The bad news is there's a residual delay and you're looking at it right now on the Abernathy Bridge. That crash just cleared, but I-205 southbound now is really plugged up past 99E, past Highway 213.

[00:00:17]And your southbound drive now is basically backed up all the way to Clackamas. So, with that in mind, 43 minutes gets you south from Highway 212 to Tualatin. So, plan some extra time there. Rod?

[00:00:36]Here's the uh state capital down in Salem. It's been a cool start. Now warming though up to 55°. Beautiful morning down Oregon City and not a cloud in the sky from the end of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. I have us at 72° at noon, which is about where we were yesterday for a high. It was 73°.

[00:00:53]There's the warm up to 86° and we are still [music] projecting 90s tomorrow, forecasting 93° for your Tuesday.

[00:01:08]>> In Woodburn, eight multiple people are dead and one officer is injured after a shooting in Sandy. We have the latest on what folks living in the area need to know after being told to shelter in place yesterday afternoon. Plus, >> Most of the time people would say, "Wow, that was right in our own backyard."

[00:01:23]That No, this was in our living room.

[00:01:26]>> The community of Longview still reeling as 11 people [music] have now been confirmed dead after a chemical tank ruptured last week. Uh one local church is coming together to support the victims' loved ones ahead.

[00:01:38]>> And some call it the rivalry game, some call it the Platypus Bowl, but no matter what you call it, it's coming back. We have details on the next Ducks versus Beav game and when they'll be [music] facing off on the football field. Coming up as your news at sunrise starts right now.

[00:02:13]>> Really nice. Of course June the day one of meteorological summer. The the calendar says meteorological summer is the month of June, the month of July, the month of August. And fittingly enough we're talking about warming weather today and tomorrow. Here's Chinook Winds Casino Resort camera in Lincoln City. 70s today and I think there could be some 80s along the coast tomorrow. 47. It's a bit of a cool morning. 47 right now. Here's Providence Park. You can look up over the West Hills. Not a cloud in the sky and the warm up uh 57°. I have a slow 70s at noon. Yesterday 73 was the high and then all the way up to 86. You're going to notice that. Get used to it because tomorrow we're going to be up in the 90s and we'll have the 7-day forecast for you coming up shortly. Here's Chris.

[00:02:55]>> Rod, thanks for that. Uh earlier trouble on the southbound Abernathy Bridge. Good news, that has cleared. That fender bender is out of the way now. The bad news is there's always a residual delay and you're looking at it now. This is near 99E. Traffic's actually moving a little bit better now than it was a few minutes ago, but man, we're still plugged up from here at Highway 213 back to the Clackamas interchange at Highway 212. So with that in mind, your drive from Clackamas south to Tualatin has just now dipped under 40 minutes, but obviously we're going to need some extra time on that side of town. Elsewhere on the freeway system, not bad. The drive times are picking up a little bit. 25 minutes for instance gets you in from Hillsboro, 28 minutes the northbound I-5 drive from Wilsonville to downtown, China.

[00:03:33]Turning back now to that developing situation out in Sandy where multiple people are dead and one officer was shot.

[00:03:39]>> Yeah, Sandy police say the two or the hours-long situation is over with the suspect surrendering to police. Sorry, Devin Askins has the latest.

[00:03:48]>> Sandy police saying this initially began as a domestic disturbance with multiple people being killed and an officer with Sandy Police Department also injured in that shooting but the Sandy Police Chief saying that that officer is expected to survive. People that KGW News spoke with say they first heard a series of gunshots around 3:45 Sunday afternoon before being told to shelter in place.

[00:04:11]Some people telling KGW that an officer telling them to hunker down and hide and they pushed couches against apartment doors and moved their kids to another room.

[00:04:20]Dozens of officers and deputies swarmed the scene staying for hours while the suspect was confined to a home. And just before 8:00 p.m. on Sunday night, KGW crews saw a man being led out in handcuffs with officials later confirming that the suspect did surrender. People who live in the area called the incident shocking and terrifying.

[00:04:38]>> I was in my bedroom and I heard gunshots, rapid gunshots just over and over again, more than probably eight to 10. And I looked outside, I heard people screaming.

[00:04:48]>> This is a traumatic event for our community and the Sandy Police Department and I know many people are grieving.

[00:04:55]I ask everyone in our community to keep the victims, our injured officer and families, friends and all the first responders in their thoughts.

[00:05:03]>> The Sandy Police would not say how many people were shot and killed in yesterday's shooting but they did say that there was no threat to the community.

[00:05:28]What has been almost a week since a 900,000 gallon chemical tank ruptured and investigators are now starting the long process of determining what led up to that implosion. All 11 people who were missing have now been recovered and confirmed dead. Officials also announced that of the seven people who survived the blast, four have been treated and released. Three are still in the hospital. EPA and locals state officials are monitoring air and water quality and continue to say that Longview's drinking water is safe. Right now the Nippon Dynawave facility is mostly closed with affected workers staying paid through June 7th.

[00:06:03]>> In the midst of this tragedy, Sunday morning service at churches in Longview were solemn. R.J. Coulter was invited to one of the services as churchgoers prayed for the victims and their families.

[00:06:14]>> If you >> [music] >> knew somebody there, it's what you should stand up.

[00:06:20]>> [music] >> At the first Sunday morning church service since the Nippon Dynawave mill disaster, the room is heavy. The loss of the 11 men killed feels unbearable.

[00:06:36]>> Most of the time people would say, "Wow, that was right in our own backyard."

[00:06:39]That No, this was in our living room.

[00:06:42]This hit everybody very hard.

[00:06:44]>> Members of the congregation putting their arms around those who knew the victims. Dan Derby worked at a paper mill for nearly 40 years and says that type of work is ingrained in the community.

[00:06:55]>> We all kind of get pictures in our mind of what happened.

[00:07:00]Just a bunch of old workers going to work.

[00:07:03]All of a sudden, everything's changed.

[00:07:06]Our hearts really go out to the families.

[00:07:09]>> He and his wife Glenda are regulars at New Hope City Church, but say it felt especially important to be there in the wake of this tragedy.

[00:07:17]>> We get our strength from the Lord.

[00:07:19]That's where we get it, you know? So, that's where we want to be is in his house with his people.

[00:07:24]>> During the service, members were asked to form 11 small groups, each given a name of one of the victims to pray for.

[00:07:32]>> Norman Parlor Dylan Nolan >> Pastor Scott Olin explains how church can help in times of crisis.

[00:07:40]>> I think just continuing to have a high value for community, a high value for people, high value for love.

[00:07:50]>> He says leadership is available for ministry and prayer and that his church plans to help the families financially as well.

[00:08:04]>> And in other news this morning, the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect of a road rage shooting. Just before 3:00 a.m. Sunday, emergency dispatchers got a 911 call from a driver who said someone shot into their car. This was in the area of Southeast Foster Road and Southeast Richie Road. There were three people inside that that car at the time, but no one was hurt. The Sheriff's Office says the suspect's vehicle is an older blue Ford Expedition with a gold-colored bumper, no license plates, and a temporary tag in the rear window. If you have any information on the vehicle or shooter, you are asked to reach out to the Sheriff's Office.

[00:08:38]>> Photos shared by Vancouver Fire Department show some intense flames coming from the second story house over the weekend. This was just after 11:00 Sunday morning when firefighters responded to a home off Northeast 4th Avenue and Roth Street. Now, they rescued one man who could not move by himself. He was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive. It took nearly three dozen firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

[00:09:07]And in Salem, an investigation into what caused a fire at a car lot is underway.

[00:09:12]Crews arrived to the scene to find two RVs engulfed in flames. They were able to put out the fires before they could damage a nearby building. Nobody was hurt.

[00:09:23]And turning to football now because the rivalry between the Ducks and the Beavers is back on the schedule. Oregon and Oregon State have agreed to four future games between 2028 and 2032. The 2028 game will be in Corvallis, then Eugene in 2029.

[00:09:41]The two in-state rivals won't play in 2030, but will play then again at Autzen Stadium in 2031, then at Reser Stadium in 2032.

[00:09:50]So, sure will be a newsroom divided again in a couple of years.

I think this has been the talk of the town, so you probably already are aware of this, but the warm up as June begins. Just for 2 days though. We're going to get quite a bit cooler again starting on Wednesday. So, this is one of our forecast models this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. showing temperatures low to mid 80s up and down I-5. 80s out in Arlington, The Dalles, and Hood River as well. And then a decent cool down tonight, but a lot of us will hold at 50 or better. This shows Salem 51 and Portland 54. And then the headline, one of the headlines this week will be Tuesday's temperatures. This shows low 90s in Portland and Corvallis reaching 90° in The Dalles. I'm actually projecting 93 for Portland tomorrow. And here's Timberline. So, first day of June, just Yeah, take a We can take this full again, Brian, if you would for a second, our wonderful director. Just Look Here's the Palmer snowfield kind of right to the right of the chair lift. You can see a square kind of room patch right in here. But, look at all of this. I mean, this is very, very, very barren for the first day of June.

[00:11:14]And it will be a story that we follow this year. Again, there were you know, a decade ago we started seeing projections that by the year 2050 there would be no snow by the end of the summer seasons up at Timberline.

[00:11:29]Period. It's going to be interesting to see what we have at end of this year.

[00:11:33]All right, 53 in Portland right now, 58 degrees in The Dalles. Those are current numbers. Later today, 70s out east, 80s in the east gorge, and 80s up and down I-5. I've Portland going 86 today, 93 tomorrow. There's the big drop though, Wednesday, 74. Dave, it could stay dry.

[00:11:49]Maybe just clouds and cooler temps, but we will see showers this weekend, Friday overnight, Saturday, and into Sunday.

[00:11:55]>> Rod, thanks for that. We've got a new traffic alert on the Banfield, I-84 westbound. We can't see the crash. It's out of range of this camera. It's not far from 43rd Avenue, but man, traffic is stacked up now. This is out past 82nd Avenue to I-205. So, with that in mind, let me show you that uh behind door number two. You can see we are really slow and go now on that side of town.

[00:12:14]So, the trip in from Troutdale is starting to jump up a little bit, 31 minutes. I expect that number to jump uh significantly here over the next little bit. So, keep that in mind as you hit the freeway. Also, uh in the Gladstone area, so the good news here, earlier crash on the southbound Abernethy Bridge, that cleared about 10-15 minutes ago, but there's always a residual delay, and that basically extends from 213 uh back to Highway 212 in Clackamas.

[00:12:36]So, as you hop on the freeway, you're still looking at about 30 minutes to get you south from Clackamas to I-5 in Tualatin. Shaena, Matthew?

[00:18:33]>> I have these really thick binders that go all the way back to 1999. Um >> Impressive.

[00:18:39]>> So, climate it's kind of became just through my career kind of a passion. So, last June we went 96, 94 in the 8th and 9th. We went 90, 94 on the 29th and the 30th.

[00:18:49]So, we hit it four times and we went on to only hit I say only hit 90° 19 times. And most people think back it was kind of a cool summer, but what's bizarre is the 30-year averages still have us only hitting 90 like 12 to 13 times a season.

[00:19:06]>> Mhm.

[00:19:06]>> But if you start the average at 2020, the average is 20 now.

[00:19:10]>> Okay.

[00:19:11]>> So, that's become the new bar. So, June's the first day of meteorological summer. So, are we going to hit 90° or better more than 20 or less? I think it's reasonable to say, last year is a perfect example, that if we have less than 20 90° days, we all kind of go, "Woo, we dodged a bullet." And if we're more than that, I mean, the record's 31 back in 2018, then we really start to notice the heat.

[00:19:34]So, the outlook that came out refreshed yesterday from NOAA still calls for the month of June. This is June. All of the northern tier of the US to be above normal temperature-wise, including all of the west down through California. And it includes on the right in the tan color us to be in the below normal temperature department. Average June 1.63.

[00:19:53]Let us hope that we at least get more than an inch this month. Good grief, we're going to get some measurable rain this coming Friday night, Saturday, absolutely.

[00:20:01]And then what does this mean? Well, that's tough to tell. The average for 90° heat, last year we did it four times, the average is two.

[00:20:08]Again, the European model, which is the only one I looked at in in detail yesterday, showed uh our first heat wave of the season somewhere in the final 10 days of the month. Meaning, there could be a day a period in there where we rip off four, five, six 90° plus days in a row.

[00:20:26]So, we'll see. After we hit 90 tomorrow, I don't see any more real hot weather through the first half of the month of June, which much of June doesn't look that bad to me. Here's a look at a cool down out to see. That's coming in on Wednesday. Here's the 500 millibar upper level flow pattern, and it doesn't really show you the heat well. This is tomorrow.

[00:20:46]I mean, if you look at that, you're like, this doesn't really scream hot weather, but the surface air mass is pretty warm and we've got an east wind flow, and we should easily hit 90. What does show up well is this cold low coming in. It's going to drop right down into us on Saturday. Here it comes. So, that is the likely gray sky, scattered showers, and temperatures only around 60 for a high this coming Saturday if nothing changes. Here's uh the state capital, the flag blowing a little bit out in the wind. There's the Reserve Golf Course from the Explore Tillamook Valley location where 53 in Portland, 55 in Salem. It's clear skies across all of our state right now and we're going to be warming up. Yesterday was 73, today 86, tomorrow 93. The record tomorrow is 98, but at 93 it would become the hottest we've been so far this year.

[00:21:28]There's the cool down Wednesday that may or may not have some rain with it.

[00:21:31]There's the likely shower 62 on Saturday and showers scattered but ending I think during the day right now on Sunday.

[00:21:38]Here's Chris.

[00:21:38]>> Okay Rob, got a couple of new traffic alerts to get you up to speed on. We'll start off on the Banfield right there I-84 westbound. Looks like this is right near the 30 Is that No, that's not where I wanted to go. I apologize. This map is in the wrong location but the crash scene is westbound near 43rd Avenue. We've got a couple lanes blocked and now that has the I-84 westbound commute. Again, never mind the map. I'm sorry for that. But I 84 right now westbound is backed up all the way out past 205. So that drive coming in from Troutdale now has spiked up to 66 minutes at last check. I'm going to keep you posted on this for sure. Only one lane getting by westbound through the Hollywood District. The other trouble spot that we have that just popped up in North Portland. This is I-5 southbound between Marine Drive and the Expo Center. Looks like we've got the left lane blocked with a crash there. There's also some emergency responders over in the right shoulder.

[00:22:30]So that is starting to tie up the southbound I-5 commute as well. 24 minutes gets you from Main Street to the Fremont Bridge. Guys, back to you.

[00:25:01]>> And so while new strikes are exchanged as the war with Iran now rolls into June, Alice Barr has the latest from Washington, D.C.

[00:25:09]President Trump entering a new month with a series of legal setbacks. A judge halting the administration's $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund using taxpayer money to pay back people claiming unfair prosecutions under the Biden administration, potentially including January 6th rioters. Former Vice President Mike Pence weighed in.

[00:25:31]>> It's deeply offensive to me that that you could have a fund that could even possibly compensate people who assaulted police officers or vandalized the capital on January 6th.

[00:25:42]>> The fund now on pause after a prosecutor on January 6th cases filed suit while the Justice Department defends its legality. That as another federal judge ordered President Trump's name removed from the Kennedy Center and temporarily blocked it from being shut down for renovations. The president said he would back away and hand the institution over to Congress. While he also suggested canceling the concert at the Great American State Fair after several artists dropped out over concerns the event was too politicized.

[00:26:16]>> Some musicians seem to have segmented their audiences the same way you know politicians have.

[00:26:23]But this is Freedom 250 and the celebration of the 250 is a non-partisan event.

[00:26:27]>> President Trump is now expected to headline the fair while proposing a MAGA rally instead of having quote overpriced singers who do nothing but complain. All as he insisted overnight, Iran wants to make a peace deal slamming his critics and telling them to sit back and relax while it works out.

One officer was also shot multiple times and is expected to survive. This first began as a domestic disturbance and a shooting call just before 4:00 yesterday afternoon. People living in the area were told to shelter in place. That's since been lifted. Police say that the suspect surrendered and was taken into custody.

[00:30:23]>> Well, weather wise, easy peasy. We are all clear today and tomorrow. Here's Seaside live. You can see the blue waters in kind of a different way to look at Seaside cuz there's Tillamook Head and there's Seaside right there.

[00:30:34]This is looking down from Gearhart and the camera up by the golf course at Gearhart by the Sea Resort. Uh Portland clear 53. Here's the warm-up today 72 at noon, 86 expected and then tomorrow for [music] the second time this year. We did it back on May 3rd. We're going to be up into the 90s 93, >> [music] >> but just like that Wednesday we drop it back into the 70s likely showers at this point rolling in Friday overnight [music] Saturday and some shower activity on Sunday.

[00:31:18]There's some snow up there, but there is blue up there and it's probably a little warm up there, too.

[00:31:51]So we've got a pair of things to look at. First off this, you can see fire crews have Westbound I-84 blocked off here. I I don't have the details or the particulars on any injuries with this crash, but this is right now at the 58th Avenue on ramp to I-84 Westbound. In fact, looks like they're also stopping the Westbound traffic from getting on the freeway at 58th Avenue. Again, I'm working to get more details on this, but you can see that right now only one lane and is getting by or not getting by at this moment and the traffic is backed up solidly out past I-205. So with that in mind, the trip in from Troutdale has jumped up to about 75 minutes. Do yourself a favor, use Sandy Boulevard.

[00:32:26]You can hop on from 33rd Avenue to get around this. This is going to take a while to flush out regardless of how quickly the crash scene itself clears.

[00:32:34]Also in North Portland, we've got a crash up near the Expo Center just south of Marine Drive. If you can see emergency responders uh over in the left lane and the right shoulder here between Marine Drive and Delta Park. And so, that has now boosted up the I-5 commute.

[00:32:47]We're up to about 23 minutes now to get you from Main Street to the Fremont Bridge, Rod.

[00:32:51]>> And that's why Chris told me to hold on.

[00:32:53]Good grief. All right, thanks for the update. Weather-wise, no issues here.

We'll jump up to 86. Yesterday, the high was 73, which is kind of where we'll be at noon today. Here's the map later on. 70s out east, mid-80s out in Wasco County.

[00:33:39]Good morning to you folks out in The Dalles. An 80 or better all the way down into Eugene. Our 7-day forecast. Two headlines this week. The first one is the 93° day tomorrow. It's just for one day. We hit 91 back on May 3rd, just for one day. I will do it tomorrow, 93. And then we drop it all the way into the 70s on Wednesday. And maybe even cooler than I'm showing here. There's a shower chance, although maybe it's just some cloudiness and cooler weather. We stay comfortable on Thursday, Friday. And then an upper-level low dropping into us will bring likely measurable rainfall and showery weather times Friday overnight. Saturday, if you're looking at your calendar and thinking Saturday evening is the Grand Floral Starlight Parade. Yes, it is. 62° Sunday, a little bit drier with scattered showers likely ending during the day. That's your update.

[00:34:30]We are continuing to follow developments in Sandy where officials have confirmed multiple people have died after a shooting yesterday afternoon.

[00:34:37]>> This first began as a domestic disturbance and shooting call.

[00:34:42]The neighbors tell us that they first heard a series of gunshots around 3:45 yesterday afternoon before being ordered to shelter in place. Dozens of officers and deputies swarmed the scene for hours while the suspect was confined to a home.

[00:34:56]Then just before 8:00 p.m. KGW crews saw a man being led out in handcuffs after officers say he surrendered peacefully.

[00:35:04]Sandy Police Chief Patrick Huskie called this a quote dynamic investigation.

[00:35:10]>> This is a traumatic event for our community and the Sandy Police Department and I know many people are grieving.

[00:35:17]I ask everyone in our community to keep the victims, our injured officer, and families, friends, and all the first responders in their thoughts tonight.

[00:35:27]>> At this time we do not have a number on how many people were killed in this shooting. Police did however confirm that one officer was shot multiple times but they're expected to survive. People who live in the area called the incident shocking and terrifying.

[00:35:40]>> I was in my bedroom and I heard gunshots, rapid gunshots just over and over again, more than probably eight to 10 and I looked outside and heard people screaming.

[00:35:50]>> Being in this small town, it's I grew up here and I've only been back for four years and I was just from where everybody knew each other to this and yeah, it's it's terrifying, especially being your next door neighbor.

[00:36:17]>> Over the weekend officials in Longview say they completed the recovery efforts at the Nippon Dynawave plant five days after a chemical tank ruptured.

[00:36:26]Officials say all 11 victims have been identified.

[00:36:29]>> Investigators now begin the long process of determining what went wrong. And as that process takes place, the community continues to come together for those killed or impacted. Our Devin Haskins has more.

[00:36:40]>> Over the weekend in Longview, several fundraisers and a memorial service for one of the victims in this tragedy. At Bob's Sporting Goods here in Longview, hundreds of people lined up outside the store for a barbecue fundraiser. People encouraged to pay what they could. All proceeds going to the families impacted by the incident.

[00:36:58]Also in Longview, multiple vendors at the Cowlitz Community Farmers Market donated some of their proceeds to the families. And even in other cities like in Kalama, a coffee shop owner donating their entire Sunday sales to the affected families.

[00:37:12]>> Absolutely heartbreaking, devastating.

[00:37:13]And so I feel like in times like these there's not a whole lot you can do um other than coming together. And I feel like we are community strong through and through. We always come together. And right now that's that's what we need to do.

[00:37:26]>> On Sunday, a service held for Gilbert Bernal, one of the victims in this tragic incident.

[00:37:31]And at buildings across Washington state, Governor Jay Inslee ordering flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of the victims.

[00:37:40]In Longview, I'm Devin Haskins, KGW News.

[00:37:44]>> While the sense of community is strong, so is the work still ahead. An extensive environmental cleanup process is underway right now to get the toxic chemicals out of the area around the mill. According to updates from Washington's Department of Ecology, the pH levels of water surrounding the pond in the wave are still safe. Most of the white liquor spilled didn't leave the site, but EPA is rushing to dilute the chemical that did spill into storm drains and ditches before discharging it into the Columbia River.

[00:38:11]>> A ditch is connected to the to a dike network that moves throughout the entire community of Longview.

[00:38:19]It is it literally runs through people's backyards.

[00:38:22]>> Nearly 2,000 dead fish have been found near the mill with more expected.

[00:38:27]Longview's drinking water remains safe, but officials urge people to avoid affected sloughs, dikes, and drainage ditches.

[00:38:34]>> 30 people have been arrested after a month's-long human trafficking mission.

[00:38:39]Portland police say they focused on the area of Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard. Among those arrested, at least three were charged with purchasing sex with a minor. One was also charged with unlawful firearm possession. During the mission, officers got in touch with more than 100 survivors of human trafficking and offered them advocacy services.

[00:39:03]>> A Woodburn man is facing charges after attacking a woman and causing a standoff with police. Just after 7:00 Friday night, officers were told that 29-year-old Donald Finlayson attacked a woman twice while in possession of a firearm. When police arrived, they say Finlayson shut himself in a unit at the Woodburn Villa Apartments. SWAT officers were called in to assist, but after about 2 hours, police say that he surrendered peacefully.

[00:39:28]>> And officials are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at a cannabis growing facility in Estacada. This happened just before 11:00 Saturday morning on Northwest Noble Drive. When the crews got there, they found heavy smoke as well as pressurized containers and liquid fertilizers that were threatened by the fire. Crews had to call in PGE to secure the power as crews crawled on under growing racks to reach the source of the fire. One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

[00:40:02]>> Parking permits for popular Sauvie Island beaches go on sale today. You will need the permits at Walton, Collins, and North Unit beaches every weekend this summer and on holidays. A daily beach permit is $10 and seasonal permit is $30. Keep in mind though, this is different from the wildlife area parking permit. Officials say they'll be checking for printed out permits or receipts and you can buy them online or at local stores.

[00:40:26]>> Well, summer's right around the corner and PBOT and the Plaid Pantry are teaming up for a summer of safe riding.

[00:40:32]Starting today, they are giving out over 5,000 bike helmets at 53 Plaid Pantry locations across Portland. Helmets will be available on a first come, first serve basis to people 12 years old and up. PBOT is also using this as an opportunity to remind people about being safe while they bike or scooter. Anyone 16 or older is required to wear a helmet while on a public path or roadway. That applies to bikes and e-scooters. And a reminder that riding a bike or scooter on the sidewalks is illegal in Portland.

[00:41:08]>> In the Cascades, ODOT is asking cyclists to stay off McKenzie Pass even if the scenic highway looks ready for a ride.

[00:41:15]Highway 242 sits at about 5,000 ft and closes each winter as it's buried in snow and requires extensive spring clean up. ODOT says right now crews are removing hazardous debris with chainsaws and heavy machinery beyond the gates and going around them puts both workers and riders at risk.

[00:41:32]>> Well, it is 8:40. Let's get back over to Chris McGinness who's keeping an eye on a traffic alert.

[00:41:37]>> And an update on that story actually that Shana just read. We did hear from ODOT that they are set they are on schedule to reopen that highway in about 2 weeks. So, 2 weeks from today. All right, back to the freeway drive. Some good news.

[00:41:49]Uh the earlier crash here near 58th Avenue near the on-ramp here has been cleared to the shoulder. That's the good news. The bad news is the lineup is still pretty extensive on I-84. It extends out past I-205 towards Rocky Butte. So, you're going to hit that wall of traffic uh coming in right around 102nd. And with that in mind, the drive in from Troutdale has gotten better uh but it's still about 35 minutes or so at last check. Again, that's from Marine Drive in Troutdale to I-5. In North Portland, we've got a crash on southbound I-5. Looks like this is in the clearing stages near the Expo Center.

[00:42:17]Uh as I say that, uh I take that back. It looks like the left lane is blocked again. So, so much for that. The drive out of Clark County now uh back up to 21 minutes.

[00:42:26]Also, Interstate 205 is running slow because of the situation on the Banfield. Again, there's some residual delay when we get lengthy uh closures like that. And last but not least, over in Clackamas, I-205 southbound still running really thick here because of earlier crash on the Abernathy Bridge.

[00:42:42]The drive from Clackamas south to Tualatin sits at about 31 minutes.

[00:49:19]Now, the heat that's coming today, 80s, tomorrow, 90s, but then that's it. See the clouds offshore? There's a weak cold front that will be coming into us. I mean, not weak temperature-wise, but it will bring us a lot of cloudiness, knock the temperatures down in the 70s, and it may or may not uh bring us some rain.

The road at this point is open, but keep this in mind if you have business at the DEQ uh testing site there. Earlier trouble on the Banfield near 58th Avenue. There's the on-ramp right there from 58th uh to 84 Westbound. That crash is clear, but the lineup up still pretty significant out past Rocky Butte. So, we're still looking at about 31 minutes to get you in from Troutdale.
