[00:00:00]Today, I want to talk to you about the myth of dairy product intake and reducing risk of uh osteoporosis.

[00:00:08]So, there's been many studies published on this, but there was a large meta-analysis study where they took the 43 major studies on dairy intake and osteoporosis risk, and they found no association.

[00:00:20]There's no relationship between eating dairy products and and uh reducing osteoporosis.

[00:00:26]So, what are some of the key factors?

[00:00:27]What are some of the key issues? Well, a lot of the research on maintaining a healthy bone mass is now really coming back to your muscle mass.

[00:00:35]So, your your muscle mass, the more muscle mass you have, more likely it is you'll preserve bone.

[00:00:41]And muscle mass releases myokines, and these myokines stimulate osteoblasts, and they inhibit the inflammatory response of osteoclasts, so you're more prone to not have bone resorption and continue to bone build bone uh throughout your lifespan. That's another major finding is, you know, your muscle mass intake is really critical for preserving your bone.

[00:01:02]There's also been some strong relationships that have been published now with insulin resistance, um having prediabetes, having increased body fat, both the combination of increased body fat and insulin is a major driver for uh bone loss.

[00:01:18]There's also been some recent research on homocysteine elevations causing bone loss. And high cortisol levels throughout the day causing bone loss.

[00:01:27]So, you know, we tend to focus on hormones and vitamin D, but looking at bone mass, looking at uh body fat and insulin levels, looking at homocysteine levels, looking at cortisol, these are all important variables that really should be should be looked at when a person's looking at optimizing their bone density health.
