[00:00:01]Actually, I'm going to go back 10 years ago when I wrote my first stage play.

[00:00:07]Okay, I wrote it as a fundraiser for my church.

[00:00:11]And so at the time we didn't have enough people in our church to bring this uh stage play forward.

[00:00:18]As the play sat back there, the church got bigger and bigger. And so my bishop brought out the play and said, "Now, Sister Tarrant, I think it's time we put this play on." So I said, "Yes, this is it. I get a chance to put it out."

[00:00:36]Is there an answer? Okay. Anyway.

[00:00:39]>> you tell me what the a little bit about what the play is about? Uh yes, it's about uh chaos that's going on all around the church as well as on the inside. And so with everything going on, this deacon in the church, he's not doing what he's supposed to do. So everybody's looking for an answer. And so at the end, Jesus is the answer.

[00:01:00]Okay. So you try to call out the deacons a little bit? Yeah, the deacons and everybody else that was around that church, too. The bench warmers and everybody else that was all that. Okay, that's great. So you're like the female Tyler Perry.

[00:01:14]>> I'm trying [laughter] I'm trying to get there.

[00:01:16]>> [applause] >> I'm trying to get there, believe me.

[00:01:18]Okay. I mean, that's impossible because Tyler Perry's played a female like 30 times. Okay.

[00:01:25]>> [applause] >> Well, everyone has to everyone has to start somewhere, right? Everyone has to start somewhere. So good for you. So at some point you meet the defendant and decide to hire him to record your play so you could sell DVDs and have it memorialized.

[00:01:39]>> Okay, tell me about that agreement.

[00:01:41]>> Okay, so not only record, he's supposed to give me a DVD.

[00:01:45]>> That's not true.

[00:01:45]>> And that Yes, it is, Fred.

[00:01:48]>> That is what we agreed to. Okay, so you can >> a DVD and from THE DVD YOUR HONOR, FROM THE DVD >> understands how the process works.

[00:01:59]>> other DVDs so I can sell at the play and also at a red carpet event that I lost sales on. I'm going to stop him right there. Is it just me or does it feel a little icky to be doing a church play for profit? That just feels a little weird to me.

[00:02:16]Okay, so why don't we start from the beginning? How do you know the defendant? Is he a church member as well?

[00:02:21]>> Oh god, no.

[00:02:24]This heathen? Hell no.

[00:02:34]I don't know with all these thefts.

[00:02:51]>> Yes, I do full multimedia, flyers, graphic design, and video. This is my third year uh in my business. This is only the only unhappy customer that I have. So what was the agreement? What was the price and what was what did he agree to do? Okay, the price was $450 and that was to uh shoot the uh video and give me a DVD. I mean, I don't believe her for 1 second because who uses DVDs anymore? Lady, we live in a modern age. Everything is digital.

[00:03:23]Okay, and do you agree to that? No, I don't agree to that.

[00:03:26]>> Well, was the price $450?

[00:03:28]>> I was hired to shoot the play and to provide me a medium where she can get a duplicated. So you were to record it for 450 and provide her with a way to make copies so she could sell >> uh duplicated and So what happened? Your honor, let me tell you. Who would work on video for 6 months? Tell me what happened. Take me back to the night of the play. You said that's when things got bad.

[00:03:54]>> of the play, Frederick came in like 30 minutes late. I actually came in 10 minutes late.

[00:04:00]>> No, it was 30 minutes late. My music videos, the whole thing. What? Had the play started?

[00:04:07]>> Yes.

[00:04:08]PROFESSIONAL, MIND YOU.

[00:04:11]SIR, YOU MISSED recording the first part of the >> the I missed the first part. They They were in a new They were in a new church. I knew the address, but it's not on like Google Map. You can't just put the address into Google Map like you would normally do.

[00:04:23]You have to understand, you missed the first 10 minutes of the play. That's That's inexcusable if your job is to record the play.

[00:04:30]>> I I don't have the I mean, I I wouldn't have excuse for that, but that's the reason that I missed it. It's not a really a great reason.

[00:04:36]>> [laughter] >> It's not. All right. Go ahead.

[00:04:38]>> It's not I I agree with that.

[00:04:39]>> And he closed down before the uh the play was over. He's supposed Wait, so he came late and left early?

[00:04:47]>> Yes, ma'am. Is that what you do when you go to church all the time? See, that's that's the thing though. I recorded the whole play. She's talking about that I missed the curtain call. That's professional. You know, sir.

[00:04:57]>> that she wanted the curtain call.

[00:04:59]>> a professional thing. It's a big play.

[00:05:01]It was over. So, when they turn on the lights and start cheering, you don't talk to anyone. You just pack up your stuff and leave.

[00:05:07]>> That's what he did. That's not And bro low-key Irish goodbye'd on his job.

[00:05:12]Brother, you're supposed to record the entire thing. I mean, not only did you miss the first 10 minutes, but you missed the curtain call.

[00:05:35]>> Okay, that's strike two. Mhm. He missed the curtain call. Uh well, professionals uh know that the play began at the beginning and it ends at the cur at the end of the curtain call. You see what I'm saying?

[00:05:48]What he actually recorded, was that at least good footage?

[00:05:52]>> no it was not. I'm I'm going to tell you now, my minister of music recorded better than he did. That is not true.

[00:05:58]>> And when he would pan in, it was jerky.

[00:06:02]It was jerky on the footage, and there was some sometimes the heads was cut off on his footage. This is not the DVD.

[00:06:08]>> It's It's only one time the head was cut off because >> No, no friend.

[00:06:16]They didn't have everybody for the rehearsal, so I come to the play. They got somebody run from the back that's at the bottom of the stage. The play was only supposed to be on the stage.

[00:06:25]>> a copy of the DVD, ma'am?

[00:06:26]>> Uh yes.

[00:06:27]>> Okay, let's take a look. Let's take a look at the footage.

[00:06:31]Out of focus.

[00:06:35]I mean, I just can't get over the three audience members whose heads are in the I also [laughter] mentioned that.

[00:06:42]I was saying in the movie theater. Dude, why did you record this on a freaking baked potato? Plain, no sour cream, no bacon, no cheese, no salt, just a freaking stale potato. You'd be better off shooting this with a Nokia flip phone.

[00:06:59]I can't stop That's how it was set up.

[00:07:01]>> This looks kind of like one of those bootleg DVDs you buy off the street.

[00:07:06]>> Where someone's sitting in the movie theater recording in the back. So, what happened? You You get the footage, what's the problem after that?

[00:07:13]>> Every DVD that he tried to present to me had something wrong with it.

[00:07:18]>> Okay, and the problem was it wasn't a complete DVD at that time?

[00:07:22]>> It was, but it was movie was separate. I don't know what to call it.

[00:07:25]>> you get the footage that you missed to include on the DVD? That's the footage we just seen that her minister shot.

[00:07:31]>> it. And she agreed that we would use that beginning of the footage >> That's not it. for that time that I missed. You pieced it together, so you piecemealed the play together using various other people's footage that you missed.

[00:07:45]Professional. And what is your reason for not refunding? Uh my main reason is uh she's pretty much new, so she didn't understand the process of everything.

[00:07:54]And then [laughter] and then No.

[00:07:57]And then in the in the midst in the midst of everything, she started trying to leave little side threat to my voicemail and saying this that and third saying she got people watching me.

[00:08:05]>> going to bring him to court because he was not giving me what we agreed to.

[00:08:09]>> I'm just going to say it. You don't deserve being paid for your Frankenstein-looking video tape, okay? Bottom line, you didn't do the job. So what was the ultimate problem with the DVD? It would play, it would freeze, it was the video, people were separate. I don't know what you call that. I call them glitches, okay? And tell me about the voicemail No, you don't. You never called me. I invited him to come over to >> voicemail you say she left you. Did you bring that with you?

[00:08:35]>> Uh yes. Yes.

[00:08:35]>> I invited him to come over to watch the DVD. He never would. Okay, Fred, the game that you're trying to play.

[00:08:43]Uh I know everything about you. And how would you like for somebody to treat your mother or your wife like this? But that's okay. You've done it. You've been watched. I know everything about you, so in court I will see you. I had to keep up with him. He was running. He wouldn't answer my phone.

[00:09:01]>> Is it just me or is she perfectly valid in saying all of that? I mean, she didn't even really do any kind of threats or anything like that other than just saying I'm going to take you to court, which she had every right to. Bro, you were dodging her like Donald Trump dodged the draft. I mean, next thing you know, this dude's going to say I had bone spurs. That's why I was late.

[00:09:21]I respond every call and text until you got the threat.

[00:09:26]>> Me. [laughter] Did you bring THAT WITH HIM?

[00:09:30]>> [cheering] >> ME.

[00:09:31]>> [applause] >> OKAY. ALL RIGHT.

[00:09:34]MR. BURNHAM, you should have been there early enough to catch it from the very beginning. She shouldn't have to pay you for your services when she had to piecemeal the DVD together to put it together in the first place because you came in late and you left early. And how much in sales did you lose on this, Ms. Tarrant? I'm going to say $100. I'm going to order you, sir, to return $450 and refund the plaintiff on the amount that she paid you for the DVD and also $100 in loss of DVD sales. So, I'm going to order you to pay the plaintiff a total of $550 plus court costs and refund, okay?

[00:10:10]>> That's it. Thank you, >> [applause] >> Your Honor. Period. I 100% agree with that judgment. The dude didn't even do his job. Even just missing the first 10 minutes alone, he shouldn't have gotten paid at all. I mean, the dude should have just given her her money back because now it's on television that he sucks at his job. That's worse than any other kind of review. What do you guys think about this? Do you think that he had every right to keep the payment? And do you think that he did a sufficiently good job? And also, side note, how do you guys feel about her selling these DVDs for [music] profit when it's a church play? That still feels like it to me, but you know what?
