Weather forecasting involves analyzing atmospheric pressure systems, temperature patterns, and precipitation data to predict future weather conditions. In this forecast, high pressure systems will dominate, pushing clouds eastward and maintaining warm temperatures across Utah, with highs in the mid-80s to low 90s. The forecast demonstrates how meteorologists compare current conditions to historical averages (May's normal: 1 day in 90s, 7 days in 80s, 10 days in 70s, 9 days in 60s, 4 days in 50s) to assess deviations and predict upcoming weather trends.

Afternoon weather forecast, June 2, 2026Added:
Kevin, it's just up from here, right?
>> That is. Temperatures are going to soar over the next couple of days and hey, it's June. It's what kind of happens.
Let me go and show you what a beautiful day it is. This is up in northern Utah at Hyrum Reservoir. Hyrum, one of the smaller waterways, but the water levels are good. You can see the blue skies with a few clouds and over the next couple weeks, I'll tell you lots of folks headed out onto the water. Be safe. Make sure you're wearing life jackets and doing everything you're supposed to. This summer season is just amazing how quickly it comes upon us and then we all downtown on Triad Center. Looking back to the west and gorgeous conditions as well. A few little clouds that have built up over the Oquirrh Mountains this afternoon, but temperatures have climbed into the low 80s and when you look back at the month of May and kind of see how we did, it was impressive. We averaged one day in the 90s with 7 days in the 80s, 10 in the 70s, 9 in the 60s and 4 in the 50s. 1.82 inches of water is normal and we even averaged a little teeny tiny bit of snow. So, how did this month of May turn out? Well, we got warmth. 3 days in the 80s, 8 days in the 80s, excuse me, 3 days in the 90s, 8 days in the 80s and 13 days in the 70s.
We fell below normal for the cooler air, only 5 days in the 60s and only 2 days in the 50s. We got a 2/3 of an inch of rain, well, only 36% of normal. Could have been worse had we not had that storm on the last day of the month. So, woo, we need every bit we can get. High temperatures, well, Salt Lake City hit 81° today. Nice. Boise went to 80, but look at Great Falls. A storm coming out of Canada is kind of pulling in some of that cold air. 70s in Bismarck, 80s in Minneapolis, 50s in Boston today with 80s down the East Coast, 90s for Memphis and Dallas, 103 in Phoenix and a pair of low 70s over in San Francisco and Los Angeles today. 77 and wind over bit of build-up that's happening out over Ely in the western border of the state. Same thing going on south of Price. Down near Hanksville, we've got a few clouds that have kind of towered and into the Uinta Basin. It's 80 in Vernal, 90 in Moab and 94 in St. George. Las Vegas is currently 97°. So, some of that warm air is going to bubble north over the next couple of days. You can see that northern low trying to drop in some cool air, but you'll notice most of our flow is coming in from the west. And as this high pressure builds, it's going to strengthen and it's going to take that low and nudge it to the east. So, the high is going to win out in this scenario and you'll see it on our storm zone. The clouds try to come in, but they really don't get successful. Is he a little bit over on the day on Tuesday? A little build-up over the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. This band from the west gets pushed in on Wednesday. So, look for partly cloudy conditions, but it really doesn't alter the temperatures all that much. We end up in a westerly flow to almost a southwesterly flow and it's going to be very very warm. 84 in Nephi tomorrow and Manti 87 in Richfield. Southern Utah, man, 97 St. George, 96 Moab, and 102 in Mesquite. 7-day forecast, 90s turn to 100, back to the 90s all the way through the weekend, and it just looks fantastic. Northern Utah, lows tonight crisp in Montpelier, 37, 40s in Logan, but tomorrow's highs mid-80s return to places like Sandy and Provo, 82 Eagle Mountain, Salt Lake City will be 83 tomorrow, 89 on Wednesday. We'll stay in those upper 80s all the way through the week. 94 on Saturday will be the warmest, and then we go back to those mid-80s for Sunday, Monday.
>> Very nice week. Thanks a lot, Kevin.
