[00:00:00]Canada flooded six entire towns and left them underwater forever. Ontario, St. Lawrence River, 1958. The government wanted a deeper shipping canal, but six towns stood in the way. Aultsville, Moulinette, Mille Roches. Entire communities were ordered to leave.

[00:00:15]Families got two years notice. Move or be flooded. Homes were dragged away to higher ground. Some buildings were destroyed completely. Churches demolished. Roads erased. Some cemeteries were moved, others were left behind. Then the floodgates opened.

[00:00:29]Water swallowed the towns within hours.

[00:00:31]6,500 people lost their homes. Today, parts of the villages still sit underwater, visible only when water levels drop.
