The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre of 1919, where British General Dyer ordered his troops to fire on peaceful protesters in Amritsar, killing hundreds, sparked a revolution that was ultimately exposed through legal resistance by Sankaran Nair, a British-favored Indian lawyer who switched sides to defend the victims' rights and prove the massacre was a premeditated act of terror rather than self-defense, demonstrating how legal systems can be weaponized for justice against colonial oppression.

The traitor’s revenge! He’s back to give the British a living hellAdded:
[ __ ] Indian, why shouldn't I kill you like I killed him?
I'm sorry. Our movie starts today, before World War II in India, back when it was a simple village revolting against British rule. They wanted to stand up against injustice, but in a peaceful way, until the British general arrives with his soldiers, who by the way, half of them were actually Indians.
Without any warning shots, the soldiers are ordered to fire on the peaceful protesters, and they actually do it and start killing them. Everyone is trying to run for their lives, including a young guy named Bhagat, who is running to save his mother and sister. But he sees his mother trying to escape. She's about to jump into a well, so he grabs her before she jumps and dies. But her fate was a bullet that hits her, and she falls into the well dead. As for her son, he fell among many bodies that managed to protect him from the bullets, but he was screaming and calling for his mother and sister, whose fate he didn't know. And this was the least the British would do to the Indians until the time of World War I. So they told the Indians to join the British army until we win, and then we will leave your country. The Indians agreed in exchange for independence and fought in the ranks of the British army until it won its war.
But this [music] was a trick and a betrayal by the British, who laughed at them just like they laughed at half the globe, and they went back again to loot the Indian land and kill anyone who objected. At that point, the people got fed up and decided to start a revolution again. Here we see an important figure in Indian history, the lawyer Tyra Singh, and he is the Indian ruler of the country. When he saw that everything was going to be lost, he decided to seek help from one of the most important figures in the whole country, the most famous lawyer in all of India, Sankaran Nair. He was the only Indian who was on the Viceroy's Council, and also the only one the British loved [music] and trusted. He never lost a case, which is why he went in to plead in an important case against the revolutionary activist Kripal. Because of Naya's persuasive skills, he manages to convince the judge [music] and accuse Kripal of starting a group to teach students, who by the way, he was just a student among them, but Kripal was able to brainwash them to start a revolution. Because a British officer died from a bomb by these revolutionaries, for sure the one who did it is Kripal because he learned how to make bombs in the army. He manages to pin a huge charge on him that will end with his execution. As usual, he manages to win the case and get closer [music] to the British. While Kripal is going to meet his fate, he meets him and tells him that you are a very brilliant lawyer, but unfortunately on the wrong side. And very soon you will know that what you were doing is against you and against your country. So he hears the words from here and lets them go from here. At night he is having dinner with his wife and the British general along with his friend Tyra. At that time the general takes the opportunity and decides to give him an important medal, which is the title of first knighthood, a title no Indian had ever taken before.
The next day he is honored by the British viceroy because he became a distinguished knight due to his service to the British people. And he carries his sword while he is happy. On the other side we go to Bhagat who sees the death of his mother and sister in front of his eyes and carries his sister on his arm. At the same time one of his fellow countrymen sees the sword of a person honored by the ones killing his people. The Indian general who committed this massacre is with Tyra who tells him what we are going to do. The press will report these news. So he laughs and tells him, "This press is ours." And he sends his men to burn the newspapers that were made because they condemn the British. He makes them publish other things saying that the British army is a good army and they They the truth as they have been known to do all their lives. They also appoint a committee to investigate if this general really did that or not. Of course, the choice falls on Nair, who was among this committee, to show the truth that is in favor of the British, of course. He arrives in front of the court, and at that time he sees Bhagat, who is demanding justice.
He goes in to sit with the committee to know the matter. The Indian soldier tells them that the British forces attacked the terrorists and fired 2,500 shots, which killed 1,600 terrorists. So, Nair tells them, "And how many of our soldiers died?" Meaning the British. So, with clear hesitation, he tells him, "Not even one." This is something strange because no fighting happened. The massacre was from one side. Down in the court, we see the families of the victims gathered to sign papers, and none of them knows how to read or understands what this is until Nair arrives and decides to read by himself the part that is written. He tells her that the king "will give you 25 rupees as compensation for the killing of your son, and you will not have any right to file any complaint against the British." So, she is shocked because her son's life is worth 25 rupees.
>> [music] >> For the first time, Nair feels guilty when he looks into the faces of these kind people. So, he goes back to his office and starts reviewing this case, and this time he feels that something is wrong because the number written with him is not the same number that went to the hospital. So, he goes to Tyra and lets him know [music] all this. So, he tells him, "Are you doubting General Dyer or what? Just forget it and ignore it. And anyway, we will increase the compensation by 25 rupees and make it 30 rupees." Here, he feels that the lives of Indians are very cheap to the British. At the same moment, the general arrives and sits with Tyra, who we understand is the Indian ruler in the country. He tells the general there is an Indian officer who wants to make a complaint and brings him into his office. He looks very exhausted and the complaint [music] he has is against Dyer, who looks at him and says, "I remembered you." So, he tells him, "I will make a complaint against you to the ruler to get my right." So, he tells him, "Give me this complaint." And he tears it up in front of the ruler and kicks him out. Dyer laughs and says, Mr. Iyer also had a complaint, but the two of them are done for. He goes down from the court while he is shocked. At that time, he sees Bhagat lying on the ground. So, he asks a soldier about his story. He tells him, "This is a crazy guy who says he was in the massacre that happened and came out alive. And his mother and sister died in this massacre, and he wants to let people know the truth." But Iyer knows that nobody [music] will believe him, just like the complaint of the officer he saw upstairs. So, he goes back to his house and can't sleep from thinking. The next day, he goes to Bhagat's house to hear from him. And the young man welcomes him because he knows him and lets him in immediately and starts introducing himself. The first thing he tells him is, "I am the son of Mr. Kripal." So, he is shocked. The son is the one whose father he imprisoned. Bhagat explains to him that his father did all this to free his homeland and told me before entering prison that I am ready to sacrifice myself so that you, your mother, and your sister live in a free homeland. But my mother and sister already died in a massacre that no one could talk about, but I will keep following my father's dream so that we all live in a free homeland. So, he is moved by his words.
And this time, he knows that his father's words were right and that he is defending the wrong side. At night, there is a meeting with the Viceroy's committee, and all of them are happy with Dyer because he killed a large number of Indians. Iyer is sitting among them and sees them laughing. So, he decides to get up and go to the bathroom, but the Indian guard prevents him even after he told him that he is a member of the Viceroy's committee. So, Dyer comes and tells him, "Sorry, the laws say so." and points to a sign that says "Dogs and Indians not allowed." He leaves him and enters the bathroom. Nyer stands shocked and doesn't believe what is happening. The next day they hold a committee to say if Dyer was guilty or not and everyone signs that he is not guilty except Nyer [music] who decides to write that he is guilty.
But by the majority opinion, it is not ruled and he gets an acquittal. Just as Nyer is about to speak, the ruler Tyra comes and silences him and tells him, "Your mission is finished." and takes him out. So he goes down to get into his car and doesn't find Bhagat standing as usual. So he decides to go to the house to see him, but when he arrives, he finds that he committed suicide [music] because he can't continue his life this way. So he decides to travel with his wife on a trip to disconnect for a bit.
At the station, [music] he meets Dilreet, the lawyer who used to consider him her role model, but he let her down and didn't stand against injustice. She lets him know that what happened in this village was a massacre and asks him to go see this village and he will hear the voices of the souls that died there. The last thing she lets him know is that this paper has everything that proves the truth and tells him that 1,600 [music] people died at the hand of Dyer while the child Bhagat died because of you because he thought you would stand with him. So he takes the paper and goes to the train anyway. After that, we see her going to court and filing [music] a complaint against the Indian ruler, his men, and Dyer. As soon as Dyer sees this [music] talk, he is shocked and wants to know how a girl who is not known wants to do this to them. What scares him more is that the judge will be McCarty and this is a judge who is fair and stands on the side of the Indians. The next day, Dilreet goes to court and is a bit nervous until Dyer arrives and looks at her mockingly thinking he will win the case easily. But when the judge arrives, she asks him to summon a lawyer friend of hers to help her in the case. The surprise here is that she summons Nair.
As soon as his name is said in the hall, the whole hall shakes. The lawyer who never lost a case for the British arrives, and now he has become their opponent. To know what brought him back again, we go back to him when he was on the train and Dil Raths words affected him. So, he decides to get off the train and leaves his wife to go back and get the right of the people who died. He goes to the village, the place of the massacre that happened, and he really knows that these people died without any right. He decides to cooperate with Dil Rath so they can bring down this system.
He starts looking for evidence to strengthen his position in the case, including the pictures that Bhagat drew.
He enters the court with a strong heart.
In the beginning of the talk, Dyer denies and says that what he did was self-defense because he said, "I made a curfew in the village, but the people came out with weapons." So, he asks him, "Who informed the people of this ban?"
So, he tells him a person's name, but Nair had brought evidence that this person was not in the village that day.
Also, how did the police chief ask Dyer to come stop the demonstration without going back to the Inspector General of the region? Here he exposes their matter and lets the judge know that they are liars. When he said that the protesters had weapons, [music] Nair replied and let the judge know that this is a fabrication because not a single soldier of Dyer's soldiers was injured, not even a scratch. And this indicates his lie and that he planned a massacre without any evidence. Actually, the judge understands his words and decides to postpone the case for another week until he studies it well. And at that time, he will judge Dyer, who was terrified because his plan didn't go as he wanted.
The lawyer who doesn't lose a case decided to change his direction and stand with his country. The Indian soldier decides to to him to enter the bathroom, even though it is written outside, "Dogs and Indians not allowed."
Inside is Dyer, who tells him, "Don't forget that you are a slave to the British." So, he tells him the British are collapsing and leaves him and goes out of court. All the photographers and newspapers talk about the Indian hero who decided to bring back the right of his people. As for Tyra and his men, they are worried about their positions.
Dyer tells them, "We just finish off Nair, and that's it." But, Tyra lets him know that if they do that, they will prove the charge against them more. To be able to stand against all this, we must bring a lawyer with the same strength as Nair. Here the choice falls on Neville, who is half Indian and [music] half British. We see him in a bar drinking to forget because after the glory he was in, he lost his position [music] in the viceroy's committee and became living with no purpose until Tyra reached him and decided to pull him out of the loss and offered him to go back to work as a lawyer again. But, he refuses [music] because his life is already destroyed. But, the other one thinks of a way to bring him back and have revenge come out of it. So, he tells him that the one who destroyed your life and said that you are an illegitimate son is your friend Nair, who, when you took a position in the viceroy's committee, decided to expose your secret so that the press would talk about it and they would remove you from your position, which your friend took from you right after you left. And the opportunity came to take revenge and also go back to your position again.
Here Neville is shocked and decides to go back again to win the case. He enters the court and everyone is shocked by his return. He greets Nair, who didn't imagine that he would appear again. The session starts with Neville's words, who brings out media newspapers saying that Dyer is a war criminal and says to the judge, "The case is still ongoing and the press is trying to ruin my client's reputation. So, with your permission, I don't want any of the journalists to attend the session." Nair objects because the press conveys to the people everything that happens and this will give them hope to stand by him. But the judge doesn't agree and prevents the presence of journalists. And this affects our hero because the people were standing with him and Neville pulled an important weapon from his hand, which is the weapon of the press. He continues his pleading to prove that Dyer is innocent and decides to seek help from a witness named Martha. This one enters the court and lets him know that a day before this massacre after she finished her school because she was a teacher and was going out, a person attacked her and assaulted her. She says that this person is Tanvir, the leader of the resistance army, who was imprisoned a day later.
That's why his army came out with weapons and at that time Dyer did what he had to do and killed them. Nair is shocked by what is happening and asked the judge for a postponement because he no longer understands what is happening and must find stronger evidence to win the case that Neville closed for him completely. Not only that, but he also wants to ruin his reputation because for sure he will defend Tanvir. So he tells Tira, "I want people to say about him that he is defending a rapist. At that time the people will turn against him and the case will be in our hands."
Actually, this is what happens and the British chant Martha's name and when Nair comes, they attack him and accuse him of being a traitor who defends a rapist. Even though all this makes him shocked, it gives him a big push to prove the truth of this massacre and no matter what happens, he will win the case and bring back the right of the innocent people who died and also expose the injustice of the system. The time for appeal comes and we see Dilraj [music] nervous, but Nair reassures her and asks the judge to cross-examine Martha who stands in front of them.
Dilraj talks to her about what happened at the time of this assault and that she didn't think of screaming or calling for anyone even though the church was next to her. Well, after the assault, which hospital did you go to? But there is no answer from her. Well, who is the doctor who treated you? You don't know either?
Well, importantly, he taught her how to write nine symphonies. So, she tells him, "I have it memorized." He asks her many questions about this book, and she answers them normally. Here is the important proof because she found this book on Tanvir's desk. And not only that, it's signed by her with all love.
Here the case flips and takes another direction because Dil Red exposes a love story between Martha and Tanvir, who confessed that he assaulted her and imprisoned an innocent person. Here Martha breaks down and repeats saying the truth because she loved Tanvir, and because she is British, she wasn't allowed to love an Indian. So, they used to meet in secret, and unfortunately, the police knew their love story. That's why they arrested him. So, as not to tarnish her reputation, they said that he assaulted [music] her, and she went and confessed to that in the station just so they wouldn't kill him. But in reality, she confesses that she loves him, and he didn't assault her or anything. Here Neville speaks and says to the judge, "All this has nothing to do with Dyer because this is the police's mistake, while my client is carrying out military orders." He accuses Nair that he doesn't have any evidence to prove Dyer's conviction and tries to ruin his reputation. So, the judge gives him two more days to bring any evidence that proves the conviction.
He goes with Dil Red to look for any documents, but she grabs a paper and tears it into pieces and tells him there is no evidence. But her tearing the paper inspired him with something and reminded him of the soldier Khan, who filed a complaint and Dyer tore it up in front of him. So, he went to talk to him to be a witness in the case, and he wants any paper to prove Dyer's conviction. At that time, he tells him there was a major who didn't agree with what he was doing, and he is Major Burge, who was in the middle of the massacre and refused to kill people who didn't have weapons. The court time comes and Nair summons Dyer to talk to him and says to him, "You hit a soldier of yours named Khan in a brutal way."
So, he says to him, "Because he broke the orders and was 15 minutes late for the unit, so I had to kill him from the hitting." At that time, Nair asked, "Was Khan late with his friends and they were 25 people and they returned at the same time?" However, Khan was the only Indian in the battalion. That's why Dyer hit him and this proves that he doesn't like Indians. Evidence of this is also a report from a military hospital saying that Dyer is mentally ill from the time he was a child and Indian children bullied him because he used to stutter in speech. That's why they grew up and in his heart was hatred against them.
This explains his psychological report when he entered on the Indians who didn't have weapons and among them were children. Dyer saw them as the children who bullied him long ago. That's why he was killing them with all brutality. So, here he gets up and grabs him and says to him, "You are Indian scum and I should have killed you like I killed the rest." This is what Nair wanted. He was able to provoke him until he confessed by himself in front of the court. So, the judge tells them the final decision is tomorrow. At that time, Dyer is about to go crazy and wants any solution. So, Teera tells him the time has come for us to use our authority. The next day in court, everyone [music] attends except Nair and Dil Red. Neville lets the judge know that they were arrested on charges of destabilizing national security.
Actually, at night, the police forces arrived at his house and decided to take him on the charge that he has important military papers, despite him telling them that this [music] is paper for his case, but they refused his talk and arrested him and his assistant. At that time, the judge leaves the decision to the panel of judges, most of whom were actually British. After each one wrote his opinion, the judge ruled the acquittal of Dyer and his men from any charges. He went back to sit in front of Nayer and laugh and say to him, "You reminded me of the students who bullied me and I killed many of them in the massacre that you couldn't prove against me." They go out of the station after he won the case. For the first time, our hero loses a case. So, he is very affected and takes his wife and decides to leave the city and walk. He spends a very difficult time and he doesn't believe what happened until a message comes to him from inside the prison from [ __ ] who he imprisoned, and says to him, "This time you are standing on the right side. But do you think why my son committed suicide? My son was very strong to the point that he needed three people to bring him down to the ground and this is what surely happened and they cut his artery so that it would seem like he committed suicide. But in reality, he was killed. This is because this is the only thing that would have enlightened your case and because he is smart, for sure, he left you evidence."
Here, Nayer decides to go back to his case again and goes to Dil Red, who was sitting in a lounge setting, and tells her, "Let's go back to the case again."
He looks at the judgment of the case well so he can get any loophole out of it. He manages to know that in the alliance committee, there are people who were bribed and he gets their bank records. He has evidence and presents to the judge a request for appeal, but he refuses. So, he begs him to hear him, but he refuses for the third time. At that time, Nayer has nothing else to do but to insult him. So, he sentences him to imprisonment this coming Friday. Dyer and his men afterwards are happy and congratulate Neville on his [music] new position, but he wanted to take revenge on Nayer most severely and decided to gather all the journalists in the court to report the news of his dismissal and imprisonment. Friday comes and Nayer is accused of insulting the judge. So, he starts talking about the old case. At that time, the judge refuses to go into another case, but he had prepared a plan and takes advantage of a small law in the legal profession that allows him to bring any evidence from anywhere. This is what Neville understands and knows that all this is his plan and he insulted the judge to get another trial.
At that time, he takes advantage of this law and manages to expose [music] Dyer, who wants to stop all this, but Nair continues and summons one of the alliance committee who took bribe money and Dil Red threatened him to come testify in court. He says that he wrote in his report that Dyer is guilty, while the judge said he is innocent. Nair has proved that two more of the alliance committee said that Dyer is guilty, but the judge said he is innocent as well.
Here, he manages to prove that Tyra was able to buy the judge and sent him bribe money just as he sent to all the members of the alliance. He proves the corruption of the whole organization and Dyer, who killed people [music] and left them to die for 12 hours after he closed the park on them and then made them crawl in the street so they would all die and no [music] injured person could live. From inside the court, he chants for a new revolution against them. Here, all the Indians are on his side and chant with him against the rule. When the British ruler knows that it reached this point, he decides to dismiss all these corrupt people from their positions. Neville decided to submit his resignation and left this collapsing organization. The beginning was with Tyra who finds all the people chanting against him. Even his guards chant against him. General Dyer was at a ceremony of honoring, but Bhagat stops him and tells him, "You have been dismissed and you will be thrown into prison." So, he goes back to his tent while he is shocked because he was put down. This was the beginning of the revolution and independence. [music] We know that this story is real and its hero is the lawyer Nair who brought back the right of of people in the end. And with that, our movie ends. Hope you like the recap.
