Cameroon’s Demsa Horse Museum preserves Sahel heritageAdded:
The Demsa Host Museum is nestled in the heart of the Lamidat of Gashiga Demsa, a traditional historic chieftdom of the Fulani people. The unique museum continues to preserve the Sahel's equistian heritage housing over 1,200 unique artifacts. The reason behind the creation or the construction of this museum is to bring more tourist and strangers to come and visit the lame of dms and our museum to give um people the opportunity to discover what we also have to offer. The vision behind the museum is to show the transition or first of all the the important role that uh horses have played throughout time throughout history uh meaning from uh pre-colonial era to nowadays.
>> In addition to the showcase of the history of horses, the museum's second major attraction is the collection of vintage automobiles. These mark the transition from the traditional horserawn carriage.
>> Among them is a Citron DS which was used as an official car in the 1950s. There's also the Beetle, the oldest car in the collection, as well as a Pujo 604, a Helum vehicle inherited from his father.
Finally, there is a Mercedes, a car used for official engagements due to its regal character. These are the museum's most important exhibits >> and visitors are captivated by the richness and diversity of the collections.
I am absolutely amazed because I have discovered vehicles that I used to only see in videos or on television. He also shared a wonderful story with us about the line of rulers of DSA from the first king right up to the present day. I sincerely believe that we don't talk about it enough. Even though it is a heritage that deserves to be celebrated more, we should know our history, know where we come from and where we are going.
Dems host Museum has stood the test of time and the director is planning to expand the facility into a key center of Sahelian culture. Sophia Machos GTN.
