[00:00:25]Oral questions, Mr. Speaker. The honorable MEMBER FOR THORNHILL.

[00:00:31]THIS WEEK OUR NATIONAL CREDIT card got quite the workout. $37 billion in new inflationary spending, nearly $1,000 for every Canadian. And who pays? Canadian families forced to max out their own credit cards to buy groceries and pay the rent. And for all of that spending, we still have the highest food inflation in the G7, the highest housing prices, and now we spend more to service the debt than we do on health care to the provinces. Mr. Speaker, when does this government stop tabling reckless credit card budgets so the Canadian families can just afford to get by?

[00:01:04]The honorable member for job Minister for jobs and families. Mr. Speaker, if investing in skilled trades workers and opportunities for young people and helping apprentices in the pipeline finish with the red seal is inflationary unnecessary spending, I guess we see where these guys are going in terms of their support. But let me tell you what the building trades union said yesterday. Sean Strickland, Robert Kucheran, AND SO MANY OTHER building trades unions from across the country.

[00:01:31]They said, "Go hard, go far." And they're so happy with the investment in workers across this country and they can't believe that Conservative Party won't get behind them.

[00:01:45]I'm glad that that Minister improved her self-control this time around. And I'm not surprised that another Trudeau holdover is pretending that everything is fine. The reality is is this liberal government has killed the middle class.

[00:01:58]It's killed the very workers that it's now purporting to protect. For more than a decade with higher taxes and inflationary spending, the $37 billion of new spending from the lead latest credit card budget is only going to make things worse and everybody knows that.

[00:02:13]So once again, will they stop the delusion and stop the spending so the Canadians can actually get ahead?

[00:02:24]WELL, I DON'T KNOW WHICH Canadian she's talking about, Mr. Speaker, but let me talk about some of the hard-working people across the country that are working so hard together to build up this country. People like electricians and plumbers and automotive technicians and crane operators and heavy equipment operators. In fact, many of our sons and daughters all across this country who are getting their skilled trades training but having a hard time getting through. And you know what, Mr. Speaker, we're going to make sure that no one gets left behind. It's more than we can say for these guys.

[00:02:56]Um the honorable member for Regina Capelle. This week's costly budget update shows the Liberals are continuing their decade of credit card budgeting.

[00:03:05]More costs, more debt, more taxes, just more of the same. It turns out this Prime Minister is not some kind of financial expert. He's just another costly liberal. His deficit is double Justin Trudeau's. He's forcing Canadians to pay more on interest on the on the debt than on health care. And what's the result? They've delivered the worst inflation in 40 years, the worst food price inflation, the only shrinking economy in the G7. So when will this Liberal Prime Minister end his costly credit card budgeting so Canadians can afford to live?

[00:03:35]The honorable Secretary of State for Labour. Bernois knows very well that Canada is in the best fiscal position in the G7. But Mr. Speaker, you know, yesterday question period I didn't hear the Conservatives mention the word workers once. So let's hear from workers directly. Let's hear from Colin Daniels who represents the Saskatchewan building trades and is one of the member of the mighty iron workers, Mr. Speaker. What Colin Daniels says is this is a historic announcement from the Liberal government supporting apprentices and iron worker training centers through investments like U tip. This is a critical part in delivering Canada's historic level of infrastructure investment. These are nation-building projects depend on a strong skilled workforce.

[00:04:16]The honorable member for Elgin-St. Thomas-London South. The Liberals say this is a quote new government, but the only things that have changed are the color of the Prime Minister's socks and the size of the deficit. This Liberal Prime Minister has double Justin Trudeau's deficit, maxing out the country's credit cards, and forcing Canadians to pay more to bankers and bondholders >> [laughter] >> rather than roads and hospitals. Even the Globe and Mail sees through this saying, quote, "It's clear the Liberals have no intention of changing their high-spending ways." Maybe that's why the Liberals are sending more money to the media in their fiscal update. Why is this costly Liberal government pretending that new means improved?

[00:04:57]The honorable Secretary of State for Finance Institution. Legs.

[00:05:01]Mr. Speaker, while that party doubles down on offering nothing for Canadians, we're going to build the strongest economy in the G7. We just tabled the spring economic update which confirms we have the strongest fiscal position in the G7. We also announced, Mr. Speaker, the sovereign wealth fund which will spark massive investment in our country, a fund by Canada for Canadians. Time for that party to get off the sidelines, help us to build Canada strong. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

[00:05:35]Mr. Speaker, I wish that member were laser-focused on answering a question for once. This budget PROVES NOTHING HAS CHANGED. SAME liberal excuses, same liberal spending addiction, same liberal credit CARD JUST WITH A MUCH higher limit. Canadians are paying more for groceries, more for rent, more in taxes while this Prime Minister doubles down on the same failed borrow and spend policies that gave Canada the worst inflation in 40 years. SIMPLE QUESTION, WHY should Canadians be forced to make the credit card payments for this Prime MINISTER'S RECKLESS SPENDING?

[00:06:10]>> [applause] >> MR. SPEAKER, he may say same answers, but they had the same question around from member to member.

[00:06:17]>> [laughter] >> We're focused on building the strongest economy in the G7, Mr. Speaker. We're focused on affordability, making life more affordable for Canadians. At home we're cutting taxes. We just launched a groceries incentive benefit. We just cut the federal excise tax on fuel combined with the carbon tax cut, that's 28 cents.

[00:06:37]Our spring economic update confirms our fiscal position is strong. We have the leader to build Canada strong. They have a leader who's never worked a day outside of this house. Thank you, Mr. Speaker.

[00:06:52]>> Liberals promised a quote unquote new government, but we do in fact see more of the same. We see more costly spending, more taxes, and ultimately more prices to pay for Canadians.

[00:07:02]Whether it's the grocery store or the gas at the pumps or their mortgages that they're trying to pay month to month, Canadians are struggling to make ends meet because of the costly policies of this government. The only thing that these costly Liberals seem to be interested in balancing, of course, is their political spin, which is exactly what we're seeing today. So will they admit that they in fact have failed Canadians and promise to do better going forward?

[00:07:24]Uh the honorable parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Energy. Mr. Speaker, the more precise they try to sound, the more Canadians should be deeply suspicious of their claims because they zoom in when the world view does not actually reflect anything that they're talking about here. Let's talk about the facts. 20 trade security deals have made 40% increase in non-US trade. Wages growing faster than inflation, created more jobs than the US last year. House prices down, rents down, inflation overall WITHIN BOUNDS FOR MONTHS and months and months. MOU with Alberta has created durable climate action, new energy in production and record production in Alberta. And we do all that with the strongest fiscal position IN THE G7.

[00:08:13]Let's focus on the facts.

[00:08:15]>> [laughter] >> The Liberals are spending so much that they actually have doubled Trudeau's deficit. Now that's quite the accomplishment because Trudeau's deficit, of course, was massive in nature, historic in fact. And so the fact that this government has doubled it is quite something. Now the reason why this matters so much is not because they spent so much money, but because they did it and incurred debt. And that debt lands on the backs of Canadians, whether it's families or seniors or students who are DOING THEIR VERY BEST to make ends meet. This government can do something about it. So why do they insist on being an incredibly costly, INEFFECTIVE LIBERAL THE [applause] HONORABLE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY.

[00:08:59]MR. SPEAKER, I'm happy to run through the list again. I'm not sure they'd be so happy to hear it, but let's talk about this. In a time where we've got global strife, we've got wars in Iran and Ukraine, in a time where we've got trade wars with the United States, Canada is standing at the top of the pack. We are number two in economic growth in the G7. We have the strongest fiscal position in the G7. We are investing in families, we're investing in communities, and there are so much that we need to do and we are just getting started. And we do welcome the members of opposite to get on board with us all.

[00:09:33]News flash. Families, parents, they want to feed their own kids. They don't want to have to rely on government just to be able to get by. I know it's hard for these Liberals to understand that, but that's what parents think every single day. So the question is simple. Will they finally drop all of their deficit spending and bring things in budget? How many more reports have to come out before the Liberals stop this co- cra- costly credit card spending and make food more affordable for families.

[00:10:07]Uh Mr. Speaker, I'd love a direct answer. Are we talking deficit spending such as the school lunch program? Are we talking deficit spending like like the groceries and essentials benefit? Are we talking deficit spending like the gas excise tax? I'd love to know what deficit spending they're worried about because we're focused on affordability on this side and we're going to make sure we're there for Canadians.

[00:10:32]Mr. Speaker, that was a Google search of a list of things the liberals have put on the national credit card. This costly credit card budget means more debt, more cost, more spending, more taxes, more of the same. Nothing has changed. This liberal prime minister is just another costly liberal except he's managed to double Trudeau's debt deficit. Food bank visits have doubled. One in three Canadians is borrowing just to eat and families are feeling the pain at the grocery store. Deficits mean inflation today and taxes tomorrow that the liberals keep doubling down. Why are the liberals fanning the flames of higher costs and higher deficits instead of putting out the fire for Canadians struggling to afford groceries, gas, and housing?

[00:11:12]>> this is not a Google search. These are real projects with real workers building big things. Darlington's new nuclear project in Bowmanville, 18,000 jobs.

[00:11:20]Port of Montreal expansion, 8,000 jobs.

[00:11:22]The Copper Mine project in Saskatchewan, 500 jobs. The Gray Spruce Road and Port project enabling 3,000 jobs. And the LNG Canada 2 phase upcoming, 7,000 jobs.

[00:11:33]This is how we build Canada strong, MR. SPEAKER.

[00:11:37]THE honorable member honorable member for Haldimand-Norfolk. This prime minister has doubled Trudeau's deficits and now Canadians are lining up at food banks and unable to afford groceries.

[00:11:48]Now the liberals want to sell off national infrastructure and put the money into their sovereign debt fund. We have seen this before with the failed infrastructure bank which is losing money and is which is built on deficits.

[00:12:04]Does this prime minister understand that his spending spree is leaving Canadians with more debt and higher costs?

[00:12:14]The honorable the honorable minister.

[00:12:18]Mr. Speaker, with our spring economic Sorry, Mr. Speaker, with our spring economic update, what we're doing is we're supporting workers and young Canadians. We're making sure that life is more affordable for Canadians. We're building strong and safer communities and again, introducing a sovereign wealth fund to make sure that Canadians can have direct access to the success of Canada. And Mr. Speaker, that member is from Ontario. I don't know what she has against our major projects which is building the Darlington nuclear project in Bowmanville, Canada's Nickel Copper project, Mr. Speaker. These are just some of the investments that we're making here in this province and we're That is the way we're going to build our country strong.

[00:12:58]The honorable member for Regina Qu'Appelle. Workers are tired of seeing their paychecks devalued by liberal inflation, Mr. Speaker. That's what workers are saying across this country.

[00:13:07]But after nearly a decade of this costly liberal government, Canadians are maxed out while this prime minister has maxed out the country's credit card. If we want to play the quote game, don't play don't take my word for it. Even the Globe and Mail wrote, quote, "The Trudeau government did all sorts of things that steadily made matters worse fiscally and economically speaking. The new prime minister's government will do almost nothing to make them better." So again, will these liberals stop with the credit card budgeting so that Canadians can afford to live?

[00:13:41]Mr. Speaker, our spring economic update is making very smart investments and making life more affordable for Canadians. The opposition doesn't seem to ever want to talk about affordable housing and the success that we are having bringing rents down for 18 months in a row. And in this update, we're seeing up to 100,000 Canadian workers that are going to help build the affordable housing for the decades to come. Make sure life is more affordable especially for young Canadians looking for that first time home buyers tax break and the ability to have a career building homes for Canadians. Thank you.
