A rare “blue moon” will rise on May 31st

[00:00:00]Heads-up sky watchers, there's a blue moon coming May 31st. Now, before you get too excited, it won't actually look blue. The name is a bit misleading. A blue moon is simply the second full moon in a single month. It's all about timing. The moon cycle is about 29 and 1/2 days long, so if you get a full moon at the beginning of the month, there's just enough time to squeeze in one at the end. That's what's happening this month. If skies are clear on the 31st, head outside at 9:22 to catch this not-so-blue, but pretty special full moon.
