Hiking away Anxiety | Manderfield PreserveAdded:
Good morning everyone. Today I am in Rock Hill Township, which I believe is Bucks County, and I'm in the Manderville Nature Preserve.
It's Memorial Day weekend and it's supposed to rain all weekend.
which is horrible, but I do have my trusty umbrella.
So, there's a lot of trails that go off to the side here. There's this main, which actually appears to be a road. It probably was a road at one time.
So, this is pretty cool. We've got a couple gnomes living inside the tree here.
And this appears to be a very old tree.
Look at the bark just kind of peeling off.
Not sure what type of tree this is.
But it is very cool.
I'm not sure how large this preserve is, so I want to be a little careful.
Um, whoa, check this out.
This is just a fun little trail so far. Anyway, what I was saying is I want to be a little careful because I'm by myself and if you watch my videos, especially my hiking videos, you know I tend to get lost a lot and it's a rainy morning. It's a little cold out.
It's only about 52 degrees, which for this time of year, it's kind of cold.
So, I kind of want to stay on one trail if possible.
I'm thinking we're probably going to have the trail to ourselves because it's raining. And I think we're going to see a lot of these boulders as we walk along the trail.
You can see what I'm saying. The trails go off in all different directions. So, I just got here and I'm already worried about getting lost. This is why I like to go hiking with somebody.
So, I'm just going to stay on this one trail for now.
As much as I love sunshine, there's something kind of nice about a rainy spring morning here.
Again, we have one of these boulders.
Lots of rocks in this part of Pennsylvania.
Rock Hill Township. I think we're kind of near Quaker Town if you know where Quaker Town is.
We have some rocks lined up here.
Almost appears as if maybe this was a property divider at one time and I sort of just drove by here today.
Um, this is kind of like a hidden.
And again, we have trails going off in all different directions.
I do see a red blaze. I don't know if we've been following red blazes so far, but um, a blaze means it's a trail.
Hopefully, it's a loop.
This is kind of interesting. This rock I'm on right now. It almost appears as if it's cracked down the middle. So, there's a rock here. There's a rock there.
And they almost appear to be sort of like a what am I trying to say? Like a puzzle piece, right? You have this here would fit right into that. So, at one time this was all one boulder.
Oh, this is kind of cool here. Look at this huge rocks here.
Huge rock.
So, of course, I'm going to climb up on that rock, but I do have to be careful because once again, Jen does not have the proper footwear and it's raining, so this is probably slippery, but this is a very cool section. You can see we have the rocks here.
We got a rocks over there. It's kind of like a rock garden and this trail cuts right through it.
Climbing up on these rocks.
Oh yeah, this is pretty wonderful.
Rockylvania, my friends.
Rockylvania.
And you know, I'm looking right over there. I see another road. I'm almost wondering, is that the road we came in from? If so, which I'm going to walk over there, then I sort of have my bearings and I won't worry so much about wandering around.
So, let's kind of walk up here.
and see what we see. So, here we have what appears to be another road. Now, is this the same way we came in that I do not know?
Oh, yeah. So, this this to me was an old street at one time.
So, I just did a quick look up and this Mander Field Preserve, I think I was calling it the Manderville. It's Manderfield Preserve. And as you can see, it's starting to rain pretty hard now. I have my umbrella. The Manderfield Preserve is only about 54 acres. So, I don't think there's I don't think I have to worry too much about getting lost.
But, you know, you have to wonder why.
You have to wonder why is this all paved? It must have been a road at one time.
Okay. So, now the road is coming to an end and we are on sort of a rocky terrain and I think it's going to get muddy.
Good times. You know, I actually have hiking boots in my car and um I probably should have put those on, but I did not.
So, I'm going to be careful. All right.
So, I'm going to keep continue down here a little bit more.
Very rocky. Very rocky and very slippery.
Now I see a blue blaze on that tree. So, we are on a different trail.
This is just uh beautiful though, right?
On a hot sunny day, I'm thinking this would probably be full of snakes.
I don't want to get bit by a snake today. Do they come out in the rain? I don't know. I know they sun themselves when it's warm out. Maybe they stay sheltered when it's rainy like this and nasty.
What made me come out hiking today?
I'm being honest with you. I've sort of been feeling a little down lately.
And I think it's because there's just so much going on in the world these days and I tend to get sucked into watching the news, way more than I should.
And if you're living in America, you quite possibly you're feeling the same way. There's just so much going on, you know, whereas maybe at one time there'd be something something happening maybe like once a week or once every couple weeks that would just really kind of get me upset. But now, oh my god, it seems like it's it's every couple hours.
So, I just needed some nature. A hike, a nice hike out in the woods, sometimes even by yourself. It's the best therapy around and it doesn't cost anything. So, get out there, folks. All right, so I took this little side trail and it is leading us to a creek or a stream or something.
as I'm trying to put my umbrella down.
It's uh it's not easy to hike with an umbrella, especially when you're hiking through areas like this. I'm just going to put this here and head down and check out this what I believe to be a creek.
Oh, wow. And we have a nice little trail here along the creek.
This This just looks really natural.
Like this is the way Pennsylvania would have looked before all the settlers got here.
There's some huge like elephant ear type plants over there. But I do not think I'm going to be able to get over there.
This is just a beautiful, peaceful spot as I sit here and get wet.
All right, let's hike down here. I want to remember where my umbrella is, so I don't want to go too far, but this is kind of nice.
again right there. There's like those I I guess they're elephant ears, but they they look huge from over here.
There's probably there probably aren't any trails over there, so they're just allowed to grow, I guess.
Some beautiful plant life here. I do want to be careful that I don't touch anything like poison ivy or sumac again. I swear the sumac poisoning I had maybe a month ago was so bad. It took so long to go away.
And I still and I still kind of have a couple spots that are itchy.
So, I need to be a little more careful when I'm out hiking in areas like this.
All right. So, I made my way back to the road. If my memory serves me correct, we parked down this way. I'm going to continue a little further up this road.
and see what we see. There appears to be some mobile homes up there.
So, this what I'm calling a road must sort of be on the border of the park.
I guess it's just a matter of looking for small trails.
And 54 acres isn't huge. So, so pretty difficult to get lost here. But if it is possible, I'll find a way.
And I do have to mention with all these wild flowers blooming, it smells wonderful here. Unfortunately, that doesn't come across on the camera.
But trust me, folks, it smells beautiful. And there are some other wonderful rocks over there. So, I'm going to try to make my way over there.
Little chance of running into anyone down here today.
Not too many crazy people wandering down here in the rain.
As I mentioned before, this is Memorial Day weekend. So, unfortunately, it's not a great weekend to be down the shore, which is kind of what people from southeastern Pennsylvania tend to do on Memorial Day.
And this and this, my friends, is slippery. So I got to be Whoa.
Careful. All right, I am back up. So I am up on this rock.
You know, I kind of think that's the trail we were on before, and I was on that rock. So, as I mentioned before, this place is not large, but it's beautiful. Look at that rock over there. That is just a very cool rock. I need to make my way over there.
But I also have to remember where the trusty umbrella is because it is raining pretty hard. But it looks as if at any moment it's going to start pouring. I don't mind getting a little wet, but I don't want to get drenched, you know. But check out that rock over there. That is beautiful. How it's just kind of sitting up there. I like that. I like it a lot.
Just a beautiful mossy rock on a mossy kind of day.
Mossy kind of day. Does that make any sense?
Probably not, but I think you know what I mean. Rainy Moss loves a rainy day.
At least I would think so.
Always fun just wandering through these rock gardens.
Not the best day to jump from rock to rock. So I need to be careful.
I want to take a moment to thank everyone that's been watching my videos. Uh, it really does mean a lot and all of you that have been leaving wonderful comments, I absolutely appreciate it. I know that old Jenny asks a lot of questions in her videos. Um, not so much on these hiking videos, abandoned areas or ruins or old industrial sites, railroads, all that good stuff. I'm so fortunate to find all the answers to my questions in the comments. And those of you leaving the comments, you know who you are. So, thank you. Oh my gosh, look at the sky.
Isn't that beautiful?
It's my umbrella. See that way? The sky is always a beautiful shade of blue.
It's my optimism umbrella.
All right, let's head down here a little bit more.
Pretty soon, this is going to get really muddy. It's starting to rain a lot harder now.
I am glad that I brought my umbrella, though. I almost jumped out of the car without it, thinking, h, how wet am I going to get?
And we have some colorful turkey tails here.
Nice vibrant color, right?
And then we have some here which are not colorful. So, the question I would have, are these just like an older version of these?
And are these turkey tails? I kind of think they are.
Okay, so my feet are getting soaked, so I think I'm just going to end the video here. This was a short video. Um, but thanks for watching. If you haven't already subscribed, please consider doing so. And um, sorry if I sounded a little whiny earlier. Things are just a little bit nuts in the world right now.
And maybe by sharing how I'm feeling, maybe there's some people out there that uh, won't feel quite as much alone with maybe some of the anxiety and stress they're feeling from what's going on in the world.
Who knows? Again, thanks for watching. I'll see you in the next video. You have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Take care, everybody.
