[00:00:53]On the 5th of December 2023, police were dispatched to a Target store after receiving reports of a theft. The suspect was believed to be a woman who deliberately pushed a full shopping cart containing multiple unpaid items. These were the events that unfolded at the scene.

The key lesson is that cooperation and honesty during the investigation may not prevent arrest, but they can influence how the case is processed and how quickly it moves to court. Next, the shoplifter turned out to be the store employee herself.

[00:09:27]>> On the 13th of July, 2024, officers responded to a theft call at a Walmart store where the suspect was believed to be an employee who used her knowledge of the job to steal merchandise. When officers arrived, the loss prevention team even revealed that this was not the first time she had committed the crime.

[00:09:51]So, >> so she'll just grab things and then just change the the tag or just not pay for things in general. She she has has ticket switched a number of things like the um >> the clock and the the clock she didn't even >> or the fan but whatever whatever the [ __ ] is like a it's just a decorative trick but she she swapped that one out for uh some kind of a whistle >> just doesn't know >> that one she did scan And it's it's whenever she has like two of anything or more than two of anything, it's usually pretty pretty fair to assume that she's not going to scan it into here. She's she's pulled the trigger on it, but that's not where the UPC is, right?

[00:11:13]>> So that could have been a $150 cart, but she may only paid 75 bucks for it. She ended up with this one, she ended up paying 170 something and that big pack of chicken too. She she uh didn't buy I want to say it was 187 and some change I think.

[00:11:38]>> Everything already pointed directly to the woman's guilt, but when officers confronted her, she completely denied all of the accusations. So obviously we got killed here because there's obviously some things going on with >> Yeah, that's what he was saying. [00:12:57]>> She claimed it was all a mistake and said she never even checked her receipts. But could her story really be trusted when she even tried using her own past history as an excuse?

I took it and Arley Ards Lee management sued me for $500 and I paid for it. Um I I don't have any theft other than that.

[00:18:39]So, that's how we came down here. She wanted to get a belly bump piercing. We was at tattoo shop.

[00:18:43]>> But then somebody was like, "Well, my friend, she they was like, "He's taking a picture of your car." I'm like, "For what?" Cuz I paid. So I didn't know what was going on until we came out here and then he said that she didn't pay.

[00:18:56]>> So we we all just friends. I don't even know her government. So >> she's not even >> Meanwhile, witnesses at the scene provided statements that helped clarify the case, especially regarding the suspect's actions after fleeing the salon.

[00:20:18]>> So after fleeing the nail salon, the suspect was believed to have deliberately changed clothes in an attempt to erase her previous appearance and avoid being identified. Meanwhile, her friends showed no intention of helping, forcing officers to repeatedly warn them about the situation.

So they now take the uncut cards and they go cut them somewhere else and it looks like they go to another store and replace them. So when I buy a gift card, I ring it up and I put 100 bucks on it to Publix and then I go and give it to him and he opens it later, the cards cut, the numbers are cut out of them and as soon as I activate a Publix manager told me as soon as I pay for it at Publix 100 bucks, somehow they get notice of that serial number or that number and they're able to use it online or whatever.

[00:36:09]According to investigators, this method had been carried out on a large scale by multiple Chinese scammers using similar tactics. The couple alone had reportedly been in Florida since April, traveling through cities including Orlando, Fort Meyers, Naples, and Fort Lauderdale as part of the scheme. Shortly after, deputies quickly uncovered even more shocking evidence inside their room.
