The Goldilocks Complex is the tendency to reject all political candidates because none are perfect, which prevents voters from making strategic choices. A deal only makes sense if it's better than your BATNA (Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement), meaning you should vote for the best available candidate to fight for your rights and resources, rather than waiting for an ideal candidate that may never exist.

This SIMPLE EXPLANATION on How We Re-Elected Trump Should Make You Re-Think EverythingAdded:
A deal only makes sense if it's better than what you would get with no deal.
Even if a deal feels unfair, if it's better than your BATNA, you take it. So, what did we learn? What black people got with the no deal option was Donald Trump, which gives us a rise in black unemployment, a rise in gas prices, another war, a retrenchment of DEI, a retrenchment of affirmative action, Barack Obama posted on his page as a monkey, and a banning of over 500 black books. A deal only makes sense if it's better than what you get with no deal. This also teaches us something else about negotiating.
The rules that you're negotiating under ain't always the rules that your opponents are negotiating under. Ooh, yeah, and black people are always under different rules.
>> Ready. We're prepared. Do not give in to fear.
Be a fearless.
This is not the time to be afraid. This is a time to stand up and fight back.
And to resist any temptation for them to divide us.
We're in this together. The rule OF LAW IS ON OUR SIDE. WE WILL NOT GIVE IN, not give up, WE WILL NOT CAPITULATE, WE WILL NOT BOW, WE WILL NOT BEND, [cheering] WE WILL SURVIVE.
>> IN TEXAS, in Texas, um Julie Johnson got beaten.
Or let me say it differently. Colin Allred won. He beat Julie Representative Julie Johnson in a primary runoff.
You know that he dropped out. He's been on my show, he's been on Clay's show, he's been on the week like Colin Allred has been to to Urban View. When we call, he shows up, okay?
And let me just say, I don't treat politicians like friends, but I love when they come here and are asked questions or or challenged or they take your calls, because this is probably the largest gathering of constituents you're going to find anywhere live. Period, okay? So, when people don't come here, you know, I'mma give everyone a fair shot. Or you don't have to come to my show, but you got to come somewhere on Urban View.
Because it's the largest So, why wouldn't you come?
Colin Allred always shows up. I don't know how he's going to lead or whatever, but this is when we start holding people accountable. So, this is the 33rd congressional district in the Dallas area. And it was really competitive, and you know that he dropped out of the Senate race because Jasmine Crockett was in it. And he didn't want to take votes away from her. Unlike the pinky guy who's staying in >> [sighs] >> God, just drop out. Why are you splitting the vote? Anyway, Colin Allred did the math, and he was like, "Yeah, no, I'm not going to I'm going to support Jasmine Crockett. I'm dropping out of the Senate race. I'm going to run in this district here in the 33rd district." And he won.
He got 44% of the vote, according to yep yep yep yep. And Johnson I don't know Julie Johnson. I don't know if y'all think that's a good thing.
But there we go.
She held stock in Palantir. Okay, this is what we know about her. A data company with ties to ICE, according to financial records. She also had an independent money management manager that sold that said that the stocks were sold last year, but doesn't matter. I don't know who's funding her. But there we go. And let me ask this question, too, cuz there's been a lot of commentary about AIPAC money and who's taking it. Um I I'm more concerned, and I'm concerned with who's funding who, because I do think that most people don't have the character to not do the bidding of people who are funding them. Much like most people do not have the character to go against people who are paying their paycheck. And maybe you shouldn't if you're working somewhere fight your employer. Maybe you shouldn't, you know?
And maybe you shouldn't take the money, but unfortunately politics politicians need money until we elect people who will get money out of politics and overturn or put guardrails around Citizens United. And also, when we start showing up in greater numbers, we can have better people represent us.
But, this is where we are. But, I've heard some people talk about even Jasmine Crockett with the AIPAC money.
And when are we going to not make a single issue the the problem?
When are we going to be mature I don't want to say mature. When are we going to understand that there's no perfect there's nothing perfect. That that you're really voting for the best chance to fight for your rights and resources.
That you're voting for the best person that you can fight to get your rights and resources. This is not about having a perfect candidate.
As a matter of fact, um Doss Discourse, who's been on this show um a lot, and we love him, Joshua Doss, actually talked about this, and he he calls it the Goldilocks complex.
Let's play that.
>> It's amazing.
>> I did not vote for Kamala Harris.
>> Yes, sir.
>> I did not vote for Donald Trump.
>> Yeah.
>> Unlike many black people who believe you must vote even if you have nothing you're looking for, I'm not in that group.
>> I had an economics professor in college who would always talk about how to abandon emotion whenever you're in a financial or economic negotiation, and how to dominate that negotiation. And he had a a very interesting leveraging tactic that I never forgot.
>> A green guy is locked in a room with an orange guy and a million dollars, and the clock has 1 hour, and they tell him, "Look, all y'all got to do is decide on how to split up the money, and we'll give it to you. But, if not, you get nothing." So, the green guy says to the orange guy, like, "Look, this is easy.
Let's just split it 50/50 down the middle, 500K each." Orange guy says, "Nope. I'll take 600K or no deal." The green guy is like, "Wait, what? No. That doesn't even make any sense." So, they argue back and forth, and eventually the time runs out, and the green guy doesn't take the deal. So, he walks out with his head held high, no money, but with his head held high. He kept his morals. But, what he didn't know is that the rules for the orange guy was a little different. The rules for the orange guy was if there's no deal made between you two, you get to leave with 500K. So, for the orange guy, there was no reason for him to accept a deal that did not give him more than 500K. This concept is called BATNA. That's alternative to a negotiated agreement and it teaches us the most important rule in negotiations.
So, when we were listening to a white leftist talk about never vote for Kamala during the election, think to yourself, were they communicating to me under the shield of their father's loft in Williamsburg and under the shield of a democratic mayor and a democratic governor passing progressive policies?
And would the tangible consequences of this president affect them the way that it would affect me? You see, they're saying they can't vote for a candidate cuz they haven't fallen in love with them.
But, our ancestors knew something very important. We don't get the privilege or the luxury of falling in love with our political candidates because this political system don't love us. Politics ain't a love story for us. It never has been.
It's a business deal. A negotiation.
And we have to win each negotiation because when we lose, we don't have safety nets.
>> Mhm.
Yes.
And Goldilocks was a fairy tale.
Mhm.
The green guy and the orange guy.
They had a limited time to agree on how to split a million dollars. The orange guy said, "I I want 600,000." The green guy said, "Nope, that's not fair." Time ran out.
Green guy got nothing.
Now, some of you would say, I I would have probably done the same thing, but you didn't know that the orange guy made a deal that he would get $500,000 if there was no deal. So, for him, $600,000 or nothing, he could he could stand on that. Again, we don't know all of the things. And to his point, Joshua's point, people are operating from you can be a liberal, as he said, living in California, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, you know, one of these states where or yeah, um Virginia, where you can have a house, you know, your your state legislature, your governor, all of the people are Democrats and blue, and you're going to get your rights because your state's going to and then you can stand on business and say I'm not voting for either candidate. You can probably get away with that, especially if you're white.
Made-up construct, white. If you're that, because what are you going to lose?
You live in a great state.
And the man's racist, so what? I live in all white. I'm 75% of white folk.
Segregate. I'm I'm in in in a white enclave. I'm good.
What about the rest of us?
And especially what about the black people? So, for That was Umar Johnson in the beginning. I didn't vote for Kamala Harris. I didn't vote for I'm not voting for anybody. Well, this is what that looks like, 90 million people. And again, I'm going to keep going in on the 90 million because the 77 million that said Donald Trump's my man, I don't think they could be negotiated with. Those aren't Those are open enemies.
Not trying to win them over. Not trying to cajole them to do what's right, and they're not the majority. The majority of the people that sat out, and I get it legitimately. I get it. I get your conscious and all that. You're voting voting for rights and resources. It's not for your soul.
You're rendering unto Caesar what is Caesar's. And what is Caesar's right now is you live in this country, hey, voting.
Yeah, important. And here's why. And we're not going to get necessarily the best until we keep fighting to get the best.
So so important. Joshua Doss. Doss discourse is where you can follow him.
Super smart. I'm glad to have had him on. He's been on several shows on Urban View. Really really smart young man.
Making the rounds on CNN and other places. Um but that that's important.
And best alternative to a negotiated agreement, that's BATNA.
That's It's It's lofty, maybe heady, but it's something that we have to be We have to consider. We can't go on vibes and feelings.
Literally, we are voting for rights and resources. So it has to be strategic.
Has to be.
Sitting out cannot be an option.
>> We're ready. We're prepared. Do not give in to fear.
We are fearless.
This is not the time to be afraid. This is a time to stand up and fight back.
And to resist any temptation for them to divide us.
We're in this together. The rule OF LAW IS ON OUR SIDE. WE WILL NOT GIVE IN, not give up, we will not capitulate, WE WILL NOT BOW, WE WILL NOT BEND. WE WILL SURVIVE.
