This video provides a comprehensive Sunday night update on global earthquake activity, highlighting seismic events across multiple tectonic zones including the Aleutian Trench, Cascadia Subduction Zone, San Andreas Fault, and Philippine Trench. The presenter explains that while most regions show minor microquake activity, the Philippine Trench area requires close monitoring due to a cluster of 5.0 magnitude earthquakes in a major subduction zone. The video also covers volcanic activity at Kilauea, which shows signs of approaching eruption based on deformation data matching previous patterns, and discusses space weather activity with sunspot group 4446 and associated flare risks. The presenter emphasizes that continuous monitoring of seismic patterns, tremor counts, and ground deformation is essential for predicting larger seismic events and volcanic eruptions.

Aleutian Trench Alaska Earthquake activity. Philippine Trench Still rocking. Sunday Night report.Added:
Good evening everyone. Welcome back here to a Sunday night, May 24th, 2026, Memorial Day. Tomorrow it is 10:5 uh 10:49 p.m. That's California time.
Latest activity here on the earthquake 3D globe shows a 2.6 across uh well, there's a 2.2 in Alaska. 2.6 looks like that's hiding here across the Indonesia area.
A couple of the latest earthquakes there on the map. Alaska been uh kind of swarming up here in the last couple days up around this area of the Illusian Trench. Still watching this area of the Pacific plate closely because of all the activity here recently.
And this area specifically has a decent amount of clustering going on there.
Nothing big yet, but it is a potential area to watch here when it comes to some larger movement. Uh areas up along the Alaska area. We got the typical uh subduction zone earthquakes that are happening up there. There's that 4.8 back down here. Looks like the latest quake up here at 3.1 near King Salmon, Alaska. I'll take some uh smoked salmon.
Thank you. Sounds good. I love that stuff. Uh up into the Pacific Northwest.
One little microquake being reported there outside of Tacoma, but uh I don't see anything major showing up. Cascadia Subduction Zone, pretty quiet. the tremor counts out there. Slow slip events as you can see. Nothing showing up here for today.
No earthquake activity either. Kind of goes hand in hand. Uh it's a pattern that's been going on here in the last oh few months or so. I've noticed when the tremor counts stir up that almost immediately causes earthquake strain up along the locked area of the Cascadia.
not all the time up north or the center portion mainly here across the southern end of the Cascadia. That's why I think this area is uh uh it could be uh coming up here maybe for a partial rupture. We do have to watch that some smaller quake activity outside of Lake Beressa. Couple ones out there this morning, but nothing big going on. Bay Area, San Francisco, it is uh yep, it's quiet once again out there. little cluster here across the San Andreas fault and just off of there. Uh but really nothing big going on. Southern California.
Uh let's see, one earthquake above 2.5 at a 2.5 level here just off the Parkfield section of the San Andreas fault.
Uh that earthquake striking the western side there of the Sanwaqin Valley.
But aside from that, as you can see, just uh mostly microquake activity out there, including one off the Long Beach area, San Pedro off on the uh one of these fault systems here.
Southern California just littered with faults.
Uh Yellowstone National Park, there is nothing showing up, but we will double check that here. Standby if it's working. Hopefully, it is.
There we go.
Uh, one of the latest seismograph stations up here. Looks like it is working. And really not a whole lot as you can see here. One earthquake this time last night, but aside from that, it's super quiet at the super volcano.
Uh, Peran Basin out there. Just oil fields galore kicking up. Nothing new to report across that area.
eastern portion of the country quite as well.
Making sure I'm recording and I have stuff muted that I need muted. Uh over here across the Philippine area, the Philippine Sea, Philippine trench zone, major subduction area. This area is getting hammered still with earthquake activity. Uh if you look here on the earthquake 3D globe, there's a uh a decent cluster of 5.0 no earthquake activity happening on it right now.
Areas up north around Taiwan and in into Japan are the quiet zones today. Um some deeper activity stirring up here across the Indonesia area, but I do think it's wise to watch the Philippines uh with that cluster going on there on a major subduction zone here. So watch that closely.
Um Australia pretty quiet little 2.5.
New Zealand. Couple threes down there across the plate boundary, but really nothing big going on.
Um, same for the South America area and Central America up into the middle America trench. Just some twos and threes. A couple fours tossed in there.
Nothing big, folks. Nothing big going on there. I got a 4.5 way up north right now, north of Iceland here.
Kind of a odd quake, but hey, it they do get some movement out here.
the Mediterranean area. Looks like there's a four-pointer out around, let's see where that's at. Of course, the USGS not showing it.
Looks like that is out here in the uh uh the Sea of Cree possibly 4.0. A couple other smaller quakes out there as well. Nothing uh nothing major going on for now.
Uh Hawaii, I was looking at the U webcam there of the Kilawea volcano. We got the vents out there glowing. Um they really haven't talked too much about it far as the USGS goes. Their last statement on anything was the earthquake there in Hawaii uh a couple nights ago there, the sixpointer.
Um, but looking at the deformation data here on Kilawea volcano, it does look like we're getting close here to an eruption. We've matched and exceeded here uh one of the levels leading up to the eruption back in May, early May. Um, and it does look like we're at or just about to exceed the maximum inflation level um in our last run up there to the eruption. So, it that could happen very soon. I'm thinking uh possibly even by morning time as far as the uh eruption goes.
Uh space weather activity. Refresh this.
Make sure we got the latest data. I'm I'm a little disappointed here. We got this massive sunspot area out here. 4446 that was throwing off X flares a few days back when it was on the far side. It's still got some massive areas out here. It's a large sunspot group.
Uh but gosh darn it, it's not uh really popping off much of anything. I guess we'll have to watch it and see if uh if it stirs back up or not.
Got this area. This one's starting to separate. And there's really not a whole lot um else out there to watch. So, we just got to watch this region. That's again 44 46 and maybe another newer sunspot adding up there uh over on the top side of that sunspot area.
Uh overall flare threat right now remaining steady at about 5% chance there for the X flare inflair at 35 C flare at 95% chance. And looking at those magnetogram images of that sunspot it's uh it's probably about accurate there for those numbers. No major roars in the forecast. No major chronal holes.
We'll just kind of keep an eye here on the sun and uh see if it's going to stir up or not.
Um Storm Prediction Center here. Is there any tornado activity today or any severe weather? Little scattered out there.
Look at that. 40 reports of wind, but it's all over the place here.
Couple hail reports up north in the South Dakota area, it looks like.
But um let's see what we got far as uh tomorrow goes for the Memorial Day here. It doesn't look like much is going on. We got thunderstorm activity actually across a broad area of the country. Marginal risk for some severe weather that uh no tornado threat. Looks to be mainly wind, a little bit of hail threat as well, but really not a whole lot coming in right now. uh the severe weather pattern at a on a pause, which I think is good, but it's gonna think it's going to come back here soon.
Uh Pacific Northwest up here, we got some cooler weather coming in. I'm I'm tired of these upper 90s, so looks like someone sent the weather down to my neck of the woods here to cool us cool us off a little bit. Rain, I think, will be limited to the extreme coast there of Northern California, maybe the mountains of California into Oregon. I don't think we'll pick up anything in the valley.
Although, some of the models here are hinting at some precipitation making its way into the valley as that low pressure uh is parked right there over Northern California.
Looks like it sticks around for a day or two. Um after that, uh let's see what we got. Maybe another weather maker here first week of June for California.
Severe weather threat. Let's see where that's at here.
Yeah. Well, I got massive high pressure coming down just blocking the severe weather threat across the uh southern plains area.
There's going to be some thunderstorm activity out there through the desert southwest. But I don't see uh any major severe weather patterns on this run that goes to the uh June 10th time period.
Of course, this is all subject to change.
Uh, let's see what else is there, folks.
A little earthquake on Petroleia. I I can bet you that they're not even showing it. Let's go check and see what we got.
Yeah, nothing. See, nothing's showing up. Even though it's a little little spike of an earthquake, it's it's just one of the areas here where the USGS will only publish them if they're above a certain threshold. So, I'm I'm always seeing earthquake activity showing up there across Petroleia. I think we'd be surprised at the amount of earthquakes that are striking out here and uh not being listed.
But, uh hey, what can we do for now?
What can we do? Um no word yet on, you know, any investigative journalism in regards to that power outage I had here.
Uh not last night, but the night before.
Uh I did email a number of news agencies. I haven't got a reply back from them though. So uh just it's one of those things where I think something shady is going on as to why they shut the power down for 6 hours from 2 to 8:00 a.m. uh across a rural area here in Northern California outside of Chico for you know there's probably 3,000 maybe a little bit less than that people affected out here. Um, but uh, yeah, most people not caring because they were sleeping at the time, but I want to know why it was why it happened and why the ex why uh the internet out here had to go down with it, you know?
It's it's weird. Definitely strange.
Anyway, I'll continue to pursue my my own investigation in that.
Aside from that folks, um how we looking out here in terms of statistics and uh anomalies across the uh states here? I want to check out the precipitation anomaly.
Look at the West Coast, man. Super super dry. Super dry.
This is the last 15 days, last seven days or so. It just it'd be nice to have some rain, but I I don't think it's coming. We'll see.
last six months of precipitation anomaly.
Uh I mean we I think we hit about average out here. That's why it's showing white. Uh meaning that it's not a surplus and it's not a deficit, just average, which is good. We've had some years where we've only had like 30% out here. So we're good. Um, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what the El Nino outlook is. Um, if we go over and look at these long range models, it's looking here like it's going to be a wet one uh for the precipitation out here across California. If we put this map into motion, this is for July. Notice a lot of monsunal moisture coming in here.
Looks a little dry out here across Southern Plains, though. Uh, August Look at this big blob of precipitation coming up in the Southern California.
This is for September.
Um October.
Let's see. November. It looks quite wet down south here.
December, January. January looks super wet across California.
Way above precipitation out there for February or for January. February too.
So, this is just uh you know, it's an interesting thing. I love watching the El Nino patterns out here because it greatly influences the uh the patterns out here, the North American winter. And uh it looks like it's going to be uh quite wet out here across California for our next winter coming up. So, I'm looking forward to that. I'm a I'm a big time weather fan and I don't like dry, boring weather.
I could never live in Arizona. I mean, yeah, they get some thunderstorms out there and monsunal moisture, but it's just too hot and it's just too dry the majority of the year, you know, but there's some people that love that, you know. When it comes to the word nice weather, it's a very subjective word.
Um, it could mean anywhere from -20 for some people to 110. Uh, I'm not one of those 110 guy people. I would love to have it at -20 instead of 110.
I'll go outside and chop some firewood.
There's always ways to stay warm.
All right, folks. I'm out of here. Have yourself a wonderful evening. Again, a couple spikes out there in Petroleia.
One on the Philippines, uh, one in Indonesia. Just got to watch the Philippine trench over here that looks like it may be stirring up a larger quake. We'll keep an eye on it. Have a good night. We'll see you guys out here in the morning.
