Political parties in Nigeria often face internal conflicts when power-sharing agreements are not honored, as demonstrated by the NDC's replacement of Kwankwaso's faction candidates, which threatens party unity and raises questions about financial resources versus political influence in party building.

😳Obi vs Kwankwaso: Main Issues Between Obi & Kwankwaso Revealed! Strong Warning from Obidients & NDC
Added:So, what are you talking about here?
Eh?
I said it is these people that he gathered in Kano that are following him shouting "Kwankwasiyya, Kwankwasiyya".
Sir, I won't even come here.
I'm not I won't come here as an Igbo man.
>> Barrister >> My name would have been all over the place as the people causing terrorism in Nigeria, the people causing this and that, the people beheading people.
>> Barrister, they don't know that they don't want to say Barrister Daniel Agumoh, good evening and thank you for joining us today.
>> Esther Esther, how are you?
>> I'm fine, sir. Welcome, sir.
>> Yes, sir.
>> So, Barrister, a lot has transpired and from the weekend up till now. Let's first of all start off with security.
About 360 Nigerians have been rescued from the enclave of Boko Haram, that is those who have been in the custody of Boko Haram in Ngoshe. And Nigerians have applauded the move by the Nigerian security agents, especially our military. But, Mike Arnold, you know him, right? He has come out to dispute what the Nigerian government said that they are trying to take credit for the rescue of, you know, those victims that have been within the custody of Boko Haram. For example, Mike Arnold is saying that, "I quote, here is a word from eyewitnesses on the ground.
Soldiers delivered ransom to Boko Haram said to be somewhere between 3 and 5 billion naira. Only Muslim hostages were released. The Christian women and children remain in captivity. They were being held in a village named Gava the shadow of Mandara mountain 3 km away from the military base in Ngoshe. This is not a rescue. This is complicity and a wealth transfer to the terrorist comrades. It is also proof and a continuation of the ongoing Christian genocide." And then he released a video.
However, Nigerians have said, "We don't have issues so long as they have been released. That's what is important. If the federal government knows the casualty that will be meted out if they try to use military brutal force for the release of those victims, then it's imperative that whatever method can be applied should be applied. If the federal government paid 6 billion naira, well, so long as all of them are safe, you know, delivered to their respective homes, that's what is important. But, not all of them were rescued. They still have some of them in the camp, and possibly they want to use those ones as a means of shooting themselves to get out of that location or to demand for more money or more impressed. What's your take on this?
>> Esther, you can see deceit. I thank God that America is now involved in our matter.
>> Well, what is deceit, sir?
>> If Is that it?
>> Is that it? I can see deceit.
>> Yes.
>> Okay.
>> Because even when this news broke, I was in Abuja yesterday, also.
>> Yeah, last night.
>> I was doubting it.
I was doubting because we didn't hear or see the military confronting these guys. So, how come >> You said you didn't hear or see them. Do you usually hear and see them confront them?
>> Sorry?
>> Do you usually hear and see them confront them? They just released a report that, oh, due to an offensive or whatever whatever, certain persons have been released.
>> When did the this government tell you the truth? When did they start telling the truth?
Did you see these people that were released, Esther? Did you see anybody that were released?
>> Yes, we saw them on their videos. They were in several military trucks. They were brought to a camp.
>> And that number that they mentioned?
>> Not 360. They were many. They were about They were about three different trucks that delivered them.
>> Now that the truth has come out from the American personnel, what did the government have to say?
That they released only Muslims and kept to the Christians behind.
Is that a release? When government was negotiating with them, why didn't they say everybody must go home?
Esther, that will tell you that there are thousands hundreds of thousands of Nigerians in captivity that we don't even know about.
We don't even know about. People are languishing inside that place.
Eh? In the custody of these terrorists.
So, whenever they feel like they will release some people, and the the ability will claim that they have released some people.
It is very very sad, seriously. I never believed that Nigeria will get to this level. I never believed it.
This Nigeria that some African countries are afraid of.
Look at how terrorists have messed up up Esther.
We are now worthless before the international community.
Because they are seeing this thing, they are hearing it.
And they On the 416 of Dr. victims in Boko Haram's enclave for almost more than 2 months and I mean, it's respite to hear that 360 have been released. Are possible there other negotiation or other measures to release the remaining, you know, within Boko Haram's captivity?
Is there any guarantee that these people will not be re-adopted when these terrorists need money?
Yeah? Please, can you tell me that?
Is there any guarantee as we talk now that these terrorists will not re-adopt these people whenever they need money? Or did they put stamp on their head that yes, we have been adopted before so that the terrorists will know who to adopt and who not to adopt?
When they go on rampage, do they do they select their victims?
Yeah? You had the people that they took they took over. I mean, they adopted.
Yeah?
You had the people they adopted.
So, what are you telling me here?
Why can't government say, "Look, these people, don't touch them again, you know?"
Uh-huh, we know that at least you have secured their life forever.
But these guys, they will re-adopt and re-adopt and re-adopt.
So, what have you done? You just wasted time and money for nothing.
Because definitely, as long as these guys are alive and kicking, uh, they will definitely need money and they will adopt more people.
>> Well, so parents, are you saying we shouldn't applaud this recent move? and we're we're hopeful that you know we can see other respite in the rescue of some that still within the captivity because we had about 50 other persons who were abducted as well. Although they went on their own to reconcile with these terrorists without the government approval in some fire and they were warned not to go on their own to seek any form of reconciliatory effort and some of them were abducted. We heard about 39 of them so far has been released or 11 of them rather has been released and the other is still in the custody of this terrorist. I don't know why they like to refer to them as bandits. They're not bandits, they're terrorists. In Benue state a health worker was not just abducted, he was macheted, beheaded and they took the head away. But I mean that's completely circumspect. So every day we hear all of these killings, but the Nigerian government through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has applauded the effort of our security agencies considering what happened to them last week where in one of the barracks eight of them were slaughtered and beheaded, you know. So in reaction to this though, would you say that more precise and efforts should be taken to be more on the offensive rather than on the reactionary or defensive measure in tackling insecurity?
>> unfortunate that Nigerians are too gullible.
Very unfortunate and this political party called APC, they have taken advantage of Nigerians. If not for me for me personally, Mr. Dalinton, eh?
>> Mhm.
>> Anybody that was involved in bringing the terrorists into Nigeria should not hold any political position in Nigeria.
And I mean it.
>> But a lot of them are top henchmen in the APC.
>> what I'm telling you.
>> How about Ajuri Ngelale brought in these guys from Mali in 2015?
>> where the gullibility of Nigerians comes in.
This is people who because of power they I think they're confessing now how they removed Jonathan from because of you now brought terrorists into Nigeria.
Esther Nigerians are aware of these things. In fact, Esther, very soon I will stop talking about Nigeria. I'm not joking.
Because these people are annoying me.
These are people who went to bring criminal terrorists into Nigeria.
And they are gallivanting all over the place, deceiving me and you, claiming to be what they are not.
Eh? You brought terrorists into Nigeria, and you are not even remorse. You are not even apologetic. You are not even bothered.
And you are still asking for power.
If I have my way, none of them will taste any political position in Nigeria for what they did to Nigerian state.
That is way to go, Esther. That is the way to go.
But look at it. All over the place, they are there, openly canvassing for votes.
You know, they are not even bothered with what they have done to Nigeria.
They are not bothered. Every time they say, "Our military are fighting. Our military are We are fighting this Who brought them here?" Esther, who brought them? Something started from somewhere.
Why can't you address that issue? Punish those who did it. Punish them, Esther.
Punish them.
So, why are you telling me that the military Look at how many of our military that we have lost because of this thing, Esther. Look at how young men that are not even married.
They have They have lost their life fighting this thing that you people brought into Nigeria. Esther, brought into Nigeria into Nigeria.
Yet, nobody Nobody has ever mentioned this thing, Esther.
Eh? Nobody. It's very annoying. This is something Nigerians should have discussed in a national conference.
Eh? Call out those who brought these people into Nigeria. Call them out.
Let Nigerians know them and the role they played.
Very obvious. Very very very obvious to everybody. Yet, nobody want to talk about it, Esther. The same people want to grab power again. The same people.
>> Barrister, it's quite unfortunate to keep on hearing this. But whatever effort the Nigerian government needs to apply, uh this is the best time they need to apply it. Wouldn't you comment uh the the prospect of the release of those uh 360 victims while we await what they intend to do with Oyo State? The lady, the principal, the woman has come out to make another video make another video to Nigerians. She said that the talk that um they said the terrorist said they would uh demanding 1 billion naira and that they want the Oyo State government to change their laws to Sharia law, that it is not true. That it it's not what the terrorists meant by that. That please people should not misconstrue things and so that they can facilitate their release. At this juncture, what should Nigerians believe?
>> The people are under captivity. They are under duress. Whatever they say they are cannot be tendered in court.
Esther.
>> What are you talking about?
>> under duress. So, that thing that woman is saying will I won't even listen to it because when you're under duress, you'll be told what to say and what not to say.
Is that not true? Uh-huh. So, why can't the terrorists talk? After all, they've been sending pictures all over the Why can't they talk? Uh are you telling me that uh the the the speaker of uh Oyo State House of Assembly who who narrated the condition the terrorists gave you?
>> Yeah, you're right.
>> Uh-huh. He narrated it. So, is it not contradictory to the what this woman told you, Esther?
>> Hm.
>> Is it not contradictory to tell you that this is the time for propaganda and deceit?
Uh you can see now.
Why are they even demanding for any ransom? For what?
Why are they demanding for any ransom?
Uh why are they? Is it their right? Are they supposed to?
I said there are people in this country they are above the law.
Esther, they are above the law.
>> But you you you know, while they continue to donate money to this terrorist, where they demand stuff, it's almost like we're enabling them to continue to whatever whoever are their sponsors. We've heard so many conspiracy theories. We've heard that this money is are being given to the same white men or European counterparts they were soliciting to help us. You know, we've also heard that it's the same government people that are collecting this money at the end of the day. There's so many, you know, speculations rife out there as to how the network of this, you know, terrorism, banditry, killing, kidnapping is ongoing. It's become an expeditious financially enriching network to politicians and his minions who are executing their plans while they use, you know, innocent Nigerians as bait to do this. However, the president has commended the Nigerian security agencies. But like I said, because of this, politics is actually what is on the rise. Peter Obi has come out to say, "Please, stop the ethnic profiling of Fulani's as an ethnic group." He says it's completely wrong. That being an Igbo man, he also faces the bane of ethnic profiling every day. For example, in 2019, when Peter Obi was run as a deputy of VP to Atiku Abubakar during the campaign, what these same APC persons went to say was that "A vote for Atiku means you're voting for an Igbo person because Peter Obi was deputy at the time. You know, a vote for for Atiku means you're voting for Biafra." And then right now in 2026, the talk now is that, "Oh, a vote for an Igbo man is the same thing as you're voting for Biafra." So, regardless of anyhow you see it, he keeps saying that he has always been at the crossroads of being ethnically profiled and that a crime is crime. A thief is a thief regardless of where they come from. So, we should be careful that this is what the politicians do to divide the polity and distract Nigerians from the true crux of what is bedeviling us. Very quickly, what's your take on that?
>> If they call out a criminal, I have nothing wrong with that. Esther.
>> Mhm.
>> If they call out a criminal, a known criminal, confirmed, eh? Not that somebody is alleging, not that somebody is something that everybody can relate to.
>> Yeah.
>> I have no problem with that. Seriously.
They should tell us the crime the Ibos committed or appear to be committed.
Can you compare the the self-determination agitation of the Ibos or Nnamdi Kanu to what the terrorists are doing from in the North East, uh?
Is it comparable?
No, is it comparable? After all, Nigerians should know the people that are behind these terrorists.
They know. So, what is the what is the the deceit here?
Call them out because I know that if it is from from the other side, Esther, I wouldn't even come here.
I'm not I won't come here as an Ibo man.
>> Barrister >> My name would have been all over the place as the people causing terrorism in Nigeria, the people causing this and that, the people beheading people. But they know now, they don't want to say it.
>> Barrister, let's quickly move on to the political scene. Anytime we have conversations like this, decision-making policies of any administration also depends on the kind of politics that they run. And gradually, the campaign season is approaching. And then we're seeing a lot of theatrics take place in the polity, from political parties to the judiciary to INEC as an institution that has not represented a sense of independency or autonomy, you know. And there are really calls on Amobi to either resign or something should be done in a total overhaul of how INEC is being run. But before we go into that, Kwankwaso has threatened to leave the NDC, right? And what exactly is the issue? So, the former Kano State governor threatened to leave the Nigerian Democratic Congress after the party replaced several Kwankwaso faction candidates in Kano to enforce a pre-agreed 60-40 power-sharing formula favoring his block at 60%. So, let me let me explain some things have been going on. So, now in the NDC, you know, ever since the primaries were conducted, they haven't released a list. So, there were talks that certain persons are using monies to see how the results or the outcome from the primaries can be changed to favor them. Talking about the primaries that were conducted in different states and different constituencies. All right. So, here is what happened. The Sir Dickson party, the NDC, when that party was put together, a lot of PDP members, remember that Sir Dickson is a PDP man, a lot of PDP members also went along to that party with him. These people were already on ground. Now, obviously, before Peter Obi and Kwankwaso joined, there was already an agreement. You know, this is a percentage of the kind of persons you can bring or refer to be implemented in the party or given certain positions. We already have our people. Now, there are concerns that maybe, possibly because of how things were horridly done, some concessions couldn't be properly actualized, signed, and sealed by either Peter Obi and Kwankwaso. So, the ADC, that is the Atiku minions, and the APC data boys were all saying that Kwankwaso is in his house installing his persons, but Peter Obi has found it difficult to fight for his own people. You remember the whole Aisha Yusuf scenario and the likes. Then, we now heard about a reconciliatory committee being set up, and they held a conference to that effect, where Peter Obi talked about party members need to learn to sacrifice. Obviously, that statement was used to criticize him because they felt if that was the case, he ought to have sacrificed to deputize Atiku. Although some Nigerians believe that that's not the case. Peter Obi had sacrificed for Atiku in 2019. Atiku is someone who just wants to continue to campaign. Anyways, in regards to that, you know, the NDC, that caused an imbroglio. There was chaos, and they all came on social media complaining. I was disobedient. I did this. I worked hard. I could not secure the ticket. I'm hearing that they want to change my name to give my my my wing to someone else. Now, some Labour Party members who joined Labour Party on Peter Obi wave and they won, obviously defected to the APC. They did not win their ticket or they did not win their primary. All right? A lot of them were not given a comeback ticket. So, they all ran and joined the ADC. They brought their money bags to campaign, to run, and say, "I have the money. Whatever it takes, I will do." Now, for the NDC, they need money. They need people who can ensure that they win their polling unit. They also need people who can campaign for themselves because at this point in time, being a baby party, the party cannot afford to financially back you up. So, they need people who can use their money to campaign for themselves when campaign begins. Now, some persons who have joined this political movement fresh new may not have the financial backing, but they may have the popularity. That that's where the dilemma actually comes in. So, the NDC now released a statement today. And that statement, a couple of Obedience considered it derogatory and even the Kwankwasiyya. So, the NDC the National Publicity Secretary of the NDC released a statement saying that the NDC is committed to building the party as a strong and enduring institution. The party remains supreme. Members are expected to align their personal interests and agendas with those of the party. All affiliated groups and NGOs shall operate under the guidance and control of the party and must not function in parallel with or independently of the party structure.
Now, a national reconciliatory committee has been set up. A comprehensive code of conduct shall be established for all party officials and candidates. To this end, a committee has been constituted.
The NDC is viewed as an institution, not a personality cult, political movement, or special purpose vehicle to be used and discarded. This particular um number five of this publicity statement is what um the critics of the NDC have been using to blacklist the Obedient movement as Peter Obi or the Kwankwasiyya. Now, here is the disparity. A lot of Obedients are not in any political party. They just want campaigns to begin where they bring their money to support Peter Obi. So, the question is, if the party is giving these rules, are they saying if there is any campaign donation you want to give to Peter Obi or Kwankwaso, you must come to the party, donate it into the party account for the party to use for themselves? Others believe that um Sadiq Abubakar intends to use this NDC Peter Obi as a clout ahead of 2031, that the goal is not for 2027, but it's for 2031. Use the energy of the Obedients to establish this party across all the states of the federation, make it a strong contender against the APC, utilize it for 2031. So, in all of this, what's your take?
>> All these speculations and permutations is I does not add up.
Because uh there is a there is a a project ahead. And NDC is interested in that project. That is 2027.
And so, anybody telling me that it is all about 2031, I will not agree.
The facts on ground does not support that.
If it were so, Peter Obi wouldn't have left ADC.
>> Uh-huh.
>> He wouldn't. He would have remained in ADC.
Then plan for 2031.
>> What if things were hurriedly done and some agreements could not be totally signed? You know, at this point in time you're looking for a party and it's like you're at the mercy of the party. So, what if there were conditions given and there was no time to go through these conditions or wait it out?
>> No, there is no nothing wrong in making sacrifices for the good of the party. That is how parties are built.
You know, that is how parties are built.
>> many people will sacrifice? Because we're even hearing that Kwankwaso had more of his people than, you know, Peter Obi. And they complained that maybe Peter Obi only negotiated for himself, did not negotiate for his people. But that's not the case, you know, there is an agreement for certain people to be there. Maybe he's not talking about it yet.
>> If everybody begin to drag for his rights, >> Mhm.
>> eh nothing will be done, no.
Nothing.
If everybody begins to say I must be the person, I must be the person, Esther, don't be surprised that NDC will become his head.
So, the earlier they see their sword and stop all this shenanigans, the better.
>> So, what are you saying? Kwankwaso is threatening to leave, and also Peter Obi as well.
And you may he may decide not to be part of the whole process.
>> place Kwankwaso can go today. He's just threatening people. He cannot go any to any He can't without a Peter Obi. Eh?
Kwankwaso cannot go to any place.
>> But why are you saying that? What do you mean by that?
>> Because ah, it is a Peter Obi. Eh? It is a Peter Obi popularity that is driving NDC now. You and I know that.
>> No, it's not just Peter Obi. There's a Kwankwasiyya move. They're also very popular.
>> If they are that the DC, okay, why did you Why is he giving condition now?
>> But you know that Kwankwaso has always been like that. You remember that when he was negotiating it was all about his own people, and they felt the demands were too much. That was why it was stopped. Oh, he has a lot of his people that he wanted to install. That's one of the reasons why he could not enter the APC.
>> For a new party that is looking for funds, uh you may be bringing 1 million people, but all of them are not even worth 1 billion.
And somebody can single-handedly bring 2 billion to assist the party.
So, who Who now is the is the driving source of the party? Who? Is it the man who brought 2 billion or you that brought people who are just to say oh yes member?
No, look at it yourself. So, you cannot say because you brought all the talakawas in Kano, therefore you are going to dominate the party.
What are they bringing to the table?
Because this is all about people and money. In fact, money first.
Money because the project at hand requires money.
So, Kwankwaso should be very, very careful and stopped threatening anybody.
If the If he goes out today, he will not go far with those people he's talking about. How many of them have a deep pocket? How many of them?
How many of them, Esther? Is it possible that Kwankwaso I mean Kwankwaso can bring somebody who will come and bring 2 billion, 3 billion into NDC?
Is it possible? Who is that person?
That you brought a crowd of rabble-rousers here and they are and they are following you.
>> What What do you mean by a crowd of rabble-rousers? Barrister, don't you think that's Is it Is it Is it wrong for them to make the noise? Is that not Is that not what their supporters is the noise that gives them the leverage? Is the noise that gives your political principles the leverage? Just like the APC makes noise about the the president as well as, you know, any other of their principles in different states.
>> The money we are talking about here, how much has Kwankwaso brought to the table?
>> You can't say. You don't know.
>> Really?
>> Yes, you you can't make such a statement where you don't have any fact to that.
>> I said I said how much I did I know?
>> No, but you can't you can't use that as a yardstick to say that Kwankwaso cannot leave or because of certain persons.
>> I checked, Kwankwaso have no deep pocket. He's not He was not a businessman. He had never been.
The last time I checked, oh, Kwankwaso is not a businessman. He never He never run any business in the order of people be.
You and I know that. So, what are you talking about here?
Huh?
I said it is these people that he gathered in Kano that are following him shouting Kwankwaso here, Kwankwaso here.
Is that Is that what will grow the party? Is that what will give party the party victory?
If there is no financial muscle to to pursue their goal and all that, how far can they go?
>> So, you don't think what was released today by the publicity secretary is a means to gag these guys because even the money Do you remember what happened in the Labour Party where you had different groups donating money. The NDC doesn't want that. They want everything to be done through the party. And unfortunately, some of the Obedients are saying, "We won't do that. You won't tell us what to do with our money and how we want to support our principal.
So, don't come here, gag us, tell us what to do like we're desperate or something like that." And then there are calls that this time around, if whatever is the outcome after the 2027 elections, whether Peter Obi continues in the political space or not, he must make sure he gets a political party where his ideals and values will become the foundation and the structure for the existence of such a party.
>> I will advise Kwankwaso to stop these threats of leaving the party because if he had actually the financial muscle, he would have gone to any other party and become their presidential candidate.
That is just the truth. He followed Obi as a vice. He said he that he's coming in as a vice.
So, why didn't he say, "Because of the money I have, I can weather it on my own. I can I can pardon my own king."
Then he will look for one other party and then go there and become the presidential candidate with his resources. Is that not true?
>> Mhm.
>> So, it is the Peter Obi popularity that is driving him.
I now challenge him. After all, Peter Obi, you saw all the time when wherever he go, they followed him. Is that not true? Wherever Peter Obi any party Peter Obi goes to, the crowd will follow him.
>> All right, Barrister Daniel Tagelmo, good morning.
>> following Kwankwaso, is it not people from Kano?
>> All right, you can say now he's getting some southern southern some southern presence.
Barrister Daniel Tagelmo, thank you so much for your analysis on the world news. Obviously, we'll continue during the evening rush. And just before we go, let's look at stories outside the shores of Nigeria. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that his country will hold off on attacking Iran for now, but once Israel respond forcefully, strikes resume. In a televised address, he says the fire's contained after Iran earlier announced that it would stop striking Israel. Both sides have promised to retaliate if fighting begins again, and Iran has warned of a severe response if the Israel Defense Forces continues striking southern Lebanon. The pause in hostilities follows calls from US President Donald Trump for both sides to stop shooting. Well, Israel carried out airstrikes in western and central Iran after Iran began firing missiles at Israel on Sunday. While at least 35 have died after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao Island in the southern Philippines. The quick hit at 7:37 a.m. local time today triggering tsunami alerts in the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan, and Australia. The warnings were canceled or downgraded hours later. Videos and images showed buildings collapsing including a slip of a Jollibee fast food restaurant reduced to rubble, and landslides have been recorded in some areas. In an update this afternoon, the country's office of civil defense said 31 of the fatalities have been recorded in Soccsksargen while the other four were in Davao. Officials in the Philippines said that at least 134 have been injured, and some 10,000 families displaced. Authorities gave an earlier death toll of 32 with 12 people reported missing. That's a wrap on the world news.
