A no reserve auction means a vehicle sells for whatever price the highest bidder is willing to pay, with no minimum price floor, which can result in significantly lower prices than expected even for well-maintained classic vehicles. The video demonstrates this through the presenter's experience selling his 1957 Chevy Bel Air at Barrett-Jackson, where the final hammer price was much lower than anticipated despite the car's excellent condition with only 28,000 miles, Alcantara interior, and original features. This illustrates that classic car valuation depends on multiple factors including market demand, provenance, condition, and auction dynamics, not just mileage and originality.

I Sold My ’57 Chevy Bel Air at Barrett Jackson… for WAY Too CheapAdded:
Now 35.
>> So we are back at Barrett Jackson here in West Palm Beach, Florida. live large >> where the weather is sunny and nice 70° out. Cool breeze.
>> No, it's not.
>> It's wonderful out here. No, it's >> not.
>> It's really not. It's actually pouring rain now. It's getting hot and humid.
But we're here anyway, so I figured we might as well show you what they got to work with. Look at this.
Can somebody tell me what the heck this is? This is a Jeep 6x6.
This looks like it used to be before all the metal. This is a Gladiator. Is it still considered a Gladiator or did they re >> unlimited Jeep Wrangler unlimited custom?
>> Okay. Custom 6x6 >> pickup.
>> What I find funny about these So, it's got a Magnes supercharger on it, too.
So, is this still the six-cylinder?
Surely not. It is. It's the six-cylinder. They put a supercharger on a pentastar.
That is not going to go well.
>> Want to get any power out of >> longevity wise. This is not a good idea.
Maybe they built it up. My question is, did they just add an axle or did they actually make a functioning differential back here? Because a lot of times they just throw >> functioning.
>> It is functioning. Yeah. Got its own drive shaft and everything. Would you look at that?
>> Check out the air tanks.
Yeah, I bet they got two more on the other side. And you got air hoses right here so you can air down your tires if you want to take it off-roading. You got a ladder in case you want to >> climb the t >> climb the tires. You got a spare back here.
See what they got going on back here.
You got some of these uh these are great, these boards for when you get stuck in snow or mud or sand.
>> Those are pretty nice. You got extra.
This is almost comical. You have uh what is that? Half a gallon.
>> Yeah, >> half a gallon. That'll get you not very far. So, don't run out of petrol. Oh, look at this. Look at this.
An axe.
>> Oh, there's a great place for it. Yeah.
>> And a shovel under this one.
And then I don't know what this is, but something goes there. fire extinguisher maybe. Oh wow.
This is definitely like an apocalyptic style vehicle right here.
Of course, in an apocalypse, I doubt you're going to find gasoline. Ooh.
Oh, somebody used this as a step or something or it just peeled off.
We'll pretend we didn't see that.
28,000 miles on the odometer. Nice Alcantara on the seats. Interesting green color. Alcantara on the door panels, too.
>> Yeah.
>> What do you What do you think of the >> the green and the green?
>> Yeah, the green green.
>> It's It's It's something.
>> You got Oh, crap.
>> There you go.
>> Grab handles.
>> It's It's uh >> It's all there. Well, just it's and sitting right next to it, as if that wasn't good enough, we have a Raptor 6x6.
This is the one everybody's going to be.
This This is This is king of the hill right here. I don't think it gets better than this. This is absolutely number one, it's massive and the most ridiculous looking thing I've ever seen. And I love it. I I I love this.
So, of course, it's the twin turbo 35 EcoBoost. We got the 10-speed automatic and all the other stuff that would come stock, except it's no longer stock. Now, we have these giant What size are 37 by 22. These are 22in wheels riding on 37in tires. You got your big old headache rack back here. Ginormous lights, a bed that is absolutely insane.
>> Mhm.
>> You know, I was just thinking I need a work truck.
>> This would be perfect.
>> I can get rid of the Rivian.
>> Yeah.
>> And I'll buy this.
>> You're not compensating for anything that's teeny tiny.
>> Why would you paint this stuff? Just >> How much would that take?
>> I don't know.
>> Just >> I think they actually used it.
>> Yeah.
>> And now they're getting rid of it after they played with it, which is a little scary. And if you get stuck, well, if you get stuck in this, >> I don't think anybody's pulling you out, you know.
>> I don't think you'd have any problem towing.
>> No, I don't I don't think towing would be an issue with this either. This thing's incredible. And again, we have two functioning differentials back here.
I'm just curious to see what they did to the interior. Is it stock? Did they Oh, yeah. It's It's We've got black with white stitching.
>> Ooh. white outlines on the seats.
It actually looks really good.
I can't wait to see what this one sells for.
This has 15,000 miles on the odometer, and it even says embroidered Raptor 6x6 in the headliner.
Beautiful truck. outside of my price range. How about a lovely old school Bronco lifted with some big old tires and wheels on it. It's got a good profile to it. Paint scheme is nice. I like the kind of dark gray with red.
I think it looks really good. Got your lockouts on front. What size these? 35x 22s. 22s seem to be a real popular size.
LED headlights.
You've got the LED mud lights and uh oh, it's got aftermarket air conditioning, an Edel Brock ABS2 carburetor, and it's got the fire starter air intake cleaner.
>> Those are horrible. Those foam things. I found that out the hard way when I had a backfire, and it actually caught on fire.
>> Really? It really happened to me. I've never used those foam uh air cleaners since then.
>> I found out that's uh very common >> with those. Let's take a look at the interior real quick. See what it looks like. Oh, nice red seeds. This is gorgeous.
Oh, this is Yeah, this is This is really nice.
I'm probably going to say that a lot because >> this is nice.
>> Yes, everything out here is really really nice.
>> All right, let's move around and see what else we can find out here today. I spy with my little eye something blue.
What do you think it is, Mike? Oh, could it be a >> a Ford F-150?
>> A Ford F-150.
>> There you go.
>> Look at that.
>> Beautiful Ford F-150. This is about as cool as that Mercury Capri that turned out to be an Aston Martin.
>> Thank you for pointing that out. Yes.
An old Ford custom 1966 K10 long wheelbase fleet side pickup owned by its original owner.
>> Really?
>> No, I'm lying.
>> Oh, >> it's powered by its original engine, though.
>> It's close to the same sort of right.
327 cubic inches. I'd kind of like to pop the hood, but I don't really want to mess with these. If the hood's open, I'll show you. If it's not, then then I won't. But And look at these old school tires. I remember my grandparents having tires like this >> and they would put them on cars like your cars, the rear wheel drive old school cars.
>> Yeah. When the weather would get bad, you would throw these on for like snow and mud and everything. It looked ridiculous.
>> But I bet they >> they worked.
>> Yeah, >> they worked. And take a look at this at this bed. Isn't that beautiful? Somebody actually took the time to seal all the wood in here to stain it and seal it.
>> They did a good job. It's really pretty, >> didn't they?
>> Yeah.
>> What does something like this go for?
Like, what does this work?
>> I don't know.
>> Oh, man. The interior again.
>> I love the brown and like the hounds tooth cloth, the carpeting manual transmission also.
a >> chunk.
>> That's how you know it's quality. How about a 1973 Scout?
>> I spy something blue.
>> And it's a Scout.
>> I have to admit, I got this one wrong.
We were walking by and I said, "Oh, look. It's an old Scout." No, it's it's definitely not a Scout. This is a 73 Ford Bronco.
It seems so small, doesn't it? Yeah, >> it's >> But what's crazy is if you look at this and you look at the new Broncos, >> they now you can see where they got it from, >> right?
>> This does look a lot like the new Bronco.
>> It gets smaller as you walk up to it.
>> Yeah.
>> From far away it looks bigger.
>> That's what Never mind.
>> $38,000. This one sold for 73 with a 4.9 L V8. 150 horsepower. 302 small block Ford 150 horse. That doesn't sound like a lot these days, does it? You know, >> look at the seats.
Oh, this is so nice.
Bronco embroidered in the seats. It's not perfect.
I think I think it looks good, though.
>> Yeah.
>> I'm just I'll be honest with you. This went for what? 32 38 38. Did this one sell already, too?
>> No, this one did not sell yet. This one hasn't gone through yet.
>> I would not pay 38 for this.
>> Yeah.
>> I would never pay No. No. Plus the 10% buyers fee, you're paying an extra $4,000 on top. That's $42,000 for this.
>> Plus, it's going to be super loud when you drive it.
>> Yeah.
>> There's no insulation.
>> However, this beautiful Sierra Classic sitting right next to it.
>> Yeah. I wouldn't pay 32 for that or 38 for that either, but I mean I would give some money for this one.
>> Did you have one back in the day?
>> Have you ever had my aunt had one?
>> Your aunt did?
>> My aunt had one and I wanted it so bad.
She had that weird bed that had like the step side.
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> Where you could, you know, climb up on it and everything.
>> Yeah. She had that. It was a red color, which like my favorite color. I wanted it so bad. And eventually she left it sitting in her driveway. It fell into disrepair. It got old and she sold it to somebody for nothing.
>> And I told her my entire life. I would I I didn't have the cash, >> but I told her, "I will you can keep it and I will make payments until it's paid off." And she ended up selling it to somebody else.
>> It kind of broke my heart, man. I >> You weren't her favorite nephew. So, >> uh, well, >> were you her only nephew?
>> Technically, I wasn't her nephew.
>> But I call it It's complicated.
>> Are we bringing up a bad past?
>> It's complicated. Anyway, Mike is real good about dragging out my demons, man.
He finds >> No, I'm kidding. Um, sort of. Anyway, interior's nice. Headliner sagging. It's still on the looks like factory engine and everything, but the There we go. That's a nogo for me.
>> No, it's a beautiful truck. I'd give something for it. I don't know. Maybe 15, 20.
>> From Connecticut.
>> From Connecticut.
>> Yeah.
>> Oh, no.
Uh, it looks real good to be from Connecticut.
>> Yeah. Oh, look how they locked the >> Oh, look at that. So, nobody could steal it.
>> That's smart.
>> That's very smart.
>> Because back in the day, you couldn't lock your tailgates. You were screwed.
>> Yeah, >> Mike.
>> Oh, >> an SS. I believe this is real.
And would you look at this imitation wood?
>> That's pretty. That is really pretty.
>> I mean, whoever did this, that is gorgeous, man.
>> Yeah, >> they've even got their whole little card printed out.
>> Even on the inside produced in 1992.
Yeah, they did the whole thing, didn't they? I bet under the u Is this bedliner or is this a mat? That's a bedlininer.
That is That is beautiful.
Dr. wood grain is who did this. So, shout out to Dr. Wood Grain because this looks >> How do you paint that? I just >> It's a rubber thing and you go like this and and you make your own little patterns and >> like in the paint as you're painting it.
>> Yeah. No, you you like do black. You do the base color and then you cut it with black and then you get this rubber thing and you kind of go like that and it puts in the grain. It's weird.
>> You've seen videos about this?
>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've seen Dr. Woodrain do it.
>> Oh, you have?
>> No, I haven't. up.
He's so full of it, man.
People love these SS's and they go for money, man. I mean, they really do.
>> It's kind of hard to beat a 454. You got a big block Chevy under the hood of a a pickup truck that's honestly not really that big.
>> There's a lot of torque here. I mean, there's there's a lot of torque. You want something that's going to just rip the wheels off all day.
>> This will do. This will be your huckleberry. All right, your huckleberry.
>> This will be your huckleberry.
>> Got to love an old Chevy SS. Let's take a look at the interior real quick and see what the miles are. I can see the dash is a little cracked up on it, which is fine. You know, if this went for that mileage cannot be right.
That can't possibly be right. I don't know if you guys can see it, but the odometer shows 192 miles.
What?
>> 192 miles.
>> Oh my gosh.
>> There's a cigarette burn on the door.
>> Oh, that would have made me >> Oh, >> it probably happened at 191 miles.
>> Ah, >> he burned a hole in this fabric.
>> Man, could it really be an original 190 mi?
>> I just don't I don't think so. I I I really don't think so. I mean, someone's done a good job making it look really nice, but I see so much here that like how would this get all where would all this paint go in 192 miles.
>> Why is the intake got paint flaking off of it at 192 mi? There's no way. There's no way that's correct.
>> I mean, it looks good. They still have paint on the bolt on the pinch bolt on the steering shaft.
I don't know. So, >> I suppose it could be, but uh >> it doesn't say anything about it in the >> Yeah, a lot of them do not have anything about mileage, which I I I find that very interesting. Some of them, if they're really low mileage, they will put that on the description.
>> And then others don't. Just like some of the convertibles, some of the tops are up and some of the tops are down. You have no way of, you know, does it work?
I don't know. Is the top in good shape?
I don't know.
>> Huh.
>> But Dr. wood grain. Shout out to you, man. That's uh that's incredible that you could do that with paint.
>> Yeah, there's no way.
>> So, Mike is in serious disbelief. I told Mike the other day, I think you might be sitting on a gold mine.
>> This car sold for $65,000.
It's a 1985 500 seel >> and it was owned by a famous Nope, it wasn't owned by a famous anybody.
>> Why? It's got the dash cover.
>> 65.
>> There's no way.
>> There's no way. I agree with you. Maybe that's 6,500, right?
>> It has to be.
>> It has to be.
>> I like the color, though.
>> Is there something special about the interior? I mean, is it is it completely redone? Is it >> I mean, it's it's nice. It's >> okay.
>> What are the miles on it?
54. No way.
>> No.
>> No. That's $6,5. Look, even the window tent is peeling right here.
>> Yeah.
>> $6,500.
Okay, let's go. Uh, let's go show them the >> I think I'm going to dub it the clown car >> that's sitting over here.
>> Um, Mike found it. I think it's interesting. It's one of those cars that I would absolutely drive because I have a saying.
>> Yeah.
>> Life is too short to drive boring cars.
>> Yeah. And I thought that I coined that.
>> You were you really? Yeah.
>> But the good news is it was so far before my time I could not have known.
Do you remember who coined that phrase?
>> Um um um I'm getting out of SOMEBODY'S PICTURE. OH, WE TALKED ABOUT IT JUST YESTERDAY.
>> Come on. But since my baby, >> she found a new place.
>> That's why I gave everybody those those Cadillacs >> down at the end of Lonely Street. Okay, that's that's hard.
>> Let's let Elvis sing the song.
>> I'm feeling so lonely.
>> I'm going to stand over.
>> Show him the car.
>> Is it die or cry? I could cry. Feels so cry. Okay.
>> Or maybe die.
>> With the drugs he was on, you probably never knew what he was going to say.
>> Okay. It's a Cadillac.
>> It's a Caddy.
>> It's a Cadillac.
>> It's a It's a stubby Cadillac.
>> Didn't Elvis have a pink Cadillac?
>> Yeah, >> he sure did. You paint this pink, you could convince people this was his.
Well, >> look at this.
>> Maybe not.
>> This is uh this is very different. It's uh >> You could have bought this, too.
>> Oh, yeah. And I so could have driven this as well.
>> You could give it to Nick cuz this really only go for three grand. This would have been great for a video.
>> Yeah, >> this would have been great for a video.
>> Okay.
>> You It's just funny. I could have given this to Nick. This This really could have been Nick. I'm sorry about your car, >> but I bought you >> this clown Cadillac.
>> When did this go through? Oh, it's number nine. This went through first thing yesterday.
>> Oh, wow. So, that's why it's so cheap.
>> That's incredible.
So, my question is, Mike, who cut this apart? Because I've never seen a Cadillac that looked like this.
>> Yeah, >> it's like an Alante before the Alante.
Uh-huh.
>> Then you can see.
>> Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
>> And the mirrors, you know. But for three grand, 76 civil custom coupe powered by a 5.7 L tray fuel injected V8 engine paired with an automatic 700 R4 transmission. That's all, folks.
>> I don't know. It's so weird that I drive it. Yeah. I wonder what it's like at highway speeds.
>> I I bet it drives fine. I I bet it drives just fine. I guarantee it probably drives like an old '7s Cadillac. It's probably perfect.
>> Even the filler panels are still in place. And you don't you don't ever see that.
>> Are the wheels this Did they line it up before they, >> you know, look a little >> It's a little odd, >> but whatever.
>> It looks like it's a little that way.
The back is a little bit that way.
>> It's fine.

>> No, no, no. I just bet he doesn't watch this video cuz he's too busy. However, like he's about to be traveling for a while.
>> Yeah.
>> But he tells me I watch all your videos, so I like to throw these little Easter eggs in some of my videos.
>> Okay.
>> Like I bet you don't watch my videos.
And then if he does, he'll text me and be like, I saw that video. I saw that.
>> Yeah.
