Door struts are mechanical supports that keep vehicle doors open by providing hydraulic assistance, preventing doors from closing unexpectedly during use. The installation process involves removing the seatbelt bracket, installing a mounting plate with a bolt that has a pin for the strut connection, positioning the bracket at the desired door opening angle, drilling mounting holes, and securing the strut to both the plate and door. The installation allows for adjustment of door opening range by repositioning the bracket, and provides approximately 3/4 inch of play for fine-tuning tension on the support cable.

CF MOTO U10 PRO HIGHLAND Gets a Major Comfort UpgradeAdded:
Hey everybody.
Hope you're all doing good today.
So you're probably wondering why I'm sitting here on the couch.
And I was just sitting here thinking on how disappointed I am in myself for not bringing y'all along on a new install.
And in my defense, it's because I'm excited. I wanted to get it put on or get them put on.
Try them out, see how well I liked them.
If you're wanting to know what that is, stick around and I'll show you.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] >> All right, guys.
So you're probably wondering what in the world I have going on. Please excuse the mess.
So as y'all probably could see, there's two bolts in my window channel.
And you're probably wondering what they're for.
So without further ado, I I have door struts on here now.
That's this plate here and it's mounted across and it bolts in over there.
I have this installed on both sides because as y'all know, opening and closing these doors, once you open it, depending on how you're parked, you're doing something inside, the door just closes right back on you.
It drove me nuts during hunting season.
That was probably one of my biggest complaints about this whole entire rig was how the door just would close back on itself.
It was annoying to me.
But anyways, I'm going to get y'all set up and I'm going to go through the steps for installing this plate, the strut, and the plate on the inside.
It's very simple, guys.
Just you're going to need a few tools.
I'll explain what you need.
So give me a second, get y'all set up, and we'll get to work.
All right, guys. So what we're looking at here is the passenger side seatbelt bracket. Now this is for the two-door model. I don't know if it's the same the same location of the four-door or not.
I can find out for y'all. I can leave it in the comments, but I'm pretty sure it's probably mounted more over here than it is here.
But anyways, I'm going to explain to y'all how to do this. You're going to need a half-inch wrench, 9/16-in wrench, and a 5/16 drill bit. The drill bit is going to be for the bolt holes in the door. You will not need this for this plate.
So I've already popped it off, but this little cover here, you'll have to remove.
It's actually pretty easy. If you reach right behind it, lift that little tab up, pops right off.
So I'm not going to take it off because I have the strut already attached. And if I take the plate off, it's all going to fly that way. I don't want that to happen.
So basically, you're going to use your 9/16, take this bolt off your seatbelt.
You're going to lay this to the side.
There is, I don't know, there is another bolt back here that mounts in a bolt hole just behind this plate.
And all it does is keep it from twisting side to side.
This bolt is going to go this slot. There's a slot here, so it can rise up and down.
But you'll stick your finger behind here with the nut, put it on, tighten that down.
You need to install this before you put the gas strut on.
I'm going to explain why mine looks a little different.
It's probably karma talking because I didn't show y'all the step-by-step instructions. So kind of kind of bit me in the butt on this.
Super easy here.
Install this little um bolt that has the pin that the strut connects to.
Tighten it down, put your plate on, tighten everything back down, install your seatbelt.
Get it tightened before messing with the strut.
>> [clears throat] >> I'm going to move y'all. Sorry for the shakiness. I'm using a different stand right now.
So when you get to the plate here, what I did, and this is what I've seen on other videos, is basically you want to open the door up all the way to where that support strap or support cable, whatever you want to call it, is taut.
Once it's taut, you're going to lay your bracket up here.
Do not drill holes yet.
Take your strut, install it here, let it extend all the way.
Once it's extended all the way, what what I did to just kind of help, leave a little looseness in there, and there's not much cuz I wanted my door to open as much as possible.
You'll take your strut, install it to the plate.
Put your plate up against the door like like it's mounted right here.
Mark your bolt holes.
And like I said, if you want your door to only open so far, I don't know if y'all could see that.
You see how much slack is in that cable down there now?
So that's less door opening.
And what you're doing is this bracket will actually come forward more. So really, when you install this piece, it's going to be on a personal preference on whether, let me back up and show y'all.
Whether or not you want this door to open up all the way where you can access, put whatever you want in there, easy in and out, whatever you're wanting to do in there.
Or like I said, you can move that bracket and it'd be less opening.
I wanted mine installed wide open.
Now, that does put tension on this.
You can upgrade that cable to a little bit stronger cable. I didn't. I don't plan on letting my door just open and fly open cuz if you do, just open the door and let go, it's going to fly open.
That's one of the kind of things I'm still getting used to on this.
So I'm going to close the door. We're going to move to the outside and we'll explain something on that.
And guys, if y'all have any other questions on this, hey, hope y'all are doing well.
So got the two bolts here.
It comes with rubber washers and a uh metal washer on the outside. It's all pressed together.
So once you mark the inside, I drilled from the inside out cuz that's where my markings were.
You can also use a little punch to get center punch the hole.
Um but anyways, once you do that, clean the hole up a little bit.
I put a little bit of black paint back inside there. I mean, it's aluminum.
It's not going to rust, but just peace of mind for me.
Come on the outside and make sure the outside edge is completely clean.
Run both your bolt holes. If you need someone to help you hold it, I suggest a friend. Sorry for the shakiness again, guys.
What I did, I just slid one one bolt all the way through.
Got it in.
Put the plate on.
Put this nut on and washer.
That way it was there. I didn't have help to do it.
And then came over, put the bolt through. Same same concept on this side.
Leave it loose. You do have about I'd say about 3/4 in of play from side to side that you can play with.
I can loosen mine up and actually bring it in a little bit and that would take some tension off this cable.
I may do that, but we will see.
But like I said, guys, pretty pretty simple install.
The driver side, give me a second. I'm going to I'm going to move the side to side over.
I'm going to explain something on that side to y'all because there is one extra step over there that I feel like y'all need to see. So So I'll be right back and give me just a second.
All right, guys.
Hope y'all can see this well. So we're on the driver side.
Yes, I know I got some loose wires here.
I got to go back and run it through here and zip tie it all back together.
But what I was wanting to show y'all on the driver side, this is where all your cables tied in.
And like I said, I just installed all this, so I need to tuck all these wires back in.
But anyways, when you take the seatbelt off before you install this bracket, my opinion is to pull these two plastic pins, whatever you want to call them, take this cover off.
Install this, but do Do tighten it down.
Before you tighten this down, what I did, I went ahead and mounted everything, got the bolts put back in, seat belt on, made sure that this bolt here for the uh I guess you'd call it a stud for the uh strut here.
Sorry, I'm having problems talking.
Got all this loosely fitted, slid this back in behind it.
It is a pain in the butt to try and get this to sit correctly to install this bolt and the seat belt bolt.
When I mean a pain in the butt, a pain in the butt.
If you know a better way of installing this, please let me know.
Cuz all I did was take these two out lightly, installed everything, slid it back down, put the pins back in, fixed my wires the best I could. This is not factory. This is a auxiliary wire for the lights on my rack.
Once I got all that done, tightened it down, and then I moved on to the outside of the door, just like the passenger side.
Same thing, two bolts, the strut stud, and the strut.
Like I said, you still have like 3/4 in play left or right here that you can either bring the door in or out just a little bit.
But guys, that's pretty much it.
Like I said, I'm sorry that I didn't do the full step-by-step.
The only reason I'm not taking all this apart because this is a pain in the butt. I ain't going to lie.
So, I hope y'all enjoyed this. If you have any questions on the install, please please leave some comments below.
I'll answer them the best I can.
I also will leave a link to where I got these struts from. I believe it was Iron Off Road. Um don't don't quote me on that.
But like I said, I'll leave a link in the comments or in the description, whichever one.
But guys, thank y'all.
If y'all like this video, please give me a thumbs up.
Hit that subscribe button.
Trying to get to that thousand followers. It'd be greatly appreciated.
Thank y'all. And also, I'm sorry for all the shakiness. This tripod that I'm trying to use so I can be hands-free for the most part, explain stuff to y'all.
I'm trying to get used to it.
It's a little bit difficult.
But thank y'all, and we'll see y'all in the next video.
