This critique sharply exposes how confirmation bias transcends party lines, proving that intellectual laziness is a universal vulnerability when a narrative feels good. It serves as a sobering reminder that even the most "enlightened" can trade uncomfortable truths for convenient conspiracies.

Apparently Dumb and Gullible Ain’t Just for MAGAAdded:
[snorts] [sighs] >> Um I admittedly >> [clears throat] >> did not watch video that was put out earlier today by Ashley St. Clair.
Who for many, many years uh she's a young woman for many, many years she was a mega influencer.
Uh she had a kid with Elon Musk.
Um but I have seen so [snorts] many videos on this app tonight.
Including many, many, many, many videos from people who I follow and people who I am mutuals with saying that's it.
We told you. We told you guys. We told you that the 2024 election was stolen and Ashley St. Clair just put out a video that proves it.
And I have never believed that the 2024 election was stolen through illegal means, through satellites, uh through Starlink, through whatever.
Uh I believe and I and I think that the facts will back me up on this that the specific things that Elon Musk did with his money to help Donald Trump win the 2024 election were and are and remain legal.
The election was not illegally stolen from Kamala Harris. She lost. Donald Trump won.
But then I started seeing all of these videos today.
This afternoon.
People just absolutely losing their [ __ ] mind.
Because Ashley St. Claire gave us proof.
I didn't watch the video that she put out.
But then I got this comment.
From someone who agrees with me. They're very very skeptical. I'm not singling out this comment or this commenter to be shitty to this commenter in any way, shape or form.
But Jessica writes the following.
To be fair, Ashley St. Claire didn't say that the election was stolen.
She said that she was told by Elon that there was an anomaly entered into the matrix by his lasers or satellites.
And now I actually am going to go.
I actually am going to go watch that video. I have my glasses on cuz when you put a comment up there, the print is like so [ __ ] small. I am going to go watch that video now.
And I'm I'm going to go back and rewatch the videos that were posted earlier today.
>> [snorts] >> But people who I follow and people who I am mutuals with.
Because I want to watch those videos again to see if they were kidding.
I want to watch those videos again to see if they were joking.
And I am praying to God that the people who I follow and the people who I'm mutuals with who posted those videos today did not do so in reliance upon Ashley St. Clair saying that she was told by Elon Musk that there was an anomaly entered into the matrix by his lasers or satellites.
Because that is literally the stupidest [ __ ] sentence I've ever read in my entire life.
And and I really really really want to believe that people aren't actually [ __ ] stupid enough to fall for that.
Elon Musk is suing Ashley St. Clair.
Twitter is suing Ashley St. Clair.
They have a kid together.
He has tried to get custody of that kid.
She is suing him for child support or has sued him for child support.
I don't know her. I have not watched very much of her content at all.
I know that she is trying to rebrand herself after having been a MAGA influencer for give or take a decade.
I know that she is trying to rebrand herself as now being someone leaning left, I guess. I don't know, but exposing all of MAGA's secrets.
>> And if if she was someone who was a mega influencer for several years, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that she probably has a pretty solid understanding of the concept of confirmation bias.
Where it's like we want to believe something to be true so badly.
There is something that we want to be true more than anything in the world.
And when somebody comes along and says to us, "Yes, that thing that you believe actually is true."
We are going to latch on to that person.
Because they have just confirmed for us what we believe more than anything to be true.
Which also functions in a way of our complete inability to accept something that is actually factually true.
We want the opposite of that to be true so badly that when someone comes along and said, "Yeah, actually that thing is true."
Even though there is literally absolutely not one [ __ ] shred of actual evidence in support of that, but there are literal mountains of evidence in support of this.
But we don't want to believe this because this makes us sad. This makes us angry. This is upsetting for us.
Accepting the fact that the United States of America still in 2026 is an unimaginably racist country that hates women, especially black women, is very upsetting, especially for white people on the left.
Because majorities of white men voted for Donald Trump in 2024. A vast majority of white women voted for Donald Trump in 2024.
It is We don't have to deal with any of this over here for which there are actual mountains of evidence.
Because we want to believe that Elon Musk stole the 2024 election for Donald Trump with his lasers and his satellites and with Starlink. And if that's true, then we don't have to deal with the reality of that.
I am going to read that sentence again because I am in a semi-state of shock right now that anybody actually [ __ ] fell for this, let alone came on to TikTok and made videos with their full [ __ ] chest saying that it's actually true and has proven that the 2024 election because I very, very much want to believe that the people that I am friends with on this app and the people that I am mutuals on this app and the people that I follow on this app are not that [ __ ] stupid.
Let's review.
What Ashley St. Clair said was that she was told by Elon Musk that there was an anomaly entered into the matrix by his lasers or satellites. Are you [ __ ] kidding me?
If you guys want to be like the stop the steal crowd who stormed the capital, [ __ ] have at it, dude.
It's unimaginably disappointing.
