Can a Massive Rubber Band Ball Stop a Bullet?Added:
Could a giant rubber band ball stop a bullet? My name's Parker. Welcome back to EE life where we take anything and everything and we shoot with guns and we see what happens. Today, we have a rubber band ball with probably over 10,000 rubber bands that we made. It's over 20 lb. It is 100% rubber bands all the way down to the core. We literally started with a tiny ball of rubber bands and worked our way up. The inner portion has thicker tan rubber bands and then the outer portion has these thin colorful ones. We're going to start small with a.22 and we're going to work our way all the way up to a.50 BMG and see what this will stop. Fred is standing by hoping it stops everything.
I'm not so sure. Either way, it's going to be fun. Roll the Roll the intro.
Roll.
People liked the intro, though.
>> Roll Just play it. Okay. Goodness. No, no, no, no. You don't need to All right.
Let's go.
Stop.
This is the same revolver that I used to take down a grizzly in Alaska.
>> [music] >> Okay, really quick. I'm just going to go to the highest point on our office building and I'm going to throw it off and see how high it'll bounce and then we'll come back and shoot it. Okay, ready?
Ready.
Three, two, one.
>> [music] >> WHAT?
DUDE, came almost all the way back up. Okay, we're back down here at the range. We're starting small with our Ruger Mark IV shooting our little round of.22. What's going to happen? I don't know. Are we going to have rubber bands flying everywhere? Let's see. Zack, do you think the bullet's going to bounce off the rubber band ball and hit me in the face? We're not in a cartoon. That's not how that this works. Like Boing. I think I saw it in Looney Tunes.
All right, here we go.
We lost one band. One band? Looks like it may have snuck in right here. And yeah, there's a crack right there in the inner tan inner tan band right there.
But it did not make it through. Fred is still fine. His belly is clean. Giant rubber band ball stops a.22. Here we go. Moving up to our Glock 19. Round of round of 9 mil in there. Big jump up.
Could the giant rubber band ball stop one of the most popular rounds in the world? This is a big moment, Zach. Huge.
All right.
Entry right there. Can you guys slide of that, Zach? I see it.
>> eyes on it?
>> Yep.
>> There's our entry and did not make it out the other side. Thank goodness.
Nothing out the other side. Wow. Moving up to the 1911. Have about round of.45 ACP. Big fat round. We should be able to get a nice look at our entry in the rubber band ball on this one. Excited to see what it does. You didn't do the trick shot for the 9 mil, man.
Cuz I nailed it last week. You're done with it? Yeah, I'm done. You want me to do the 1911 real quick?
You can give it a shot.
Give it a shot. Yeah, I can I can get it. Ready?
Yep.
Was that like a pump fake or something?
Yeah.
Here we go.
Whoa.
Were you ready? I mean, I guess so. You just kind of caught me off guard.
>> Yeah, I was just ready. Here we go.
Bigger entry just like we suspected.
>> Nothing out the back. We're just losing a few rubber bands here at the back, but Fred's still fine. Rubber band ball is dense. Dense. Zach, we're moving up to the 10 mil. Oh. People love the 10 mil.
We don't shoot it very often. There's our round right there. We've got our What is this? Smith & Wesson handgun here. Pretty fun caliber to shoot.
Little bit of more of a boom than the 9 mil. See what it does.
All right, here we go.
10 mil versus rubber band ball.
Nice little boom. Okay, here go. There's our entry. Kind of small entry, Zach.
So, there you go. That's where it went in and nothing out the back. Rubber band ball, 10 mil proof. Stops our 9 mil or 1911. Now the 10 mil. These rubber bands are very tough, Zach. They're just stretchy. Yeah, that's what they're for.
Who would have thought this would stop a bullet?
>> 10,000 of them.
>> crazy. Moving up to our Ruger Redhawk revolver. No more messing around. We have a round of.44 magnum here. This is a round of bear load, Zach. So, let's see what it does to our rubber band ball. You're not going to tell me some outlandish story about you taking on a bear in Alaska this time, or No.
Sometimes it's just time to grow up, Zach. What? Me? You're the one that's No, I don't want you talking or going on any tangents about any stories or any weird editing in the video. Let's just shoot the rubber band ball. Okay.
>> Let's just give the people what they want.
>> I'm okay with that.
>> [clears throat] >> This does like low-key remind me of this time.
>> though. All right, here we go.
Nice big entry right here, Zach. And nothing out the other side. Fred Still fine. It's holding up great, Zach. It is. Our rubber band ball is.44 magnum proof, but will it be Desert Eagle proof? Let's move up. Moving up to the biggest handgun in the world, our Desert Eagle. We have a round of.50 AE. What is this going to do? The Desert Eagle just obliterates things. Last time I shot it, the casing hit me right in the teeth, so I'm going to keep my mouth closed. Let's shoot it. I think it's going to go through, Zach. The rubber band ball has put up a heck of a fight, but I think the Deagle is just This thing's just insane. I think it's going to go through. Let's see. Fred's hoping it doesn't. Fred Just think happy thoughts. Look at that horizon and uh we'll see if you make it out the other side.
You ready? Yeah.
Fred, this thing's just a monster, dude.
It's just another level. If this stopped it, that's going to be crazy. Lots of tearing from our outside colorful rubber bands here. You see that inner tan core?
Nice big entry. It stopped it, Zach. The rubber band ball has stopped the Desert Eagle. Fred, you made it, buddy. How's it feel? I told you it was going to be fine. Rubber bands stops one of the biggest handguns in the world. Let's move up to a shotgun slug, see what that does, see if a bunch of these bands go flying. It should be fun to shoot. All right, Zach, the don't snap, please.
Sorry. Makes me nervous. Rubber band ball has stopped everything that we've shot at it so far, including the mighty Desert Eagle. Next up, we are going to shoot a 12-gauge. We're going to shoot it with a big old slug, a massive projectile going right at it. We have the slow-mo camera set up. Brian is out today. Zach has set it up. Maybe it'll be really interesting. Maybe we'll see some bands go flying. Maybe it'll be really boring and it'll just be a little ding. Let's see. All right, I'm going to hit record and run to you. All right.
Okay, go. Go. Go. Kind of nervous, Zach.
I don't know what's going to happen.
You think this is safe? Yeah.
All right.
Right.
Whoa.
That was crazy. The thing like looked like a cartoon, Zach. Okay, definitely the most damage so far. It broke a lot of that outer layer, and look at that.
Just a clean hole right in You just had to say it, didn't you? My timing is always way off, man. Huge hole in a rubber band ball. Very cool slow-mo.
But, clean back, clean shirt for Fred.
The rubber band ball does stop the 12-gauge slug. Still nothing has gotten through, Zach. This thing's incredible.
It's time, Zach. The band ball has had a good run. It stopped everything so far, but it's time for some real firepower.
We have the AR-15. We have a round of.223, the fastest round that we fired by far, will be coming out of this puppy.
Can it make it all the way through, or will it just do one of those weird things where the AR is going too fast and it just doesn't penetrate very far?
Let's see. Here we go.
.223 versus a giant rubber band ball.
Whoa. So, still a really cool like shockwave. Let's go see if it went through. Going to be a small entry, Zach. Look how small that is. Just barely snuck in on the outside. Moment of truth, let's see. Stopped it. Bro, the rubber band ball stops our first rifle of the day. That's crazy. Could anything go through it? All right, moving up to our gold SCAR here.
Shooting a round of.308 that is not in that mag properly.
Thank you. Could the mighty.308 go through the rubber band ball and do what the.223 could not? Let's see. Here we go.
Firing.
So cool. Lost a few bands.
See that shockwave? Look at them just rolling off. Here we go, Zach. Our ball is losing bands. Here is our entry from the.308. Didn't go through? Did not go through. The rubber band ball stops the.308. Stops the mighty SCAR. I'm starting to wonder if the.50 cal will even go through this thing. Is this thing just impenetrable? We need to move up first to the.30-06. That is a bit stronger than a.308. See what that one does. And see if anything's going And then It just I just going to What? Zach, I think instead of digging the bullets out of this ball, we should just give it away. So, you guys stick around to figure out how you could win this ball at the end of the video. It'll be like one of those games where you cut out the bullets and find the hidden treasure.
Yeah, like one of those mini like archaeology games that you get as a kid.
You like find the dinosaur bones. It's time for the.30-06. Zach, cue the music.
That was epic.
>> Thanks. Moving up to the.30-06. Here's our round right here. Very big boy.
Bigger than the.308. Could it finally do what everything else has not been able to do today? Penetrate our gigantic ball of rubber. Let's see. Here we go, Zach.
You ready? Ready.
Ball just warps from the bullet. Chunks coming out the back. Let's see if this one made it through. I think Zach, this is our first like kind of discoloring or charring on the front here. These outer rubber bands are kind of black. Here's our entry, pretty inconspicuous. See the other side. Oh, massive exit. Woah. Look at that thing. Huge exit out the back.
All the rubber bands just broke. And look at this, Fred got hit. Right in the belly button. Boom. Huge like almost like a horizontal entry into him. Pretty interesting. And it made it all the way out his back as well. Wow, the force of that thing. Rubber band ball stopped everything, but was no match for the.30-06. We're going to turn this puppy, and I'm going to hit it with a round of.50 BMG, Zach.
And we're going to see is the whole thing just going to explode, or is it going to just be a clean entry and exit?
You know, there going to be rubber bands everywhere. Fred, sorry. One more time, buddy. Let's hit it with the.50 cal. See what happens.
Okay, we're moving up to the.50 cal.
I'm geared up. We are all set up and ready to go. Only the.30-06 has made it through our rubber band ball and gotten to Fred. Will the.50 cal go straight through? Will the entire band explode?
Either way, I'm excited. It's the moment of truth. Let's do this. Eagle one, this is Ghostrider requesting clears to engage target.
Roger that, green light to Ghostrider.
There's nobody up there.
>> That is Eagle one right there. It's not It's just a random plane. Yep. Zach still doesn't believe me. Nope. Hold back on the airstrike, Ron.
What?
All right, I'm firing.
Hang on, Fred.
Fred.
Woah. Big flash there. Ball just warps.
Bands go flying.
But it stayed intact. I just see spaghetti here in the front. Zach, Fred went flying. He has not flown like that all day. Can only suspect it's It's it went through. Here is our ball. This was our entry. Not a very big entry. Not even a lot of charring here. Here was our exit from the.30-06 and it made it all the way through the other side right here. Zach, my only thought is that that round is just so solid and moving so fast. There's not a very big exit here because the ball just didn't even stand a chance. It just ripped smoothly right through it like butter. Out the other side, knocked Fred backwards on his face, entered right in the same area that the.30-06 did, came out the other side.
Rough day for Fred. Great day for our rubber band ball up until the last two guns. It just didn't have it in it for the.30-06 or the.50 cal. We've got bands everywhere here. As much as I would love to keep this rubber band ball here as a piece of Yee Yee history, it doesn't belong to us, Zach. What do you mean? It belongs to the people. We are going to send this rubber band ball to one of you guys. >> Yeah, just ship it. It took me like 2 weeks to make that thing.
>> No, just Doesn't belong to you, Zach. Belongs to the people. Aye, aye, captain.
YEE YEE!
>> [screaming] >> HOW many Freds does it take TO STOP A BULLET COMING AT 10 MILLION SUBSCRIBERS?
