[00:00:00]Does it seem like every time you walk into a grocery store, you're spending more money? Well, if that's what it seems like, that's because it's what's happening. We are spending more money because prices continue to go up. And according to multiple experts and grocery stores, they are stating that prices will continue to go up over the course of this year. Prices are likely never going to come down, but they do say prices will start to slowly go up instead of big spikes.

[00:00:38]>> $3.99 for a little small tub of cream cheese. That's the deal. That's the lowest price. You want a watermelon?

[00:00:46]It's only eight bucks.

[00:00:49]Check out the bacon.

[00:00:54]Okay, so the lowest price was $5.99 and it went up to $12.99 for a pound of bacon.

[00:01:02]>> French fries $5.99.

[00:01:05]Things are more and more expensive every single day. And again, it's not going to get worse. But you know what's even crazier about this is that as we go into these stores and we start to see it's $6.99 and $7.99 and 8.99 and $11.99 what's happening is as Americans we are starting to normalize these higher prices and so we are justifying the higher prices by going and cutting other things. I talked about this earlier on today where people are cutting their budgets. They're reducing the amount of eating out. They're reducing their activities and their entertainment because they want to spend money on vacations and Memorial Day weekend and going somewhere for summer break. That's what we're doing. But now we're starting to justify the fact that it's okay if something costs 5 to$10 for a $1 item at the grocery store. It's okay if we used to spend $2.50 50 for that pack of cookies just two years ago because today it's now $5.99. But it gets worse.

[00:02:14]>> At the grocery store just become $10. I I just had to leave because I was like, "What the?" Orange juice $10. Eggs $10.

[00:02:22]Pretzels $10. Cheezits $10. Every time I walk in, it's like it's getting more and more expensive by the day. Y'all, I am sick of this. I remember when I could walk into the grocery store, get a pack of Oreos for $150.

[00:02:35]A $150. And now I'm out here spending $9.79 to get a pack of Oreos. It's like everything rounds up to $10. This is ridiculous. I can't even go to Taco Bell with $5 anymore. I can't wait to look at my kids in the eye and be like, you know, I used to be able to go to Taco Bell with just $5 and get a meal that would fill me up for three days. It's insanity in these streets. I can't, man.

[00:02:55]I can't deal with this no more.

[00:02:57]>> Yeah. People are giving up. And what's interesting about what's happening right now is again we are justifying the fact that things are getting more expensive.

[00:03:08]Uh let me let me just paint the picture for you here. When gas prices get more expensive, we try to justify it as well, we're not going to walk to work. I'm not going to walk my kids to school. So what do we do? We cut back in other ways. We reduce our spending on eating out because again we can't cut back on food.

[00:03:26]We can't do that. we still have to go to the grocery store and well grocery prices are more expensive than ever before. Just think about what you used to pay just two years ago. Or better yet, if you were before the the pandemic, so back in 2018, 2019, what was the cost for food? This is why people are giving up. This is why Americans say the US is just unaffordable because everything is going up in price. And again, it's not coming down anytime soon. But look at this.

[00:04:01]>> I just got done grocery shopping at Walmart. Walmart is supposed to be a relatively cheap place to get your groceries from, which is why I shop there pretty often. Do you guys know how expensive hamburger meat is now? It is literally almost $8 for one pound. And it doesn't matter what kind of hamburger you're getting. It doesn't matter if it's the 7525, the 8515 lean. Like, it doesn't matter what kind you get. It's all almost $8, which is insane because my mom used to tell me when I first moved out of the house and was purchasing things on my own, she was like, "Just always have hamburger because hamburger is so inexpensive. You can pick it up. You can make so much with it." $8 is actually crazy. Like, that adds up so freaking fast. My groceries weren't that expensive. Like, I I was adding them up.

[00:04:52]I'm like, "Okay, this is fine. This is fine. This is fine." I added my hamburger and my price skyrocketed.

[00:04:58]That's freaking crazy. What are we doing? What is this economy that we are all living in right now? It makes me so mad. Like, no one can afford to live.

[00:05:08]Hamburger is so expensive and that is supposed to be one of the most easily accessible meats.

[00:05:13]>> Yeah. How much is hamburger where you live? Let me know down in the comment section. But this is why I'm bringing this up, okay? Everybody has their own budget. And and you're probably in the exact same situation where you make x amount of dollars every single month.

[00:05:30]You know that your fixed expenses, that means your rent, it could be your mortgage, your car payments, your health insurance, all those things are a set price. You know exactly what they cost.

[00:05:42]But then you have those other ones that fluctuate. That is your utility bills.

[00:05:48]That's you know, credit cards, right?

[00:05:49]Because we continue to use them. but also your food costs, gas, right?

[00:05:54]Maintenance on vehicles, all these other things are going up. This is why life is so unaffordable right now here in the United States. And millions of Americans are complaining daily that they can't afford to live. They can't afford a decent lifestyle, not a good one, a decent lifestyle. And it's all because prices for gas and food are going up.

[00:06:19]Don't worry about the fixed expenses.

[00:06:21]They're already there. But it's the gas and food that is causing people to panic because those are things that they need.

[00:06:28]It's a necessity. The problem is they can't cut back. They there's no way they can cut back or they're already rationing food and it's not a good thing. Look at this one, though. I know that I can't really expect cheap groceries at this store, but do you want to see what $108 worth of groceries looks like here at the end of March in 2026 in California from Safeway? $108.73.

[00:07:04]That's it. That's everything. That's That's $108 worth of groceries.

[00:07:09]One bag, one jug of milk, $108. And again, I I know that Safeway is not exactly discount groceries. I mean, I don't love giving Amazon money, but at the same time, at least the prices at Amazon Fresh were really, really good compared to this. Of course, Amazon Fresh is closed now. And uh in our town, we're waiting for Whole Foods to open up probably sometime this summer.

[00:07:39]Until then, I'd have to go quite a ways across town to a grocery store that's more discounted.

[00:07:47]>> That's the other thing that a lot of people aren't talking about. The amount of stores that have shut down because they couldn't afford to stay open. The theft was just too high. The the cost for employees just too much. The stores were not making a profit. And so, some of these stores shut down. We've seen Walmarts shut down because they weren't making a profit. They were losing too much money and Walmart and corporate decided, you know what, just going to get rid of that store. We've seen that over the past year. And it's only getting worse because now you may have to drive 30 or 45 minutes to get to the closest grocery store that is a decent price. But can you justify driving, you know, 30, 45 minutes in your car, spending, you know, $10 or $15 on gas just to get there to maybe save you an additional 5 to 10 bucks. It just doesn't make sense. And for some people, they again, you have to eat or in this case, what are you going to drink?

[00:08:49]>> So, I'm at the store, right? I had the Dr. Pepper zerocalorie cream soda. I'm like, "Oh my gosh, it's so good." Went to the store. I'm like, "Okay, let me try it. Let me get it. When did soda be turned into an $11 investment for a 12-pack?

[00:09:06]>> $11 for a 12-pack. I talked about this before. Remember when uh a can of soda used to be like a quarter? You can get it out of the the vending machine. It was like a quarter. And now you having to pay like a dollar 50, dollar 255, $2 just to get one can of soda. That's insane. But again, this is where we're at.

[00:09:33]I just want to say that these grocery prices are so ridiculous and it's really starting to piss me off because it feels like all of our extra income is going straight to groceries. I mean, we were spending before like 150 a week on a family of four for groceries. Now we're pushing 400 400 plus a week for groceries.

[00:10:00]>> That's a huge increase. $150 to $400 plus for a family of four for one week.

[00:10:07]That means you went from a $600 per month bill to about a $1600 per month bill. That's a $1,000 increase.

[00:10:17]Again, how can people live off this? How can people continue to survive if they can't even buy food or affordable food?

[00:10:26]And this is what we are going to face.

[00:10:28]And farmers have been saying this and beating the same drum telling you this warning that food prices aren't going to go down because their costs are going up. Fertilizer costs going up that we are going to experience a bigger drought than we've experienced before. Well, that's going to be worse.

[00:10:48]Just prepare. Prices for food isn't going to go down anytime soon. Honestly, you will likely be screwed in the next several months. But I want you to prepare for that. So, make sure you're getting prepared. Buy the stuff today that you need that's going to stay good for the next several months. Because honestly, I've already seen bags of rice and beans going up by like 25 cents just in the past couple of weeks. Again, it's insane. But let me know what you're seeing in your area.
