The case of Henry Novak, an 18-year-old student stabbed with a 21cm ceremonial knife (shastar) in Southampton, reveals significant legal inconsistencies in UK knife laws where religious exemptions create unequal enforcement, and highlights critical failures in police accountability when officers dismissed a dying victim's claims of being stabbed while arresting him for racial abuse, demonstrating how systemic biases can affect justice outcomes.

His Name Was HENRY NOWAK!Added:
Simply put, no justice, no peace.
Hey up everyone and welcome to political nerds. I'm Steph the altern political guide from Washington DC to Westminster and beyond. Now of course before I jump into this the usual disclaimer. do your own research, come to your own conclusions, and I'm not inciting hatred to anyone or particular group, religion, etc. So, let's jump into it with the story of Henry Novak. What happened?
Well, it's currently going through court at the moment because Henry Novak was murdered. Uh, he was stabbed. He was a student stabbed with a 21 cm knife, the trial was told. Uh now he is from Essex uh and he was unalived as he walked back from a night out in Southampton on the 3rd of December the end of last year.
Now the court heard that the alleged attacker Vikram Dua was filmed by Novak carrying a shastar which is the Punjabi word for a weapon or a knife which had a 21 cm or an 8 in blade. Now he denies the charges and carrying a knife in public. uh his mother Kuran Court is also on trial and denies assisting him by removing a weapon from the scene.
Now, this shastar is a ceremonial blade that for some reason here in the UK, you are exempt for carrying that blade on your person in public because it's for religious purposes.
Yeah.
So if I carry a blade on me, oh, straight to jail, I'd go.
But if someone else carries a blade on them, calls it a shasta, and said it's for religious purposes, oh, they're groovy. It's all right, Gucci. Move along. Nothing to see here.
What the hell? So Nicholas Lobenberg, KC prosecuting, said accountancy and finance student Novak had been sending Snapchat videos to friends as he walked home along Belmont Road after drinking less than the drink drive limit. So anyone that's trying to turn around and be like, "Oh, he was drunk this, that, and the other." Not the case. Uh the barristister says his phone captures the moment he met the accused.
He added that the defendant was carrying an extremely large knife in a sheath openly displayed over his clothing.
Jurors heard that the attack was not witnessed, but neighbors heard Novak say that he had been stabbed and was dying before trying to escape by climbing over a fence. A blood trail indicated that he'd already been fatally wounded.
Prosecution alleges that the accused then chose to aggressively pursue him.
Footage played in court captured an exchange in which Novak said, "In it, bad man. What bad man? You're a bad man.
Say you're a bad man. Go on."
To which Digua, the accused, says, "Yeah, I'm a bad man." The video ends moments later.
And so, the prosecutor says that the accused didn't seek help for the man he had injured with his sizable knife.
Instead, he accused him of being racist and being drunk.
Remember that for later on in this video. Now, the postmortem revealed that Novak suffered four stab wounds and a cut to his jaw with two of the wounds on the back of his legs.
And yet the defendant is turning around and saying, "Oh, I only stabbed him in self-defense."
Huh? You only stabbed him in self-defense. Then um why literally stab him in the back of his legs?
At that point, he's not facing you.
You are facing the back of him.
So why would you consider why would anyone consider it self-defense by stabbing someone in the back? In this case, the back of the legs.
Now, if you think that is shocking enough, it actually gets worse. So, remember when I said earlier on, remember the moment where the accused turns around and says that uh you know he he he he had uh Novak gave him racial slurs, this that and the other. Yeah.
Well, check this out.
There's footage where the police handcuff Novak as he lay dying.
UK authorities have footage showing 18-year-old Henry Novak gasping for air and begging for help while telling officers he had just been stabbed, only for officers to dismiss him by stating, "I don't think you have, mate." while arresting him for racial abuse.
No. Elon Musk has offered to fund a wrongful death suit to nail the police officers that provided this inhumane treatment to Novak.
And I hope the officers are brought to justice. I hope heads roll over this one starting with the officers on the scene.
Now, at the time of this incident, his university at Southampton released this statement. Part of it says he was the kind of lad who, when he walked into a room, instantly lifted the mood. Henry had a big heart and an even bigger personality, and he'll be incredibly missed by everyone. I don't know about you, but that don't describe a racist guy to me. What do you think?
Now, of course, reactions to this are absolutely powerful.
I'm going to show you a few right now.
So, Tony Meadows brings a really good point here. We all remember George Floyd, right? The incident that really kicked off the Black Lives Matter movement.
So, George Floyd dies. I can't breathe.
The Western world is in uproar.
Henry Novak dies. I can't breathe.
Silence.
All I'm going to say is um spot the difference.
Right here we've got MP Robert Genrich saying, "Will there be protest at his death?
Will the anti-racism movement even bat an eyelid?"
I suspect not. They've totally lost the plot.
You're not going to get any arguments from me on that one. Here we've got Lawrence Fox asking where's the George Floyd outrage?
All lives matter. White lives matter too.
And is there going to be a protest? Yes, there is. uh Nick Marcel Tangonei, leader of UKIP, saying that he will actually be speaking at this protest Thursday 28th of May, 6 p.m. at Southampton Central Police Station, no justice, no peace, and I'll end it with that. With that being said, if you appreciated this video and you want more, and unfortunately with the state of the UK at the moment, there's going to be more, then make sure you subscribe to join us here at Political Nerds. If you're watching on X, make sure you're following me, Stephen. Like, share, comment down below your opinion, conspiracy, theory, whatever. Do you think the police officers at the scene should be fired and prosecuted for the inhumane treatment of Henry Novak? I think so.
What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments down below. Thank you so so much for tuning into this video. I appreciate all your faces. And until the next time you guys, Lers.
