The US Drought Monitor shows that Kentucky has experienced worsening drought conditions, with a large area of extreme drought (level 4 out of 5) now encompassing Taylor County, Marion County, Green County, Adair County, Hart County, Larue County, half of Hardin County, and portions of Nelson County, though Louisville has not been affected; meteorologist Austin Evans reports that widespread rain is expected for Friday and continuing through the weekend and next week, which may help improve drought conditions over the coming weeks.

Here's which areas in Kentucky are under a droughtAdded:
Hi there, I'm meteorologist Austin Allen. Today's Thursday, which means we get an update from the US Drought Monitor and as we were expecting, uh nothing improved. It got worse uh because this was taken on Tuesday. I believe Tuesday morning they take the data and we hadn't really gotten a whole lot of rain in the areas that needed. We now have a large area of extreme four out of five drought on our scale up there and that's now encompassing all of, you know, Taylor County, Marion County, Green, Adair, uh Hart County, Larue County, too. Uh half of Hardin County, a portion of Nelson County and uh all of those drought areas pretty much extended a little bit northward. Though, once we get to Louisville, uh things haven't really gotten worse. Now, the good news is we have widespread rain on the way for your Friday and we continue to see rain chances through this weekend and throughout much of next week. So, hopefully we get the uh rain where it needs to fall and we'll see some improvement either next week or the week after. These things work slowly, so we'll have to be patient to get updates, but uh hopefully we'll see some improvement and we can finally dig out of at least some of this drought condition we have in Kentuckiana.
