"Jurassic Park" star Sam Neill reveals he is now cancer free

[00:00:00]Some very positive news from Jurassic Park. Park star Sam Neil. After battling stage three blood cancer since 2022, a diagnosis he learned he had during a press tour for Jurassic World Dominion.

[00:00:12]This morning he tells the Australian News Network News 7. He's officially cancer free. Take a look.

[00:00:21]>> I was on chemotherapy and a pretty miserable business, but it was keeping me alive. I was at a loss and it looked like I was on the way out. Um, which wasn't ideal obviously.

[00:00:34]I've just had a scan just now and there is no cancer in my body. That's an extraordinary thing.

[00:00:39]>> Extraordinary indeed. Neil says he underwent a trial treatment called CARTT cell therapy where a person's genetically modified blood cells are injected back into them to attack the cancer cells. It's a treatment that's approved for some types of lymphoma and myela. And Neil is advocating for wider use of the cancer fighting trial in his native Australia. Guys, this treatment is still in trial stages, but CARTT cell therapy has shown a 50% complete response rate in trials. Sam says he feels great. He's now ready to get back to work making movies.
