Rain and thunderstorms are expected early Saturday morning (before 9:00 a.m.) across North Texas, with showers and storms moving eastward from the panhandle and West Texas, potentially bringing gusty winds up to 50 mph and pea-to-dime-sized hail; however, the rest of Memorial Day weekend will only have spotty showers, making it not a washout for outdoor plans.

DFW Weather: Rain likely early Saturday, spotty the remainder of Memorial Day weekendAdded:
I know a lot of you may have some outdoor plans and if you're planning to hit the road tomorrow, maybe going out to the lake or something, timing's going to be important. It is. If you're going out really, really early, you're going to run into some rain and thunderstorms.
>> Okay. Uh I would say after 9:00 a.m. it looks fine for most of North Texas. Good chance of rain though early tomorrow morning, which I'm going to time out for everybody.
>> Great. Let's go. Let's do it. 87, that was the high today. Normal's 86. Our record is 99. Oh, those records are really starting to creep up. Soon enough, it'll just be nothing but triple digits. Uh 87, that's the temperature right now at DFW. Pollen count, grass and oak are high. Bois d'arc is moderate and fungus is low. So, here's what I'm tracking tonight. We have these thunderstorms out in the panhandle and West Texas and the Concho Valley. A good little arc of thunderstorms. This area right here marches east and it'll bring us a chance of rain by When I say overnight, I'm talking 3:00 in the morning. So, I mean, it's really late. It's not like midnight. I'm talking 3:00 closer to daybreak on Saturday. Thunderstorms will be expected in parts of North Texas. Here's 7:00 p.m.
There's midnight. You see this cluster of thunderstorms from Haskell to Seymour and Wichita Falls and it'll continue marching east overnight. There's 2:00 a.m. Still not for the Metroplex.
Montague County about that time, Young County at 2:00 in the morning. By 3:00 a.m., showers and thunderstorms from Mineral Wells to Decatur, moving into Gainesville, into the Metroplex at 4:00 a.m. So, what I'll say is you might hear thunder, you might see lightning, you'll hear some heavy rain falling down for a couple of hours early, early Saturday morning. I mean, it might wake up the kids. There's 4:00 a.m., there's 5:00.
Showers and thunderstorms at 5:00 in the morning. So, we've been saying Memorial Day weekend is not a washout and this is not a time that a lot of people are out.
Now, travel plans might be impacted by this if you have a really early flight or you plan on hitting the road at 5:00 a.m., I mean, this is, you know, heavy rain. It's not big severe weather or anything like that, but there will be some heavy rain, thunder and lightning, some gusty winds could accompany this.
There's 6:00 a.m. See how it's showers and some thunderstorms moving into East Texas. That's 8:00 in the morning.
Dallas-Fort Worth area by 8:00 in the morning, looks like most of the rain has come to an end. There is a chance that as these thunderstorms move through, we could have some gusty winds of 50 mph, some pea to dime-size hail. We have a level one marginal risk in place for the western sections of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, then off to the west. To get to the level two, you have to get outside of North Texas, closer to the panhandle, out into the big country.
That's where they have the level two slight risk. Now, the rest of Saturday, there's 8:00 in the morning.
So, as we go throughout the the mid to late morning into the afternoon, this is 3:00 p.m.
Sure, spotty rain could be lingering, but it's not widespread coverage at that point. The widespread rain will have come to an end, leaving much of North Texas much of the day. There's 3:00 p.m.
There's 8:00. Dry. So, don't cancel your plans. Very early in the morning, there's rain. Afternoon, evening, spotty stuff. Nothing to cancel plans over.
Then, overnight Saturday into early Sunday morning, we might see another repeat of some uh some lingering showers and storms in western sections of North Texas into the Dallas-Fort Worth area early Sunday morning. There's 8:00 a.m.
Throughout Sunday, it's a mostly cloudy day. We could see a spotty shower or thunderstorm develop in the afternoon, but the coverage on Sunday, 20%. That'll start wrapping up Sunday night. There's 8:00 p.m. Let's get into Memorial Day Monday. There's 7:00 in the morning on Memorial Day. Mostly cloudy, back into the afternoon, some more spotty showers and thunderstorms mainly east of the metroplex. The main thing to take away from this forecast, fairly good chance of rain tomorrow morning, very early before 9:00 a.m., and then even before dawn for much of North Texas.
Then, it's spotty stuff the rest of Memorial Day weekend, not a washout. 68° tonight, tomorrow 83. Morning rain and thunderstorms, then spotty shower and storm chance for the afternoon and evening. Sunday, Monday, same thing. We just ran through that timing. We'll have additional chances for some scattered rain Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Then we'll take a bit of a break next weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday right now look dry. Beyond that, more chances for some spotty showers and thunderstorms.
