This forecast serves as a stark reminder that in our hyper-regulated society, even the predictable rhythm of the tides requires a professional to explain basic safety to the masses. It is a necessary but sobering example of how institutional warnings have replaced individual common sense.

First Alert Forecast: Beach hazard in effect
Added:Turning now to the weather with meteorologist Kelly Moody. You know we have a lot of people in town, Kelly, and a lot of people like to go to the beach.
>> That they do.
>> And may not be aware of what's happening.
>> Yeah. So, here's how we're going to frame this.
You can go to the beach, but keep your distance. And maybe go during like the midday hours because as we get closer to the evening, that's when we're going to see our king tides come in. And those are some big high tides that are really expected to flood some of our coastal areas. We've got a lot going on at the coast. And so, if you're not an experienced swimmer, this is not a time to be experimenting with your first time out in the water. As we look ahead over the next couple of days, we are going to see continual high rip current risks. We have a moderate risk down toward Orange County beaches, but still it's going to be strong. Surf heights for both are expected to be upwards of 3 ft, possibly even up to 6 ft. We are going to continue to see those evening king tides near 7 ft. So, what that means is that we're going to continue to see high tide pushing in much higher than normal. And we've been seeing that that can erode at places that typically don't see this much moisture. So, continuing to also see high chances for those sneaker waves, occasional flooding. There's a lot happening here. So, we want to make sure that everyone's taking a lot of extra caution at the coast over the next couple of days. This might be a time to enjoy something else that Southern California has to offer, which is an abundance of sunshine. We'll be seeing it as we get into the afternoon hours.
Continuing to see a bit more cloud cover during the morning, our typical June gloom as we head into your Sunday morning building back in. I want to show you something interesting that I'm expecting to happen though as we look ahead toward your Monday. So, as we head into your Monday morning, again, greatest start. Watch what happens Monday afternoon up toward the Big Bear area. A little bit of extra cloud cover.
Now, that seems like, "Okay, whatever, a little extra cloud cover." But, it could come with a little bit of additional moisture. We're starting to get into the time of year where we see some of those cumulus clouds gathering around our mountain areas, and that could come with the extra little boost of subtropical moisture with the occasional passing quick shower, maybe even a thunderstorm.
So, that's something we'll be talking about in the days to come. As far as temperatures go, we've got low 80s over the next couple of days in tier Tuesday.
After that point, we do start to see some signs of a nice steady cool down to the mid-70s through the end of the week.
So, for all of you who are visiting, things do get a little bit cooler in the days ahead if these 80s are just a little too warm for you. It is 70s at the coast as we look ahead toward this next stretch. We'll keep that patchy fog around during the morning hours. Same goes for areas like the valleys and the Inland Empire, where temperatures are much, much warmer. We've got a good stretch of 80s for areas in the valleys.
A little bit of a mix of upper 80s and low 90s over the next several days for the Inland Empire. In the high desert, we've got upper 90s, a couple days where we could see even some low triple digits. We're going to keep those temperatures close to 110 for the low desert. 102 will be relief as we look ahead toward the later half of next week. And in our mountain communities, continuing to see little bit of extra heat with those 80s. We'll be monitoring for any possible chances of a quick passing shower for some of those mountain areas.
