A special weather statement indicates that storm conditions are just below severe thunderstorm warning criteria, typically with winds gusting around 45 mph, as opposed to severe thunderstorm warnings which require winds of 58 mph or higher. Weather forecasters use radar technology, lightning detection systems, and live cameras to monitor storm development and provide real-time updates to communities, helping residents understand when severe weather is approaching and what precautions to take.

Heat up here.
All right, good morning everyone. Well, I got enough people on here this morning asking some questions, so I thought I'd jump on here trying to get my forecast together for the day. But we've got showers and thunderstorms rolling their way on through already this morning.
Just double checking and make sure with uh we are we are giving you the source that I thought I'm giving you and make sure that we are live and broadcasting online. I'm going to throw a quick little uh just if you give me a second, I'm going to throw a quick little uh alert to folks who have the East Tennessee weather app so they know to join the broadcast here this morning.
Again, we're not going to stay on for a terribly long time. Uh oh, there it goes. Uh anyways, and so but we do have a couple of special weather statements.
Somebody was asking about a what is a special weather statement? Uh a special weather statement just means that criteria is just under severe thunderstorm warning criteria. So winds typically gusting to about 45 miles hour. Remember winds upwards of 80 miles, excuse me, 59 miles per 58 miles per hour anyways will indicate a severe thunderstorm warning. Uh we also have uh an incredible lightning show taking on taking place out there already this morning as well. That's a live look in downtown Clinton here. And again, it is rocking and rolling. That's what a lot of you are saying here this morning. Uh we definitely need the rain, but it is definitely going to be a light show uh here this morning. Look at that uh live look there. You can catch these live cameras, by the way, and a live radar with the interactive radar using the East Tennessee weather app. So, don't forget to scan that. It's going to be uh if you uh just go to your app store and search East Tennessee weather, you'll be able to download the app and track these storms with me. So again, let's just walk you through the radar here for a second. I'll just pull this into uh the current time.
And we've got a special weather statement now for parts of Scott County, Anderson, and Campbell County. This runs until 4:45. So you can see really how the uh the radar is really lightening up there across parts of Oakidge. So heads up Oakidge, you're going to get some pretty heavy rainfall here in just a little bit. Same with you folks in Clinton. Obviously, we saw it with the camera from Clinton. And let's see if I can't pull that camera up for you here uh for just a second because it'd be cool to get that up there, huh? Uh anyways. Well, we'll worry about that in a second. But anyways, all right. So, we've got some pretty good showers and thunderstorms basically from Tri Cities all the way through Union County, Jefferson, Gringanger County, stretching down to Morgan County, and Cumberland County. Special weather statement continues at this hour for places like Megs County. We've got McMen, Ray, we'll go Louden and also parts of Ron County that runs also until 4:45. And then for folks joining us across the southern valley and Cleveland, we've got a severe thunderstorm warning now for Bradley and excuse me, Hamilton County. So, a little bit of a stronger cell moving through that direction or through that area at this hour. And as we loop this over the last one hour, you can get an idea.
There's a lot of lightning showing up.
So you can see the lightning we've got uh just over the last hour 247 lightning strikes in this vantage point. Uh Sheena, no tornadoes are really expected with this one. Uh while you can never rule it out with any severe weather potential, especially west of the interstate, Interstate 75 where we do have a little bit more activity. Uh we are going to uh likely not to see that.
I think it's going to be rocking and rolling with some pretty good solid spring thunderstorms really to be honest with you. Uh it's going to produce some good solid steadier rainfall. Uh it's going to uh increase. I mean, the lightning is incredible right now. Here, let me send this push alert here real quick.
All right, let's see. So, if you have the East Tennessee weather app, you're going to get this push notification here in just a second. If you again don't have the app, make sure you go to your app store uh and search East Tennessee weather. It's a great tool. It'll keep you posted on all things severe weather potential. A lot of folks join me on social media and say, "I got you on social. I'm good witch." I'm like, "Yeah, but that doesn't actually social media is not always the say all beall as we all know, right?" All right, here comes a push notification. Thanks for tuning in here this morning as well. And um got a lot of folks joining us this morning. So, all right. So, again, no major severe weather. couple severe special weather statements, a couple uh one severe thunderstorm warning. Uh that's about the extent of it so far.
So, let me just go through the chat and see if you all are saying anything that I need to answer here this morning.
Will there be any severe in Oakidge? We are starting to get rumbles of thunder and lightning and storms so far woken you up. Uh so, and you'll probably get lightning notifications. Just got a lightning notification with the app itself as well. uh again. So yeah, the potential is there basically uh east or excuse me, west of Interstate 75. That's where we've had that risk level uh for the day today uh where the Storm Prediction Center has that level one risk. You can see how storms are starting to fire up. But how we've got that level one, level two risk.
Actually, they've upgraded the plateau to a level two risk. So, a slight risk where parts of Knoxville, Blunt County, uh, Monroe County up into Campbell County in the green area is a I'll get this a little bit closer view so you can get a better idea who's what cities are involved there. Uh, all right. So, places like Kingston and Athens right on the cusp there of the uh of the number two, but look at all the lightning showing up. I mean, so when you look at tornado threat, the tornado threat's not really there. Back off to our west, we have a little bit of a tornado threat.
When you look at the wind threat, that's a little bit more of a uh uh of a concern as uh as we'll see some strong gusty winds and we also have uh the hail threat as well. So, that's what we're going to be watching here. And remember that this is just the this is round number one. We've got round number two coming through later on tonight and into tomorrow morning. And that also could pack a punch with some strong gusty winds, damaging winds. So, we may be doing this again 24 hours from right now. Uh, so you'll and another great tool because again, I sent that push notification. Thanks for tuning in, by the way, if you're just now opening up the East Tennessee weather app. Wanted to jump on here, do a quick little just a weather update. We've got a 24-hour channel running uh when I'm not updating. I'm just uh, you know, I'm sitting here forecasting the weather for the day. Storms are rolling on through.
Got a lot of folks joining and asking questions. All right, here we go.
Thunder and lightning from Maynardville.
You can get the Maynardville camera on the East Tennessee weather app as well, so you can track these storms, plus look at some of the live weather apps, live weather cams on the East Tennessee weather app. So, that's going to really help you out. Uh, don't be scared, Lillian. We're good. We're good. I promise you. Listen, I you'll hear a tone change. You'll you'll you'll see me get a little bit more excited. You'll see me get a little bit more serious if we have really anything to worry about.
And the answer this morning is no. Just a lot of lightning. I want to get that uh well, I'm going to get this up here for you.
We're going to just do something on the fly because we Well, I want to get this camera up because we've got some pretty good lightning showing up. There we go.
Look at that. So, we'll get this up for you here. That's a live look in downtown Clinton, Anderson County this morning.
That's one of the many live East Tennessee weather cameras that we have available for you to help you navigate some of these storms in person that I can show on TV as well.
That's a great tool. Let's see here.
Let's see if I can't get make that go.
There we go. So, that's downtown Clinton. Uh, I'll take a couple other views. So, we've got a lot of cameras to choose from. See if we see any other lightning showing up. We'll probably see quite a bit from here. This is going to be Fort Lden Dam. So, I would imagine that we probably see the skies lightening up from that vantage point.
I don't see it too much so far.
Let's see. There won't be any tornadoes, will there? No, not really. Just some strong gusty winds. Same. I doubt I'll be going to back to sleep now. I ain't going back to sleep, that's for sure.
We're going to get ready for the day.
Get ready for the show. Remember, I do do a live weather update at 7:30 in the morning.
um called Wake Up with Witcher. Just woke up from the storm. Good morning, Edwin. How are you this morning?
Special weather statements. Hopefully, I answered that question for you already.
But, uh again, a special weather statement by the National Weather Service just means that the storms are under severe weather criteria. You'll get special weather statements. They have now canled the severe thunderstorm warning for Blunt County. So, that has been allowed to expire. they've canceled it anyway. So, that's good news. Uh, other than that, just a couple of special weather statements ongoing here at this hour and that's about the extent of it. So, it is going to rock and roll.
How's West Knoxville? I have to work at 7:00. It's going to be, if you were with me on the broadcast at all yesterday, if you tune in to any of my weather updates on the app as well. I I talk about these kind of things and I do give a one minute with Witcher on the app and I also give a a long extended forecast.
So, if you ever really want to know a little bit more, always click on the full forecast. Otherwise, if you're just in a hurry, the one minute with Witcher will get you everything that you need to know. But yeah, uh it's probably going to be stormy now. I think the rain's going to be slowly coming into to an end uh as we get into the 7:00 hour. So, it's 4:20 right now.
Uh we still have more storms back off to our west in Nashville. Let me let me take the take a wider view here for you for a second and we'll take a look at the national radar. Uh let's see.
National US radar. So, you can see really what's going on. So that's that's what we still have left to come through, right? So we still have quite a bit of activity back towards uh get between Nashville and Cookville. We still have a little bit more. So once that comes on through, uh so here's a futurecast of two hours, by the way. This will give you a good idea of uh and you can get this on the app as well. So when you click on the interactive radar, you'll get a futurecast of two hours. So you get past two hours, current, and then a futurecast of two hours. So there's your two-hour futurecast, right? Uh so this takes us all the way through 6 6:20 and so we've got a long ways to go. This is going to be with us through the morning rush hour, but as we get into the 10 to noon hour today, that's when the storms start to fade away.
We'll see some sunshine this afternoon.
And then we'll be tracking storm number two that comes through later on this evening.
Let's get back to the national radar here just so you can get an idea of uh what's going on there, what's coming our way.
Uh we didn't get any storms. We got a little rain for about five minutes.
That's it so far, my friends. So far, but I would imagine that you probably get uh just a little bit more raining hard right now in North Clinton. Thank you so much. We're getting that thunder lightning in Granger County.
Uh WB, good morning.
Good morning. Are we neighbors?
Plains has a good bit of lightning right now and some on andoff rain. So, we're going to uh get quite a bit of rainfall.
Okay, here we go. Now, we're trying to catch up to the chat. Happy for the rain. Not so much for the wind. Yeah, strong gusty winds are going to be associated with this. How far? Let's see. How will the how will it be for West Knoxville Farragate area? Alex, good morning. Uh same as everybody else really. So, what you see is what you get on the map uh on the radar there.
Everybody has a chance for maybe a couple of strong thunderstorms, maybe a couple special weather statements.
Either way, it's going to rock and roll, right? Rock and it can it can rock and roll without getting severe weather. Uh here the thunder rocking and rolling right now at the studio.
Uh no, no, no, no. Don't let your guard down though because we still have uh some, as you can see on the map, let me just pause this here for a second.
We still have severe thunderstorm warnings uh lining up there with this storm uh just between Cookville and Nashville. So, these are still going to weaken, but these storms are packing a punch. Uh let's see. Uh they're not moving anywhere into our area so far.
So, but we do have a uh severe thunderstorm warning now for Warren County and also Dicab and Smith. And so it's getting close to our area as possible or potential severe weather, but uh no severe weather there so in our area so far.
Pretty decent lightning show Morristown.
Yeah, got some hail in Decar. All right, thanks so much, Chris. I appreciate you.
Morning, Brian. What a storm so far.
Thundering right now in Strawberry Plains. And again, let's just switch that camera because I don't see a lot.
Oh, you see a little bit of lightning off in the distance. Well, here's downtown Clinton right now. So, remember we were talking about that one just a little bit ago.
It's rocking and rolling right now in downtown Clinton. So, uh if you're joining us from the Clinton community, that's what you're seeing.
Uh probably not until about 9 10 between probably after about 7:00, we'll start to see things start to slowly wind down.
I think we're going to have these storms hanging out with us more for the morning rush hour. Is it hailing? Could see some hail.
It could be uh could be uh seeing some hail for sure. We've got the potential for some hail. We've already had reports of hail back further to our west.
Anytime, Megan. If I'm in the studio and I see bad weather coming on through, I'll probably might as well jump on.
Morning, Joe. What time are you leaving for the airport there, buddy?
Now, don't be nervous, Ashley. You are good. You are good. Uh, there is actually no severe weather in our communities as of right now.
A heck of a lightning show, huh, Joe?
Morning, Ashley.
I do not, Jacqueline. I do not. But if you have a good location for a camera in Granger County, my goal is to have at least one camera in every county that I forecast for in East Tennessee. That's a lot of cameras. That's 30 cameras at least. Uh we're getting a couple new ones. I got some brand new ones over there at Norris Lake, which uh let's see, Norris Lake.
We're probably rocking and rolling Norris Lake. H no, maybe not. Yeah.
Let's see. Let's take a look at my Nor Lake cameras and see what they're looking like.
So, that's a live view right there.
That's uh that's going to be Stardust Marina.
Stardust Marina. So, let me move the camera over a little bit and that's a lightning show. So, we'll go to Stardust Marina and we'll move this camera so I can move every once in a while. We're working on 24-hour time lapses for these cameras to be available for you to see as well uh on the East Tennessee weather app. So, this is going to be pointing towards the This is basically going to be pointing towards um towards where the storms are going to be coming from.
There we go. Yeah, there we go. You can see the see the channel off in the distance there once the lightning comes on. So, that is a live look there from Anderson County and Stardust Marina there. All right. So yeah, if you have a place in your county you're interested in an East Tennessee weather camera, hit me up. info info@ eastnweather.co.
info eastnweather.com uh is going to be your best place to email me information. If you have a place for a camera, uh super easy.
They're 100% free to you. Uh it just allows us to be able to get these views uh for severe weather potential and also for just our daily views of some beautiful weather, right?
uh extreme lightning right now in Colefield. We've got uh let's go back to the radar here. Let's just come back to what's going on in our area and we'll loop this over the last 15 minutes for you.
There you go.
That's a 15minute loop. So, we've got some special weather statements that have been issued by the National Weather Service. So, special weather statement now has been issued for Monroe County.
Uh we've got a special weather statement for Lowden County that extends over into Ran back into Mags and Ray County as well as McMinn and stretching all the way down to the southern sections of Monroe. We've got Pulk County, Bradley County, as well as southern McMmen County. All in special weather statements that probably is going to be a good camera. Actually is going to be Woo! Look at that. That's lighting up like crazy. This is going to be a good camera. This is going to be KMV Monroe County Airport. Is that up in there? It is KMV Monroe County Airport. That's probably going to see some uh the camera's pointing the opposite direction of where the storms are coming from. I would imagine we'll get a pretty good lightning show coming up here in just a little bit from that camera.
We'll just leave those all on there.
There you can see all the cameras, right? You can see all the cameras. Uh, and if we see one that looks pretty cool, we'll take that full. How about that? That sounds like a good plan. Uh, it's storming right now in Dandridge.
Good morning, Robin. Hail at my house.
If you get any pictures, by the way, of any hail or any storm damage, god forbid, uh, we don't have any necessarily a lot of severe weather out there right now, but if we do get any severe storms, you can upload those photos through the East Tennessee weather app under submit a photo. So, make sure you go check that out.
Remember, the app gives you passcode and future radar of two hours. You'll get lightning data when lightning is within 15 miles of your house. Any watches and warnings or special weather statements will be issued right there to your cell phone as well. And the app is 100% free.
When will the thunder uh for Rocky Top Pass? Uh we're going to be with this for several more hours, you know. So it's what 4:28 this morning. I think we're going to be with this for another two or three more hours probably. Off and on, of course.
Good. Are you saying you feel good, Edwin? I hope you feel good. I feel pretty good.
Thanks, Amber. Storm pretty bad right now in Colefield. If you like what I do here this morning, uh I would appreciate you liking and sharing for community awareness. I meant to go live on Instagram. I wasn't live on Instagram, but anyways, if you want to like and share this live broadcast for community awareness, that'd be great. Uh we'll stay on for a little bit longer and then we'll probably go back and get my recordings done. But of course, got weather moving on through. Might as well stay with you, right? If it's impactful to you, it's impactful to me. That's what I say.
Up and hoping to get ready and venture out for work. There you go, Lisa. Good morning. I live in North Knoxville and I'm worried it'll cause severe wind damage. Uh we could see some some strong gusty winds, I think, as at this point of the game. Uh we're probably just going to see winds. There's my alarm clock to get up in the morning. Not really. That's a late alarm clock. Uh yeah, probably some strong gusty winds.
When will the Stardust Marina camera go live? Great question, Lee or Lance, excuse me. Uh, it should be going live.
Hopefully, I can get to it today. I think I got a little extra time to get that launched on the website and on the app itself. I'm trying to change the way it looks. Do you have the Lance? Do you have the app? Hopefully, you have the app. I'm trying to change the vantage point of how the cameras are viewed on the app versus the website because just a different uh different experience, right?
Thanks, Jessica. Good morning.
Uh, so I'm working on that, but hopefully I can get that camera on later on today. Excuse me.
Uh, for the storms that come through tonight. We've got two more cameras to launch on the East Tennessee weather app and on eastnather.com.
So, make sure you check that out as well.
Uhhuh. Let's see.
45 years of work that had the possibility of major impact from storms.
It's nice just to worry about my place now. Congratulations, PC PC Airbum.
Strong storms in Cot County. Thanks so much. I appreciate you. Again, you can see the radar. That's a 15minute radar loop. Got a couple of special weather statements. Really not that big of a deal so far. Good morning, Ruth. Do you have your dogs around today? Hey. Yeah, my dogs are sitting right over here.
Okay. You want you want them to make a quick guest appearance? Yeah. No, we don't have any severe weather. Hold on, Laura.
There's the doggies.
I didn't have my other microphone on there, Laura, so I couldn't talk. You couldn't hear me. Uh, but there you go.
The doggies make an appearance uh live broadcast this morning. This thunder is crazy. Well, it's about time we got some pretty good thunder, you know, thunderstorms. It is springtime. It is literally the end of April, April 28th.
And uh well, we haven't had a lot of severe weather. Any tornadoes west of us last night? Uh yeah, we've got uh let's see, Dwayne, hold on. We had lots of severe weather last night.
Um see if I can't get this up for you.
Lot of severe weather last night. Let's see what kind of severe weather we did actually get.
Got a couple tornadoes. Let's see.
Really didn't get a ton.
Um, let's see if I can get my storm reports up. There we go.
There's some LSRs from There you go.
There's your storm reports from the storm. So, this is all the storm reports from the storms that hit uh hit last night. So, you can see all the tornado reports.
So, let's see. Uh see two tornado reports there.
So those tornado reports seem to be this the 26th. That should be right. But oh yeah those are those are okay here.
Let's do last 24 hours. There you go.
Those are the storm reports from the last 24 hours.
Uh let's see if we can't just get.
There you go. There's there's the tornado reports from yesterday. So, last 24 hours, only two tornado reports actually, believe it or not. Uh right over there in Arkansas and we had one in Illinois.
That's all we had over the last 24 hours. But if you look at over the last 48 hours, it's been it's been crazy. We had a lot more going on uh in parts of Illinois over into Oklahoma and Kansas. And if you look at the last 72 hours, a lot more. Uh, and if you look over the last 96 hours, I don't know if we'll go back that far.
It won't go back that far.
It only goes back to 72 hours. So anyways, that's what we had uh last 20 last couple of days there. Dwayne for us. No uh no storm reports so far, so that's good news. I had a couple up into Kentucky. Same hail being reported in Harling County, Kentucky here early this morning.
Rocking and rolling in Morristown this morning. Let's now here we go. Now we're going to get uh Which camera should we choose?
There we go. Now we're getting some pretty good storms off in the distance.
Watch this camera now. Bottom right hand side of the screen.
So for those of you that may be joining this morning and have not decided, and that's okay. I'm not faulting anybody.
Have not decided to download the East Tennessee weather app.
I'm going to throw a link here into the chat. I just threw it into the chat.
Make sure you click on that link right there and uh that'll take you to your app store and uh you'll be able to download the app. It's pouring right here at the station. At the station at my house it is pouring I mean, I really think that we're just looking at some good solid heavy rain here this morning. Good lightning show.
There you go. Look at all the lightning back in the distance. You see that?
Lost my mouse here. There it is.
There you go, Amelia. Amelia has the app.
Hail in Harden Valley. Let's see if you've all uh uploaded. Has anybody uploaded any pictures uh through the East Tennessee weather app at all?
Let's see if you have.
No storm pictures.
no storm pictures as of right now, but uh if you get any storm pictures, if you get any hail, you want us to submit a picture, just go to the app and upload it to submit a photo. There's a link right there towards the bottom of the app. Thanks, Amelia. I appreciate you.
Rolling Thunder and downpour here at Bean Station woke me up.
But the good news is is no major severe weather. My brother told me to download your app because it helps him with his storm anxiety. So, here I am.
>> Thanks, Bailey.
Tell your brother.
>> Oh, I'm here to help him out.
It's actually Candace. Candace, good morning.
Then why do you have Amelia on there? I don't know. I can't know these things.
Everyone's handle's different. Everyone likes it differently, right? Lightning is wicked between Halls and Powell.
Absolutely stunning. Anybody get any good photos? Let me know. Again, no severe weather right now. Uh but let's see.
Got pretty good storms up towards Tri Cities. Again, we do have some strong thunderstorms back to our west towards Middle Tennessee. So, this is not over yet. You can see we have a couple one, two, three, three severe thunderstorm warnings right now in Nashville or coming out of Middle Tennessee anyway.
So, I'll show you the Nashville radar.
And so, that's what we still have coming our way. And so, you can see the skies are lightening up and uh we've got a lot of a lot to go ahead of us.
A lot more to uh to deal with here for the morning rush hour. That's why I said yesterday I said it's going to be soggy and slow going for the morning rush hour. No doubt about that. And I think that's going to be the case here this morning.
Oh yeah, there you go. It uh it didn't show up as a storm report, I didn't think.
Maybe it didn't get reported.
Not showing up there. Lot of lot of damaging winds showing up there out of Nashville from Lawrence to uh there's Williams County, Williamson County, severe thunderstorms.
Got Dixon County, severe thunderstorms as well. So uh lots of activity back to our west. Just a couple special weather statements as it stands right now.
Yeah, you're not wrong there. Uh it is.
So there it is. Uh, it is it's it's electrifying for sure.
Thank you, Bailey.
Thanks, Brian. Of course, if anybody's getting ready to travel, uh, it's going to be, uh, pretty na, you know, it's going to be it's going to be slow going on the interstate. Watch out for a lot of ponding puddling. And listen, we haven't had a lot of rain recently as well. So with a lot of rain, you know, the you get a lot of oil on the interstates and the b and the roads. And so when you get a lot of rain like this, it actually can make the roads pretty slick. Uh and we typically get a lot of uh a lot of accidents uh not just because of the rain, but when we haven't had a lot of rain for a long time because of the oil mixing or rather not mixing uh with the uh with the with the oil, the water and the oil not mixing together obviously.
And so with that, you can get some slick roads. So something to kind of keep in mind here this morning.
So again, a lot more storms coming in from the west northwest. Those are going to be settling on in. So this storm is going to be with us for quite some time.
Uh might as well take you through a little bit of a forecast here. So I'll just keep that camera up on the screen.
We'll go through a little forecasting.
We're just going to do this on the fly.
Like I said, I was trying to get my forecast together here this morning for you. and uh and decided just to jump on.
So remember that we are under that risk for severe storms today. So here's the bis big risk level for today and then there's tomorrow. Okay, so for today we are going to continue that risk for strong or severe thunderstorms as the Storm Prediction Center has put us under that risk. Now, let me come back to the current time on this uh futurecast.
And here's what's going on out there this morning, more or less, obviously.
And we'll run you through. So, we're going to get those showers and thunderstorms. Here's your futurecast taking us all the way through. Uh let me shrink this a little bit so that's not in the way of folks. There you go. We'll keep it in North Carolina, that camera.
Oh, no. Guess that camera just disconnected. Let's go to a different camera.
Go to downtown Clinton.
That's downtown Clinton, by the way. All right. So, here's your futurecast model.
We're just kind of going through time.
There's six o'clock this morning. Uh there's 7:00. So, again, from now through 7:00, we're likely to get some pretty good showers and pretty good thunderstorms and severe weather potentials with us here this morning.
And that's going to run all and then as we get to the 8 9 10 noon hour, everything comes to an end, right? Okay.
But it's not over because watch this.
Now we're going to go. Okay. So there's noon today and every all day long it's going to be quiet after about 8 to 10. It's going to be nice and quiet. But here comes round number two. Round number two is going to be very similar. So there's midnight tonight. So we're not going to probably get a lot of sleep tonight. If you got woken up early this morning, we're likely not to get a lot of sleep here tonight. Again, if you like what I'm doing right now, please like and share this for community awareness. would really help things out uh to help pass along the word. Even though we don't have a lot of severe weather, per se, we have impactful weather here this morning.
So, that's midnight tonight and we'll take you through tomorrow morning.
There's two of 3:00. That low pressure system comes on through. So, tonight's storms are going to be a little bit earlier, but again, could pack a punch with strong, gusty, damaging winds, the potential for hail, maybe even some larger hail tonight. Uh and then uh we are also looking at uh the potential for and you know listen can't rule out an isolated tornado tonight as well. So we're going to be a little bit closer to that low pressure system. Uh let me just show you the big picture. We'll just go through a quick forecast for you.
So okay, so there's the big picture.
That's what's going on here for the day today. Tomorrow the storm system system shifts. Let me show you the big picture.
See if I can not all of this is going to be updated here. There we go. There's this morning storm. So let me go back here. Let's pause this.
There you go.
So, that's what's going on this morning.
Well, that's as of 8 o'clock this morning.
That's Wednesday morning.
I told you the show wasn't ready.
Let's um All right, there we go.
So, here's your futurecast for the next 24 hours basically. Ready? Here we go.
There's your futurecast. Storm system one comes through this morning. Uh, storm system 2, here it comes. That's going to come racing on in. So, most of the today's quiet. Storm system 2 comes on through. And there it is. That's going to pack a punch here as we get into the evening and overnight hours.
Uh, as you step outside this morning, there's our risk level. Again, I'm going to walk you through the local futurecast. This takes into account what's going on out there this morning.
Uh, so showers and thunderstorms blast their way on through, start to quiet down after about 8 or 9:00 this morning.
And then as we head into the evening and overnight hours, so about midnight tonight, here comes another round that's going to be uh kicking its way on through, bringing us some strong to severe thunderstorms. The potential anyways, let's see potentially some strong to severe thunderstorms. Woo, look at the lightning showing up there in downtown Clinton. Uh and then as we get through the day tomorrow, maybe a few lingering showers through about oh noon or so and then we should start to see improving weather conditions and rainfall amounts. Heavy rain over an inch of rain likely in most locations.
Uh those are that's our forecast for the night tonight. Let's see what's going on in the big picture. Uh remember back behind this whole system, we've got some cooler air that's going to settle on in.
And your 7-day forecast today is Tuesday. Okay, let's get the right 7-day forecast. Of course, these numbers have not been updated since I've not updated the forecast, but we're going to about 75 today and tomorrow.
Everybody gets showers and thunderstorms at some point of the game. Remember, percentages. I know I have a 100% chance of rain out there. Remember, that never tells the whole story. Timing, duration, intensity, and totals. Uh, and that's going to be the story tonight into tomorrow morning. But actually, most of Wednesday is probably going to be okay.
So, as I update the forecast later on, check back in. That 100% for tomorrow is likely going to be just after midnight tonight. So, I'll probably change that uh to maybe 20 to 30% chance of rain.
We're dry Thursday. Little bit of light rain possible Friday, Saturday as another little system swings its way on through. Let me shrink this here for you. Uh but notice the temperatures.
We're going to cool down for the upcoming weekend as that pocket of cooler air settles on in. And we've got a big festival going on uh for the upcoming weekend in Townsen. The Bigfoot Festival. Just a quick little forecast there for you. going about 66 or so on Saturday after morning lows in the 40s.
So, it is going to be a little bit on the on the the chillier side. All right, let's come back to the radar here.
It is rocking and rolling.
And uh as of right now, just a lot of lightning, no severe weather. Got one special weather statement showing up in Monroe County. Woo, that lightning is insane.
Now I know what you're talking about because now it's hitting my house and that lightning is insane this morning. I mean just in this vantage point right now we've got 20 40 lightning strikes.
So a lot of lightning showing up with this one.
Woo.
It's getting exciting around here. Are you expecting hail within the next hour?
I don't want to drive to the gym. If so, uh can't rule out hail. Let me just check in on some of the hail swaths uh for you. See how much hail we've actually seen.
And we really haven't had a lot of hail.
Uh who was that who said that?
Garage Jim Jin. I think that's who it was. Yeah, good morning. Uh we haven't really had a lot of hail. So, I think this is just going to be uh you know, torrential downpours. Uh, I think we're going to see some strong gusty winds, incredible lightning obviously showing up and I think that's really going to be the story here this morning. But can't rule out some hail. I just don't think that's that's the major player. Good morning, Monica. How are you?
Let's see. Is Hanland County getting thundering and lightning again? Again, really no major severe weather expected, but strong gusty winds and some good time springtime thunderstorms. You know, the bad part about it is is, you know, it's almost 5:00 in the morning. So, uh, kids are going off to school in a little bit. In a little bit. We got a couple hours, right? My kids usually get up here at about 6:00 or so. Got some strong gusty winds with uh with the storm here in Alcoa. Thanks, Aaron.
Appreciate you at uh it is pretty pretty intense out there this morning, isn't it, Mike?
Uh let's see if we can take another vantage point of a couple other cameras here.
Oh, there we go.
Here's a good one. So, this one's going to be coming in from Corington. So, this is one of the live cameras. This one will not be on the app and will not be online. This is actually a uh it's a um solar powder camera. So, I can't keep it live all the time. That's the show that we're getting over there in Corington.
Here's Fox Road Marina. This is probably going to be lighting up because it's I live near there.
Look at you early morning gym goers. I love this. Uh yeah, there is the possibility of some hail. Uh I think for the most part you're not you're going to be doing just fine. So I don't necessarily I don't anticipate uh any sort of severe hail. So I think you're good to go to the gym, but just know that you're going to have to contend with what's going on outside uh and the strong gusty winds as this line comes on through.
I mean, it is pouring outside. Woo! I wish I could take my camera outside and connect it. I could probably if I knew if I did, if I had everything set up right and take my camera outside, but I don't think you need me to go outside to show you what's going on. Has calmed a lot in Powell. That's good news.
Uh, I would say it has. Yeah, you're on the back side of this line, but remember there's another line coming on through.
Uh, as this line comes on through, I feel like I'm having to talk louder.
It's got a lot louder here in the studio.
Again, uh, if you wouldn't mind just liking and sharing this so other folks can jump in on the uh, on the live broadcast here this morning as we continue to talk about these storms.
Kodak. Whoa, buddy. What a storm. It's crazy.
So again, we don't have any severe weather right now. It is just going to be torrential downpours, incredible lightning.
I shall see you at midnight again tonight. I shall see you again, Ashley.
I might just fall asleep at work today.
I'm exhausted. Have a good day, my friend. I sure hope you have a good day.
Thanks, Jamie. I appreciate the report.
Power's out. All right, let's take a look at some power outages here.
So, we've got a few power outages. Let's stop that.
Excuse me. Uh, all right. So, 500 in without power in Morgan County. We got 100 without power in uh Ron County, Granger County.
What is that? Hancock County 2000. So, we've got some power outages showing up.
You're right.
That's all we have going on right now for power outages in East Tennessee so far.
But this is the kind of rain that we're seeing. I mean, some places have already received, let me re uh redo this. Some places have already already received a lot of rain. Uh so places just outside of Morgan County, you know, over an inch of rain so far.
This is Doppler estimated, of course. So you can see where some of the heavier showers have been over an inch of rain also in parts of northern Scott County.
Uh so where those lines are, this is rainfall over the last three hours, by the way. Uh rainfall over the last six hours kind of tells a story as well. And when you look at the uh rainfall rates with this system, rainfall rates, they'll just come into say we'll come into Knox County. So some of the rainfall rates with this so far, I mean, we're talking upwards of oops, you know, four 4 and a half inches per hour. So uh 5 inches per hour. So solid rain.
I mean, just incredibly heavy rain. So, this just moved over the interstate.
Uh, so anybody has travel plans on the interstate? I guess I can pull up the interstate for you.
Trying to find a good camera for you.
All right, here we go.
So that is a live look there at 40 and Pellissippi Parkway from the T Dot Smartway cameras and you can see all the standing water on the road. So this is what we're going to have to contend with here this morning.
That's a 40 and Cedar Bluff in central Knox County.
Uh but no accents to speak of.
Got heavy rain down in Chattanooga.
So, we still have that special weather statement until 5 o'clock this morning for Monroe, McMmin, and P count counties over into Cherokee, North Carolina. Uh, the storms don't look as bad there, but I'm not on the right radar. So, let me switch over to the right radar. There's the radar uh that shows a little bit more. That's uh the radar coming out of the hightop radar. So, this is all Look at all that's back to our west. I mean, that all still has to come through. So, that's the hightop radar. Here's the uh Nashville radar and again kind of showing the same thing. So we still have a lot more to uh to move through here before the morning is over before we start to see things quiet down. So it is going to be rocking and rolling I would imagine here for several more hours.
So keep that in mind as you travel out and about. Right.
Morning Alison. How are you this morning?
Uh, no pictures submitted so far with the East Tennessee weather app, but it's night time. I get it, right? I get it. It's rocking in Kingston.
Oh, well, now my kids are in bed with my wife. So, good morning, Janelle. Good morning, Kaden. What a light show. It's incredible. Uh, it really is incredible.
So, Kaden, you're not supposed to be up until for another hour, buddy. Same with Janelle. You're not supposed to be up for another hour.
Woke up to the thunder. Went straight to the app. Thank you very much. Now on Facebook to see the comments. Yeah, Ellen, I wish I had uh comments on the app itself.
Uh unfortunately, we uh you just can't comment there. That'd be a great little update, wouldn't it? But you got to go to social media to be able to comment, and I do appreciate you joining.
Yeah, Cassie, good morning. Uh I don't know. You know, we'll be I'll be curious to see what the schools do. We are in TECAPS, obviously. Um they've not I've not gotten a text message. They're probably going to hold off a little bit longer. It's uh it's only 5:00. The buses don't start running for about another hour or so.
Well, the bus drivers are up. Miss Elise, if you're joining us this morning, good morning. My kids bus driver. Uh but again, impactful weather.
No severe weather, but it's still going to be very impactful here this morning.
And it's not over yet because again, we still have some strong thunderstorms just to the west of us uh over towards between Nashville and Cookville.
Nashville and and and the Cumberland Plateau.
Get a different camera up here for you.
We've got 201 light lightning strikes uh currently from this vantage point.
And here we go. We'll be able to take um now that the storms have moved off to let's take a well that was electrifying. We'll take you down to Monroe County. That's KMV Monroe County Airport. Shout to Tom and any of the any of the general aviators that use this camera for aviation purposes.
I do have a generator. It's a uh GenerRack. I have a Generrack generator.
Good morning, Jess. How are you? We'll be back on with Wake Up with Witcher.
starting off. It's uh 7:30 this morning, by the way, if you want to tune in for an official forecast while you're at work as these storms come to an end because I'll really be diving into more of the storms that are coming through uh later on tonight. Although uh I will definitely still keep you posted on the forecast for the day today and tonight and tomorrow. remembering round number two comes through tonight and then we quiet down and then we'll start to cool down as we get into our Thursday, Friday, and the upcoming weekend. We're talking below average temperatures only in the in the 60s. And I will be at the Bigfoot Festival in Townsen, by the way, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Well, I won't be down there at 700 a.m., but I'll get down there as soon as I can, but we'll be down there till 4 p.m. I have to do the show and get everything up and running. But we will be in towns in We've partnered with the uh town of with Blunt County Partnership. Big shout out to all those folks, Tammy uh and Kim and everybody else that's associated with Blunt County Partnership. Uh and we're doing all the events. So like the Taste of Blunt County, we'll be doing uh I'll be forecasting for the balloon festival.
Uh we've got about 10 to 15 events that we'll be forecasting officially for and you'll see the forecast on all the East Tennessee weather platforms, but a lightning showing up there at KMV Monroe County Airport where it is currently 66°. By the way, these East Tennessee weather cameras as well, big shout out to my brother-in-law is now being able to get current temperatures uh on the uh on the on the cameras themselves. So, that's going to be great. And that's actually a current temperature 66 at KMNV, Monroe County Airport. Winds picking up right now in Dan. Thanks so much, Tyler. Appreciate you. Again, this first round comes on through. We still have another round that's likely to come on through here over the next couple of hours. I do think it's going to be really soggy and slowgoing for the morning rush hour.
Like the official morning rush hour.
Not me. I'm looking for my phone while I'm watching your broadcast on my phone.
Jill, I think you need to go back to sleep. That's like when that's like I I'll have an I'll have a pen behind my ear and be like, "Have you seen my pen anywhere? I'm looking for my pen."
Oh, sometimes sometimes it's just the lack of sleep or the busyiness of life, isn't it, Jill?
It's calming down right now in Union County. So, yeah, it's going to be calm now in Campbell County, Scott County, uh we'll go Fentress County. It's going to be much, much calmer. Even you folks in Morgan County, although heavy rain in Morgan County, uh Anderson County over to Granger and parts of central and northern Knox County is going to be nice and quiet or quieter anyways. Uh towards Hawkins, Hancock, and the Tri Cities area. Still rocking and rolling across the mountain counties. Uh we'll go Jefferson County over to and severe South Knoxville to Blunt County. All still rocking and rolling here this morning. 98 lightning strikes currently in this vantage point. Folks joining us from West Knoxville getting rocked and uh rocking and rolling towards say Harden Valley and Farragut down towards Maraveville, you know. So you can see how it's kind of a little bit hit and miss. Make sure I'm on the right radar here. I am currently on the right radar.
Okay. Uh down towards Madisonville, Athens. Uh, but notice we have special weather statements back to our west. So, as I take a look at the national radar, you can really see, let's go back to this radar. You can see we still have some stronger thunderstorms pushing their way through Cookville working their way back towards the Cumberland Plateau. So, now Cumberland County, you are now under a special weather statement until 5:30 Eastern Daylight Time, by the way. Uh, 5:30. So, it's 4:30 Eastern, uh, Central Daylight Time for you folks. Uh so special weather statement, strong gusty winds getting ready to work its way back along the Cumberland Plateau and we'll go down to the southern valley where places along Highway 24, Interstate 24, area got one severe thunderstorm warning for Franklin, Tennessee, also Lincoln, Tennessee. But uh we'll be watching those for you folks in Chattanooga.
Heavy rain moving its way towards Signal Mountain, Cleveland, Saudi Daisy, Bakewell, uh Dayton right there throughout the Squatch Valley. Uh it'll eventually works its way back over the I75 corridor. So again, it's going to be slow going this morning, my friends.
Slow going.
That's the big picture. And no severe thunderstorm reports or uh storm reports have been showing up uh here locally. That's uh the radar from Morristown giving us a better depiction towards the mountain counties.
All right. So, Goringville's Power is out this morning. Delivered milk in the dark this morning. Who would you deliver milk to? Like a like a milk truck.
Morning, William. How are you this morning? Dumping in Lenor City. Thanks, Lisa. Uh, good morning. Thanks for keeping us updated. Yeah, power is out in here Marville. Let's go back to power outages.
Some kind of power outages we have going on again.
So, uh, not showing up that vantage point. That doesn't necessarily mean that the computer hasn't caught up, but we've got some power outages already ongoing. I do think that's going to be the story here. Um, could see some power outages. Again, we've not, excuse me, not seen a lot of severe weather so far.
It felt like the paparazzi was outside trying to take our picture with all the flashes of light from lightning.
That's funny. I'll have to use that one down the road.
Do you remember who won the I Spy game when you worked at WB? I do not. That was a long time ago, my friend. I don't I don't I don't I actually don't even know what you're talking about to be honest with you. I play that game sometimes when I'm, you know, I'm on on social media. I spy with my little eye, you know, something blue. Oh, we haven't seen the blue sky for a long time.
Uh, no. Oh, no tornado threat this morning. Could still see some strong storms. We still have more strong storms back to our west. Uh but just pushed their way onto the Cumberland Plateau right now. Uh so we are still going to be watching for some stronger storms. You can see all the activity back further to our west towards Nashville.
So that still has to come on through.
So, if you have to get your day going and you have to travel out and about, uh, make sure you download the East Tennessee weather app. If you don't have the app, uh, I will here. I'm just going to post that in the chat right now. So, I just posted it in there. You can click on this link, that one link to download the, uh, app itself for either Android or iPhone. You can download it for your tablets. And don't forget, listen, if you're getting ready for work, uh, kids getting ready for school, I'm either on YouTube or Roku TV or Amazon Fire. And both with those, you can now watch what you're watching here on your cell phone uh, on the big screen. So, you don't have to like sit there and try to look at your tiny cell phone going, "What are you saying, Witcher? I can't see it."
That's what the big screen's for. That's how that's how I uh, that's not what you say at all. Right.
Yeah. Erase that. It's back and see more. It's going to be off and on.
That's going to be the story.
Laying in bed and watching the light show in Alcoa and the light show in um Monroe County. Good morning, Thomas. How are you?
So, don't forget to go download the app.
If you like the app, I'd appreciate the share uh to all of your friends and co-workers and uh neighbors.
No pictures showing up on the gallery so far with the app.
And I don't think you're posting any pictures here on social media. I don't think.
But I'll look All right, stand by, Alex. I'll get that to you here in just a second.
>> Okay, I just open up uh Facebook so I can look there as well to see if any any pictures have been posted. I can't see him. I can see the the the chat on on the screen, but I can't necessarily see pictures.
Uh, all right. So, let's pick up the futurecast. Okay. So, here is going to be a futurecast of two hours.
Uh, so, uh, let's come back to well, this is the future scan. So, this is going to be the futurecast uh of two hours.
So you can see how all this activity is going to be still settling on through.
That's a two-hour futurecast that you're seeing on the screen. So that's going to take us all the way to let's see that's going to take us well it's 510. It's going to take us to 710.
So here's your futurecast. There's your two hours.
So, probably getting closer to 7 o'clock in the morning. Let me come down a little bit closer to home.
Now, we'll do the futurecast again. So, this is what's going on. So, what's great about this, and you can get this on the app as well, the the interactive radar gives you a futurecast of two hours. Okay. So, when you go back to the radar, that's what's going on right now.
We click on this futurecast and this is what you get on the app. So that great information. It picks up on exactly what's going on out there right now. And then based on Doppler radar storm motion and direction and speed, it depicts a futurecast. And this is constantly updated. This is a great tool, by the way, if you're Woo, look at that lightning showing up. It's a great tool, by the way, if you are ever uh out on the, you know, if you're ever outside and in the weather.
Like that's what we do, right? We're outside in the weather every single day.
Went and talked to uh some boy scouts or a scout group last night of all girls uh to teach the weather merit badge and we talked about, you know, always be prepared. Scout motto. I'm an Eagle Scout myself. So, uh it's always fun to talk to those uh talk to the kids. All right, so here's your futurecast. So, again, some of the strongest storms probably pushing back through Mcmmin County, maybe the southern Squatchi Valley again closer to about 6:15. So, it's another hour or so, probably 45 minutes to an hour. It's going to the strongest cells back to our west uh into southern middle Tennessee over over um over Interstate 24. Give it about another hour to two hours and it's going to be back into Chattanooga, Bradley County, McMinnon County, Monroe, Pulk County. And then the storms that are coming in from Cumberland County that are currently have a special weather statement, those are going to start to work their way into say Morgan County and Ran County, Scott County for, you know, about 6:04. So about another 45 minutes to an hour or so and then that works its way into Knox County at about 6:30 and we get into the heart, you know, kids heading off to school. So here's here's 7:00. Here's when the buses are out. That's 7:00 this morning.
So it's going to be slow going for sure.
That's why I'll be curious to see what the schools do. Now, I don't think we're going to have a lot of severe weather, per se, but uh it is definitely going to be impactful. And maybe they do a 2-hour delay. Not sure yet. I have not seen or heard anything as of any as of yet. Now, if you work for a school system or if you know of anything, throw it in the chat so folks can uh see what's going on.
Let's see.
Is this a cold front? Uh, more upper level energy. The cold front actually comes through to tonight. Tonight and tomorrow. So, this is way ahead of the cold front. This is just upper level energy, but the actual coldront comes through tomorrow.
How's it looking for Dandridge? Stormy, my friend Thomas. It's going to be stormy. Everybody has pretty much the same uh threat or rather opportunity at this point of the game because it's not really a major threat. Of course, lightning is a threat, but uh the rainfall, the beneficial rain, he has an opportunity at this point in the game.
Morning, Donna. How are you?
Nice. Big shout out to the Eagle Scouts this morning. Probably one of the most one of the things I'm most proud about.
>> Graduating college was pretty proudful as well. Getting married was proud about that as well. Having two kids is I'm proud about that as well. Uh, but becoming an Eagle Scout, I'm really proud about that because I gave up and uh almost didn't do it. And then finally one day I woke up and I said, "Okay, I'm going to be mad at myself if I don't do it."
So, I did. I turned all my paperwork in on, you know, 5:00 on my 18th birthday.
Last possible day you could possibly do that.
Uh, I mean, Audrey, there's never a 0% chance of tornadoes, but I'm going to say there's a very low percent uh for tornadoes. So, I'm not anticipating any tornadoes. We don't even have any severe thunderstorm warnings, but that you never can take it off the table.
Uh National Weather Service is saying most interesting cluster for wind potential is the severe thunderstorm warned a storm entering Moore in Lincoln counties back to our west in middle Tennessee.
Timing estimates uh are just over an hour hour for Hamilton County. So, pretty much what I just told you, uh, we're getting about an hour away or so before it starts to work its way into Hamilton and Bradley counties where potentially could see some stronger storms. So, this is what's going on right now. That's a futurecast. So, what you're looking at on the screen is a futurecast of two hours. So, this takes what's going on right now and puts it into motion for two hours.
You can get this on the app itself.
That's not what I wanted to do. Sorry about that. Let's go here.
Let's go back to the futurecast.
All right, here's your future scan. This is your futurecast of a future radar of two hours. Kind of give you an idea. Uh, no severe thunderstorms out there, no severe weather, just a lot of lightning, torrential downpours that's going to slow you down.
What's up, bro? All right. This morning, Rick, Jeez Louise, please pass me the cheese. I have two grandsons. Okay, we read that already.
Sorry about that.
So, a new special weather statement was just issued by the National Weather Service, meaning a storm strong, but uh not necessarily severe strong.
So, here's what's going on out there right now this morning.
Heavy rain. Heavy rain is going to slow everybody down for the morning rush hour.
Here's the current depiction of what's going on.
So, there's that special weather statement that just issued until 6:00 this morning for Hamilton County. Uh Bradley County does include Siquatchi as well as Marian County. It extends a little bit further to our west into Grundy, Coffee, and a severe thunderstorm warning right now for Franklin, uh, Tennessee, just off to our west. So, those are the storms we're going to be watching here this morning as they continue to work their way eastward hopefully. And I think they'll probably weaken a little bit, but uh, you know, we'll keep an eye on that.
Just sent a picture from one of the security cameras. Let's see what that looks like. Let's go get that on the East Tennessee weather app.
Denise knows how to do that. Let's see.
What does this look like?
Is that a screen grab Denise of like the lightning? There's her security camera.
Uh, so Denise is Where's that at Denise again?
Denise is Clayurn County. She's a Witcher weather watcher by the way.
Clayurn County, Tazmill area.
I'm going to be in Clayurn County next week. Next Tuesday, a week from today, I'll be up in Clayurn County. Denise, what your weather watchers are up and at it chatting this morning about the storms. Oops.
It's 519, by the way. Morning, Audrey.
You're welcome. Morning, Fern.
Yeah, we're getting some power outages for sure.
So, Denise, I just sent a picture. So, what is that picture? So, is that lightning that's flashing? I'm I'm assuming security camera that there's some lightning from Cayman Venro County Airport as the storms move off to our south and southeast. So, uh again, some of the heaviest rain. Oops. Sometimes I move the radar. That's actually my computer. Uh all right. So big lightning show, heavy rain. Some of the strongest storms are starting to slowly wind down.
And as they do so, we'll be watching round number two come on through. So I'll probably let you go here in a little bit. I'll go get my forecast updated for all the East Tennessee weather platforms and then we'll probably be back on again as round number two comes on through.
But just know that it's a lightning show to boot and I'll keep uh things up and running uh live uh as I go away. I just needed to get some forecasting done.
Brian says, "Uh let's see, Brian, sorry I took that off." Uh good morning from Louisville. Lewisville or it could be Louisville. I'm I'm assuming Lewisville.
Second second second pot of coffee brewing. Appreciate being able to wake up and know you are already there. Go download the app. Thanks, Brian. I appreciate you, man.
Go download the app. You can watch front and center.
I mean, the last 30 minutes I've had 1500 people watch on the East Tennessee weather app itself. So, just come in, get the information you need, move about your day. That's what we're here for.
Morning, April. Good to see you again this morning.
And then I do a live weather update called Wake Up with Witcher at 7:30 as I get after I get the kids off to school.
I think my wife's working today. Kids are going to school. I'm going to need a nap. I think you're going to need a nap.
Good morning, Carolyn, joining us from Granger County. Again, we were talking about Granger County. If anybody knows where uh I could put up an East Tennessee weather camera, a free East Tennessee weather camera, by the way, in your county or in any counties, uh hit me up info at Eastnweather.com. We could start the conversation. Uh I am setting up a slew of cameras. You can see the one of them there on the bottom right hand side of the screen. That's kmvy Monroe County Airport where we've been talking about and tracking a lot of lightning off in the distance up towards the mountain counties. These are also available for free on YouTube, the East Tennessee weather app, online at eastnather.com.
It's got a pretty cool interface on the uh on on the website, it's a it's a little bit easier to use. We're going to change the interface uh for the app to to us to to to access these cameras, but on the uh on the web page, eastnweather.com, um you can see a map and so you can zoom into the map and see exactly where these cameras are located. to give you an idea of the location of the cameras. We're going to skirt them around all of East Tennessee. We've got uh you know several more that were delivered yesterday actually that we're going to be uh debuting here in the next couple of weeks hopefully next month or so.
And so if you're interested in checking out some live views, beautiful live views around East Tennessee, make sure you check that out. And also once I get all get it all done, we're almost completed.
We'll have rolling 24-hour time lapses uh next to the cameras as well, so you have a good view of the cameras. Let's see if uh let's see if I've got I've got one probably I could share this morning for you.
Well, they're not fully updated yet.
Let's see if I can update this.
Uhhuh. Now they'll be updated, I think.
No, 859.
So, those end at 859.
But give you an idea of what these look like.
I'll show you.
Standby.
All right. So, this is a this is what you'll be able to see once we get that up online and stuff like that. So, I'm going to take this here.
Uh, publish. There we go. So, that's a rolling 24-hour time lapse from Stardust. So, so yesterday morning.
Look, you can see the boats and the houses bouncing around with the water.
Look, it's pretty cool, huh?
Well, I moved the camera a little bit.
So, I'm gonna be moving the cameras every once in a while. So, the rolling 24-hour time lapse won't always be uh the best depending on if I'm moving the camera around, but that's Stardust Marina. So, anybody uh heading out doing some boating on Loris Lake, you'll be able to check out a 24-hour time lapse and live views from Stardust Marina.
And that's going to take us to 8:00 last night. That's when the time lapse stops.
But, uh again, Let's come back to this. Okay, that's the show. We'll start the show later.
And by the way, don't forget to support all the advertisers. Bottom left hand side of the screen, you'll see a rolling uh uh rolling view of all the advertisers like Burks and Ogle and ECL uh East Coast Lines uh and so many other folks here around East Tennessee. We've got Dolly Parton Children's Hospital here. Uh so again, these are all folks that are supporting this free platform uh for your uh entertainment if you want and for your knowledge and information.
And that's what we do. Betty, thank you so much. The app is awesome. Good morning, uh Millie. How are you this morning? Lightning is full swing. Kids are headed to the bus at 7:20.
Uh will it be uh full swing? Probably starting to wind down. I would imagine by about 7:20 or so.
has really calmed down now. Light rain and some distant rumbles.
Uh Denise, you're you're too you're too kind. You're too kind. But you have to say that you're a Witcher weather watcher. I pay you for that. I don't pay you. But if you join the Witcher weather watchers, you'll get a free t-shirt and a free hat. How about that?
>> We're starting to show, Betty. starting to show.
I mean, that's a great question.
Well, I started the show before that actually renders through my whole computer system.
I think that actually officially renders through at 6 o'clock in the morning because my live show doesn't actually come on until 7:30. This is my live uh morning weather update uh background. I could show you a different one, but that is a good question for sure. Uh let's see here. I'll change it for you.
I think I can change it.
That is that is that is that's good actually. Um I didn't even notice that.
But, uh, that's that that that that lower third area is typically for my live broadcast.
Uh, that's, uh, not until 7:30 in the morning, at which point it typically is updated. Here's the one that you'd typically see on the 24-hour weather channel. Uh, but see, it's not my now my show's not ready for that, so it's not going to really work so well.
Okay, we'll have to go back. That's not going to work so well. But, uh, good question.
That is funny, though. So, there we go. So, don't don't mind that. It's actually technically not officially, I don't think, updated. And I just now noticed that thanks to your uh thanks to your comment.
Thanks, Mike. I appreciate you, my friend. I don't think I I I'll have to work on getting some other stuff updated or, you know, getting it updated a little bit sooner if I know I'm going to go live.
I mean, what is the difference between today and Tuesday?
Melissa, what's your weather watcher as well repres your weather watcher t-shirt today.
Nice. Love it.
>> We don't have cookies, but we have t-shirts and hats.
Yes, we do. Yes, we do.
All right. A lot of folks are getting ready for work. I'll just take you on a big picture. I will run you through a quick preliminary forecast here. But uh and then I'm going to send you back just to let the let the let this roll uh live with some live weather data uh while I get ready for the show. Then I'll have to shut off the live stream to go record uh all the um all the updates here. It's 5:28. I got to get some radio done. I do do uh weather for 25 radio stations here in East Tennessee. B97.5 is one of those bigger radio stations. Uh so you probably hear East Tennessee weather uh giving you weather if you listen to radio. Uh just know that these storms are going to continue to slowly fade away before round number two comes through. Uh and we are under a risk for isolated strong thunderstorms. So our risk level today and that does include tonight. So the risk the risk that we've had this morning was a level one risk but today and tonight which really is tonight uh into early Wednesday morning is a level one and a level two risk. So, we are going to do this again later on tonight. So, here's your futurecast. We pick up our timeline this morning. Uh, picking up on those showers and thunderstorms racing their way off to the south and southeast. Then we quiet down after about 7 8 9:00 this morning.
We'll see some sunshine today. Some high clouds for sure. And then round number two comes through around midnight tonight. And then that moves its way on out. We'll probably see a few spotty showers and thunderstorms throughout the day tomorrow. uh as the cold front actually comes on through, that cold front will shift the winds and that's going to usher in some cooler and drier air for the rest of the week. Now, rainfall totals, we're going to see anywhere from a half an inch to well over maybe an inch or two when all is said and done.
Uh we'll run you through the forecast for the day today.
Uh let's see here. Okay, so current temperatures right now as you step outside, uh we're in the 50s for the most part. Forecast highs generally speaking are going to be in the 70s thanks to the clouds. Uh while we do have uh you know, while we do have um another round of rain heading our way, I said we're going to see abundant sunshine, we're going to see some sunshine, but as our next round comes on through, those clouds will start to increase around the area. So, a couple rounds of showers and thunderstorms.
I'll show you the big picture. here. Let me show you the big picture of how the whole evolution of of how how this is all playing out. Uh, all right. So, there's your futurecast model. They're picking up our timeline this morning at 5:00 a.m. The cold front swings on through tomorrow. Showers and thunderstorms side off to our south and east. Here's round number two. Severe weather risk will continue to pick up throughout the day today and tonight around the region. Uh, and then for our area, probably closer to midnight tonight through about 2:00 in the morning. A few scattered showers throughout the day tomorrow. improving weather conditions. And a quick check of that 7-day forecast here for you.
If I can find it here. There we go.
Here's your 7-day forecast. So, we'll be in the 70s and then we'll drop uh down into the 60s Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and then back into the 70s next week. Probably going to stay on the cooler side. Here's the latest uh Climate Prediction Cent's forecast from May 4th through May 8th and from May 6th through May 12th. meaning we're probably going to trend below average. The the signs are there to see average to below average weather for the first maybe week or two weeks of May. And if you're looking for something to do this upcoming weekend, East Tennessee weather myself uh and my director of sales is going to be over at in Townsen uh for the Bigfoot Festival.
I have my younger son with me as well.
We're going to be on the cooler side of about 66. We have about a 20% chance of rain. I'll be highlighting that in the coming days once we get through uh the severe weather potential for the next 24 hours. Again, a live look on the radar here this morning. We do have showers and thunderstorms that are racing their way into the area. There is no severe weather threat. We've got a special weather statement right now for places like uh Marian County, Squatchi, as well as Hamilton and Bradley counties. This runs until 6:00 this morning. When you switch down to the high top radar, got some pretty good thunderstorms rolling through northern Alabama and southern east Tennessee.
Other than that, heavier rain showers on the backside of that system. So, you can still see some heavier rain moving its way through Cookville and the Cumberland County area up back up to Fentress and Scott County and Morgan County. So, while some of you have already seen the conditions kind of quiet down for the severe weather potential, we still have some uh moderate to heavier rainfall that's going to be swinging its way through. I think that's probably going to be the general rule of thumb through the morning rush hour. So, I don't necessarily think it's going to be great. Uh Tuesday is is just Monday's ugly cousin, I suppose. So, I'm telling you, I wake up every time my fan goes out. Slept through the thunder but woke up as soon as the f the power turned my fan off.
That is funny. Uh it's almost like kind of having white noise in your in your room. How's Granger County looking? Just some heavier rainfall. Uh that should be about the extent of it. So I'm going to send you back to uh just let this live stream run for a little bit. And I think I have that. There it is.
And uh we'll just have some music kicking back. We'll keep this live on social media so people can see what's going on. We'll keep it live on the app.
I'm going to go do some forecasting.
I'll watch the second round. Uh we'll see you back here for Wake Up with Witcher starting off at 7:30 in the morning. The most impactful weather has moved its way on through. Uh just know that we've seen a lot of rain. We've seen over an inch of rain in some locations and so ponding and puddling is going to be the story here this morning for the morning rush hour. If any severe weather pops up, I will just come right back in and do a quick little live weather update. Don't forget to excuse me, download the East Tennessee weather app. It's 100% free. Thanks to all the local sponsors and advertisers, people who believe in what I'm doing. We're building a platform, live weather coverage, all digital weather all the time. I'm on Roku TV, Amazon Fire YouTube, so go smash and subscribe to that YouTube button. You'll get updated there. Anytime I drop a new video on YouTube, you'll get updated. Uh, I don't push notifications every time I drop a a new video with the East Tennessee weather app, but just know that the latest weather forecast is always available with Witcher's one minute weather and a full forecast. So, Witcher's one minute weather is just a quick little a quick dirty update of the forecast. And then, uh, the full forecast is going to be a more traditional longer form forecast where I can really break things down into a little bit more detail. Uh, you get lightning notifications when lightning is within 15 milesi of your location.
So, a lot of you are probably getting a lot of those notifications this morning.
I've gotten plenty uh myself. Watches and warnings from the National Weather Service. And again, live severe weather coverage front and center or just any sort of live weather coverage front and center uh on the East Tennessee weather app itself. We're building a new platform here for us in East Tennessee.
We were the first 24-hour weather channel. The first. It's on Roku TV, Amazon Fire, and YouTube. So again, if you have a business or an establishment with a lot of TVs, hit me up.
Mikeweather.com.
If you put up East Tennessee weather up in your establishment, I'll come highlight your business because it takes uh takes a village, right? We got to work together. We are one big community. Lee's got almost 3/4 of an inch of rain so far.
Looks like we're not playing any ball games here tonight. H you'll probably play some ball games tonight. We're not going to see, you know, the fields are going to be wet. So, I guess it depends on the fields how much they actually dry out uh throughout the day today. And it's now storming in Cosby. Woke up to the beautiful sound of rain.
>> Nice. Carrie, love it. 8200 so far in Clayurn County, New Town area.
>> So, a lot of storms this morning. I'll send you back to the channel with some live music. You can watching, check in on the radar, download the app, and I'll see you back here for Wake Up with Witcher starting off at 7:30 in the morning. I got to go get some forecasting done. Lisa, I'll see you and whoever else wants to join at 7:30 this Thanks for tuning in this morning.
Again, like and share for community awareness. Have a great Taco Tuesday up. Well, I might as well stay right here as I kind of um navigate getting us back to uh the channel here.
So, now we got to navigate through that.
That's the live look at the East Tennessee weather uh weather website, by the way. But we're just going to take this full for you and we'll loop it.
We'll come back to East Tennessee. All right, my friends. I sure hope you have a great day. Be safe. Be kind to each other. and I'll see you back here in just a short while.
Let's get the music playing though. Got to get the music playing.
