How to humanely euthanize an Invasive Florida python properly!!

[00:00:00]Okay, this is a 17 ft 8 in python that we just  caught the other day. And everybody always wants to know how I kill them. Now again, there  was any other way I would not kill them. But unfortunately, because they're invasive, we have  to kill them. But we have to do it in a humane way. So I use a bolt gun. Um, this is approved by  the American Veterinary Association for approved methods of euthanasia for pythons. So, what I do  once she's calmed down, once we get her calmed down, two of us actually do this. So, one person  holds the head, the other person puts the bolt gun right here. And then we fire it, I guess. And  what happens is this is not a bullet. It's a it's a rod. It's a piston that comes out about that  far. And so, it goes directly into the brain of the python, killing her instantly. So that's what  it means when FWC says to render it unconscious.

[00:00:57]They actually mean to kill it. And then after  I kill it by totally destroying the brain, I have a pithing tool that I will um make sure  that the brain is totally scrambled and done. So it is humane. It is unfortunate that we  have to do this. This is a beautiful animal.

[00:01:21]It is amazing how big these things  get. But this thing has gotten so big because she's been eating deer  for the last 5 years at least.
