How Raelynn is recovering from Baclofen surgery

[00:00:00]Hey guys, so it's been a little while and I wanted to give you guys a post-surgery update on Raylan. I know I probably haven't even mentioned that she had a surgery. Uh but she had a surgery just recently uh because she um has oftentimes been very very stiff because of her cerebral palsy and we've done things like, you know, medication uh uh Botox um gabapentin, tizanidine. A lot of these things are supposed to help, you know, relieve the uh the spasticity of cerebral palsy. Um give you some relief and help you feel better. Uh but just recently we heard actually we had heard about a while ago, but uh we we re-explored the possibility of a baclofen pump. And what this is is it's a drug that is installed via a pump and it goes kind of like in your abdomen area and then it pumps through like a tube all the way up to like the back of your spine and it kind of like drips um some medication and kind of relieves um both discomfort and also just helps you get loosey-goosey. Helps her get loosey-goosey. So we she just recently had that surgery. So I wanted to show you how she's doing from that. So she had the surgery a little over a week ago.

[00:01:11]And it's healing healing really good.

[00:01:15]We're at the point now that they said it can be open air and stuff, but we still cover it just for purpose of like keeping it uh fairly sanitized. Got a little bit poking up here, but what this is is this is called a silver silver what's it called? Silver a silver calcium alginate dressing and silver is really really good for its like healing healing properties especially for like um you know, post-surgery scars and these kinds of things or post-surgery not scars, but you know, post-surgery um incision uh healing that kind of stuff.

[00:01:44]Um I'll put a link to this stuff in the description. It's it's good stuff for putting on like, you know, uh wounds that are healing.

[00:01:51]But yeah, she's healing up really good.

[00:01:53]There's her back.

[00:01:54]And there's also a spot here on her side that that's this is actually where the the pump is.

[00:02:01]So it's like right here underneath the skin.

[00:02:04]So there's a goes the pump there is a tube that then goes all the way up her spine and then I believe up here to like the top of her spine and it kind of drips down the medication from there. Helps her be loosey-goosey and we've already seen quite a bit of improvement from that.

[00:02:21]Like her arms it's so much easier now to lift her arms up.

[00:02:29]So much better. Like she would give me so much resistance before to get changed to get her clothes changed and she's just more more comfortable from that medication. Some surgeries it's been like we we you never want to go into a surgery lightly cuz you never know if it's really really going to help going to help our our thing about surgery for Railly and is that we want surgery to improve her you know pain and kind of pain or discomfort that she would have on a daily basis.

[00:02:58]Anything that's going to make her happier and overall you know healthier not just um not we don't want her to go through like unnecessary surgeries that kind of thing but this one has been super helpful so far. I mean it's only been a little over a week and they said that we can even increase how much medication she's getting through this but I mean with what we've seen so far unless it she kind of gets used to it I I think some people say that you kind of get used to the your level dosage of baclofen but so far it's pretty good.

[00:03:28]>> [laughter] >> Like just the the the change in how loosey-goosey she is and how comfortable she seems has been really good and so um just keep her in prayers as she continues to recover from surgery about a week ago but she's doing pretty good so um right now she's telling me I probably need to be quiet cuz it's bedtime.
