Biblical optimism is a faith-based mindset that maintains positive expectation and hope in God's promises, regardless of circumstances, as demonstrated by Caleb's courageous response in Numbers 13:30-33 and Paul's declaration in Philippians 4:13 that 'I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.' This optimistic outlook requires actively filtering out consistently negative influences in one's circle, setting one's mind on positive things (Philippians 4:8), and recognizing that God's power is not limited by circumstances or numbers (1 Samuel 14:6).

Bible Study: Optimistic (May 18, 2026)Added:
This one was a little strange, too. So, it was like, "All right, we gonna uh gonna make sure that nobody gets sick coming to church." And so, uh, we went online and been there ever since. And then here we are. We're back for for one night only. And, uh, but I'm I'm grateful to all of you for hanging with us.
all of that. And uh we made it. We're still here by the grace of God because it's like I said, it's all it's in person and online.
It's interesting. It's an interesting vibe. So, it's fun. Anyway, uh so we gonna have Bob now. I'm going to do uh what I used to How many of y'all used to come to in-person Bible study back in the day? All right, everybody. This is the in-person crowd. Okay, I got you. I got you. I don't know why I asked that question. Um remember when we used to do Inerson Bible study and I used to ask if anybody had any questions.
So, does anybody have any questions?
and you can just stand up and ask it if you want to put your hand up and ask and then I'll um I'll repeat the question so everybody will hear. So, anybody got any questions about anything? And I used to say I you can ask a question about anything and I'll answer it as best I can. So, any of you have you've you've you've had you had six years to get some questions together. So, uh, but, uh, yeah, pastor just said it's bittersweet. Yeah, it's bittersweet.
Let's, but let's put more emphasis on the sweet. All right. It's going to be sweet. All right. So, uh, but anyway, anybody have any questions?
Anybody? Anything? Any biblical questions? Anything you want to ask?
You want to ask me what's going on? Why are you crazy enough to be turning your church over? It's somebody like, "What?
What do you think?"
What's that all about? No, you guys are good. You guys are good. All right. All right. You sure?
That's true. I wouldn't do it unless God told me that's true. So, we are um grateful and thankful for uh what the Lord has done for us and also what he's going to do for us. I am extremely excited about uh the direction that this ministry is going in. I'm extremely excited. Uh I'm going to say this, I'm probably going to say it again before uh everything's done, but um Pastor Tammy and Pastor Gerald are really, really good pastors.
Really good pastors. Um and they know how to take care of God's people. They are relevant and current pastors and they're really good at doing that. Y'all better hear what I'm saying. They're good in areas that I can't be good in anymore. And it's not a sad thing. So, you got to know uh how many of y'all have ever run track a little bit? A little bit. How many of y'all know about running a relay race or you've seen relay races? I know you know you Yeah. So, you know something about relay races, right? In a relay race, you have to, and I I was pretty good at relays when I was really young, but each leg has its own things to deal with. If you're the starting leg, the first one, you got to get out to a good start, right? So, you got to just you go as fast as you can, as you know, long as you can for your period of time. Then if you second leg you gota you got to deal with a curve you know.
So everybody can't run the curve right and then on your when you're the third you run the backstretch right and then they when you're doing you know then when you're the fourth leg and I'm talking about the 100 meters the fourth one they get it and they got to bring it home. All right. Now, the key thing to running a relay is knowing how to pass the baton.
The baton is what the whole thing is.
You got to get that baton around that that that track and make sure you get it around that track before the other team does, but you also have to do it in your lane at the right time because they have a passing lane. So, when you're approaching the passing lane, you got the baton, you are in stride, arms are pumping, you're moving, and all of a sudden, the first the person that's getting ready to catch it, they have to start running a little bit because you can't you just can't catch the baton and then start running. You can't be standing still. And so, you catch the baton while you're starting to run. And you kind of kind of has to see where you are, but they got to be still moving in the right direction. Y'all hear what I'm saying? I'm preaching already. Y'all don't even know it. And they got run in the right direction. And all of a sudden, it's like, okay. And they put their hand out and the one that's running will say stick.
In other words, I got your hand coming back and my hand's coming down at the right time. So that way, boom. All you got to do is grab and take off. That's what's about to happen.
Pastor Tammy, Pastor Gerald, they saying stick and I'm I'm saying stick. Here it is.
And I need you to take off running. But see, the thing that the one that's passing the baton has to understand is I can't keep running with him.
Amen. I can't. What you do is you cheer on from the back.
Go, go, go, go. We winning this thing.
Yeah. you going off because you're like and that's where I feel I'm excited. Go y'all cuz I'm done y'all. I run my leg. And you have to understand that if it's going to go forward, it's got to be done the right way. And so saying all that to say, you guys, all of us are going to be in good hands. All right? So just hang tight. I know it's it is bittersweet.
It's been the key word, but we putting more of an emphasis on the sweet.
All right, look at somebody say stay sweet.
Write that in the comments. Stay sweet online. All right, so nobody has any questions. Everybody's good.
>> Mhm.
That's true.
>> That's true. Uhhuh. Right. Going to make sure. Yeah.
>> Right. Right.
Amen. Amen.
>> Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Bless you. Bless you. Bless you. Thank you, Pam. I appreciate that. Um, you know, and I just say, you know good and well, I wasn't bringing no jacks in here to preach. And you know, I wasn't going to bring nobody in here that was just going to be, as my mother would say, beating the air. Amen. So, um, we wanted to make sure and and, uh, uh, Pastor Tammy is is one of the things that impressed me is that she is, uh, biblically not only sound, but astute and very wise and and very practical. And uh Pastor Gerald's got his own little style, his own little personality that he is just he is Pastor Gerald, but we love and we love him too. But but you have to understand that from a biblical foundational standpoint, uh I can't think of other people in the country that would be better uh to come in here.
So not that I was the greatest preacher, but you know, I do what I can. But I know what it takes to bring the word of God on a consistent basis and that's what they do. So, thank you guys, you know. So, I appreciate that. But, Pam, that means a lot to me. Thank you. All right. Anybody else? Any other questions? I'm doing I'm We really are doing old school Bible study like, you know, let y'all ask questions first.
All right. So, anybody Everybody's good.
Mama's looking at me like, >> "Are you good?"
>> Okay, good. All right. All right.
Tonight, our subject is optimistic.
And I I saw somebody somebody today online was talking about um if you really want to move to the next place that God has for you, you have to make sure that the people in your circle, you have to get rid of those consistently negative people in your circle. I believe Bishop Sean Tyson said that today and and he was absolutely right because there are people that are perpetually negative and sometimes you have to be careful of two things. One that the people around you that have your ear are not perpetually negative.
Think about the people when you tell them something. Sometimes you can tell them even good news and they always have something negative to say. They got a negative spin on everything.
All right, I'll put it this way. Have you ever had a friend that you really couldn't tell good news to?
I say I use the term friend loosely, but a friend that you couldn't really share good news with.
Uh I saw something where Simon Synynic was talking about that how he said a lot of times we don't have friends that will really we could really share good news with you. You have few friends.
Y'all not catching this now. I know you're not sitting next to any of them. But what I'm saying is that there are some people that you just automatically well I'm not going to tell them that because you know they're going to give a negative reaction.
So you have to be sure that the people that have your ear uh are not just negative perpetually negative. The second thing you have to be aware of is making sure that you are not perpetually negative.
Amen. All these lights cuz sometimes we have talked ourselves out of good news.
We have convinced ourselves that oh no and you've missed out on things because you always bring a negative spin on something. Here's what the enemy does.
He tricks us into believing that oh yeah, you know there's nothing good ever happens for you. You know there's got to be a catch. How many of y'all caught yourself finding looking for a catch?
Oh, what's the catch? somebody giving you good news and you're like, "Well, I don't want to I don't want to get too happy because something gonna happen if you get because I'm telling I'm telling you, it's it's a trick of the enemy. Don't get too happy because something bad going to happen and it keeps us from rejoicing.
It keeps us from moving the way the Lord wants us to move." So, I got a few scriptures tonight and we're going to talk about them. So, you know, it is a Bible study. But now, you know, the way we run Bible study, if you have a question or comment while I'm teaching, you know, throw your hand in the air, wave it like you just don't care. Amen. Wave it like you don't care.
Not that you do, but you don't care. And I'll get to you. All right. Uh, let's go to Numbers chapter number 13.
And sometimes it takes courage to be optimistic.
Let me say that again. Sometimes it takes courage to be optimistic.
And optimistic does not mean that you are just one of those people that's just, you know, everything is wonderful.
Everything, you know, not not just, you know, weird. But when you're optimistic, you are positive. You are you're looking for things to turn out all right.
And so, yeah, you're expecting it to turn out all right. And we're going to talk about that in a moment. But you have to be able to understand that it's not this, you know, rosecolored glasses kind of thing, but it's having an understanding that these things are going to work out. And it's a level of faith, hope, and expectation that things will turn out all right. I just believe God.
Amen. Amen. Write that in the comments.
Say, "I just believe God. I just believe God." Write that for yourself. I just believe God. I'm not weird. I'm not crazy, but I just believe God.
And as a child of God, we should be positive people. Amen. So, watch this. Numbers chapter 13. and for setting is the children of Israel going over and and the Lord let them live in the promised land for a month. These were folks that came out of Egypt, seen the Lord move miraculously.
And everybody that's listening to me right now, you have seen God do some incredible things. I'm not talking about what he's done for other people. You've seen him do some amazing things in your life, >> right? You got a testimony >> or two or 10 or 100, right? Uh and so you understand that God is able to do anything.
>> Some of us sitting in standing in here right now are miracles.
It's a miracle. I I I watch some of these videos. I watch sometime they talk about the odds of us even being born are absolutely astronomical.
I mean the the absolute miracle that you are alive that and then that you grew up in the circumstance you grew up in and survived all that you survived and you're sitting clothed and close to no and in your right mind most of the time.
>> Right. I'm in my right mind most of the time.
And and so it's it's a miracle that that we survive all that we survived and that the Lord, you know, has been in our lives and and and the odds that your great great great great great great grandp I'm looking at my mother born in the 1930s.
And then I'm looking at myself born in the 1960s and we're still here coming up in those times.
And so then when you see stuff going on, you're not easily moved cuz we've been through some stuff.
I'm looking at those of you that are younger. I don't know. Let's see. Gen Z's and Gen whatever. What? What?
Gen X, Gen Z. Yeah. Gen Gen X. No, first Gen X, then Z and millennials and all the and then they got something else new now. I don't even know. But the things that you've been able to see and sometimes sister Carla will say to me, you know, because we've been married almost couple of weeks ago, 41 years, right? So, in those 41 years, we've seen some stuff. We've experienced some stuff, you know, international, you know, tragedies and, you know, things happening here and, you know, just there's a lot, but God keeps us through all of it. And so, we ought to be optimistic.
>> Yeah. You know, you ever met some old person that's just kind of like, h, they don't seem like anything really moves them.
That's because they seen some stuff.
It's because they've been through some stuff.
And as long as you all have been saved, been in the church, you've seen some stuff.
You've had moments, all of us have had moments where our heart was just, I don't know, what am I going to do?
You ever had a moment where you ran out of money?
What I'm what I mean is not that you didn't have any on your on your person, but you I remember distinctly uh in like 85 86 somewhere there. I remember distinctly just cash a check or just put a check in the bank.
Remember when you used to put them in the big tube and send them in there? Y Where is it going? Anyway, but and I remember that we had just, you know, got paid but did not have any money because it's one thing when you like, okay, I ran out of cash but I get paid tomorrow so I'll make it. but you just got paid.
And there's a level of panic that sets in when you're like, "Wait a minute. When am I going to get what am I going I don't have no money?
And I don't have no money coming."
And then the Holy Ghost says, "Go buy mom and dad's house."
And you go by mom and dad's and it's timed around dinner time.
Oh, y'all y'all want something to eat?
Yeah. Yeah. We like a little something.
And you know I made that roast on Sunday. Oh, did you? Now and so we going to have food for the next few days and we going to make it. What am I saying?
But you've had those moments where you're like, I don't know what I'm going to do with this situation.
You get a call from the doctor. You get a call. You know, you I don't know what to do.
And the Lord gives you what you need and you're still here. Other people experienced that thing and they lost their mind.
Some folks, oh, I had a bad relationship and they lost it. Some folks have not recovered to this day.
But here you are. So, we ought to be optimistic. So watch this. The children of Israel had come out miraculously from Egypt and the and they the Lord allowed them to send spies over into the promised land.
Which lets you know something. The promised land wasn't far away.
It was really a few days journey from the Red Sea.
Let me say that again over here. The promised land was right there.
It was right there. Let me see if it does it again.
Okay, there we go. See, a little delay, but it's all good. So, the promised land was right there. It was a few days journey and they were able to just go over there.
Lord said, "Okay, yeah, you can go ahead and send some folks out of every trot."
So they go over into the promised land and the Lord says you can live there.
Let them live there for a month and 10 days.
Could you imagine? I want you to get your dream house in your mind.
Your dream vacation destination.
All right. Where would you want to live?
Somebody just throw their hand up. Where would you want to live or where we want to go? Somebody. Huh?
On an island somewhere. So, you got palm trees and sand and water. Uh-huh. Who else wants Where y'all where y'all want to live? Where you want to go? Where you want to vacation? Where you want to go?
Nobody. Everybody just like, "No, I just want to stay right here in the San Franando Valley. I want to stay in Pquima. I want to be in Pomaa. I'm thinking as a vacation destination."
But, you know, and I mean, I I love Rome.
I love Rome, Italy. I just anytime I think vacation, I'm like, you know, I can go back to Rome again. Some places I be like, but other what? Rome. Yeah. And then it's like, he says, okay, go over there and see what you like.
All you got to do is just go and stay.
We trip out because sometimes they give, you remember the little vacation, them uh time shares they be trying to hook you up with. You go in there. I fell for that years ago. But anyway, you go in there and you get to stay for a couple of days. Check it out. Now, what we'd like to do for you, Mr. Hamilton, is we'd like to be able to put you in a trick bag is really what they trying to do is put you in a trick bag.
So, see, that's old term, trick bag.
We'll put you in a trick bag. But anyway, and so they were over there for a month and 10 days, 40 days and 40 nights, living in the promised land, living in the promised. And the promised land was promised to them by by God.
And God says, "You can stay here for a while and check it out."
And they went and checked out the promised land, right?
So they got a chance to live there.
Nobody messed with them.
They just got to enjoy the land.
And now come back and tell us what you think. Could you imagine that beach vacation?
And they say, "Sister Angelique, what did you think about that month in Greece?" That's right. That was the place I was thinking about.
Mikos, the most beautiful water I've ever seen in my life. It was clear.
you're on in Migos, Greece.
Tell me what you think.
And of course, they brought back this report in Numbers chapter number 13.
And what they the first thing they did in verse 25 or so, but I'm not I'm not going to deal with all that, but I just want to let you know what they said.
They came back and said um they told him and said, you know, we came to the land of verse 27 says whether thou sentest us and then surely it flows with milk and honey. And this was the fruit of it. They also got a chance to bring back some fruit to show off. I'm in Numbers 13 and 27, I believe.
And they said, "Here's the fruit from the land.
It does indeed flow with milk and honey." What that means is that it's a very fruitful, bountiful land. It's good uh in terms of crops and it's good, you know, it's a very healthy land. It's not dry. It's not, you know, it's not like a desert. This is like a land that you be good for farming.
So, he had these indeed flow with milk and honey. It's good. Here's the fruit.
That's all they said positively about the land.
Watch what they say next. Nevertheless, you got to be careful about folks that always have a nevertheless or a but.
But the people are strong.
The dwelling cities are walled.
We saw the children of Anoch there. The Malachites dwelling. Look at how quick how detailed they are about the negative stuff.
They're deta have watch people that have great details about negative stuff.
Watch people that can tell you everything that went wrong but can never tell you what went well.
Watch people that have a problem for every situation.
Oh, I don't like going there. See somebody that could have had a trip to Mkos, Greece, and be out on the beach. I don't know. It's like too far.
I don't want to get all that sand in my toe.
Ah, sun is just too bright.
Can you turn the sun down a little bit?
There are people, watch this, that you take that you go places with.
And every one of you now can think of at least one friend that is a buzz kill.
Now, if you're sitting next to him, don't look at him. Just look at me.
But everybody's got that in the group.
How long were you gonna be out tonight?
Why don't you just stay home? But then if you don't invite them, they're going to be mad.
Then you got the friend that when they get invited, you turn to your friends, who invited her?
Who told him that we were?
See, this is all your fault. You keep bringing them on board. I told you next time. Don't say nothing.
Just let them know after we've been there. Oh. Oh, nobody. Oh, he didn't call you. No, it was on it was intentional. Watch this. They talked about the Malachites, but look at verse number 30. I just want to grab this verse. Verse number 30.
And it says, and you can read it with me. It says, "And Caleb still the people before Moses and said, let us go up at once and possess it. We are well able to overcome it."
Wait a minute.
10, I believe, spies went and Caleb said, "We can go up tonight.
What God has for us, we can have it tonight."
What if the thing that God promised you could be yours tonight?
What if that dream that you had a long time ago, Lord said, "Go ahead and go ahead and live in it, operate in it, and let me know what you think."
And you come back, everybody experienced the same stuff, but the negative folks said, "We can't have it."
But you said, "You know what?
Let's roll out tonight.
We can have what the Lord says we can have tonight. Let's go up at once.
We're well able.
We have what it takes.
You can have the zillion dollar home tonight.
You stayed in it. You tried all the stuff.
and it's wonderful, but the negative people said, "We can't do it."
Look at somebody say, "I'm like Caleb."
Write that in the comments online. I'm I'm like Caleb.
We have to as God's people be of the mindset that what God has for me, I can have it right now.
>> Amen. I can have it right now.
When God says, he says, I can. We can do this right now.
Amen.
And we have to understand that there are things that people will talk you out of.
Ah, I don't see that for you. What? He wasn't showing you.
That's why you can't tell everybody everything.
That's what I said earlier. Sometimes there's some friends you just can't, you know. No, no. They g they going to say they gonna have something to say.
and it's going to be negative. There are people that we have around us and I don't know why we do but we have people around us that have never celebrated with us.
Think about it.
They never celebrate with you, but they expect you to celebrate with them.
And you do because you love the Lord and you love this person for and sometimes we we pull people in our circle. Caleb, the first thing he did was calm the people down. Sh. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, let's go up tonight and get it.
We're well able. But the people, watch this, the negative people prevailed.
So then they said, "No, we're not able to do it."
And then they went on to describe themselves and said, "You know what?
We're like grasshoppers in their sight.
So the people are too great for us.
They're going to kill our children.
They're going to they're going to destroy us. And this is these are people that experience the blessing, the promise of God, and they said, "Nope, we can't do it.
These people are too great for us. We're like grasshoppers compared to them."
The real problem isn't the enemy. It's the fact that you think of yourself as a grasshopper.
That's why I said you got to be careful that you're not your own pessimistic pessimistic person, that you're not the negative person in your life.
Because sometimes we have a mistaken idea about who we are.
We have a misconception. Our perception about who we are is off.
And sometimes that's because of what people told you. It's because of what somebody said years ago. Because notice how we hold on to negative stuff forever.
I'm going try it over here. We can we can have one person say something crazy when we were in seventh grade and here we are 51 years later and we still hold that.
Out of all the positive things that have been said about you all these years, you still hold that. Well, well, she said eyes, but you do know she's crazy, right?
You do know she was mentally challenged back in the day. We didn't call it that back then, but we but we took that.
We took it and held it because that was a trick of the enemy.
My father didn't let us talk about one another. My mother too, but my father used to He made the statement. He said, "Don't don't don't say that about your brother because he'll get a complex."
He said, "You even though we were talking about how big somebody's head was and our heads were big, you know, but but the fact of the matter is we he didn't want us to start thinking about that and dwelling on that. There's some things that have been said in your life that the Lord says you don't need to be thinking about that or dwelling on it.
Don't internalize, but we internalize everything negative and we hold it. It's amazing how quickly we hold on how long we hold on to negative stuff and how quickly we release positive stuff.
Somebody could tell you, "Oh, you're you're just beautiful."
And we we'll deflect it. Oh, no. Some of y'all in here right now, I ain't deflecting nothing.
But, but sometimes folks will deflect that.
Then you let something drop on your shirt, a little smudge. And this is a trip how a little thing it becomes magn in your mind. It's mag. Oh my god.
Everybody can see it. You think that when you walk in the room, all they see is this big old splotch. And you're like, "It's not that big of a deal." One negative word and you hold that. You internalize that.
They held it. Watch this. And it was going to cost them. Thank you, Holy Ghost. When you hold negative stuff and you repeat negative stuff and you think negatively, it will cost you time.
It eventually cost that generation their lives.
They never got back to the promised land.
Y'all hear what I'm saying? They never got back.
They got to experience it, mother, and never got a chance to go back. And the kids they thought were going to be destroyed by the enemy. The kids made it.
The next generation made it.
Watch this.
They got so upset with the positive report.
And they began to say, you know what?
They started crying and weeping. They murmured against Moses and Aaron. And they said, would we should have stayed and died in the land of Egypt. In chapter 14 now, would to God we had died in this wilderness. They were like, "We should have stayed in Egypt and maybe we could have died in the wilderness." And you would.
They were going to die just like they said in the wilderness.
But watch this.
Why did the Lord bring us up into this land to fall by the sword? That our wives and our children shall be prey.
Were it not better for us to return to Egypt?
Then they said, "Let's make a captain."
They had a meeting. Let's elect a captain that's going to take us back to Egypt.
Beware of people that want to take you back to where you used to be.
They want to take, "Oh, yeah. I liked you better when you were."
Yeah, I bet you did.
But that's not me anymore.
One of the major challenges that um Sister Carl and I had after I became a preacher and then especially after I became a pastor five years later, six years later, was if she was looking for good old Steve, the post office guy, you know, He wasn't going to be around long because pastoring was going to change everything because relationships are about adjustments.
When Angela came along in 1991, that changed everything. I started pastoring in 1991, that changed everything. So, who I was before was going to be changing. So, you have to adjust.
I had to adjust.
Everybody was going through these adjustments and adjustments are painful and difficult. So, they're like, "Yeah, well, we should just go back to Egypt.
That wasn't going to work."
But see, the enemy can have you overwhelmed. Watch this.
Verse number six says, "And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jeffan, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes." They tore their clothes like in grief. Like, oh, come on. And they spoke unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, "The land which we pass through to search is an exceeding good land."
They were trying to be positive. Have you ever tried to be positive when everybody else was just determined to be negative?
But the land is good.
It's really a good land.
It's really okay.
Come on, y'all. They were trying their best to convince them.
And they spake unto all the and they said, excuse me, and said, "If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land and give it us a land which flowth with milk and honey." They said, "All we got to have is God on our side.
All we need is favor."
How many of y'all know that's true? Lay your hand on somebody. Say, "All you need is favor.
put that in the comments online. All you need is favor cuz it doesn't matter what the circumstances are. It doesn't matter who's involved. If you got God's favor, >> it can be done. It will be done. They said, "Don't rebel against God. You You guys are now on dangerous territory." He tried to warn him, "Neither fear the people of the land, for they are bred for us. Their defense is departed from them, and the Lord, watch this, is with us.
Fear them not.
Don't be afraid of what's ahead of you."
He said, "Those people are That's not a problem.
We got the Lord on our side.
But see, too much negativity will forget, make you forget who God is in your life.
Watch this.
The people were so crazy they started deciding we ought to stone these people.
Negative people will have you ready to hurt somebody that's trying to help you.
Negative people, pessimistic people will have you doubting, I don't know. I I thought they were cool, but no, they kind of crazy.
We ought to stone them to death. They're trying to kill Joshua and Caleb because they brought a positive report.
Amen. Anybody questions? Anybody? Y'all good? Anybody's all right? Amen. All right, watch this. Let's go.
Let's go to 1 Samuel.
1 Samuel. Look at y'all got turning in your Bibles and carrying on. Look at like like it was like back in the day.
1 Samuel chapter number 14.
And this is just a quick word but a powerful one.
1 Samuel 14 Samuel 14.
And the people that are in this, I guess to give you some context, uh Jonathan, Saul's son, and of course the people of God are in a battle with the Philistines.
So Jonathan and his armor bearer have kind of loi slipped away from the rest of the troops and are um looking over at the Philistines, right?
And as they're looking at the Philistines, the the Philistine army, watch this.
And Jonathan said to the young man, verse number six, Jonathan said to the young man that bears his armor, "Come and let us go over into the garrison of these uncircumcised.
It may be that the Lord will work for us. For there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few. He said, "Let's go on over there and see what's up." The two of them, he said, "Let's go over and because the Lord is not hindered with numbers. He doesn't care about numbers.
He can save by a whole lot of folk or by a few.
There's no restraint to God.
Sometimes you got to make it up in your mind that that I God can God is able.
He's telling his armor bearer, "Let's go on over here to these folk because God can do anything, whether by a whole lot of folk or by a few folk.
There's no restraint."
And I want to drop that word in your spirit. There's no restraint to God.
Anything is possible with God.
in your life. Sometimes we believe anything's possible for other people.
Anything's possible cuz you know cuz you know for pastor.
No, anything's possible for you.
Well, anything's possible for Mother Hamilton because Mother Hamilton be praying all the time.
No, anything's possible for you.
You have to get it in your mind because see that will help to change you from being pessimistic to being optimistic because how you think is what changes it and what also what changes how you think is who you listen to.
I'm telling you this, you know, this summer, right? You got to identify some people that you go move uh their seat in your arena.
Some people are sitting on the front row that need to be way in the back or in another building altogether.
Amen. Y'all, some people ain't got no business.
What are you doing backstage?
Ushher them out.
And you say, "Pastor, do I have to I don't I don't want I don't like confrontation." You ain't got to say nothing.
Just stop responding.
Cuz what they're going to do is every time they get a chance, they going they're going to send you something.
Every time they get a chance, they're gonna call you.
And you want to know if if they're one of these kind of people when they call, what does your faith do?
Y'all ain't hear me. When you when you see certain names come up on the on your phone, how does your faith? Because when it's somebody you like, you're like, "Oh, hey, you you fumble trying to get to the phone. You you almost hurt yourself. You almost break your wrist trying to answer. Oh, wait a minute. I Oh, I accidentally hung up on him because I was so excited.
Then there's other people you like.
Anytime, well, let me say this. Anytime your face goes into contortions and you do like this and you hold the phone back, even though you see everything and if you see how big the stuff is on my phone, it's like, but when you see it, you're like, You're like, "Oh." And if you go to closing your eyes, then watch this.
And yet it going to keep ringing. Yeah.
Oh, it's going to keep ringing. Yes.
Absolutely. And you wait. Watch this.
You wait till it goes on and and and stops because you're like, "Okay, go on.
Go on the voicemail now. Go on."
And then you see they leave a message and usually the snaky ones will leave a message.
Call me when you get a chance. No, I don't want to call you. I need to know why you're calling me.
Call me back when you get a chance.
That means now they want to get me on the spot.
Y'all y'all listen. Y'all real quiet.
I'm wondering, are you the one that that you know?
I'm like, leave a detailed message. Say something. What do you want?
When you get a chance, call me. No, Lord. They try to he trying to I ain't calling either. I'm like, listen. And see, you got to get to the point where you But see, if your face goes through those contortions or when you know you got to talk to somebody, you like got got to get mentally prepared for a phone call or a meeting.
That person needs to be ushered on out of the front row of your life.
And and and it's okay. You're not gonna lose heaven because you got somebody that the enemy is using to upset you.
It's quiet in here. Sometimes the the enemy will use people to get you off track, to get you to lose focus. And so you have to be able to weed them out.
>> Put them in a different category.
Put them way back there. Or like I said, put them in another building.
let them go somewhere else. I had friends over my life that you had to rearrange because usually people that we hang with have an influence on us.
Um, what I used to tell folks that were dating, you know, trying to, you know, trying to, oh, I got somebody. Okay.
Now, do you feel more spiritual or less spiritual when you're around them? Are they bringing you closer to the Lord or are they taking you further away?
And when that happens, that's a good barometer like maybe this person is not for me.
Maybe this person is not a good person to have in my life. And you're saying, "Well, pastor, we both we both go to church. I understand sometimes we but everybody ain't at the same level."
And sometimes you got to realize that that there are people that have a negative influence on you. All of a sudden now you hanging out late at night. You know good and well you got to go to work in the morning.
And here you are ripping and running.
Ripping.
Ripping and running. You know that's a black term.
All that ripping and running.
Coming in here with all that ripping and running. I was like, "What is ripping?
What are we ripping?" And then the other one is hooting and hollering.
You know, you out hooting and hollering on the weekday, the week night. You know, you out next thing you know, now you know, you knew you had a problem with alcohol and you got you a drinking buddy all of a sudden and now here you go falling back into stuff >> that you've been delivered from. It's quiet in this house. But anyway, you got to understand that there are things that people there's an influence that they have on you and you got to monitor that.
And I've had friends where I like, you know, I can't I'm not hanging with these guys.
You know, me and Bishop House, you know, pastors and we got friends and we hanging out and then all a sudden there's another element start coming in and me and Clinton would look at each other saying, "Okay, okay, you know, we were cool when there's a few of us.
Now this this ripping and running crowd, I got to let them go. Got to let them go." Oh Lord, look at what time it is.
Lord Jesus. Anyway, but he's telling him there's no restraint to God. And the armor bearer said to him, "Do all that is in thine heart.
Turn thee. Behold, I'm with you." When you have the right person rolling with you, they'll trust the God in you.
>> He says, "Do everything that's in your heart, man. I'm with you.
>> I got your back." You got to have people that are in your life that will say, "You know what? This is what the Lord's sharing with me. Hey, go for that. Do that.
>> Do that.
Let's go. Let's move. Because they realize I trust God. Like you all were saying earlier. Well, Bishop ain't going to bring no crazy person in here.
>> And he ain't cuz I don't bring no jack legs in here cuz I got to go here, too.
I don't want to hear no bunk preaching.
Amen. Watch this real quick. Let's get a couple of more and we're done. Oh Lord, I see that's the problem with in-person Bible study. It goes longer because I'll be up here talking and let's run quickly to Philippians.
And I want to go to Philippians chapter 1. I alluded to it yesterday.
Well, I alluded to a lot of messages yesterday, but anyway, going to allude to a lot more on on Sunday. But watch this. Philippians chapter 1 and Paul was talking about where he was, you know, folks were being able to preach and be bold because he was locked up. And so those the negative folks were trying to, you know, add to his burdens. And then other people were preaching out of goodwill. They were doing it sincerely.
But he said um but he says something in verse number 19 because he says and this is a positive optimistic viewpoint. He said for I know that this will turn to my salvation.
He's going through it. But you when you're going an optimistic person, Brother Mother Hamilton, that in the face of all that's happening, you say, "But I know this is going to turn out all right.
>> I know that this is going to turn to my salvation from what?" Through your prayer and the supply of the Holy Ghost.
In other words, the spirit of the Lord is going to help me get through this.
>> You can't get that much more optimistic than that. He said, "This going to be all right." Lay your hand on somebody.
It's going to be all right. It's going to be all right. Amen. You got to be that positive person that can say, "You know what? Yeah, but it's all going to work out."
>> Like the other scripture that we always like to quote, Romans 8:28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God that are called according to his purpose. We love saying that to other people >> when they're going through. Well, you know, all things work together for good.
Then they love God. When was the last time you said that to yourself?
>> Amen. Paul was saying, "I know this gonna work out to my salvation because watch this." And this is why.
According to Now, how's it going to work out, Paul?
It's going to work out according to. And I've taught you over the years what the difference was out of and according to.
If I'm blessing you out of the money that I have, that could be as little as a quarter and I will have fulfilled my obligation to bless you out of my my my finances.
But if I'm blessing you according to that means whatever I got you got.
>> So that means both of us are broke.
I see.
See, see y'all was like, "Oh, all right now." Yeah, all right now. But my bills are your bills now. No, but watch this. He says, "According to verse 20, my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life or by death." He says, "My earnest expectation and my hope is that God's going to get the glory out of this." He said, "God's going to be glorified in my situation."
Hallelujah. But he has an earnest expectation and a hope.
Optimistic people have an earnest expectation and a hope.
Earnest expectation. I told you it's like you're you'reing your neck forward.
I'm looking for something. Where is it?
Where is that blessing? Where is that breakthrough? I'm I'm It's It can come any day.
>> It can happen at any time.
>> Amen. Real quick. Oh, Lord. I ain't got time. Let's go. Yeah, I do. This is my last one, so I can do whatever I want.
Just thought about anyway. Watch this.
Give me a few minutes. Let's go to Philippians chapter 4.
And in this chapter where he's talking about finally by the you know rejoice in the Lord and we talked about that a few weeks ago in one of the Bible studies but he said but when he dropped down I'm in chapter 4 and I want to start reading at verse number eight because he talks about right above that he says the peace of God which passes all understanding will guard your heart and But look what he says. But here here's what you have to do. So not God's going to give you peace that passes understanding, but you've got to do something with your mind, >> right? You've got to work on this. Look at what he says.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
Look at somebody say, get your mind right.
think on these things. In other words, set your mind on the right stuff.
And that's more difficult than ever nowadays because there's so much negative, so much junk, so much foolishness coming our way all the time. And the problem is we're consuming it.
>> Yes, Mother Hel.
Right.
>> Mhm.
>> Right.
>> Right.
just >> Yep.
>> That's that's what he said.
>> I'm guard. He said the peace of God is going to guard your heart and your mind through Christ Jesus. So you're not going to lose your mind.
>> Amen.
Carla quoted it to me the other day. He said, "Don't lose your mind because you're going to need your mind when this trial is over." Amen. So you can't lose your mind in the process. And God's going to keep your mind. Hallelujah. But you got to make sure that while he's keeping it, now I don't me. It's like going to the doctor. And the doctor gets you back on the right track. Oh, Mr. Hamilton, your numbers look good. Blah, blah, blah. I got a good report the other week. And then all of a sudden, it's like, now that that Oh, good. I got a good report. That means I can go out and really eat all kind of junk. I can increase my snack intake.
And it's like, no, that means keep doing what you're doing.
Stay on track. And see, that's what we have to talk to our mind sometime, Mother Hamilton. Sometimes lay hands on your heads. In the name of Jesus, I speak peace over my mind.
Learn how to take a beat. He says, and then set your mind on other stuff.
I used to watch um news programs like MSNBC and all that stuff religiously every day and watch this one, that one.
And then years ago, I was like, "This stuff is just negative."
And I don't even watch it anymore. I haven't watched it for years now.
And I haven't missed any, >> right? Oh, but you got to know. Why do I have to know what's going on right away?
>> I know. Think about it. Cuz we all I got to be I got to know, right? No, you don't.
Most of the stuff you can't do nothing about it anyway until the election.
Y'all better hear me. And the election is coming up.
Don't be foolish.
>> I'm looking at either each and every one of y'all.
>> Vote and don't be foolish and call your people down south.
>> See, that's why we in this foolishness now.
>> Oh, I don't know which one. Come on. We knew the guy was a fool >> after the last time.
>> And by the grace of God, we got delivered. And all of a sudden, it's like it's like that that video of this somebody these guys these workers are getting this this sheep and jumped into a little crevice in the land in the in the in the field and they working and working. They pull him out and they're like, "Oh, we got him freed." He takes off running and jumps right back in it. It's like, you know what? We'll leave you stuck.
Sometimes you got to realize that my mind is is is is under my control. If the Lord has given me peace, then I can't let anything disturb my peace.
>> I can't let folks disturb my peace. Real quick, watch this.
Paul is saying in verse number uh 11 says, "But I speak not respect inspector one he says I've learned in whatsoever state I'm in therewith to be content when you how many of y'all know you've been through some stuff so you know how to hang look at someone say I know how to hang you know how to hang when you got some stuff going on you know how to hang when you don't right and so Paul says I've learned in whatever situation I'm in to be content watch this I've learned I know both how to be abased or humble and I know how to abound. I know how to be on top. I know how to be the underdog.
Everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry. Both to abound and to suffer need. Verse 13 is where I'mma leave it.
I can do >> all things through Christ which strengthenth me.
That is one of the most optimistic statements in all the Bible. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Write that for yourself.
I can do all things. And if you want to shorten it, just say, "I can.
I can." Amen. I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Give God praise. We went over a little bit, but you know, you know, gave you a little overtime because I was feeling okay.
Amen.
All right, let's have a word of prayer.
And let me say this before we we we pray.
I'm still going to be teaching and stuff, you know, so don't don't think that, you know, I'm just disappearing.
I'm going to be around. So y'all just have to find me on my new stuff. But it's coming.
I can't wait for y'all to see the new stuff.
It's going to be really exciting.
So yeah, y'all you know, very cool.
And then there's all these videos and stuff, so I'm I'll be more visible all the time. So, as you're standing, let's go.
This wasn't bad. I was a little rusty after six years, but I'm good. I was able to hang in here. But, Amen. I hope you all were blessed.
Hope you all took a little few notes, some stuff. Amen. Amen. Grab hands in the name of Jesus. Grab hands. Father, we thank you for this session tonight. We thank you for what you have downloaded in us over the years and what you have given us to give to your people. We thank you for them being receptive and being open and being ready uh for your word. We thank you for those that are watching online that could not be in the building tonight. But Lord, we thank you for just being that kind of friend, that kind of God that gives us what we need when we need it. Now Lord, we ask you to bless your people.
That your hand rest on us. Help us to be optimistic because we can do all things through you that gives us strength.
We're well able to overcome it. Lord, delight in us. Hallelujah. In the name of Jesus and raise our expectation and our hope to a level that we can say there's no restraint to God to save by many or by few. You can do whatever you want to do in our lives. Help us to make sure that people are in the right place to give them the right access and priority in our lives. Lord, surround us with people that are cheering for us.
Hallelujah. Surround us with people that are praying for us. Surround us with people that will weep with us, but also will rejoice with us in the name of Jesus. Let your your grace and your mercy rest on your people in the name of Jesus. And we thank you for what you have done. And we thank you for what you're going to do in Jesus' name. Amen.
Amen. Give God a praise all over the building.
God bless you. God bless you. God bless you. And um I thank God for uh this session. And I think we got a couple more announcements. Now, let me announce this too. I got a a text uh from uh from Pastor Tracy Willis, and she was saying that some of the folk uh how many of y'all were able to get your videos in?
Oh, wait a minute, y'all.
Am I gonna have to cut some people?
Let me see those hands again that did not that. No, that did get their video in. That get that got their cuz see it's clear that >> Yeah, y'all didn't get the videos in.
Y'all ain't got no love for Bishop Hamilton.
I'm like, Snoop. Y'all ain't got no love for Death Row.
Y'all ain't got no love for I ain't You ain't got to write a speech or nothing.
Y'all just give a brother a little love.
Oh, Bishop, we thank you for blah blah blah blah. We We think you're the greatest preacher in the history of preachers. I'm trying to help you give you some material. you you know you're you know but anyway you still can get some stuff in. Uh the deadline was Saturday but we want to get some more folk in there. So if you if you didn't get a chance to get in, you think, "Oh, it's so No, no, no. They still taking some in." So, you know, yeah, if y'all want to say something nice, go ahead. I know y'all gonna be there on that Sunday, but I'm just saying, you know, you want to throw something at out there, you know, go ahead. You know, you get a chance to say something good.
Did I ever do that Bible study series?
Did I do Tell Me Something Good. I think I did. Yeah. Okay. Yeah, that's right. I did. Okay. All right. So, you still get some videos in and you turn them into 3540.
35 years of pastoring, 40 years of preaching at spiritandlife ministries.org.
All right.
and you can get those in. I want to pass that information on to you, not only for those folks here, but folks online. If you want, you got to get a he, oh, missed the deadline. You can get them in. I had um had a friend of mine uh bishop's wife and reached out and said they they cuz they got confused last week because I was doing birthday stuff.
So then they got they th got thrown off.
They start thinking I turn 60 again. And so then they did a video on that, but they realized that it was 3540. So now they got to redo it. And they want to know if they can still get it in. I said, "Yes, you can. Go ahead.
Go ahead and get it in." So if you're if you feel led, you can get the video in. All right?
And if not, You can always say something nice. We're going to have, you know, on that night, I think they're going to be video videographers and stuff. So, you can go up to the camera and say, "He's the greatest preacher ever."
Ever.
I'm just trying to give you some material to throw in, some ideas, something to spark you. All right. Um, and see there's the information right there. Uh, all right. Um, what else do we need else? Thursday, I'm going to be doing leaders lounge, I believe. So, Tara's like, "I'm moving as fast as I can, Bishop. Don't be don't be trying to work me." She She kind of She kind of flipped around head around like, "Okay, now.
I'm just trying."
Yeah, there you go. So, she's going from one place to the next. All right. I'm not going to ask for any more, but uh I'm not going to move any more slides.
Uh but Saturday is going to be our self-care sessions as well uh at 800 a.m.
and 10:00 a.m. Take your time. I'm just going to talk. Don't worry. Is looking at me like, "Okay, so Thursday at 6:30, then Saturday 8:00 a.m. for the women, 10 a.m. for the men.
self-care sessions this Saturday and I believe that's it. Sunday.
Amen. That's right. 10:15.
Oh, that's right. Are we There you go.
Yeah. Sunday 10:00 a.m. Yeah. Um but 10:15 on Sunday, but it's going to be back to 10:00 a.m. uh when when it goes into breathe. But uh so uh but anyway, so Sunday is going to be uh we going we going we going to finish strong. All right. We gonna finish strong. So tell your tell your people. Oh, if you p oh if you was planning on hearing Pastor Hamilton in person live Sunday you better be here.
All right. Sunday you got to be here. So we going we going to do the last one.
All right. Uh but anyway, but God is good. All right. Are we good?
All right. All right. It's offering time.
As you're standing, we're going to go ahead and do that. That was pretty cool.
And great idea, Barbara.
It was Barbara's idea.
So, give Barbara some love. That was her idea. So, you should do the last one in person. I'm like, what?
That was a great idea.
So, I give you a shout out in person.
Grab somebody's hand once again.
And uh we're thankful. Thank you guys for coming out. I was really afraid I was going to be down here with just me and I knew mom was coming and I knew Barbara was going to be here and Tara, but I was like, y'all ain't going to let me hang in here by myself. But you didn't. So, thank you, Father. Father, we thank you.
We bless you. We honor you for this day.
We thank you for these people, Lord. We We thank you for the sacrifice they made to come in person and to tune in. And Lord, we bless you for uh what you've done for us and what you've done through us. We thank you for the lessons. We thank you for uh the growth, the instruction. We thank you for everything. And we celebrate as we move forward. We celebrate who's coming next and what you're going to do.
We are thankful. We are our earnest expectation and our hope is that everything is going to work out in the name of Jesus. And we thank you for it.
Bless everybody. Bless those that couldn't be here because they had physical ailments and things that could kept them from coming. Send strength and healing. Bless your people. Keep us safe. Keep us healthy and keep us expecting great things in Jesus' name.
Lord, help us to be optimistic in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. God bless you. Hug somebody. Say, I'm excited about your future.
