Guy Ritchie's action films are characterized by fast-paced storytelling, dark humor, and efficient narrative progression, but may sacrifice emotional depth and character development for entertainment value; In The Grey (2026) exemplifies this style with its quick setup, mission-focused plot, and explosive action sequences, though critics note rushed third-act pacing and inconsistent gunplay realism, resulting in a 70% critic score and 84% audience score.

In The Grey Movie Review--Are You A Guy Ritchie Fan??Añadido:
I would say Guy Ritchie is pumping movies out left and right, but however, this was filmed a couple years ago and finally bought by Black Bear, which is a company that's pretty new in a distribution service. Was it a good purchase? Let's find out.
Chase Lee Hockey here with the Blue Food Tom Rubin in the gray. What's a pretty simple premise. We have a lawyer trying to take or trying to get back a billion dollars that was loaned to a very, very evil man. But the person who loaned him the billion dollars isn't the greatest person as well. And now we're in this private island that I'm going to guess in some South American country or off the coast of some South American country. And will they get the money back because Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill, that is their main business is helping this lawyer because she got them out of jail quite a while ago. Anyway, so I've been hearing complaints about this movie for saying like it starts too quick and things like that. Nah, fam. If a movie gives me no [ __ ] in the beginning like 3 minutes and we're wham bam, thank you, ma'am, into the story, rock on with your socks on because that just proves there was no [ __ ] in this movie and I can give that a positive. This is a straight-up how they're going to complete this mission, what they're going to do, the training to make sure it's a very particular mission where they have three routes, and how they're going to do it. And I really enjoyed that part of the story because as a person who was in Africa and had to do some stuff that you are having like different routes you have to specifically take and you got to train for those routes to make sure if anything goes bad with route one, you got to do route two, route three. So, having that really works well in the favor of like having some realism in the story because even though there are some unrealistic things that get taken out in the third act, this movie when dealing with that is pretty solid and it's a great cast overall through and through out really good. The girl Gonzalez, she is in a lot of Guy Ritchie films now.
Like she was in this Paradise Lost was the last one Guy Ritchie did if I'm not mistaken and the one before that she was also in as well. I think Jake Gyllenhaal was in that one as well. I could be completely wrong, but she's been in a couple Guy Ritchie films. I think it's three now.
No, it was the one with Henry Cavill the the one where it's like with Alan Rickman as well. I'm pretty sure she was in that one.
Unfortunately gentlemen something like that. Anyhow, we're not talking about that. We're talking about In the Gray and with that this movie goes a mile a second for an hour and 40 minutes no [ __ ] and that's what I really like about the film. And it does have that Guy Ritchie flair with some of that dark humor esque to it and it's really cool.
The trailer does take some liberties of you thinking one thing about some of the characters which you know, I didn't really care but it was like oh pretty smart of them to not really spoil the story and have the trailer edited in that way. I [snorts] could say there is some negative with some of the characters and the emotionalness to them as well as how the movie ends because there are some characters that do die in this whole processy right and it just feels like they're expendable they're expendable they're expendable that no other like character that has been working with them for months after month after month really when one of them dies it's more like a no. Oh, ready? All right, let's continue on kind of thing which that could be realistic as well like in the moment you got to get the [ __ ] out of there, but it was kind of like really jarring right because it really didn't expand on that. And the ending the last five minutes can feel pretty rushed with what the movie's trying to do and how they conclude with all the different characters the lawyers the bad guy from South America as well as these you know two I want to call them hitman, but two people that make money off getting people out of dirty situations.
Uh it's a gorgeous looking film and I do like a lot of it if I could was outside.
But I was a little bit bummed by some of these explosions where they did did feel either small or CGI-esque that you're just like I especially when when a house blows up the last one you're like I feel like it could have been a little bit more gravitas to it.
But it is what it is. Also, there are some good and some bad gun play. And what I mean by that is Oh yeah, Guy Ritchie also did the one with Jake Gyllenhaal or Jake Gyllenhaal was getting the Afghanistan interpreter out of the country. So he's been working with both of those Henry Cavill actually all three of these people he has been on his payroll for quite some time. But there was some situations where you could just kind of tell like in that Jake Gyllenhaal one where he's trying to get out of Afghanistan uh that there is just like the realism of some of the guns just isn't there.
And I know that, you know, with everything that happened with Alec Baldwin killing the cinematographer from Rust that they've kind of like slowed down with some of the gun play on set, which I I think it's not good that they've done that because people that have shot guns and know things you're like, "Yep, you could totally tell." But there was also good stuff in this movie like when they're shooting the sniper rifle and you see the uh recoil from the sniper rifle and they're like 100 like 1 yd 2 yd 3 yd 4 yd to get to the bull's-eye and you do have to, you know, make changes to the scope or the iron sight to make sure you actually hit the target. So like I said, there was a lot of pros and cons where I was like, "Okay, that's realistic. Uh that isn't. That's realistic. That isn't."
But, you know, it's a Guy Ritchie film that you're not supposed to take too seriously and just wham bam, thank you, ma'am. Let's get to the story. No [ __ ] And I like that, right? Because you don't like movies where it's like you do something and then for like 10 minutes it's like blah blah blah blah blah.
You're like, "Get to the [ __ ] point.
There's no need for this." At least within The Gray, it literally is point A, point B, point C. No BS in between.
Let's just move the story along. Let's get this movie going and have some fun with it. So, overall, In the Grey, is it a perfect movie? Absolutely not.
Uh there are some issues like I said already said them throughout the thing where the third act does feel rushed.
The last 5 minutes feels very rushed.
And, you know, some closure I would like to see it happen because this could be like a fun franchise, like almost The Gentlemen, you know, on Netflix, which I still haven't watched that Netflix show.
That's another freaking fantastic Guy Ritchie film. I mean, The Gentlemen was like Oh, Colin Farrell's part in the restaurant, so freaking good. But, yes, In the Grey is a fun Guy Ritchie film.
So, In the Grey will receive a 3 and 1/2 out of five with Fultons, which equals that 70%, which is what the critics and news scores gave this one.
You know who would be good in a Guy Ritchie film?
Robert Downey Jr. I don't think he has been in one, one, but that would be a fun freaking one, right? Anyway, In the Grey, 47% with the critics, 84% with the audience score.
Critic consensus, there is none. Okay, there's only 34 critics and 100 250 audience. I thought there would be more critics honestly than just 34. Anyway, that's my mistake. 84, 70, 47. Chase the tiger with the blue Fulton. Like, comment, subscribe. One of those Fultontopia. Yep, blue Fulton is a Watch the great day I'm going to say tomorrow, week from now, a year from now.
Obviously, go freak one of you. Peace and love. Peace and love. And are you a Guy Ritchie fan? Yes or no?
