This video explores the common stereotypes associated with Discord's four status options (Online, Idle, Do Not Disturb, and Offline), explaining how each status reflects different user behaviors and communication preferences. The creator emphasizes that these stereotypes are exaggerations meant for humor rather than serious character judgments, and that online personas can differ significantly from real-life personalities. Understanding these status stereotypes helps users better interpret each other's availability and communication preferences in online communities.

Discord Status Stereotypes! | DragonHorseBird ReactAdded:
Discord is status is stereotypes by stereotypes by dragon horse birds.
>> You know what it is? One of the most popular messaging apps out there. I mean, there are currently 650 to 690 million registered users as of early 2026, which is a lot if you haven't already understood that. But one of the main discord is the ability to display a current stat >> where you can let others know what your availability is.
>> The current statuses are online, idle, do not disturb, and offline. And as you can see from the title of the video, there are stereotypes that come from all of them. But a little >> I always use >> disclaimer before I I always use the abuse one. like I think I think oh this is >> stereotypes are not meant to be taken seriously. They are an exaggeration or generalization of a topic subject or an idea. In most cases they're just meant to be taken as jokes. That's what I want to emphasize here. Everything said in this video is just my viewpoint of what a Discord status says about you.
Obviously it's not 100% true and I want to make that clear. Please do not use.
>> Of course. Of course, guys. Of course.
Ah, we have to do disclaimers because people are stupid, right? No. So, it's like I did an autism test. My number Yeah. My number just just like like here. Uh I did an aism test. AISM test.
[music] And my score was was 108. You see? So, no. Uh my number is 108. I'm automatically autistic now. I have Tism, guys. I have Tis. No, of course not.
This is stupid. And yeah, that's that's why he's disclaiming about it. This is so ridiculous. This is this is really so [ __ ] ridiculous, man.
>> What I say?
>> But yeah, this society we have we have to do disclaimer. As >> long as we can understand that, we can get started with the video. Let's go.
Online. This is basically the default status for everyone as it's what you start with once you create an account.
It's fairly straightforward, too. It just means you're available to talk on Discord. But there are some variables for users with online status.
>> Let's go through them.
>> If your profile just has the basic information on it, so like your username, a picture, little to no badges, no bio or status, >> you mainly only use Discord as a messaging platform to talk to your friends. That's it. You probably have no interest in figuring out how most of the various features of Discord work, and you would like to keep it that way.
Chances are you're a lot more of a social person than the majority of people who already use Discord. And there's also a good chance you rarely use Discord as a result. Only using it if you need to talk to someone who doesn't have any other social media. If your profile has a lot more effort put into it, such as an animated profile, multiple badges, an active game status, and a descriptive bio or status, you tend to use Discord a lot, like for the entire day. Whether you have it on in the background or you're actively talking to people every day on the server or something, there's a good chance that you're the type of person who doesn't really go outside a lot, you know, a good amount of what Discord has to offer and you make use of that. Do you think this is true, guys? I I mean I online should be the standard like status of like most of the people, right? So there's no way that everyone online like is like this. There is no way. There is no freaking way that that does not make sense at all. That does not make sense at all.
>> And I know about the stigma that this is supposed to mean you're a basement dweller or something like that, but I don't think this is entirely true. Some people put more effort into their profiles because they want it to more truly express who they are. Whether they want to make their profile more fancy, goofy, even stylish, that really just depends.
>> Yeah, this is this is really goofy.
>> Depends on the person. But honestly, that statement gets thrown out the window once you figure out that online personas exist. And you can only really know a person once you meet them. So be careful who you meet online. I guess idol. Usually this is supposed to mean that you're not at your device at the moment. So Discord sets the status automatically after a certain period of time, but you can set the status yourself. So of course there's going to be stereotypes for it.
>> Let's jump into that initial sentence first. So, picture this. You're doing something on your computer while having Discord open and you're suddenly interrupted to go do something and then something last a while to the point where Discord has to change her status to idle. Oh. Oh, I see. I see. It's the person that doesn't that is there that is there but don't want to be annoyed but at the same time it doesn't want to be offline.
But uh it probably the person that puts this like want to be seen by a specific person want there is a few people that they like to talk you know just a few very few specific people and they don't have interest to take to talk with anything else anyone else so they put this status and they they go do their stuff like play their games or whatever the hell that that they are doing there while they are on Discord or with Discord open and they are expecting only very spec few specific people to get in touch with them right it it seems to be about that otherwise I don't see why boy someone would use such status being there unless you're not really there and uh this quite set it to yourself >> usually it's supposed to take about 5 to 10 minutes for this to happen but let's say 30 minutes in this scenario in most cases you come back and when you interact with your computer Discord changes your status back to online generally this is what The idle status is meant for to show that you're currently not at your device and are unavailable at the moment. There's not much else to say for this except if you set your status on yourself intentionally. There's a good chance that you made it this way in order to avoid something or someone like a DM, a game invite, a group chat message, or something along those lines. You're probably too lazy to respond at first glance, and you use your status to abuse them. You're also probably used to making excuses for why you don't respond to something since you wanted to make it seem like you're really busy IRL when in reality >> yeah more or less like what I said right >> or watching a really long TV show or both do not disturb >> oh this is mine this is mine guys statuses of users who frequently use this >> oh wait this is common I don't see much people using it at least not the ones I know like this is Because everyone hates getting notifications.
>> This is me.
>> Let's start with the office.
>> Yes. Yes. I turn all servers notifications, all friends notific everything. I see just the numbers up there and but but I don't get like actually notified. That's why I don't care by people like me there because I mean it doesn't matter if they if if they all me at all because I don't see anyway. I don't get pinged at all. Those who keep do not disturb on permanently.
You've never seen this person with any other status. When you do, it's >> it's exactly like it's exactly like that. I never change this status.
>> Honestly, nothing special. You probably find talking to this person annoying because they seemingly take a long time to answer your message, mostly because they don't get a notification ping for the message. Chances are you'll probably get ignored unless you follow up with your message. And if they do respond, you've probably moved. I >> I I answer I answer everyone, but it's take it takes time. I respond when I can. And when I can't Oh, takes a long time. A long long time. I'm really really busy.
>> On to something else because people aren't trying to wait an entire week for a response to a simple question. So, if you're one of these people, >> that's true.
>> Don't be surprised.
>> People that damn me. Oh, this guy knows that I take a lot of time sometimes to answer. Yes, that's >> some of your friends stop talking to you. If you set the status intentionally, but only use it for a short period of time, then you're clearly using the status for its intended purpose, and you're one of the good people. Some would say probably even the best.
Oh, so I'm evil because I use all the time. Thank you. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
>> And everyone should love you because you follow standards along with being considerate towards others. This is totally not biased at all. But seriously, if you're actually using this status for its intended purpose, you understand the idea of being considerate and that your actions do have consequences. Keep doing that. We appreciate you.
Offline.
Honestly, this shouldn't even be on here. The only reason it's on here is because you can set it as your status.
But regardless, >> onto stereotypes.
>> If you set your status to offline, >> uh I I I have a guess. Uh like people that might set offline so they can read they can read uh what people say in servers or etc. without like being annoyed by anyone like by friends or anything because to all of them they uh you are not active, you're not aligned.
So you're free to still use this squad however you want but you just want to lurk around. You just want to read stuff. You just want to you know uh you don't want to engage in voice chats or anything. You just want to see what people are typing and things like that that there are people that might do this stuff. So uh it's not used at all. I think it's I think it's an important status like all the others as well.
>> You do not want to be bothered. You really don't want to receive messages and you use status to demonstrate that.
>> In terms of games, you do this because you prefer to play games by yourself.
>> Single player games are your best friend.
>> The only exception is if you're invited to play a game that you're actually interested in.
>> Hello Zealots. Hello.
>> If the message you're receiving is actually important. In most scenarios, this is something that you've voluntarily signed up for, so you knew this beforehand. Sometimes you make the excuse that you're trying to see how long you can stay offline for, but we all know that's just a massive coping mechanism. Unfortunately, this makes it kind [laughter] of weird for those who do want to do stuff with you because there's no real way of knowing if you're online or not. People don't want to play guessing games when it comes to messaging. And just like before, you can also use the status as an excuse for ignoring a message entirely. So honestly, the same thing applies from do not disturb. Don't be surprised if some of your friends stop talking to you.
>> And finally, those who are actually offline.
I mean, what is there to say about this one?
>> Yeah, >> being offline is supposed to you're not on Discord at the moment.
>> There's not much to explain here. Wait, why did I include this again?
There's really no reason to talk about the obvious here. I mean, there's nothing special about being offline >> and you're talking just to make more minutes. Yeah.
>> Uhhuh. I guess meant to fill a specific quota or something.
>> I understood you.
>> I don't know. And that does it.
>> Those are statuses that I can think of personally.
If there are some that I missed, feel free to leave them down in the comments below. I don't normally make videos like this, but honestly, this topic was something that I've wanted to make a video on for a while now, including some other ideas that I've written down. And honestly, this was pretty fun. It It's It was fun brainstorming stuff from >> specific statuses.
>> Welcome relates to stuff I've experienced myself, which is why sometimes they were really specific.
>> There aren't many subscriber like, "Oh my god, that's too much ads." only what subscribe to my Oh god, >> I don't know if you're listening to this and I know you and you feel like this is a personal attack, then uh too bad because it kind of was.
If this is something that you'd like to see more of, remember to leave a like and subscribe to the channel. I'm not sure if I should make a like goal or something like that for this type of video, >> but if this video gains enough traction, then I'll try to think of another video like this.
