This video demonstrates that overcoming fear requires progressive exposure to feared situations combined with cognitive reframing, where anxiety and excitement are recognized as the same emotion interpreted differently by the brain, and that building courage involves pushing personal limits in safe environments while trusting in one's capabilities and the support of others.

I Tested Weird Methods to Overcome AnxietyAdded:
There are over 500 different phobias named by psychologists in the world.
Now, the most common fears in the world are spiders, heights, needles, vomiting, and confined spaces. Now, personally, I'm actually scared of most of those things except spiders. I I kind of like spiders, but anyway, I decided I've had enough living with these fears, which is why I'm going all the way to the jungles of Guatemala and joining a 5-day extreme sports retreat. The goal is simple. put myself in the most uncomfortable situations possible to see if I can come out on the other side completely fearless. As soon as I arrived, I was thrown into the deep end with a spiritual ritual involving humming, standing on nails, and getting massaged by a pregnant couple. But once that was over, it was time for level one, where I'd have to face not one but two of my biggest phobias at the same time.
Welcome to tonight's sweat lodge. Very much so inspired by traditional teas.
So, it's going to be a collective experience tonight. Anybody's first.
>> We're going to do it the classic way.
We're going to see how it feels and how the group's feeling. But, we may open the doors. We may not. You do in your own way. A lot of singing, a lot of chanting, a lot of humming. A teascal is essentially an ancient mind sweat lodge ceremony symbolizing a return to the womb for emotional and physical purification. Now, initially, I actually thought this was going to be a regular sauna, but the more the conductors explained, the more I actually realized this was not going to be a spa day. And how long are we expected to be in?
>> About an hour. Also, if you're if you are having a hard time, you you can leave. We try to stay.
>> I couldn't film inside since it was dark and some people were naked. But imagine a sauna on steroids. It's just people singing and yelling, doing intense breathing exercises, and all this is happening inside a cave. The teascal lasted for over an hour, but some people stayed inside even longer. This is a sneak peek to what's happening in there.
That was like going on for an hour.
We're just screaming, praying. I don't know. I It was like kind of an out of body experience. So, good start. After the teascal, we gathered to officially start the retreat by introducing ourselves, sharing our biggest fears, and talking about what we were most excited to overcome.
>> Funny enough, I'm scared of the fear of being scared. You know, that loop kind of power gliding is a big one. And then when you mentioned the cliff jumping, I kind of heard about it before, but I was kind of in denial about it. So now that's a scary one for sure. Um, but with that being said, my thing is thing that I'm most excited about is finishing the week and having that feeling of of completion of of having done all these things. It scares me. It scared me cuz I feel like not dealing with your anxiety is just going to push it further and you're just going to get anxious of more things. And once you start pushing it back, get scared of less things. So I'm really excited to have that feeling of like [Β __Β ] did that. So >> hi everyone. I'm Sedona. I don't want to say it's a fear cuz I'm really excited but for this birth. So I guess a fear would be like if Dakota was in the sky and he had to like Yeah. land paragliding.
>> We're coming.
But yeah, like on a deeper note, like fear is just like going from not having a child to having a child like in everyday reality. Um, excitement also same topic like having a baby soon. It could be during this retreat and it could be afterwards.
>> My name's Ian. I've been hurt a lot of times doing extreme sports. I just don't like being injured. Usually it's recoverable, but >> usually I've seen people die. Yeah. So, it's like yard.
>> It's encouraging.
>> The next day, I woke up at 4:30 a.m.
feeling pretty anxious. It turns out cliff jumping is happening today, which is for me actually scarier than paragliding. Nevertheless, the morning started off with a delicious breakfast, but not before we faced our third phobia.
>> What are we doing, Christian?
>> Uh, we're about to embark on a journey of sacred crunching. The outside is crispy, the inside is slurpee. We're eating the shell.
>> Oh, yeah. You know. Oh, >> wait. Really?
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> Okay.
>> Why are we eating the shell? This calcium.
>> Uh, I'll explain in a moment.
>> Why are we going to go cliff jumping?
Because we can, but somewhere else.
>> You should never eat raw eggs. They're full of salmonella. What? EC coli. Some other bacterial things that will give you the the runs. And not only the runs, but it might actually kill you.
Shut that.
>> Cheers.
>> So when you can >> Oh no. Oh no. There you go. Nice work.
>> Crunchy bread, >> cooked eggs in the top like same or avocado or something. That's delicious.
>> That is so weird, bro.
>> Oh no. I got it in someone's end. Oh no.
>> Raised and pastry.
So, >> I don't know what to say about that. I'm kind of weirded out, but I'm going to have a real breakfast now.
>> Luckily, they had great breakfast options alongside the raw eggs, which was clutch because we had a long day ahead of us.
>> Where are we going?
>> Going to the cliffs. And why are we doing this? Cuz without pushing what you're capable of, you're never going to grow. We're human beings and we have these amazing bodies that are so capable of so many things, but people don't get the opportunity to really in a safe manner get to see what their bodies are capable of. And I find that there's just so many people that aren't taking what it truly is to be human to its full potential. And so that's what this retreat's all about.
>> Hey, we're already going. We're already going.
>> Oh no.
Oh man.
>> Why can't I see the rocks? Like, shouldn't I not see the rocks down there?
>> Yeah.
>> Feeling scared at all, Christian?
>> Oh, I'm uh actually exhilarated more than scared. It's just going to come right out of me and just going to like >> sore. Lana, are you going to take a jump?
>> Um, not today.
>> I don't think you're supposed to jump like within 2 hours of eating. I think it's like a tradition in culture.
>> No, that's right. Are you feeling >> I would otherw I'd be to I'd do two back flips, I think.
>> Are you feeling scared? Is that what's happening?
>> No, no, no, no, no, no. Yeah, like >> it's the adrenaline. I don't want to poop myself, you know.
>> Apparently, we had water sports planned for today, so I decided to respect the local tradition and hop on the boat first. I definitely was uh was not scared to jump off the cliff at all.
Big shout out to Kiko here. He's actually responsible for a lot of the camera work you're seeing. So, uh, thanks, Kiko. Eventually, it was my turn to wakeboard for the first time ever.
And uh let me tell you, I was I I was a natural.
>> After I was done embarrassing myself in front of everyone, it was time to head back and face the cliff. The problem was we were actually running extremely late and had to head straight back to camp. I got to say, while I was terrified to jump, I truly intended to do it. But uh yeah, I let the acrophobia win this round.
>> Day three was about building my courage back after yesterday's fail. One of the ways I did that was by talking to Sedona, who was literally 9 months pregnant and was about to give birth right here in the jungle.
>> What's up?
>> How we doing, Sedona?
>> 40 weeks pregnant, >> dude.
>> We're doing great. They're about to pop.
And she's like leading a group of men out here out in the jungle.
>> Showing them what's possible.
>> That's crazy.
>> Warrior mama.
>> Yeah.
>> You got to show them the belly.
>> About to burst any moment now.
>> Damn. Are you feeling excited for the baby? Like what's your thought? Are you feeling scared, excited, happy?
>> All of it.
>> All of it.
>> Less fear. Excited though about being a mama is a big chapter change like we're going to have a human all the time with us now. So there is that like fear of like oh my gosh like reality is nothing never going to be the same it is now.
You know >> you're going to have this baby just out here out here in the forest.
>> Yeah. As primal as it can be as back to our nature as the woman a woman and our natural like instinct and who like what we're made to do. And I think our world has been here been so programmed to have so much fear and it's really just our primal nature as like animals and human beings. So >> yeah, you know, we're accepting of any possible reality, but full trust and surrender. So >> wow.
>> Yeah.
>> Admirable.
>> Baby mama.
>> After getting some inspiration from baby mama, we took a nauseating water taxi across Lake Atitlan. We went for a hike and practiced our fear of heights by climbing some massive trees. Sedona, are you climbing any trees?
>> Yes.
>> Are you actually? What the? God damn it.
I guess I have to now.
>> This is so magical.
You are definitely winning awards for most active presentation. Hiking, climbing trees.
>> Going to find myself a little tree to climb. Oh, we got we got a little shimp up there.
>> A little saddle right here. I can ride.
After climbing and getting a bit more comfortable with elevation, we hiked to a waterfall for a primal lunch. It was of course my favorite chicken and potatoes and uh yeah, we ate with our hands to connect with nature or something.
You can tell it's the morning of the paraglide because we have Ian here.
>> So, I uh was pushing the limits last week and I crashlanded into the center of town. And >> that's super encouraging that this is our guide for the day. Are you kidding me? Ian did try to explain the science behind paragliding, which honestly did nothing for my anxiety. But luckily for me, the universe stepped in and bailed me out again.
>> Couple minutes after talking to Ian, we got the message that paragliding is cancelled, which kind of sucks, but there's something kind of weird happening here with the ladies and I have Phoenix, the ladies representative here. What's happening?
>> So, as ladies have been attuning to baby mama, uh we're all about to start bleeding. So, we're all feeling cramps right now. And we just got the information from Dakota that mama is um starting to have contractions right now.
So, she could go into labor any second, >> which is crazy also because all three girls were late.
>> Yeah. Yeah.
>> And all three girls are sinking up today.
>> Yeah.
>> And now Sedona and then the paragliding is cancelled.
>> Yeah.
>> So, something very weird is happening.
>> Mhm.
>> Um and it's very exciting. So yeah, hopefully yeah, hopefully we get a baby today in paragliding tomorrow.
>> Since the paragliding was cancelled and Sedona was about to go into labor, the schedule opened up. I got a workout in with my friend here.
>> Oh, Sedona's water just broke.
>> Taking a deep breath in. As you go along in your retreat day, I want to invite in that you are holding the space for this being to come into the world.
>> We held a prayer ceremony for Sedona as she was going into labor. Now, you might have noticed by now that some of these activities are are a bit hippie- dippy.
Now, in my last video, I actually tried out every single weird hippie ritual I could find. So, at this point, I was pretty numb to the weirdness of these rituals >> cuz I I Okay, go like this. Go like this. Just like if you get cold easily, >> your hands are pushing you.
>> Oh, a long sleeve shirt but and pants.
But >> all right, so last day we're going out paragliding cuz yesterday it was windy.
By the way, Sedona did give birth to a baby girl. So yeah, you know the drill.
Got to take a 20minut hike just to get to the port. Got my laundry with me cuz I'm I'm out of underwear at this point.
All right, we have crossed the lake and I can't say I'm uh as calm as I was 30 minutes ago. I'm starting to feel a bit bit of the pressure, but just got to embrace it. Got to trust the people. One of the things someone said here, which I kind of like is anxiety and excitement is the same emotion and it's just interpreted differently in our brain.
So, just going to try to embrace it. And I'm excited. I'm not anxious. I'm excited.
Oh my god.
>> Holy space.
>> Oh.
Give me time.
>> Whoa.
>> My balls feel tangly.
>> I got that, too.
>> Faith.
Faith's one of those things that you can't actually see. You'd only ever see the consequences if you're willing to believe. They say if you can conceive it, then you can achieve it. But if you don't really believe it, then you're never going to receive it. Faith. Most of us have at least gotten to the stage where we say that we have faith or we'll tell the world around us that we believe we will receive what we set out to achieve. But don't be deceived.
But the thing about faith cuz you have to leap first. You have to just trust in the universe because no reverse. Once you jump that is it to your flight you commit. You will free fall a while.
Do it in style.
>> Oh my god.
Oh, as the retreat came to an end, there were still two phobias I hadn't faced.
While waiting for the paragliding shuttle, I noticed Andre here was doodling on his iPad. His art sparked an idea I've had for over a year. During a Tony Robbins event in 2024, I learned a concept that helped me overcome a lot of anxiety and fear I had during those times. If I'm being honest, without that knowledge, I don't think I would have been able to push through and finally jump off that cliff. So, I made sure I will never forget that I am fearless.
We made it through the other side.
>> Say what's up.
>> She's just waking up from nap. We had a beautiful natural birth portal of 2 and 1/2 hours in our home here in the jungle.
>> Am I would love for you to join us. Come visit the property here in Lake Atilang, Guatemala sometime. And of course, make sure to subscribe to this YouTube
