Vocal Coach & Songwriter Reacts to Ren X Chris Webby's 'Down The Road'!Added:
Welcome friends to the channel. We are back for another reaction to Ren just released a render of those rolled Rs. Richard, I should say.
>> I Why Italian? I don't know. There's no reason for that.
>> That was an unnecessary spin on the name. But anyway, this song was just released called Down the Road. It's It's Oh, wait a minute. It's Ren and Chris Webbby in Inatient. Is the duo called Inatient >> and the name of the song called Down the Road? I don't know, but we're going to find out.
>> This sounds like another ca casual block down a >> Yeah, exactly.
>> easy pathway.
>> I'm sure it'll be an easy road to follow.
>> Yes, that's right.
>> But that >> Yes. Please hit the like and subscribe button. Ring the bell so you always know what's going on with our channel. Nice leisurely stroll through the park with Red. I'm sure >> when I think of Red, I think of just nice >> just casual easy listening. Yeah, that's right.
>> Although he does mix those moments in which is which >> he he does. But >> all right, here we go. I TOOK my possession >> down the road that I own the road to set out at night time >> down the road.
>> AND WITH GOD IS MY WITNESS.
Dest man.
>> Dressed in the shadows down the road >> with blood on his face.
>> Down the road.
>> There was something so familiar about him.
>> I certain falling all around him.
>> Looking fresh suit. It was astounding.
>> I caught his eye and then I felt like I was drowning down the road. Standing at a crossroad and the do glow of the lit bowl silently quietly tiptoe down the long road and the man's spitly hello dear friend and me tipped his heart invitingly who knows why you felt this but I felt like someone lit a fire in me and I felt my stoing I turn and I tried to find the word and concerned and the feeling disconcerting and strange but I felt yarning a craving but something that was urging me over and then they start conversing I reached out my hand during feeling something disturbing. All I got to know is your desires.
>> I got to pause it somewhere. I'm going to I'm not going to pause it often. I promise.
>> You just, you know, something great is coming, but you also have no idea what it might be.
>> He always surprises you.
>> Always.
>> God, it's just so dense. Uh, and not in a bad way. There's just there's just so much happening but not busy. It's just so many interesting things happening you it it bears a hundred listens because there's just no way to take it all in want to take it all in >> you know like I want to just dissect one line it's like how did he do that you know like a descendatively or whatever whatever he did he added like a syllable the way he pronounced it to make it to >> he like he'll lean on on a different salable to to like to have a rhyme scheme fall into play sort of to accent a flow without disturbing what is going to be the best word, the best connotation in the context of that lyric. I mean, it's just so well thought out. It's a genius with that.
>> But there's also some >> crazy cool happening in the background.
>> The string guitar thing. It's like a little weird but fascinating.
>> Yeah, it's like a solo happening in the background. Again, another another layer which I would just like to dissect that and look at that for a listen through.
Uh, but I'm just taking it all in. You know, obviously catchy song. He's he's singing his butt off.
>> Uh, it's really guttural, really emotional. He's got sort of a a distortion effect on his voice, which >> right >> kind of adds to the the angst of it all, >> but he's leaning in heavy. It's got like that that >> southern swampy rock kind of.
>> Yeah, but the the little gospy call and answer parts are great, too.
>> Great vibe.
>> Great vibe. Let's let it roll. So good.
>> All I got to know is your desires or you get a follow me. I'll walk you through the fire. I got every type of flavoring. You should see the budget of the catering. I don't want to come off as a salesman, but I got the taste that you've been savoring. Let your pain go. Let the flames grow. I'll read every thought that's on your mind. Cuz I know you got a name. So why don't you just write it on this line here? I got a pen and everything. Who needs a wedding ring? I offer the divine. I don't think you fully understand, but I promise that you will in time. So just make a choice. So I stood frozen at the crossroads of time.
So hold of his paper and the lent down to sign down the road.
I love how they wo the sound effects in with this.
>> I still remember that where I was from.
See, I was the favorite from the morning sun.
See, I had ideas before they get too grand.
So they casted me out without reason to doubt. Now there's blood on my hands.
See, I've been that one with the silver tongue. Yeah, they say I fallen but never run. Following the calling. I've been all in with the barrel of a loaded gun. Aimed at the masses, at their masses. Yeah, the darkness going to get you. You can say a prayer if it helps you. That cross won't protect you from the light bringing lost angel. [ __ ] I only came to entertain you. But since we made ourselves a deal, you going to be my [ __ ] puppet till it breaks you.
I'mma chain you to the ground. I'll enslave you. Look around. Ain't nobody coming here to save you. I'mma take you way down cuz yeah, I know I've been around but still I got some [ __ ] to prove and I don't really give a [ __ ] how it's got to happen. But just know that you got to [ __ ] deal with the devil written. So shut up and listen to play me some blues. And just know the choice that you made today will be the last thing that you ever choose.
>> We'll wait for this.
>> Well, yeah, just playing. I'm like, I think I'm going to be adding that in post. But yeah, you got it covered.
>> It did cross my mind.
>> What an interesting way to, you know, to share the the the origin story of the devil from the devil's perspective, right? It's just kind of like dude and I was going into like the devil went down to Georgia kind of thing. It's just like handing off the guitar, you know? It's just like this cool.
It's just a fascinating storyteller.
Regardless of of >> whatever story he's telling, he finds a way.
>> He's always saying something. There's never anything just trivial or just fluff that he's doing. There's always something uh interesting that's being said and expressed, right? Uh it's just his perspective is just so like he's >> he challenges >> deep guy just thinks very deeply about a lot of stuff.
>> Why does this say we're not subscribed?
I'm subscribed to his channel.
>> Deep like that.
>> Oh tries to rent for the BB. So this must be Chris's. Okay. All right.
>> Okay.
>> I was confused like who unsubscribed me?
It's not okay.
>> Yes. H >> Okay. Yeah. This is wild. Let's keep going here.
Great feel.
>> Probably red, right?
>> Look at the strings.
Down the road.
Down the road.
Down the road.
Great tone.
Guitar tone choices.
Mhm.
God, I can't. Why can't that be on the radio? That's I mean, >> it's it's got hooks. It's got, you know, I mean, hip-hop is still like pretty big on on mainstream radio. That that is >> It does. It's got Yeah. Well, what an interesting >> Sorry. Go ahead. No, and then I mean it's definitely more experimental and like artsy and avang guard, but it's like, you know, you got people like Kanye doing, you know, outside of the box stuff. It's like this why isn't this more >> well known? It I mean it should be it's >> that's partly why why, you know, hopefully we're doing our our teeny tiny part in that, you know, sharing it, reacting to it. Um yeah, you know, get get more people introduced >> because >> obviously he's got a huge following. I'm I'm just talking about just turning on the radio and like him being as on the radio as much as whoever he needs us at all, but simply the fact that yes to be mainstream upfront. Um yeah, he's just such an interesting person and what a great uh collab here with with Chris. I'm not familiar with his stuff. His name's familiar. Maybe he did something in the past, but it's just not registering uh >> top of my head. But there was there's like the hip-hop beat with the distorted vocal with that southern gospely thing with a cool >> all the elements that make Ren Ren, >> you know, that that bluesy thing with the guitar solo, his guitar playing which is again very unique and very >> um it's just got such a imprint of him, you know? It's like his stylistically you just know it's him playing.
>> Yeah.
>> Uh and it's got this rawness but it's slick at the same time.
Um, and then his voice I just just his singing on that one was just as all his performances. It's just >> I think he used the word angstal. Yeah.
The just like this like cry kind of built in that just like >> reaches out and grabs you >> and it's almost overblown at times which is so cool.
>> Which is perfect for this song. Yeah.
>> Yeah. But his rapping is just and you know both of them. But I mean I just I love his >> Yeah.
>> his writing >> in general. But as far as far as rap because I'm not a huge rap guy, but I love what he does. I love >> it's always so interesting the phrasing and the rhyme scheme and like I said, the way he rhymes words or make makes words that don't normally rhyme rhyme and go together.
>> I think that's the genius of Eminem, too. Right. It's just kind of like that.
It's like >> Right. right?
>> Those those things and and I don't know what Chris I I don't know the you know who wrote what there but obviously we hear Ren's influence is is you know taking place.
>> Also before I forget just a huge shout out to we had one diamond member and two gold thrly members uh our supporters request this. So you know when we see three come in it's like oh we should probably prioritize this. So, thank you very much >> for alerting us to this uh >> to this song. Uh we can we can we always look forward to hearing more from Ren. I do hope he >> tours the states sometime. And I would love to experience his voice in person.
That would be wild.
>> Even if even if it's a busking tour, let's go.
>> It would almost be better.
>> It almost would be actually get right up close. Yeah.
>> H or Well, really, we just need to go there. Either way, I would love to see it. That being said, thank you everybody for joining us and sharing this experience with us.
>> And make sure you watch watch our run videos, our playlist as well. Bye guys.
