Jerusalem Day commemorates the liberation of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War in 1967, marking the reunification of the divided city and granting Jews access to the Western Wall for the first time in 1,900 years; this celebration brings together people from across Israel to honor Jerusalem's historical and religious significance as the site of the ancient Temple, while also expressing hope for the future Third Temple.

JERUSALEM DAY 2026: Marching to the Western WallAdded:
Hello, all Israel news. This is Oriana Moran, and I'm here at Damascus Gate on Jerusalem Day. Jerusalem Day is about the day in which Jerusalem was liberated on the Six-Day War. What we're going to do is we're going to march all the way from Sha'ar Shchem, from Damascus Gate, all the way to the Kotel, and enjoy the Jerusalem joy today that people are united together in one heart and one spirit. Let's go. It's a It's our city.
It's the capital city. You know, like we used to we can came to the Kotel to to abide. And now we can We have to celebrate this. We dance. We sing song about Jerusalem. I want you guys to imagine as we're walking through as we're walking through the gate just how excited people were after Jerusalem was liberated to actually come through the reunified Jerusalem. So, you have to understand that before we conquered back and took Jerusalem, we had no access to parts of Jerusalem and no access to the Western Wall. So, actually, no one could go to the Western Wall. Nowadays, people can go freely. As you can see, I just walked through Sha'ar Shchem, and we're going to go all the way there because now we do have the freedom to actually celebrate our city. Here in Sha'ar Shchem, it's usually the You could call it like a more Arab entrance.
Um there are Jews that go through here, but they mainly go through Jaffa Gate and other gates. And all of these um shops over here would have been opened, but sometimes there's violence because here, Honest News, I'll tell you sometimes what happens. So, there are Jews that uh don't actually want to uh get along with the Arabs that live here, and sometimes those people will uh while they're walking through, they will attack Arabs in the Old City. Uh they will sing songs that are, you know, to the detriment of Arabs, uh like that their villages will be burnt. That is not, I think, the the So, sometimes you will see stuff like that. Um this is not definitely the mentality throughout all of Israel. You can see that there's a lot of security here.
Um all along this uh place to the uh to the Western Wall. Here, so during the Six-Day War, uh you have to look at Jerusalem not as it is today, but as a divided city. And so, once our forces were able to conquer and take back Jerusalem, all of the people within it um were able to be reunified with their families, reunified with their other territories that are ours, our historical territories, our archaeological territories, and also with the Western Wall. And that's why it's so important to people. You can sit here all around. Uh they come from everywhere, right? They come from uh the north, they come from the south, they come from all these different places in which they uh you know, uh live and are settled, so that they can come down for this one day in Jerusalem to celebrate the fact that it's reunited. For us Jews, the uh Old City is so important because it is where our temple used to stand. And so, it's the holiest uh place for Jews in the world. Right now, that holiest site for us is um basically there's a uh mosque there, and also the Dome of the Rock. And so, we have a limited access to it, but we do have access fully to the Western Wall.
>> [cheering] >> What you'll see a lot is the Beit Shlishi flag, the Third Temple flag. A lot of the people that come on days like this, they believe that there will be a third temple. And so, actually they're already preparing for it in different ways. Where they live in different settlements in Israel, you will actually have signs towards Bet Hamikdash, towards the third temple. And so, a lot of these flags you'll see third temple flags.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> It's Yom Yerushalayim.
Baruch Hashem, thank God we live here.
We live like right up there. So, we get to be here every day, but just being here today is just so special. Being with all of Am Yisrael, all united. I think there's a massive difference, cuz on a normal day you see so many different people coming, but today like the whole country's united to come down for one purpose, to come celebrate the take back of the old city in Yerushalayim as a whole. In Hebrew, there's a word called zehu, which means an honor, and really it's such an honor to be here. And like be able to celebrate, and when you close your eyes and think about how like many people literally yearn to be here, and it's really cool to get to be here and have that opportunity that they didn't. I think Jerusalem has a bright future going ahead. Um at the rate it's going, Yerushalayim will always be a Jewish Jewish city, and hopefully that with God's help will flourish. So, my parents are olim chadashim, so it's a very I understand what you're talking about, and my parents talk about it a lot, how much they they felt like they can't be in America, and they came to Israel by themselves. And I just feel like this is our place, and I'm going in the the to America, and I and I feel like I'm not going to feel at home there, and I just feel like everybody I see is my brothers and sisters, and I pray for Am Israel, for our health, for our soldiers, for myself, for Beta Migdash, obviously. People think that Judaism is trying to take over the world, and we're trying to have the third temple for ourselves, but if you read the Bible, you'll see that the third temple is for everyone, and everybody also not Jews are welcome, and Hashem wants everybody here. So, we just want the world to be a better better place, and we want peace with the world, and we want Hashem to be everywhere, and that's what going to that's what's going to happen when we have the THIRD TEMPLE.
AM ISRAEL! AM ISRAEL! AM ISRAEL!
AM ISRAEL!
AM ISRAEL! [applause] AM ISRAEL! AM ISRAEL! AM ISRAEL! HI!
>> [music] >> SO, you can see that the celebrations here are continuing. People are in high spirits. And so, from all of us here at All Israel News, we want to say thank you guys for joining. Thanks for praying for Israel. Thanks for praying for Jews down.
