to be putting a Hearts Charger on this setup. One of the reasons I feel like it makes more power than the screw right now and two the lightweight. It is about 40 lbs difference between the hearts charger setup and the screw blower setup. We have scaled everything here at the shop. Uh we have both setups ready to go and there's about a 40 lb difference. So 40 lb in the power adder, 30 lb in the wet sump versus the dry sump. We're at 70 lb difference right now. That's a lot. So things are just adding up as we're doing it. But uh everything on the car will be all Quartermax and Justin Swans from Swan Gang. I got my own steering wheel that's here now, guys. We reached out to a company. We were able to get them to have it built us. So, uh we will have that done. Um we have our own trans brake buttons. So, you're going to be able to uh soon purchase a trans brake button from Swan Gang Racing and a Swan Gang Racing steering wheel. Uh so, that's going to be a cool deal. But I can't wait to bring this to life with y'all. I think we're about three weeks out from flying up there and uh sitting in the car and videoing and looking over and seeing what all we got going on. Um when we go up there and we look at it, we will then release the color by then.
I'll have the color finalized. I'm like 98% sure that I have the color finalized right now. Um a name people, you know, are going to ask.
Uh, wow. Kyle Bush died.
Wow.
It just came across my phone, guys.
That's crazy.
NASCAR icon Kyle Bush dies at the age of 41.
Wow.
Woo. That's That's rough one right there. I'm not a real big NASCAR fan, but there is a few people that I do know um you know, and over there in the NASCAR world that I've watched when I've watched with my dad. So, that definitely sucks. Anybody passing away, that sucks.
So, uh we'll go ahead and pray for them tonight. Our heart goes out to them.
But, wow, dude, that's that's rough. Um but yeah, so when we go to Quartermax here in a couple weeks, we will have the color finalized. We'll show you the ins and outs. We'll show you around the build. I've already got Mly to them.
They want me to document the whole entire deal. They want to scale it at the end. They want to see how light it can get with our setup inside the car.
So, uh I'm excited for it. I I wanted I've been holding it back, but I finally wanted to release it to y'all uh that we are building a new 1969 ProMod Camaro with Quartermax Racing. So, let's get to it.
