All of this was FREE on marketplace??本站添加:
Say hello.
>> Hello.
>> All right, we're just pulling up to get the graphics cards.
After prying my kid's hands off of her catstyled gaming computer, we made our way back to this Facebook Marketplace deal about an hour drive to pick up the rest of the stuff other people didn't pick up. Somebody else had beaten me to the GPUs that were listed for free. And again guys, this is really why you should definitely ask on those free listings because a lot of times people will say it's free and it's not really free, but it doesn't hurt to ask. And come to find out, the guy didn't end up picking them up at the end of the night.
So, I was invited back to the house to pick up all the rest of the remaining stuff. And there was even a PS3 in there.
All right, guys. So, what are we doing with all this stuff? Well, first of all, the giant case behind me, I'm actually going to give away in the local Boston area. So, if you live around here and you want this massive customuilt all metal case here. Now, if you're wondering what case this is, it is a Mountain Mods case. I'm not sure if it's the Ascension version. I believe it is.
It has a very similar panel. All these are custom here. You can add this to cart. And let's see. And it looks like you can still buy this case. $700. Let me know. It will be available. I am going to take a few emails on it and then I'll probably post it on marketplace. This right here, this older PC, we'll get into what this is in a second. It's an older 775 system. As I mentioned in a different video, I actually need a 775 system that has a parallel port capability. So, I think I'm going to be using this as that. And then the main reason I went after all of this, of course, is what's in this box.
I did offer to pay money for these. He just wouldn't accept it. So, yeah, let's just open it up and see what we got.
Now, it's pretty rare to get one of these old boxes, but this is the EVGA signature G4 690 box. And we got two 690s and two GTX 1080s. Now, the 1080s are missing the little terminal here, so I'll have to buy that. But, I got a different plan for these instead of even worrying about terminals. But these guys, these are the GTX 690s, and I got a plan for this, and I think you guys will like it. It's going to be another video. We're going to do a whole custom loop with dual GTX 690s. Now, at this point in the GTX 1080s life cycle, it's not really worth putting them into custom loops, but I do have these two blowers kicking around from custom loops I did years ago. So, we're going to actually put these onto these and make them usable as air cooled cards. Now, as for this giant case here, we do have an X79 Rampage motherboard, which is a very high-end motherboard. Woah, this thing is actually lighter than it looks. Now, the CPU block was just down here hanging around. I don't really know why. And there's obviously some spiderw webs, but I didn't see any spiders. But, as a water cooling enthusiast, these two pumps right here are something that I will definitely be keeping. These are SwiftTech. I believe they're D5 pumps from Swift. We'll take a look at those in a minute. And then we have the gross but beautiful Rampage motherboard, and it has VRM and chipset heat sinks from EKWB, which kind of sucks cuz I wish I had the originals, but we can clean them out and figure out a way to use it. Now, this guy's home was pretty clean, but the uh dog hair and spiderw webs were starting to kind of creep me out. Now, you guys aren't going to see this, but my tripod is literally maxed out. Look at these uh flame grill covers. Now, the owner did say that this board works, and there's a 3930K in there, and we have 32 gigs of RAM. These are 4 GB DIMs. Nope, I'm wrong about that.
I don't know what's going on with these pumps. They must be 3M in here cuz I unscrewed them. There we go.
But look at that. There's still liquid inside of them. And if you're wondering the model, these are the MCP655s.
These are D5 pumps. As for the board, it's really not even that dirty. I just brushed it off a little bit. Let's uh put it on the test bench and see if it boots up.
and let's use the GTX 690 to get an image. So, really quick before we go ahead, I want to explain what the 690 is. The 690 is an SLI card, and as you can see right here and right here, you have two different water chambers. You have this one and this one. These are two separate GPUs on one card. Now, this only has 4 gigs of RAM, and it's 2 gigs per module. So, it's not exactly, you know, going to play modern games well, but it's still a cool piece of uh history. All right, guys. Time to see if this actually posts. There is a start button on the board.
And took a little little hard push down to actually get it to go, but it's turning on. And you do have to run HDMI to DVI because there is no HDMI port on this. So, I think I'm going to have to order another adapter because I'm pretty sure this one that I have is faulty. And unfortunately, it didn't post. So, I was not intending this to turn into a boot or blue screen episode, but there's a code 34. I got to look that up real quick. All right, so it could be something to do with that GPU. So, let's try a different GPU to see if it works.
We swapped in the ASUS Poseidon card.
This is actually a sweet card, part of my collection. And this should work obviously better cuz there's adhesync on it. And uh Oh, wait. We got to plug in the HDMI.
While we're waiting for this to post, there's actually going to be two giveaways in this video. I got a lot of stuff here and I want to give some of it back. So, just stay tuned to the end and uh yeah, enjoy the video. So, as you can see, we got it to post, which is great.
It's been a long time since I've seen this old BIOS, but there is this weird thing where I'm seeing 50 gigs of RAM basically. So, maybe one of the sticks is wrong, and I definitely am wrong about them being 4 GB dims. So, I really want to know how we are getting to 50 gigs of RAM. Checking out these sticks real quick. All right, so this is actually 64 gigs, and I think I found the culprit. This has liquid on it.
Honestly, it'll probably be fine. It was just a little tiny spot, but uh I'm going to leave it out for a while and let everything completely dry up. But this is pretty insane to have 64 gigs of DDR3. Not only is it insane, but it's actually 2133. That's DDR4 speeds. All right, guys. Let's quickly discuss what we're going to do here, because I got a feeling both these cards work. He did say that this system was completely working when he last took it apart. So, what I did is I went on eBay and ordered just one of the Founders Edition coolers for pretty cheap. It's actually a a card, a full card, and the person said it was a paper weight. They're not sure if it works or not. So, if it's bad for 60 bucks, at least I can use that to test the cards. As for the other PC case, the giant PC case, I am giving this away free locally in the Boston area. So, if you live around here and you want this giant case, email me at techwondoousa@gmail and you can just have it. I'll meet up with you locally or something. Let me know. I'm not going to ship it. It's just too crazy. And speaking of shipping, I have another giveaway in this video. And it's this PS3 that he also gave me. And I'm like, I don't know what to do with all this stuff that he gave me. Comes with a digital camo PS3 authentic controller. And again, this is going to be US only. I'm sorry everybody else. It's just it's really tough. I don't do giveaways that often. And again, I don't know how many people are going to even really want a PS3. It is in beautiful shape. I did test it out, of course, and I test it out on the CRT TV over here. It does completely function. So, if you are interested in entering to win this PS3 in the US, let me know what case you think I should use for this old setup here. So, I'm going to be doing the X79 board if I get these cards up and working in a separate video. Uh, we'll be doing the dual 690.
So, that'll be a four-way SLI system.
So, I'm going to need enough space for water cooling. So, leave a comment of what case you think I should pick. uh drop a like and that's it and you'll be entered to potentially win this. And like sometime next week or something, I'll do a little live where I pick the winner and yeah, we'll go from there. As for this PC, I think I'm going to be in a little bit of a situation. I might have to replace some caps. I'll show you guys that in a second. Uh the GPU we got here is a I had to take this whole thing out just to get the card out. We got an 8800 GTX from EBGA. Now, I was really hoping to use this board, but there's a few problems here. And I see right there and right there. Let me get you guys close up. Yeah. So, basically, the caps have failed. And you can see at the top where it looks like there's a K on them.
That's just how they're sealed. They are leaking out, which means they need to be replaced. We did get some pretty cool looking OCZ memory. These are just 1 GB dims, so a total of 4 gigs. And it has this cool copper heat sink on it. And as for the GTX 1080s, both of these cards post perfectly fine. Obviously, we still have to test them fully when we put the proper coolers on them, but that's a pretty good score. Out of like 270 videos or whatever on my channel, I've never done two-part videos. I think maybe I did one before. I don't remember. But this is going to end up being a two-part video. And that's why again I want you guys to leave me a comment about what case to pick. I got to be reasonable price-wise. I'm not trying to like blow 250 on a case, but if you see something cool or think of something cool that will fit the aesthetic of this retro style system.
And again, hopefully I can get the 690s up and running cuz it would be really cool to have four-way SLI with 690s and the 3930K CPU. Anyways, that's going to do it for the video. If you liked it, drop a like, subscribe, all that stuff.
And if you would like the PS3, just uh leave a comment down below. thumbs up the video and again next week I'll do like a little giveaway session where I record something or whatever it might be as to who the winner is. That's going to do it. I'll see you guys in the next one. Bye.
