Effective pain management after oral surgery can be achieved using a combination of ibuprofen (anti-inflammatory) and Tylenol (acetaminophen), which together provide relief comparable to narcotic medications while avoiding the risks associated with stronger painkillers.

I Had Two Teeth Pulled at 83, Here's What Happened!Added:
Hello everyone.
Well, as promised I thought I'd give you an update on my oral surgery and how it went.
Everything went fine.
I'm all kind of puffed up in here.
I got some bruising that >> [laughter] >> and I can't put my partial in because of the swelling.
So I'm getting a little tired of that. I just want to be able to eat what I eat want to eat and just normally, but that will come. One thing I'm relieved to get those two abscessed teeth out.
But that just leaves me with five teeth on the bottom now.
But what they did is you like I said they used my old partial which is probably about 11 years old. I had made in Mexico. I went to Dayo Dental.
That was a very good experience years ago.
But um it fits so well and everything. What they did is just add two teeth to it and there was a clasp that was broken that I didn't realize and they replaced that.
So we have to just wait and be patient until it heals up and then I can wear it and everything will be back to normal. So So how did it go? Okay. Um it was about an hour's drive there.
Drive was nice.
Problem was we got there an hour early because of the time change.
So we sat out in the car for about an hour which is okay.
Then came in and had to sit in office I mean not in the office, the waiting room for a while till they call you in.
So got in there and she they ask you a lot of questions. They got the computer there with all this stuff running around in there and I was then I was getting undecided about whether I wanted them to put me to sleep with that twilight sleep or just to dead the whole thing.
But this tooth right here, that's why I'm bruised. That one I broke off at the gum line. I think I told you that. And they may have had to just dig that one out. That's why I probably had problems.
I thought this back one would be the one, but this is not bothering me at all.
So, they put on heart monitors.
So, I guess they must keep track of your heart rate.
Um, blood pressure machine they had on me.
They also ran an IV.
Wasn't real happy the way they did that because she had blood running down my arm and dripping on the floor. Don't know what that was about.
A little mistake, I guess.
But So, um, he came in, made a couple words of small talk.
And they put this thing in my nose like oxygen.
And I knew all and you could smell it.
This stuff, you know. This it smell like uh, pure oxygen.
And after that, boom, you're out. I don't remember nothing.
And I keep thinking when you have that twilight sleep, do you um, just do what they tell whatever they tell you to do like open your mouth or put your head back or whatever?
I don't know.
Uh, I'm thinking I heard that one that you do.
Hm.
Well, anyways, next thing I remember her walking me to the recovery room and Bill was there and she was giving him instructions.
They gave me mouthwash to wash my mouth out, blah, blah, blah, you know.
Three times a day and a prescription for some pain pills.
>> [clears throat] >> By the way, I found out that what really works good I I don't have I'm I put it up here somewhere, but it's They used ibuprofen to take the inflammation out and Tylenol. That combination they found works as good as like a narcotic.
I mean it was a high milligram.
I might put that description so you know what it is.
But wow.
I mean they're not concerned about it then.
So, got me in the car and I had on a light colored coat and I remember it started raining and I think I put my head over like this, put the seat back a little bit and when I got home there was I had three good sized things of blood on me and I got packed my mouth and all all bloody.
Well, we got got into the house and I sit down in the recliner and you're just woozy, kind of woozy.
And he went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription.
That was the only time I really felt some pain. It really hurt. It I think it start wearing off while he was gone.
So, right in here and it wasn't throbbing, it was like constant when just one pain that stayed.
So, I thought, oh, this is really getting bad. I'm going to go So, I got up and I went in and found two Tylenol and I took them.
So, it wasn't too long after that he came home and then he gave me the pain pill. So, there was some kind of a narcotic pain pill. I think I've only used that once.
And that was that day when I first got home.
Other than that, I just did the ibuprofen and Tylenol, which was great.
So, I have not been any pain. I mean, you know, I'm sore, but So, if you're concerned about going in for oral surgery, I'm Make sure I left I didn't leave anything out to tell you. Um don't be.
And don't be afraid to get in that twilight sleep. That was the best part of it.
Because if it was bad, the whole thing, I don't remember it. I don't know nothing about it.
So, >> [sighs] >> if you have to get some work done, do it.
It was It was a piece of cake.
And now all I got to do is wait till I heal up so I can put that partial in because I'm tired of eating soft stuff.
I just want to be able to eat.
And yeah, I'm not going to lose weight because the soft stuff you can eat is usually high calorie, like mashed potatoes and whatever else.
Okay, guys, I just wanted you know that I was okay. And I hope I didn't leave anything out, but it's the best I can do for now. All right. Love all of you. Bye-bye now.
