[00:00:53]This is Jackson, Invitemedia. We're here at Randall High School here with Coach Randall. Coach, spring football's back.

[00:00:59]Y'all been in the group. Things have to play. Just what's it been like getting back out here, getting back in the pads here?

[00:01:03]>> Yeah, it's always a good time. It's always a good time. The kids expected Honestly [music] didn't didn't want to do spring ball this year, but the co- co- coaches got elevated, which is a great thing. I'm very proud of those guys, and I mean, you're talking the last what, 4 years? We've got four head coaches off our [music] staff. So, every year somebody elevates, and that's a great feeling, but it leaves us short-staffed. So, it is what it is. We've just got to make it work. Just talking about this team coming The guys this year have come back. Who are some guys that you're really looking at this spring to really take that next step going into the finish? Well, obviously, you know, we got Landon. I mean, Landon is he's he's the guy. It's his team [music] now, but we got some old linemen that that are really really going to step up, and we got to have it. They they have to play this year if we're going to compete with teams like Sachse. You know, we got a couple question marks with D-linemen, some guys that are hurt. Um track Got a lot of kids running track, so they're not actually going to be able to uh >> [music] >> participate in spring ball, so that hurts a little bit, but once they're done with their workout, they still come out and get some mental reps, so nothing over there.

[00:02:03]Talking about Landon, you know, this is going into senior year.

[00:02:07]Um you look at the season he had last year, Gatorade Player of the Year, um White Player of the Year. He won a lot of accolades personally. Guys going into senior year, what do you think he's going to be able to do as a senior being on varsity for 4 years now?

[00:02:22]>> Whatever he wants, honestly. So, here's the thing, man, it's about design, so it's freshman year, 10 to 15 carries.

[00:02:28]You know, sophomore year, 15 to 20 carries. Junior year, 20 to 25 carries.

[00:02:33]Hey, let the kid have it now. So, he's I mean, he's plenty plenty plenty tread on the tires when you look at that kid. You know, he's he's special kid. You know, the Lord blessed him, and it couldn't happen to a better person. You know, that's what That's what makes me so happy. It makes my staff so happy cuz he's such a he's such a good kid. He's one of those people you root for. You know, he comes from a great family.

[00:03:58]Tough loss to Saugus. 2026 was the mentality of this team.

[00:04:02]Well, your only is good as your last game. You know, that's that's the thing.

[00:04:05]We used to play little video games when we were in college and that's 21-0, you're off the stick and your only is good as your last game. And our last game we lost, man, 15-1. So, we're coming into the season as losers. You know, that's how we kind of look at it and we have a chip on our shoulder and a lot of people are already counting us out saying that with us moving up, we don't have a chance to make it back to the show but I'll be damned but we're going to get to the show.

[00:04:29]Hello everyone, Matt Malatesta, Jackson DiPascuale, Alex Hinson. We are talking about Randall High School. The other stop that we just made on the football spring tour. It's been awesome. Randall advances to state last year. They win state the year before. Landon Williams Cowser is still returning. Coach Brian Randall has built a program there.

[00:04:49]Thoughts on this upcoming season. Landon obviously had the big junior season last year. He wins Texas Gatorade Player of the Year. One of the only juniors I can remember that's won the that award in the past couple years. He already looks like he's ready for his senior year.

[00:05:03]He's got a different mentality coming in this year after, you know, losing in that state championship game. He's a guy who doesn't like to lose at all and so I I expect him to kind of be the leader of that group and be a little bit more vocal this year but they do have a lot to replace as far as they lose Skyler Make the quarterback, Mason Mixon the tight end. They lose a couple offensive lineman. They lose a couple pieces on defense. They do return Kamar Chavez Brown at wide receiver. I think he's also going to be playing some defensive back. That'll be big for them but they're going to need some young pieces to step up this year in order for them to get back to where they were last year and they're going to be in a more competitive district. The district was really good last year. It gets even better now moving up to 5A D1 as they'll be playing Angleton, Iowa Colony, La Porte, Friendswood, just a better district across the board for them. Who could be a player that could emerge for them? Cuz they're going to need some other pieces to this puzzle. Yeah, I think the quarterback Brady, I off the top of my head can't remember the last name right this second, but he's going to need to step up here. You know, he's been on varsity the past 3 years. It's his turn now. He's going to have to have a big season and you know, having Lane in the backfield next to him is going to be helpful. I think the offensive line as well. They got a transfer in from Hightower that's going to be able to help them on the interior and they had a couple kids out that weren't out there for spring practice due to track. I think it's going to start up front on both sides, defense line and offense line. Missing guys during the spring ball, but those guys are going to need to step up to help relieve a new quarterback and offense that's trying to replace some weapons as well. And then defensively, same thing.

[00:06:37]Yeah. Defensively, You're missing They had a guy named Pac-Man last year, tremendous home setter for their defense. They're going to miss him, too. They did have a linebacker move in from Alief Taylor who had over 100 tackles this past season. Expect him to kind of get going maybe early next season. He's going to need to have a big season. He has to replace two guys in Ryan Mallory and Pac-Man. Ryan Mallory who was a state MVP 2 years ago. He's going to Sam Houston then you got Pac-Man who's at TCU already. You replace a lot. In today's day and age, if you got the right pieces coming back like a Lane and Williams Callis, I think you're going to be okay. Okay, that's fair enough, fair enough. All right, Coach Brian Randle will figure it out.

[00:07:16]I'm excited to see Williams Callis as it [music] relates to what he does on a national scene, how he leaves his legacy as a senior. That'll be great to watch.
