We finally did the ColosseumAdded:
Look where we are. Colosseum, [laughter] here, right there. Right there. So, welcome to Rome, everyone. You're in Rome. Yay, there's the Colosseum.
>> Colosseum, Rome.
>> Yay, there's Rome. So, uh we're out to head off to the Colosseum and then also look for breakfast.
Yeah, I I I expect a little more chilly, but I think the weather is kind of perfect now.
Yeah, so I think it's uh Celsius 15, something like that, and it's supposed to be 26 by afternoon. It looks like we found a place here. You can see what the food looks like. Pretty good.
So, there's our sandwich. They heated it up, actually, so it's melted with uh spinach. It's good.
AG you got a coffee. I got a blueberry juice.
Really, really good. Way better than I thought. It was really good. So, we just got out and uh you'll notice what the streets are all kind of cobblestone, so that sound is basically all the luggage rolling over the over the streets.
>> Now, I totally understand why people say, you know, their luggage roll.
Lovely place, lovely Yeah, cuz the way this is not designed for that. So, I can also see where people get upset with like too much tourism cuz it's just it's not designed for this many people and such. But, that's how they have to our cities make money. Yeah, I mean, that's the I think the economy of some of these cities is all it's all tourist. So, people worry that, you know, the city will leaves.
Leaves that the tourist now. Then COVID hit, it's everything.
>> Oh, yeah, that would have hurt a lot of small businesses and such. Yeah. Oh, buildings and the environment's pretty It's actually pretty similar to Paris kind of feeling now that we get out more into the city.
Another place.
>> Yeah, another place. Maybe that's the bigger one to go to you can see behind there.
So, but around here I checked the prices of some of the places, if you're curious, uh cheaper places maybe 5 to 10 euro, but then more expensive could be like 50 to 100 euro. It's really like that. It's per person. Yeah. You can see the kind of cool city parks that are here.
It looks very similar to France, um in in Paris, like the the cities and things you can see. And the roads, what's that?
I usually see the kind of ancient stuff.
Oh, that's like a ruin, yeah. That's over there you need to be referring to.
Funny. Then just the middle of, you know, the city [laughter] which is kind of funny.
>> So, so I heard that, you know, they cannot really make the subway bigger and longer cuz Oh, you want to destroy stuff.
>> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, and shovel. I don't know if you found another one that just they got.
>> [laughter] >> Could be.
We're coming up to this like cool staircase area in town and Yeah, I don't even know what this is.
It's That was cool. This all looks cool, whatever it is.
I got to cross there? Okay.
We're going here. Okay.
Look at this fountain, it's great.
There's no lights or anything.
It makes it hard to cross the streets.
Let's go slow.
>> Just don't get killed.
But no one's stopping at all. Do we go left or straight? You can see the morning traffic where we're at is actually really quite a lot. And uh, one guy's got a little devil ears on his uh, motorcycle. So, arriving at Colosseum area and you can see what it looks like.
Oh, then you can see like this is just all ruins.
And it's just kind of laying everywhere on the ground.
>> [laughter] >> It's kind of funny, you know.
They probably Oh, if you want to build like apartment, whatever, then you know, they start digging, you know, a ruin.
Okay.
And you can see what we're looking at.
It's it's really big, actually.
And then the Colosseum is uh, just off in the distance. We're walking to it.
There's one road everyone's just going to the Colosseum right now. Whatever it is, but they're setting up for some sort of event here.
And then we're again, the Colosseum is right there.
You can see the walk up to the Colosseum. People are taking wedding photos apparently on their honeymoon.
Yeah.
And we saw another one behind us doing that. Sweet, they do that, too?
Yeah, right. If you got to rent the dress and do the you can do the whole thing.
Pretty good, though. That's a Those are really nice photos. So, we're going inside, but it's uh, right there.
It's a long line Really long line. We got to figure this out. So, we are at uh 8:30 our tickets for 8:45. You can actually see the lines, but I think we're just opening up now. So, we're like the first people of the day, but it it fills up really fast. So, I would recommend if you want to come first first, come here probably hour to 2 hours ahead of time of opening. And the line is still going.
But, it's it's the Coliseum right there.
It's cool.
So, it wasn't that long. We got in line, only 10-minute line maybe. It's not that long. Yeah, but but our tickets we we're getting in like literally at the same time as our tickets are timed. So, it worked out well. You're inside. Yeah, it's basically a sports stadium except really cool.
With lions and tigers and you know, doors and stuff. Yeah. So, what it looks like here. There's uh three levels, so the attic, the like what they call the underground I think, and then the uh arena at level. So, what's that? The underground?
They used to hold arenas, so you could not see, but now it's all open, so you don't I don't know. You don't have to go to the ground because you can see, you know.
There's like entries ways into the stadium. So, we're going up the stairs here, and it's actually really steep. I wouldn't expect that. And this is what it looks like.
This is seriously way more steeper stairs than I would have expected. Now at the top level, and I'm thinking there might have been seats over here.
They just ruined Yeah, these are old seats. So, suppose here.
So, they uh 80,000 people can Oh, is it that big you think?
>> yeah. Oh, okay.
Yeah, and then this is the bigger wider area.
I think there is a kind of king.
The where the king sits. Should be the bottom. Yeah, it's the marble. Well, you see in the movies that the king's kind of in the middle. Oh, like over here.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. So, there's like an entry way here. So, there's no one down there right now, which is interesting. I'm not sure why. It's got blocked off probably. Mhm.
And then you see there's different lookout points. Then I guess there's there's a bunch of cages and stuff like where the animals were and the people and then they were saying the gladiators walk through those gates they come fight. They they supposed to be over there. They always come you know the other side. Oh and well in the movies yeah.
>> Yeah. We got to watch that movie again.
>> and here. There's an overview of the Colosseum you can see right there.
Way better in person it's actually really fantastic.
Okay so if you want your gladiator t-shirts Colosseum t-shirts they got them all right here.
And for some reason a cat I'm not quite sure where the cat fits in I must have missed on that one. Colosseum looks pretty cool though actually.
For like a cool bike this is pretty good.
Oh now we can get a Caesar head. I didn't know I could get a Caesar head.
That's pretty funny.
Oh look at this actually these little little little decorations are pretty good. Down here so if you guys are into these sort of statues and things yeah these are pretty cool you got little gladiators and Caesars and horses and stuff. We found a place to sit at the Colosseum. Yeah where the Romanians sat the right?
>> [laughter] >> Maybe maybe the Romans we say Romans.
Yeah Romans yeah. So this is a view of what it looks like it's actually kind of fun we found a nice shady spot to sit and just watching the people go by it really gets crowded but it's a nice environment actually. So I guess they used to have a problem with people writing on the walls that's what the AG said so now it's really expensive throw in prison or fine you 15,000 euro.
They have like these little room areas everywhere where this must have been marble I'm guessing.
Then you can see the different kind of ruins here.
So the AG's got an idea.
We should be easy if you like you know these kind of old ancient stuff.
>> I do I do actually I mean actually in New York the Temple of Dendur is my favorite the Egyptian part but it's it's it's really impressive I know on the camera it's like it's just a bunch of rocks but it looks it looks really cool cuz you can see the stuff etched in there's like writing up know, know you can look closer.
>> Writing and You can actually see it there, right?
And then like little like a bird kind of feathers.
So, and you know, this is probably around I think this building was like 70 or 80 AD, so a couple thousand years old. This is all still [snorts] here.
You can see they have these different exhibits here and then signage. So, here's an area with no people and it really is just like movie like the pigeons in the movies hanging out there and then off to the dungeon kind of feeling.
I was telling Yianni how impressive this is, right? You got to have an arch kind of thing. You can see the individual pieces and they're not collapsed. You can see there's a lot more people now and there's like a tour group with red hats.
So, we found a secret spot for picture and video right here. It's pretty good.
So, the map here is interesting because they actually don't want you to go backwards. So, you go all the way around through, right? And then out the exit.
So, there there is no back.
And someone tried to go back up the stairs into there, which I thought you could just go back up to, but no, that's today.
Because you got to get people out cuz there's just too many too many Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Don't know what that is, but it's certainly cool. And then they come to the final part, which looks like a pretty good viewing area.
So, we're on the lower level into the more ground where they were fighting and stuff.
Oh, so then they got like restricted area over here. Maybe that's for tours.
I don't know, he's like over Maybe. I don't know. We got to So, we got to remember you can't go backwards, so No, no, that's the arena entrance. No, no, but down there there is a path, too.
You do see?
No, but this is the area that we can't go in.
I don't know, it's strange. They they cuz they sell that as the arena entrance, but this is kind of same, so I don't quite get that.
>> [laughter] >> I really don't know. I don't know other than if you limit the people get a better photo, I guess. And there's notice there's writing along here.
So, you can see what it looks like and fact there's the underground right there. There's the Colosseum.
And this is what Rome is like.
So then on the ground and this would be original maybe the other one's not then or or it could have been buried.
Yeah.
You can see the ground.
There's a better view of the underground.
>> [laughter] >> So don't throw coins you're already lucky you're at the Colosseum. If it is dangerous for other underground visitors. Any more you want to see in the Colosseum?
I don't know B. But anyway we cannot go back. Yeah no no backies.
But this is more of you.
And you'll find these sort of little areas where there's no people but I it it it's all cool. And my opinion the arena special entrance isn't really much different than Yeah. than the rest. But if you can get underground I'm sure it's cool being get down there.
And that is the the exit and then this is finished fini. There must be a student group they just piled a bunch of backpacks so >> I was so worried about you and the people here I think they still don't care or No no that one person's watching. That's why it's funny.
>> person there's like 20 backpacks and you throw you know strong So I definitely think there's going to be probably pickpocket problem but here it doesn't seem like that. Uh Well just when you're here you'll you'll see.
Oh you put you know outside of Colosseum is Oh there's people actually in there.
Yeah. Aw what the heck? So that Those must be workers I guess. Yeah those are workers. Should be. Now we're going to the other part there's this big archway there and more ruins over here.
So it's all fenced off they don't even let you touch it but you can see there's really quite a lot of detail on these on these statues.
That's how it looks today in 2026.
So there's quite a lot of people and we're going to the ruin area. I know I keep saying the same thing but just come in the morning or at night and if it's midday hot it's going to be really hard.
You can see the ground it's like this so it's actually pretty hard walking if you did this all day.
In the shade the weather is quite nice.
We're in the shade right here. It's nice.
Oh wow. That is pretty impressive. We're going to take a look at this. We're just looking at the detail of the arch here.
This is really impressive.
There's a lot of tour groups so you can kind of just listen in on the tours.
You can see the the kind of the mood and the atmosphere. The shade is the best.
The shade is not bad at all actually.
It's a more view of what it looks like.
And then I guess the way they sell this area is sort of the feeling of what it would have been like to be just walking around Rome essentially.
So in the movies they always have like little market up with like little carts and stuff so this would have been kind of that. Cuz outside the Colosseum they would have had to have entertainment and things that maybe sell like pom-poms to cheer for your favorite gladiator.
>> [laughter] >> Or or make your bets. That's gambling probably.
There's a view from down below.
So the time has been pretty good. It's about 10:30 now. So we've been here since around 8:30 so it's a couple hours.
And this when you find shaded spots, you know, it's like a little bench right here.
Just take a rest.
It's like the weather is perfect in the shade. In the shade. So Y J D found like a Juliet kind of place there. It's pretty funny. It's a little I don't know what you call this secret area I guess maybe.
Oh this shade yeah, the path.
It's a really nice park basically what what it ends up being. Is that Purple flowers. Oh yeah. Yeah, if you come at certain times of year then this would have been I guess maybe a more city area would have been like Down here?
Yeah, there had to have been cuz if if that's the Colosseum like the sporting event so they would say bread and circus. Going here. I don't know where we're Why you be spur? Yeah.
Yeah, actually you're kind of in the city basically.
Yeah, so this part is pretty cool. I would say come through here.
So then I yeah.
Oh, there's like a little garden and the statues and things.
Yeah, definitely worth coming in here.
I see.
Yeah, so you can kind of just tour the whole city basically is what this is. So So this I can see this this would be it had definitely feels like it would have would have been.
The statues and such. This is a view again from uh the city.
Definitely worth a look.
The scale is actually quite big all the stuff and there's like half one there.
All the heads are missing on these.
Cut the head. I I Yeah, maybe all the heads are in the museums maybe. Or you know when this war like halfway era It could be and you can you see behind us.
You see it's all really cool. So that's just different places. He's taking a picture there.
This is the kind of the mood of the area.
I can you know you can take picture you know like unlimited picture here.
This every spot's a really good spot to take a picture. I know I keep saying the same thing but it really is a lot better in person when you when you come down and just walk through it. TV you know like travel channel I I don't maybe I don't remember. They usually only show the Colosseum cuz that's the most highlight area. They don't really show actual this city. Yeah.
You got to see it all.
Yeah.
Yeah, it's all it's all it's all good.
We're debating whether we want to go way there. I'm kind of leaning towards no.
Uh Yeah, the real experience the sort of being in the city is pretty cool.
They have like original wall over there and then you can get a better sense of what what it's like all the way around.
So that was Yadi's talking about. They must be cleaning and restoring over here.
It's funny cuz like the stuff is just laying on the ground outside.
So now we're going to go try to find lunch. It's about What time is it?
About 1:30.
>> Uh 11:30.
>> 11:30 and the restaurants are just now opening up. A lot of them uh they open up late actually for us. Like some of them open up at 12:00 I saw.
Cuz I think they have a very light breakfast at the cafe. Mhm. And lunch around it starts at 11:30. And I heard that you know here people eat dinner pretty late like 8:00, 9:00.
Yeah, I heard that too. So if we go out to dinner like at 5:00 or 6:00 it should be empty hopefully.
And then this is the detail that Yadi's talking about. It's like that.
And this is just laying around on the ground you can see. All right, so this is all over.
So we're actually not sure where we're at. We're like at a part where there's no one else at and you wonder is this really good that we came down here?
Yeah, I don't know if this is a I don't I really don't know. I I don't think it's doesn't feel like an exit.
Wall next to us here.
Maybe they covered with marble before.
That's a possibility that right? That would be the foundation of it and then this would be the outside. Yeah.
And this wall actually goes all the way.
So there's the signage there and they're saying the floor maybe used to be like that and that's kind of where it is right now.
And then that's where we were just over there. So you'll notice there's a lot of people. A lot. Lot of people.
Definitely come early. Keep showing you cuz you know people for those of you who've never been you got to see it for yourself. A lot of people.
It's cool though. It's definitely worth it. I know. So some people don't like to go around with places a lot of people but There is Colosseum. All right, so we came on the other We're We're on the other side. We can come here, you know, for the night view. Yeah, Colosseum's just over that direction.
>> Tonight.
Okay, and you can see there's like a statue and then there's more ruins and construction.
Uh they're also setting up for some sort of parade or something. We're not actually sure what that is.
But, you can see there's just so much to look at and take in.
Pretty pretty fantastic city, really.
They must be like putting stuff together or something, right? You can see it.
Uh and maybe they're just going to re- uh reconstruct the steps, perhaps.
So, we're resting again here. Let me show you guys our view. It's pretty cool. So, this is some sort of uh This actually we saw this morning. You can see it right there.
And then YJ said there was like a cool cafe up there, but it's €18 to get in, and I got to check tickets if we need to make a time reservation or not. But, it Everything's There's a lot of stuff to do. You can't You can't do everything. You can't. So, even if you miss something, it's fine.
Just enjoy your It's nice good just to sit out and enjoy the environment. Everything's cool. It's like that. Everything's really cool.
That's what traffic looks like. Give you a sense of it. [music] It's really light. So, YJ's trying to find out where on the map the restaurant is. It's not far.
Uh but, it's a lot of walking. So, we just find shade and then we can check.
You found it? Okay, we'll look. So, we just kind of came in a church here.
And this is all free. The buildings are really really nice.
See the mood of it in the ceiling.
There's the church.
So, there must be some way to move an apartment, right? You have to move stuff out through the window and up and down.
So, there's the menu, and this is what the food looks like right there.
This is some of the other food also.
It's like it's panini or pizza slices, basically, is what we're looking at. And then, so, we're in a cool grocery store.
This is a Carrefour in Rome here, and this is the wine section.
And then, YJ said there's healthy drinks over here.
Oh, like these kind of things.
Yeah, we'll grab some stuff here. Kind of fun. Okay.
So, we just got a pizza. We just bought some in the market and there's apparently a really big market outside.
I don't know if this is everyday or just today.
>> know this is the first time we're here. And then we have a lot of restaurants also right on the other side. So, that's the restaurants on that side you can see. I think price is regional. Yeah.
>> Pizza is 14, 16. Don't go don't go near the Colosseum at all. Just get a little bit away.
This is like little local freshly drinks and stuff.
Yeah, we'll go through there. That'll be fine. After lunch we'll go through there. Okay, so we made it home. We got our pizza here.
And see if it's any good. Take out is so much convenient.
Yeah, so these restaurants there's not you can sit in these things but they're they're really really small. And then if you want like full sit down it's like triple price.
Um Like double.
Yeah, maybe double maybe double. Cuz this was a slice is like three to four euro basically.
So, we'll see how this is. I'm going to try this one first.
Not bad.
It's it's really um really different than what you get in Korea. So, we have we have in Korea they sell like really flat pizza.
That would be because there's different styles of course, right? So, That's more Neapolitan style.
I'm not sure. Yeah, cuz we know the different styles of pizza in in Italy.
>> [snorts] >> Try this drink. I don't know what it is.
It's like some sort of lemon cola kind of thing. Limonata.
And then there was no Wi-Fi in the or not not the Wi-Fi but like no signal in the place I couldn't translate this.
Mhm, I am.
The way we are at of this pizza place.
It's fine. Yeah, we went to buy you know the drinks, right?
A lot of the there start like monkey noise. Yeah.
>> Really loud and long time. And then I mentioned Koreans, so we knew it was racist stuff. So it was like So you just had to record it. I should record it. It's hard to apply your camera. And it was funny because in USA I hate racism, so right? Here, it's just so laughable. It's laughable in USA too. It's a different environment. So in in USA environment um like I grew up there and then minorities like really bullying there's like a lot of bullies in USA. Basically the way to describe it. Here it's like two without tourists you have no economy. Just Just practically. And it's weird to like make fun of your customers. It's really bizarre. Yeah, so it was Okay, who's to make fun of who?
It was really weird.
And so um the the the FIFA had a problem with this where they had to like cuz there there were too many basically It was Italy specifically where they were doing making the monkey sounds to some of the players in other teams. Um but to actually see it, it's it's laughable.
It's so stupid. So I don't even get angry. It's just like, man, these people are dumb. So And >> But it's not everybody. Everyone else has actually been pretty good. Um just you have to mention it cuz they just don't see that often. So we're going to finish eating lunch here. Just wanted to share some with you guys.
And uh you can join us on our on our journey. So thanks for watching and then we'll catch y'all next time. So bye.
>> Bye.
