In Victoria 3, a player can achieve economic dominance and high GDP per capita without traditional imperialism by strategically investing in companies across multiple nations, building trade networks, and leveraging economic influence to create a powerful economic bloc rather than conquering territory through military force.

Can You Win Victoria 3 While Doing Almost Nothing?
Added:I saw a tweet that was something along the lines of, "They should invent a Paradox gamer that isn't a map painter."
So, you know what? Here we are. We're going to play Victoria 3 like a normal guy, just a regular dude. We're not trying to create a massive empire. I'm not going to take over the entire Indo-Pacific. Maybe I'll just be a chill guy. Do a little bit of trade, maybe some investments, maybe a touch of regime change. Who could say? I never said it would be a no infamy run. I just said we might play like a regular guy, like a chill dude. Certainly, there will be no imperialism by the end of today's video. And to accomplish that, we're going to be playing as Australia.
Historically, some pretty chill guys.
Well, maybe not during this particular period of time. I have a feeling some of our neighbors here are not going to consider us very chill. That being said, first thing to do is probably unify Australia. First thing we'll go for, of course, is nationalism. And as usual, we'll start off with a little bit of industry. We just have to make sure Britain actually likes us, too. We'll throw a couple of edicts down cuz we want as many people as possible to move here. Now, we do have homesteading. We have a lot of farmers and a lot of aristocrats. I think going agrarianism super early wouldn't be too bad for the increased investment pool efficiency just because right now we have pretty much no capitalists. Of course, they did actually change Australia with the most recent update, just changing up the starting situation here. So, we start with a little bit less territory. But very puzzlingly, I think one of the things that they actually didn't change is the arable land in Australia, which I feel like has always been a little bit lower than it should be. I get that there isn't actually that much arable land in Australia as a proportion of its actual continental size, but I'm pretty sure they also have maybe 130th of the total arable land in the United States.
Like Texas alone, I think, has more arable land than the entirety of Australia, which is a little bit weird because in real life, I think the actual ratio is like 1:5 when you compare the continental United States and Australia.
So, it has always struck me as a little bit odd. Well, it's a little unorthodox, but I suppose that is one way to pull off the Opium Wars, taking the path of most resistance. Well, it's fine with me. Their army needs arms industries and land logistic centers, and we're pretty happy to provide them the iron for that.
Also going to maximize taxation for maybe the first like 10 years of the game because I am really gunning for that iron industry because I think the best thing we could do is pump out a whole bunch of iron and coal. The British have managed to take Hong Kong so we can go ahead and start federating.
There we go. We unify with the United Tribes. That's useful cuz I think there's some gold in here as well. As our industrialization is in full swing, we are going to want to pick up a metal company. We're going to give them a monopoly on iron so that I can actually sell off my iron mines. And of course, we'll let them build some coal, too, because setting up one company allows us to get some population of capitalists, of which we did not have very many. Uh, some capitalists actually used to be unemployed, which is hilarious. That's going to give us a jump to our throughput in the iron mines. And then, of course, after that, we're looking to pick up one or two boiler to make these maybe the most profitable iron mines on the planet. Now, inexplicably, the British Empire has gone for market unification. always a very weird one to put on a sovereign empire because you kind of already have market unification.
I mean, all we're really doing at this point is just increasing the supply ship's construction efficiency and a little bit of infrastructure. At this point, I think we're looking to pick up public schools and we have our water tube boiler. On top of that, also we have the gold rush now arriving in Australia. Hopefully, we can get a mass migration target out of that. But we're going to need to build a railway because we're using a little bit too much infrastructure. So, if this dips below 70%, then we cannot get our mass migrations. Kind of a problem. Something something steak too juicy, lobster too buttery. We simply have too much industry, too many people employed, and too much money being made. Speaking of money, we have the most productive iron mines in the world at this point. Now that the capitalists have a whole bunch of political strength, mostly because of their wealth. We are going to go ahead and actually swap back over to interventionism. We will at some point go Leair, but that's just not the best thing for us right now. We want to make sure that any of the industry built by the government remains in government hands until the British cannot simply buy it up. MCI Minerals, named after our executive Harvey McY here.
Unfortunately, he is actually honorable.
It's kind of a problem because that reduces the throughput even though it does decrease mortality. That's crazy.
Uh that's a shame. We're going to have to get rid of him actually. Now we have this absolute chap of an English gentleman. He is ambitious giving us plus 5% throughput. Total of 10% change which is actually a lot for us. Now the gold rush is kind of cooked in New South Wales. I can't really have the migration attraction decrease. So we did opt for the enormous number of radicals, but I'm sure they're not going to do anything.
Once again, we can federate connecting the east and the west using that to fund a whole bunch of food industry because we really want to pick up the Birthright Company. I'm thinking for this campaign, what I would really like to do is just get as many people as physically possible into Australia. Now, that might be a little bit hard to do because one of the best strategies for doing that is to invade and take parts of China. But if we're going to be a chill guy, obviously we can't be doing imperialism.
But if China isn't very amendable to business interests, then if a couple of Chinese breakaway states just happen to pop out after a little bit of enforced investment rights, then that wouldn't be imperialism. Here we go. We can pick up our Birthright Company. We're going to give them a monopoly on food industries because of course that is going to be their prestige good. Now that we have interventionism, once again, our investment pool is going to jump up with its reinvestment. Now, because we still have autocracy, we can very easily pick up whatever we want in terms of our distribution of power. And personally, I'm kind of thinking it would be nice for us to pick up technocracy. We do get an entire additional company, and that's kind of what I'm going for in this campaign. So, we are going to pick that up. I love this event so much. We're going to get an additional 50% capitalist investment pool efficiency, plus manufacturing throughput and state construction efficiency. So, we should expect the reinvestment pool to explode a little bit. It's perfect timing cuz I would like to work off a little bit of this debt. Normally, if you're recognized, having some debt isn't that bad. But then we're also having to pay the British an enormous amount of money.
So, that is not great. Of course, for our technology, we'll also want to be aligned towards the things that make our food industries as profitable as possible. After all, to actually activate their birth rate and prestige goods increase, we are going to need to increase their prosperity. And for that, they're going to need to be profitable so that they can continue to expand and continue to become more prosperous. Now, I'm not a big fan of the governor we have here. I don't like that he's romantic cuz I don't want like the aristocrats to have more power. I also don't like that he's part of the armed forces. So, we're going to ask for a new governor from Britain. We need a man like Mr. Underh Hill, part of the industrialists, and he's also a utilitarian, which is kind of useful for us. And with a name like Underh Hill, I'm sure he knows exactly where to get more iron. He's going to give us 15% additional extraction throughput. So, now that we have our technocracy, what we're looking to do right now is pick up another company. Of course, that's going to be the metal works company for the prestige good and manufacturing industries throughput. Of course, we're going to give them a tooling workshop monopoly. And then of course, the next thing we're going to want to pick up is public health insurance. If we want more population, one of the best ways to do that is to reduce mortality. At this point, we're just going to keep on stacking the iron and coal mines. We're going to pick up nitroglycerin. We're going to start making bunch of explosives. We're already, I think, the number three largest producer of iron on the planet. Yeah, sitting below Great Britain, but above the United States.
And I would really like to keep that trend going because it means we can continue to make a bunch of money and also expand our construction. The more we expand construction, the faster we can build, the more people we can employ, and so of course the more people can move here because unfortunately our total arable land is so small that we can't really get a whole bunch of people moving here to just subsist off the land. There we go. We have our health insurance, boosting that standard of living to get more people moving here and of course reducing the mortality as well. At this point, the economy has grown quite rapidly. I think it would be fine for us to actually create our own military cuz you know, it's great that Britain has our back so we don't need a military, but I would like to actually request support regime and knowledge sharing from them. There we go. We now have our prestige goods for our food industries. And of course, that's increasing the birth rate as well.
Quinnine will allow us to colonize faster and improve our health system.
Now, I only picked up the local police force because there's an interest group that wanted it, but actually, I think I'm going to go over here to dedicated police force, even though I'm not a big fan of the principles that the British have taken for the power block. At the very least, plus 50 authority for each level of law enforcement is not the worst one out there. Unfortunately, they did actually also take the worst one out there. Now, people really do not like technocracy, but unfortunately, I just don't think we can get rid of it at this point. Our companies are too important to the country, so that's just kind of too bad. We'll go ahead and pick up a proportional taxation. See if we can save some of the lower classes a little bit of money so that they can spend it on actual products. There we go. It'll give us support for our government.
That's lovely. Use that to actually crank taxes up a little bit. Also, our new governor here is actually a Republican, which is a little bit cursed. I don't even know how you managed to get this guy into this role in the first place. As a good British colony, of course, we cannot have this guy in charge. And it is definitely not a ploy for me to try to get somebody who is a technocrat in charge. Fortunately, I don't think we have any of those either. I guess we're getting a market liberal. That's fine. We're also going to swap over to combination acts. Not because I have it out for the trade unions in particular, but instead as a little bit of reverse psychology because what I want is workers protections. But we don't really have the political will.
So I'm going to try to use the red scare whenever somebody becomes communist to see if combination acts is enough to force the population to get angry and therefore have them force the government to enact workers protections. Overall though, things are going pretty well for just being around 30 years into the game. We have a population of 5 and a half million with an annual pop growth of about 1.78%.
That is, of course, before accounting for immigration. Our standard of living is number one in the world right now.
And that's because our GDP per capita is in the number fifth place. Actually, the highest out of any country with more than a million population. Ooh, another gold rush. Well, that's quite nice.
Unfortunately, even if we do get people over here, they're going to be kind of unemployed. Yeah, we've kind of maxed out the population for the most part, but I'm kind of too afraid to turn off the edict because even if we have unemployment, people still seem to show up for some reason. Okay, I think we're going to get ourselves ready to politely tell Britain to please screw off. I would like to pay them less money. I am also preparing us to expand our own independent ability to trade. Building a whole bunch of ports. I'm building a whole bunch of these uh shipyards as well. And also steel frame buildings.
That's kind of important. Going to go ahead and actually turn that on. And for the next like 5 years, we're just going to build supply ships. Now, the one thing that has me a little puzzled here is I'm not actually too sure how you're supposed to unify Australia these days.
See, South Australia does not seem to actually turn on uh any colonial laws.
No colonial affairs. And they're the only ones with a colonial claim in this region. So, I'm actually not even allowed to have a border with them.
That's a bit of an issue. So, we're going to go ahead see if we can stake our own colonial claim and then with that establish a colony. Hello, Britain.
I would very much like to become a dominion and I think you should agree or things are going to get a little complicated. Thank you very much. At last, we can finally annex the last Australian colony. At this point, I don't think we get to become Australia until we actually own the entire thing, which is a little bit unfortunate, but anyway. So, I've gone ahead and done a couple of things here. Since we want to decouple from the British market, we are going to go ahead and build a whole bunch of the production goods that we need to continue building. We want to make sure that anything we need is going to be within our market. Most of the stuff is in fact in New South Wales.
then some of the explosives are going to be in Victoria. So, we are pretty much covered at this point. I've also allowed the investment pool to build up over time so that once we become independent, yes, we are going to [ __ ] our economy, but we will still have some in the backlog so that we can kind of invest our way out of our problems.
Unfortunately, this will take an obligation, but that is fine. Okay. Now, obviously, uh the economy just dropped by I think like 20%. So, we are not off to a good start. We are lacking a bunch of stuff and we have a lot of extra things that we also need to get rid of.
Of course, they'll go ahead and also set up trade to make that happen. Just put a protectionist in charge of the industrialists. We can actually also pass protectionism. But basically, yeah, the economy is going to be kind of cooked for the next little while. The theory here is that we can get our trade centers up super fast, allowing us to trade essentially everything that we traded with Britain. And just like that, the economy has mostly recovered. And we can actually form Australia as a dominion. We can have a few rivalries.
So, we'll just I I don't even know what's going on here, but we're going to rival everybody. We're going to use that to slightly decrease relations with Britain, just to the point where we can ask for independence, and hopefully they just say yes. I don't think they're going to, but I'm kind of hoping they do anyway. Okay, I'd say we have done it.
We've pretty much fixed the economy.
Everything's back to where it used to be. standard of living did take a little bit of a dip there, but very quickly recovered. The investment pool is massive. We're going to turn down a little bit of our taxation, even though people actually don't care that much. I would, however, like to get a few laws passed. So, here we are in the last piece of territory. Finally colonized.
We could continue colonizing uh even though it's not going to be worth too much except for maybe here. I think there's lead. Yeah, a little bit. Well, we do have some things in Papua. We'll give it a try. Now, what we're trying to do here is set up the oil company because that's going to give us another 10% migration attraction, which on top of everything isn't really all too much, but is going to be somewhat helpful at the very least. Now, our obligation to Britain is going to last for another couple of years, I think. Another four years. Okay. And then we can demand our independence. That'll be quite nice. But we don't exactly have to wait necessarily. We could go ahead and actually try to free the Dutch East Indies from Dutch control. I think that our plan here, as conniving as we would like to be, includes trying to liberate, in quotes, the colonies in Asia and put them under new protection. Whether or not I turn these into an actual protectorate or if I just create a power block and invite them to it, I'm not entirely sure yet. After all, if they're a protectorate, I'm not exploiting them.
I'm just I'm securing everybody's interest in the region. For us to get any of that done, though, we are going to have to build an actual navy. And we did just pick up gantry cranes, so that's not going to be too difficult.
Our new governor in charge is actually a utilitarian, which is perfect for us because we would like to go to compulsory primary school. Now that we have 40 million GDP, I'm going to start investing in universities. We're going to do another gamble with the request governor. Now, this guy has been uh pretty decent at his job. We do like that extraction throughput, but the mortality is starting to kind of not be worth it. And also, I have no more need of a utilitarian. So, going to get a prominent businessman in charge here.
This event pops up way too much, but it is funny every time it happens. Yeah, sure. Let's get the North Germans obsessed with opium. Why not? All right, Britain. Well, I'm not a big fan of the fact that you keep on trying to improve relations. So, we are going to expel your diplomats. We are going to do that.
And we're going to stake our claim on Eastern New Guinea as well, I think. And at this point, I think we're going to go to the British and say, "Hey, uh, we actually don't really want to be part of the British Empire anymore. I think it would be really cool if we could become independent. Actually, I think it would be cool at some point if we could have a stage between being a subject and being independent where you're basically independent. You don't pay anything to Britain. You're not forced to join the wars, but you can keep the same monarch kind of like, you know, how it is in real life. I guess that would just be a personal union then, wouldn't it? Which does exist in the game, but they kind of give you the ability to try and force personal unions to become regular subjects, and that gets a little bit complicated. Anyway, I don't like how I have to necessarily demand independence through war, but it is what it is. We can also try to sway a couple other countries to our side. See if we can get Dam to betray them. Zulu as well. Really enough, Spain doesn't even want Jialter.
So, uh, okay. You want an obligation?
There you go. Dutch will join if we liberate Lanfang. And if it's not too much to ask, I would actually like the rest of my colonial claim and maybe also Western New Guinea. It's not really imperialism cuz I'm not taking it from the people who have like lived there already. It's more like new management if you think about it. It's actually liberating the people that live there.
Same thing with Hawaii and maybe also Fiji. Okay, the British Navy is absolutely horrifying. I am not going to fight that, but I don't think they're going to make any landings either. We have gone ahead and actually taken all of the war goals that we set out to take. So, it should just be a matter of time. Finally, Britain has relented. We can enforce all of our goals, allowing us to become independent and a great power. Now, question is, uh, do we want to become a parliamentary republic or a presidential republic? I think we'll go ahead and keep the parliamentary republic. I don't know how I really feel about going with one or the other. I'm pretty sure a parliamentary republic allows your interest groups in government to be a little less strict.
The presidential republic kind of requires that you you try to include the head of state in the government. I think we're going to go with parliamentary republic. Now, that has absolutely tanked our authority. Interesting. Okay.
Of course, it doesn't matter too much because we are still a technocracy. So, it's not like we have voting. I have no plans to change off of this because it would absolutely [ __ ] our economy by removing one of our companies. So, we're just not going to touch that, but I will maybe pick up secret police. Now, what is our whole ideal? We would like to have a trade league. Our goal here is to try and have foreign investments in pretty much every country until we own as much as possible. We may or may not also be invading countries to maybe destabilize them, decrease their standard of living, and hopefully have their population move to Australia. Now, Ching is probably going to very rapidly begin industrializing now that they're no longer broke and kind of dying. So, as they industrialize, I think we'd like to get a little piece of that in exchange for buying tea fromQing and paying them a very token amount of money each week. We can go ahead and get some investment rights. We would also love to have Japan in our power block. So, let's go ahead and do that. Little defensive pact would work for me. Everything is looking very beautiful in Australia. We have the highest standard of living by a fairly wide margin and we have the number one GDP per capita. I'm also now on low taxes to give people a whole bunch of money so that they can buy stuff and continue stimulating the economy. Since we're a great power, our interest payments are not that expensive anymore. and we're just going to make sure that we continue having our claim over all of Papua New Guinea. So, the question remains, what is our next plan here? And I think the answer is going to be intervening in the East Indies. We can't have a free Pacific trading block if all of the Pacific countries are currently being colonized. That simply won't do. So, we're going to go to the Netherlands and expel their diplomats because they are trying to improve relations with us and it's kind of annoying. We do want to pick up regulatory bodies. Of course, we are still population maxing. Okay, perfect.
Uh, we have exactly what we want. Was already trying to enact regulatory bodies. It was kind of taking a while.
So, we will go ahead and actually get that for free. Super important to eliminate dangerous working conditions.
That accounts for a pretty decent amount of our mortality. I think now I think we're interested in moving ourselves over to Lea. Unfortunately, nobody in the government supports it. This guy, he is 62. He's probably not going to die in the next like 10 years. So, we're going to go ahead and try to swap him out with the market liberal here. We're going to grant this guy leadership over the industrialists, and we're going to see if we can get that done. As you can imagine, the labor movements are not particularly happy about this. But, everyone's standard of living is pretty high, and we have low taxes, so they're probably not going to revolt, maybe.
There we go. Went ahead and actually rushed malaria prevention here, so we can actually go ahead and colonize stuff in the Pacific. Oh, yay. Another coup attempt. Let's go. Okay, we actually don't want this one. Let's see if we can negotiate with anybody to actually let us do this. Uh maybe the armed forces.
That is a big increase in the size of the army. You want me to get 55 arms industries? It's getting a little bit ridiculous. Maybe we can probably make the army larger, though. I think we're finally ready to make a little play for the Dutch East Indies. We'd like to liberate them as the altruistic people we are. And certainly not because I plan to bring them into my power block. Oh, also we are going to make sure that we get our claims naturally and then maybe we'll take a couple of things in the Pacific. The way I see it, taking these islands in the Pacific isn't really playing wide cuz it doesn't give me that much money. Now we have Lefair. I think we're going to get a big explosion in our investment pool. But of course, first everything is going to get privatized, so we'll let that happen.
Hold on. The heavenly kingdom has popped out. Oh boy. Okay, so China has fallen apart. Uh even though they did attempt to modernize. That's a little unfortunate. Okay. Well, all these governments in China, we are going to want to bring them into the power block if we can. All right, we can pick up another company. And I think the one we're going to want to pick up is the motor company. It's not going to be too profitable for now, but eventually when we get automotive industries, this thing is going to be busted. Especially since we have such a high standard of living, most of the population can actually afford cars. There we go. Isn't that nice? We get to have our rightful colonies in quotations. I mean new valued core territories of the Australian Republic while we can also go around and try to get the rest of the Indonesian countries into our power block. Seems for whatever reason that we have poor relations with everybody.
That's kind of odd. And they just give them their independence. I can't imagine why. Having a bit of an issue up in here in Japan. It's kind of a problem for us because we do have a couple of treaties we don't want to have broken. So, we do want to help him out here. And uh what do you know? That's uh that's crazy.
Willing to become a protectorate. Well, listen. It's it's not wide play if they ask me to help them in exchange for becoming a protectorate. I think that's different. How could we possibly refuse the request for help from our good friends in Japan? That would just be unkind of us. I think that would actually make us less chill. Well, there you have it. Our new friend in the Empire of Japan is our protectorate, but maybe it would be a little bit mean to turn them into a puppet. After all, it's not like they pay me or anything right now. So, puppeting them would maybe be a little bit too unchill. Haven't really had the opportunity to actually use this new mechanic. So, we're going to say, "Hey, you're going to allow us to invest or else." Thank you very much. All right, Korea. Yeah. See, the thing is, um, I think we're actually going to want to maybe force you to open your borders here. Yeah, maybe a little open market.
Maybe a bit of a regime change as well.
There we go. They back down. So, now they have free trade. They also have a parliamentary republic with technocracy, which is super funny. Wondering actually if I can just go ahead and purchase the rest of these islands from my subjects and block members. There we go. We've made our way into Korea a little bit. We can now invest in them as well. Right.
All right, I might have also forgotten to mention that I actually did manage to grab the automotive companies. So, we are getting that done. We also have the ability to get another one of our principles. And the first one we would like to pick up is companies cuz we can get another extra company. Slowly but surely, the Pacific Union is growing and it is taking every ounce of my willpower to not simply annex all of these countries. it would be really cheap and easy to do so. But no, I will stay true to my goal and not do I imperialism.
Doing this whole imperialism but not really imperialism thing is interesting in its own right because yeah, I absolutely could invade and annex every single country in Indonesia and it would not be particularly difficult. Or instead, we can just fund proxy wars. We can just send people military aid to help fight their civil wars. And then I don't have to deal with putting down rebellions and we get a bunch of population growth. Also, I actually am going to puppet Japan, but maybe only Japan. We don't want to lose the plot too much here. We'll grant them investment rights. There we go. Korea's now in the market as well. I don't think it's ever going to be possible for us to bring the heavenly kingdom into our actual power block. Even though we can invest in them a whole bunch, it's probably not going to make that big of a difference. We already own like 10% of their economy. So, I think we're going to come up with a new strategy here.
We're going to withdraw from this treaty. And since we're not taking that much, I'm actually fine with expelling diplomats here. Hold on a second here, Portugal. You don't just waltz into another man's sphere of influence. I think we might have to uh liberate the Sunda Islands from Portugal in exchange for that. I think that's only fair. This next mandate, of course, will pick up freedom of movement. While this war is simmering in the background, I think we're also going to try and liberate the Philippines. And since I have no infamy, I might as well do a couple of things.
We'll just take a couple of our colonial claims here. We'll also take a regime change in the Philippines. And we'll enforce investment rights as well. Kind of forgot that we can just do like a full blockade of the Philippines. This next mandate, we're going to pick up freedom of movement number two, so we can actually increase the mass migration attraction. There we go. We have reached a full 100% blockade. Nothing gets in or out of the Philippines without our permission except for supply. It seems supply does actually get in and out of the Philippines. Okay, I'm actually just kind of stupid. I realized that if blockades don't actually stop men or supplies from entering the battlefield, then we might as well just send more troops. Oh, also, uh I've just now realized it would be a very good idea for us to subsidize the ports and also probably upgrade them. And we need to subsidize the shipyards as well because if these guys are not producing at maximum speed, then we cannot produce the things we need at maximum speed. I wanted to avoid having to send the entire army in, but you know, escalations happen. It is what it is. We do have a new mandate. We're going to continue with our freedom of movement.
Well, that war certainly took longer than I was hoping it would, but that's fine. Now, the Philippines don't like me, but I will guarantee their independence. Japan is also in a pretty significant amount of debt, so I'm thinking I'm just going to buy some of their islands off them. I am way overpaying for these islands, but that's okay. Now, the Heavenly Kingdom is falling into revolt after revolt after revolt, and I'm not a big fan of this because I would like to split them into pieces, but that's not a very easy thing to do. We do kind of need to get ourselves involved in Indo-China, North, and South India. So, I sent my navy over to do a little bit of diplomacy over here. You know, thinking about it, it's a little bit weird that we're allowed to unlock sea plane tenders before we actually have the ability to get planes.
I feel like this tech should be moved.
Maybe maybe it should be part of military aviation. Actually, that's what I'm thinking. Okay, the heavenly kingdom has just finished one revolt and now they're about to have a socialist movement. So, I think at this point, uh, we're just going to go ahead and split them into seven pieces. Becoming increasingly clear that the game is not really built around playing tall. We're kind of forced to do naval invasions of the heavenly kingdom, even though we do have military access from our friends over here in China. We're simply not allowed to perform invasions across the border. Even though they are allowing me to do so, I forgot to ask the game if I was allowed to do this. And the game says no. So, that might make things a little bit more difficult. What I had in mind is that I would move my troops into China and then I would do a land invasion from the north to make my life a lot easier. But I think because we don't actually own any land in China because we're being so nice and not invading people, we aren't allowed to amass troops on the border and then walk through. Well, fortunately, our blockade of the heavenly kingdom is working because they are now in default. That is good to see. Oh, and they're about to have a socialist revolt, which will make my life a little bit easier. Okay, I can work with that. There we go. We've made our way into southern China. For some reason, their capital is in Sichuan or Nunan. I don't know why, but I don't think we'll need more than maybe an army and the Marines to deal with this. There we go. We've exploded the heavenly kingdom. Very nice. Their capital's been cut off from the rest of the country.
It's kind of cooked for them at this point. I did take a treaty port just for fun, even though I don't think it's going to do anything. Bro, what is even happening anymore? Why is Vali taking stuff from my subject? Or I mean my uh my block member. Anyway, we can pick up our final company here. I don't even know what to pick up at this point. Uh we could actually use a clothing company. I think that's one of the few things we don't actually produce that much of. It's a lot of fun to uh enforce investment rights in a country that has I think gone bankrupt. Maybe they aren't bankrupt. I have no idea how, but okay.
Anyway, since a bunch of these countries in China are now selling off their industries, my capitalists get to buy them up. And now my reinvestment is 1.5 million per week. The one thing I think is actually going to be a limiting factor for us as our tall playthrough in Australia is the fact that we're going to run out of places to build construction sectors. I never really anticipated that my block members would declare war on my other block members. I don't know why. I just kind of assumed it would never happen, but it seems like I'm just going to have to intervene. So, Beton, uh, if you're willing to become a subject, I'll protect you against Java.
I think you should probably back down.
Thank you. All right. Well, with the game starting to lag a little bit at this point, it is 1914 after all, I think it's probably a good enough place to call it quits for today. Mostly because it is becoming increasingly tedious to continue with this playthrough. So, playing tall, not really conquering too much territory, but owning a bunch of stuff. Is it possible? Yes. Is it viable as in a reasonably decent strategy in this game?
Not really. Sure, we did get up to the number one GDP. We are We're basically the number one standard of living.
Haidor is like one island that's basically a tax haven. I don't even know how they got this standard of living.
GDP per capita out of countries that actually have economies. I'm going to say we're the number one spot basically.
And it's so close anyway that it doesn't really even matter. We did get to 58 million population in Australia, which I think is fairly impressive. Almost half the population and almost half the GDP is in New South Wales. It does make sense. I did kind of minmax this one state. Now, besides having the number one GDP, we do also have an enormous amount of GDP ownership. This is the real stat when it comes to how much we're winning in this campaign. We own 62% of the Japanese economy, which is equal to 86 million GDP. We also own half of Java for 35 million GDP. Our investments from before we became independent in Great Britain are still kicking. Uh we also own half of the Fenan clique which is basically Manuria. Owning half of the economies in Asia is kind of our strategy here and it has been working quite well. The power block is pretty big at this point and kind of unwieldy.
There's so many countries in here.
Sometimes they fight each other. Some of them just decide to break the treaties for some reason or another. But most of them have stayed in here for the most part which is nice. Uh we did of course pick up external trade, freedom of movement and companies. Speaking of which, ours take the top two spot with of course the motors company at the number one place. We knew that was going to happen. Automotive industries are simply a little too good. I think if we check out the market here, yeah, we are the number one exporter. That makes sense. We export mostly tools. We are the number one producer of course and then also for groceries as well. we produce more than uh maybe actually the entire rest of the world combined. That might be the case, especially if you consider that I think all of the groceries produced in Japan are actually owned by my companies. I'm a little surprised that we actually produce the most oil. Never even realized that Australia had that much oil. Turns out there's a lot in New Guinea. Who knew?
That being said, thank you very much for watching today's video. It is a little bit of a weirder one. If you want to see more Victoria 3 videos like this where I do something a little unorthodox, not really minmaxing to be the strongest, biggest boy country on the planet, then let me know. And in particular, if you have any interesting ideas, something that might be interesting narratively, then do let me know in the comments down below. For now, I hope you enjoyed watching today's video. If you did, leaving a like would be super appreciated. And if it's your first time here, subscribing wouldn't be a bad idea. That's it from me though and I hope you have a fantastic day. I'd like to give a big thank you to the patrons for this month. All of these wonderful people decide to donate to the channel out of the kindness of their hearts and also for early access I imagine which they do get. But anybody paying more than a dollar is doing it for the love of the game. So I'd like to give a special shout out to Erica Alistister Coyle, Baby Cal, Borderline Allstar, Gallo, Orca, Mistgi, Luca, Becker, Male Sample, Nick Steffle, Princess Rhea, Cubroot, Smeariro, Tilman, Austinon, Ag Ferrero, Ben Matram, Colossal Cloud, Luke 78776, Quiet Guy, Rosset, Corval, Ambient Cyan, James Levy, Stalin, DLRP, and Robert.
